Port St Joe Area still holding lots of bait and where you find the bait you can find a fish . Warren Bayou although catch and release is the rule for this steam plant canal is stacked up with fish. So if you head over that way remember catch and release. The oil docks is a good spot for trout with a white grub landing as many as you want to pull in. Most of the trout are small but you will have many keepers. Remember to file down that barb it makes release of small fish much easier and less stress on the fish. The Gulf County Canal continues to produce keeper fish. You can expect to catch enough to invite the in-laws over for supper. Your best bet for a sure catch is live shrimp , fished on the bottom with a large enough anchor to hold you down. Apalachicola trout , redfish and blackdrum can be caught along the rivers and bayous using live baits and grubs. With a strong sheepshead bite around the bridges with shrimp. St Marks river still holding redfish and sheepshead in fair numbers if you fish just past the steam plant. Off Shore for gag and flounder most anywhere in the area and you don’t have to travel far. Christmas is just around the corner, if you see Santa please tell him I need a good pair of fishing pliers ! Good luck and have a safe trip Captain Gary (Red) Goodrich |
