Subject: Chinook in Humboldt Bay

The first half of the chinook salmon season was awesome! For several weeks huge schools of salmon followed the vast shoalds of bait into Humboldt Bay on the incoming tides. Most of the chinook ran from 15 to 30 lbs. The best technique was mooching with anchovies, however trollers picked up their share of salmon as did shore casters from the jetties! The large fish in the Trinidad salmon derby is 38lbs (gutted and gilled). Can't wait for the second season to start!
