The Destin reds are still feeding strong. Been catching plenty out by the pass. Took a quick trip over the weekend to see if my brother and I could locate some reds in shallow water... got tired of dropping down baits at the Destin Bridge. Found a school of about 40 on a mud flat up by a creek mouth around noon, when the water started warming up. We through topwater and gulp at them but they didn't even flinch for it so we went to the old faithful...cut mullet. Got a couple of them to bite, one nice 26 1/2" that weighed in just under 8 lbs. The other red was about 6 lbs. We left them alone after that, we'll pay them another visit with some expecting clients. If you can locate a good creek mouth with a mud bottom close by, chances are the reds are near. They are pretty lethargic this time of year so throw out a piece of cut bait or fresh shrimp with a circle hook and just wait for the pull. And since their not around any bridge or jetty structure you can use light tackle for loads of fun.
