Subject: Reports from Clearwater to Hudson Fla.
Now is the time
If you have not been on the water the last week then you have been missing our on some of the best fishing we have had all summer. Redfish, Trout, and Snook have been eating the bottom out of the boat. The biggest surprise was the way the Redfish have shown up in the past few weeks in large numbers, when the tides are right we have been catching 15 to 20 fish on our 6 hour trips with most fish being over the legal limit to keep. Artificial has been doing fine but when they get finicky live bait works well. The Snook have started there migration back to the backwaters from the beaches and seem to be in different places everyday, but when you find them they eat like crazy.
Live bait has worked better for snook but artificials will take their share. If the reds and Snook wont cooperate there are plenty of Trout and Mackerel to fill your time. All you need to do is find a grass flat with good current and set up on the edge, the action will be fast and furious, we caught fish on every cast as long as the tide was flowing. There is not a negative thing to say except the Snook season will open Sept. 1 and these great fish will once again be pursued for the taste rather that there fight. As long as the limits are maintained we should not have a problem though.
At the end of Sept. look for me at the Florida Sportsman Show at the Tampa fair grounds, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I will be at the Pure Fishing booth which will have all the new products from Berkley, Abu Garcia, Fenwick, Mitchell, Spiderwire and Johnson fishing products. Hope to see you there.
