Subject: Fishing Report - York Peninsula

Port Augusta has blue crabs widespread, as far upstream as the old bridge. Yellowfin whiting have also arrived in the town's shallows, at the power station and near the shacks.

Weekend boating was a windy non-event at Wallaroo, where the jetty provided blueys, mackerel, garfish, tommies and some anxious moments with yellowtail kingfish.

Port Hughes jetty has plenty of squid and a few garfish and blueys.

Point Turton launchers had to stick close to shore but found heaps of garfish near Point Souttar, where shore casters are also catching them. The jetty is best fished early and late in the day for squid, garfish, large salmon trout and a few kingfish.

Southeasterlies have hampered anglers on the peninsula's eastern side, although Mike Clark scored a bag limit of whiting, plus tommies and mackerel, near Troubridge Island last Wednesday.

There are blue crabs and snapper in deeper water at Price, where other catches included tommies and plenty of garfish.
