Subject: Steelhead fishing on the Rogue River

( 12-5-00 ) Well I'll tell ya, it's starting to look like a drouth year around southern Oregon. We are just not getting our normal rains. All the local rivers are running at minimally flows. This makes for very poor fishing on the south coast streams like the Chetco, Elk & Sixes rivers. I did fish the Rogue river below Grants Pass on 11-30-00. We landed 7 Steelhead drifting roe. The largest was about 5 pounds. We went back on 12-3-00 & caught 4 Steelhead drifting roe. The one thing we need is rain & lots of it. Our winter Steelhead will be starting up the rivers any day now with a big push of them in January. So lets hpoe the rains come soon & with them I think the fishing will be good. Do a little rain dance for us if you know how. Good luck guys. Ron
