Subject: Lake Monticello - Jan 16, 2001

Lake Monticello

Water Temperature: 60’s
Water Clarity: 3 feet

I fished a full day trip on Monday with repeat customer Ronnie McGranahan,we caught 23. Although, that sounds like a good day, we did not have but 7
fish prior to 2pm. That is when the wind picked up a little bit and the fish began to bite a little better for us. None of the fish weighed more than 5 ½ pounds and most went between 1 and 3 ½. Our fish came from 2 to 4 feet of water early, on Lockhart ¼oz. white spinnerbaits. Then as the day
progressed we started throwing Texas-rigged Gene Larew black and green pumpkin worms. We fished these in water 4 to right at 14 feet of water.
The best areas were where the water was the warmest and just around from main lake points. Pre-spawn is trying its best to take place, there are very few fish up fanning beds. In fact, we only saw 4 and that was out of two different areas. If we can get some warmer weather in here things will change very quickly and drastically.
