Lake level - 163’ about 9’ below pool
Water temp - mid 50’s
Watercolor - stained green to clear (good)
Crappie – Excellent – Limits of large slab crappie are common now. If you ever wanted one of those unforgettable catching trips now is the time. Due to water level and temp the crappie are congregated on the deep river and creek channels. Jigs of just about every flavor are working well best being black, white, chartreuse. Minnows of course are doing well for those that need that extra edge. Fish about 12 to 14 ft deep in 20 to 30 ft of water where you find structure, natural or manmade.
White Bass – Good – Lots of large White Bass are being caught on the edge of the river channel on just about anything that looks like a shad. The river is full of bait and the whites are taking advantage to feed up before the spawning run starts in a couple of months. Fish the edge of the river from the surface to about 10ft deep. Look for schools of shad on the surface, (with fear in their eyes)
Black Bass – Good – Some good size Blacks up to 8 lbs. are coming off the lake now. They just like all the other fish are hanging around the river and deeper creeks. Crankbaits, large spinnerbaits, jigs, and Carolina-rigged worms are doing the trick. Fish the edge of channels slowly with all of the above baits. Look for 6 to 12 ft of water on the edge with some shad activity visible.
Catfish – Good – Trotlines and tight lines with rod and reel are producing many quality blues and channels on or near the river. Flatheads are active on the edge feeding on bream and crappie.
Bream – N/A
