Subject: Ice Report From Hayward

Round Lake
Round is one of the few area lakes to still be producing some walleye action. The fish that are being caught are coming in the 20' range with the evening bite being the best. Round is also giving up good numbers of jumbo perch right now. Just follow the crowd to find where the suspended schools are hanging.

Grindstone
Jumbo perch are the ticket here as well. Walleyes on the lake have slowed to a crawl, things will pick up in two to three weeks, however.

Long Lake
Crappie and gills are giving the best action here. The crappies are coming in 15' to 16' while the gills are in the weed edges. Crappies have run a real nice average size this year.

Spring Lake
Spring has been the hottest place around for pike action. No monsters caught here, but for those looking for action this is the place. Good place for the kids to spend a day on the ice.

Smith Lake
Smith is still producing crappie at the 30' level. Gills have also stated to feed in the North end shallows, 5' to 10' of water is were you want to be.
