Subject: Fishing Report - York Peninsula
Whiting are scattered at Wallaroo. There was no news of snapper but bay anglers boated garfish, snook, squid and blue crabs. The jetty offered garfish, blueys, yellowfin whiting and occasional visits by schools of salmon and yellowtail kingfish. Salmon were also caught from the marina breakwaters, with garfish, tommies, mullet and bream inside the marina.
There were excellent snapper catches by charter boat crews fishing well out at Port Hughes. Other boats ventured south of Cape Elizabeth for good catches of whiting and mackerel.
Port Victoria had whiting around Green and Goose islands, with a few squid and garfish at the jetty.
Pondalowie Bay held salmon, snook and tommies.
Browns Beach had large tommies and salmon were again caught in the cornere at West Cape.
Boats returned from Althorpe Island with good catches of snapper and nannygai. Trevally were reported near the Troubridge Point cliffs, slimy mackerel on the Clan Ranald wreck, snapper at Port Moorowie and Troubridge Hill, and medium snook on Troubridge Shoal.
Tommies were active at Wool Bay jetty.
Mulloway has been tantalising anglers at Ardrossan jetty. Only a few have been tempted to take bait, fresh squid heads with ink sacks attached being the most successful. The jetty also holds, tommies, garfish and yellowfin whiting. Boat anglers found tommies and garfish.
