Subject: Steelhead fishing on the Rogue River

( 1-20-01 ) Rain, Rain, Rain, it is just not happening. We have just been through the best of our winter rain season & it just will not rain for us. The weather people tell us we are over 6 inches below normal rain fall now. The river is as low as I have ever seen it for this time of year & clear! You can see a dime on the bottom in fifteen feet of water. So how does this all relate to the winter Steelhead fishing. It stinks! The fish have been slow to move into the river & once in the river they move slow up river. I think we are running a month behind in the Steelhead season right now. All this makes for tough fishing. However it could all turn around in a couple of days if we get some rain to bring the rivers up. Until that happens all we can do is keep fishing & complaining about the lack of rain. Anyway do not give up, it has to rain one of these day, I HOPE. Good luck, Ron
