Pranab, Perhaps you could extend the duty that Kit did to you, to Amir and explain why killing 100kg's of fish is not conducive to sustainable fishing and that as a responsible forum we send out the wrong signals by posting photos of dead fish all over it. Amir, are you a sports fisher man or a proffesional fisherman? Are you fishing for fun or for money? If you wish to continue fishing for fun then forget about taking an excess amount of fish to contribute towards the expence of your charter - it's not a viable reason to kill on this level. Martin James, Fishing expert and coach that runs courses out of Fujeirah, visited this site around 2 years and discontinued because of the amount of fish being killed and photo's of such. What a crying shame! Imagine we had someone with his knowledge to ask questions of on this forum? Chris, i am sorry if i am opening up an old wound with this topic but it seems that while the majority of people who read my post supported my views (and indeed yours - one for the pot was ok) that 48 hours later Amir is being congratulated for doing the complete opposite and killing 100kgs + of fish. Also, whereby 1% maybe the statistic you give for catches taken by rod and line, remember that most of these catches will be coastal, unlike purse netters and longliners. The coastal areas are both nurseries for immature fish and the place where fish spawn therefor taking fish in this area is to take fish when they are particularly valuable to future stocks. If, as Pranab pointed out, that once a fisherman is knowledgable and experienced, they begin to practise catch and release then surely there is a lesson there for those of us that are not.... |
