Hi Vivek
The marina in question is the Dubai Marina, off Sheikh Zayed Road past Mall of the Emirates but before just before the DEWA power station.
I'm sure many of the breakwaters (ie rock structures that go out into the sea) along the whole coast - Umm Suqeim/Jumeirah are also good places to fish from. I just fish the marina area cos it's near my house!
The only things to be careful of are
1) wet rocks at low tide - very slippy and very dangerous - be careful of wet/green rocks near the water.
2) if bottom fishing you can lose a lot of tackle/fish in the rocks. Float fishing could be one answer as some posters have mentioned. Using old spark plugs instead of lead weights on a rotten bottom is another solution if you want to bottom fish - that way, if you snag up in the rocks you only lose the spark plug, not the rest of your gear.
I don't bottom fish usually, I spin with either a sabiki rig or a yozuri sardine, as my target species are queenfish/kingfish/mackerel/trevally barrcuda. Any tackle shop should have these.
I don't fish all that often here (twice since August), and there are many members of the forum who are far more experienced fishing Dubai than me.
I don't know where you live in Dubai, but try wandering down to your local fishing spot and see what other anglers are doing...this can be a good way to learn.
Best
Richie
