BURNHOUSE LOCHAN (Bonnybridge) The loch fished very well again this week despite the weather with Buzzers taking some good bags. The Yellow Dancer, Green Fritz with a black tail and Red Fritz also took some good fish. There has been a lot of activity on the top over these past few days.
Mick Tully from Falkirk caught a fine rainbow that weighed in at 12lbs 8oz and this proved to be the biggest trout caught last week. Also doing well were Garry Watson from Denny - two fish for 6lb 8oz, Stewart Sheriff from Falkirk - three fish for 11lb 5oz and James McMeechan from Falkirk - three fish for 10lb. GOLDEN LOCH (Newburgh on Tay) With three-quarters of the Goldenloch covered with ice we did not expect any anglers at the weekend, how wrong we were. John Hatton Kirkcaldy and Mr Dunn, Glenrothes were both on the loch by 8.30 and were both catching fish very quickly Mr S Hayes and Mr A Morgan both from Glenrothes had 3 for 6lbs returning 3 and 3 for 5lbs respectively all on Buzzers. Another hardy pair were Mr Bob Cox and Mr Geed Burnett from Dundee who used Yellow Dancers and Damsels to end up with a basket of 8 fish.

HOWWOOD (Renfrewshire) Due to the rather inclement weather the fishery was quiet during the week but those who did venture out on the better days did pretty well. Heather and Bobby Goodfellow from Johnstone had 4 for 7lbs and 3 for 7lbs respectively, Graham Steel (Paisley) took 4 on a C+R ticket and Stevie Docherty (Glasgow) caught 5 for 11lbs. Kenny Fraser from Glasgow caught 3 for 6lbs and Jim Linnie (Alexandria) had 5 on C+R. Mr. Caldwell had a brace weighing 4lbs 12oz and Mr. Henderson (Glasgow) took 5 for 10lbs.

KINGENNIE FISHINGS (Arbroath) Will all anglers please note that the Specimen Pool is now closed until the 30th January for essential dredging and repair work. Please phone Neil Anderson on 01382 350777 to check on the re-opening date.
Although the weather has been poor the catches have been good on the Bankside Pool with all sort of tactics from buzzers through to lures all working well. Those doing best last week included Willie Christie from Forfar with 4 for 11lbs – returned 6, Jim McFarlane (Kirriemuir) took 4 for 8lbs – returned 3 and George Anderson (Dundee) had 4 for 8lbs 8oz – returned 2. Doug Easson (Dundee) caught 11 on a catch and release ticket. Please note that this pool will also close for a period once the Specimen Pool has re-opened.

LAWFIELD (Renfrewshire) Alex Rennie from Elderslie had 39 on C&R, David Tourish had 7 on C&R, Tam Melvin from Johnstone 2 for 4lbs 2oz and released a further 7 including 1 at 8lbs. Geordie McKenzie from Clydebank 7 on C&R, Rab McIntyre from Paisley 2 for 4lbs 4oz and returned a further 8 including 1 at 4lbs and Stuart Drummond from Paisley 11 on C&R including a 4lbs 8oz brownie. Jimmy Meighan from Linwood 3 for 6lbs 8oz and returned a further 9 and Mr. Lannighan 9 on C&R and Graham Steel from Paisley 9 on C&R. Best flies are sight-bob with Bloodworm underneath, Cats Whisker, Minkie and Damsel. Contact Billy on 01505 874182.

MARKLE FISHERY (East Lothian) The biggest fish caught last week was a fine rainbow that tipped the scales at 12lbs 8oz and was taken on a home made mini Black Lure. Others doing well included Jack Hay from Haddington who had a 7lb fish on a Damsel, Gordon ‘Skunk’ Scott (Melrose) had 11 on C+R and Paul Rae (Hawick) managed 8 also on C+R. Chick Telfer from Gorebridge had 3 for 9lbs 8oz on a Cat’s Whisker and Mark Anderson (Edinburgh) took 12 on C+R, mainly to a White Rabbitiser.

MIDDLETON (Largs) Fishing has been difficult over the past week with plenty of rises and fish seemingly feeding close to the surface but very hard to get positive takes to the fly. Some of the better catches this week have come from Kenny Haggert who took a cracking fully finned fish of 4lbs 8oz, Robert Fullerton on a catch and release ticket had 5 lovely fish and Ian Tulloch had 1 for 3lbs 2oz. R Ryan took 1 for 2lbs 8oz. Others were finding it hard but those who willing to be persistent were rewarded with fish. Buzzers are working well as are Green Cats.
The Middleton Open Shield will be held on March 6th and there are still a few places available. Contact Morris on 07932 744531

ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) There are always a few hardy fishermen who turn up regarding the weather and those who did last week enjoyed some excellent sport. The Damsel, Yellow Dancer and the Black & Green Fritz proved to be the best taking patterns. George Watt from West Calder had 5 fish for 11lbs 12oz on a Damsel, T Hardie (Bonnybridge) caught 4 for 9lbs 12oz on a Yellow Dancer and Hugh Mailer (Stanley) had 3 for 10lbs on an Invicta. Andy Airnes from Clackmannan took 3 for 9lbs 12oz on a Yellow Dancer and the same pattern accounted for a fine brace weighing 5lbs caught by John Meek of Tullibody.

SPRING WATER (Ayrshire) Generally quiet due to the inclement weather conditions but good bags have been coming off the water a local club fished 5 rods and took 30 fish between them, Regulars Frank Cole took fish up to the 5lb mark on his last visit. Mr Bryce popped along from Maybole and was pleasantly surprised taking 2 fish for 11lbs. Large Black Buzzers, Bunny Leech and damsels have been the best flies of late.
The McMillan Pairs competition will be on Sunday 20th February and there are still a few places available. Contact : 01292-560343

SWANSWATER (Stirling) The fishing continued to be pretty good despite the changeable weather with fish being caught even during the snowstorms. The drop in temperature at the weekend had the effect of moving the fish from their usual haunts and created new hotspots. Most fish were taking lures, especially Yellow Dancer, Montana, Cat’s Whisker and Damsel, with Buzzers and Bloodworm picking up a few as usual.
Scott Padden, Falkirk, took the biggest fish of the week with a 10lb 10oz Rainbow, on a Black Cat, in his 2 for 14lb 10oz. Also doing well were 13 year old John Mathieson, Doune who had a great day on the Lower Meadow Pond taking 5 for 21lb, including 4 Blues, the biggest one at 7lb 12oz, Grant McCauley, Duntocher, in 3 visits took a total of 10 for 32lb 4oz and Willie Martin, Stirling, 5 for 14lb 12oz.
