Fishing the St Joe Bay this time of year is not as exciting or productive as others ,but you can catch fish. With March here I can still find schools of Redfish although small they are still in the slot. The Trout are on the move as this week we have found small schools of 5 to 10 fish along the edges of what will be grass soon. The sheepshead are plenty. You will find the sheepshead in and on the grass , but if you go sand bottom 5’ to 8’ feet you will catch all you want. The flounder are moving in on a fair scale . You can also pick them up when the sheepshead bite slows on the deeper sand bottoms. The best bait this week has been a white and red grub with a long tail and fiddlers fish finder rigged.
With March here its time to have all your ducks in a row. The fishing is really heating up. Go through all that gear and the boat ,make sure you are ready so when the time comes you just head out. Don’t forget the trailer ! I have had two blowouts this winter , both out of town ,both times I had to buy new spares . I hate changing a tire on the side of the road. Good Luck as always and Have A Safe Trip.
