Subject: Fishing Report - York Peninsula

Port Pirie crabbers are raving about the size and numbers of blueys currently available. Yellowfin whiting can be found around the creek mouths, with some nice flathead also caught at Fourth Creek. snapper and several yellowtail kingfish were boated on undisclosed local grounds.

The Ballast ground at Wallaroo came to life, with good catches at the weekend. The jetty holds tommies and very big slimy mackerel, while snapper to 55cm and squid were taken from the rocks north of Point Riley.

A club competition at Port Hughes saw snapper caught near Tippara Light, and snook and whiting boated north-west of the light.

Point Turton has a few whiting in the bay, and boat limit catches were taken by those who ventured further afield to The Banks. The jetty provided garfish, tommies and squid.
