I am looking for information on lakes close to the Songtan (Osan AB) area, if anyone knows where I can get maps, or directions and information on fishing for bass here I would really appreciate it.

Since American Bass were introduced to a few select South Korean ponds in the 1970's they have spread far-and-wide to the majority of fresh-water streams, lakes, and ponds that literally cover South Korea. The funny thing is, on any given day the banks of most fish-producing waterways are covered with Korean anglers, sitting under brightly-colored umbrellas and fishing for carp. The Bass has become nothing short of a nuisance to most locals as they feed on the many indigeneous "prized" species with few exceptions. I find it ironic that what we Yanks prize Bass as a top game fish and mostly consider carp to be a trash fish. It's just the opposite over here. There are however, many S. Koreans getting into Bass'n, evident in most tackle shops where you can buy bullet weights, plastic worms, spinner-baits and the like. There is very little regulation of fishing in Korea and no license required. With few exceptions, access to prime casting areas is unrestricted on public waterways, and there are also thousands of pay-as-you-go private lakes featuring bass, rainbow trout, and of course, carp.
