Subject: Wet but Fun!

Hello Friends - Saturday was a real guppy washer. The rain fell slow and steady all morning long. The fishing forecast was a mild 29 out of 100 but the pressure was low and steady. It looked as if it could be a fair day fishing if everything held. Well, the report came in from our second boat the fish were biting. Our guest for the day Frank Zorc and Roy Ashley had a great time battling the weather and the bass. Frank caught the biggest bass of his life at 8lbs even on a live shiner. It was a nice healthy bass that was fat and full at the time frank caught her. Roy won the mud fish contest but we won't mention that. The bass feed hard between 8:30 and 9:30 am. Shiners were dying from the last supper syndrome faster than our guide could put them on. Bass after bass were fooled with live wild shiners and Frank and Roy were having a blast. The rain made for a truly wet trip but HEY that's fishing! Now all of the bass were caught on the far south west end of farm13. Yes, the far south end folk's. Hooking the shiners behind the dorsal fin paid off better than lip hooking them. Using this method you don't have to wait to set the hook. Once the bobber goes let her have it and hang on. No large numbers of bass were caught but enough action kept them busy with 5 and 8 lb bass taking the top honors. Most of the bass were fat and full. Some gumming or slight bites occurred. When this happens go to hooking the bait behind the dorsal and see if you don't get better hook ups. Now several fish bent and pulled hard but got away. I guess they will have to come back again to get those. All things considered it was a good day. Congratulations! Goes to Frank Zorc for setting a new personal high mark for Florida bass.
The water temp was 72 degree and the air temp a mild 69. Water clarity was estimated at 2 feet but was hard to judge due to constant rain fall. All of the bass were caught anchored.
