Subject: Rio San Juan and a flood of fish.

They come with the rain.... and the floods with lots of floating debris. But the tarpon appear to love it and gather in large schools presently at the mouth of the Rio Frio and in the deep pools below San Carlos. These are big fish ... some in the 200 lb. sizes and a test to any angler wanting big fish on light tackle. Apart from the tarpon, there are also a number of snook taken trolling deep lures and Machaca hooked on surface poppers, cast along the banks. Not quite the usual tarpon fishing found at the mouth of Rio San Juan and Rio Colorado, here the fish are bigger and jump higher! The best locations at present are just above San Pancho, in Sabalo and El Castillo.
