Star Fish Log
9/1 – 9/13

On the last days before the big blow from the NE, Star Fish went South down to the lobster pots and the lobster hole off Atlantic City. The catch was dominated by little tuney (false albacore) with nice surprises from very large bonito and some dorado (mahi-mahi).
After the blow Star Fish went out to see what was on the bottom. We ended up with a catch of about 120 fish in six hours of fishing. These consisted of some nice large black bass, bluefish, used-to-be-keeper fluke, and porgies on the wrecks; weakfish, croakers, and a kingfish drifting in 50 feet of water. We also caught the largest American eel I have ever seen. I was almost 4’ long, and so heavy we had to net it after almost a 30 minute battle.
Looking forward to finding some more nice weakfish in the coming weeks and the beginning of striper season.
