Swanswater Fishery

Saturday saw 40 flyfishers assembled for the Grand Final of the Glen Garioch Challenge Trophy, Organised by www.flyfishingscotland.com and fished previously at venues up and down Scotland over a period of 3 months with 1 team qualifying from each venue. The 10 top 4 man teams arrived to compete for the silverware and impressive array of prizes.
Not an ideal fishing day with varying conditions throughout the day and the water being slightly coloured due to the rain on previous days. But as expected within minutes anglers were hooked into fish. At the lunchtime break there were a couple of teams clearly in the lead. The final whistle was blown and anglers proceeded to weigh in the catches and hand in their returns cards for the results to be collated it looked as if it would be close.
After all the weights had been doubled checked it was down to Paul Young ( Hooked on Fishing ) to announce the results and present the prizes. With the Heron Flyfishers unfortunately being beaten into second place by a mere 9oz's.
The accolade and 1st Prize went to the team representing Aberdeen & District Angling Association.
