Lake Lavon
Water Temperature: 77 - 84 Water Clarity: 1 ½’
This report is a few days late and I will get better at having them out a little earlier. Especially since I do have a few more trips on Lavon this coming week. Anyway, I had a ½ day trip Thursday morning with new customer Mike Merriwether. We caught our fish on pop’r and Gene Larew Mega Tube Rings (green pumpkin). Lake Lavon is in great shape and with the cover that is offered right now its no wonder why we catch the size of fish that we did, we had 1 fish over 7 pounds and one fish almost 7 pounds. Our fish came from 1 to 4 feet of water fishing the creek channel ledges in the coves that have plenty of cover to offer. This lake can really produce some quality fish, so don’t think that it doesn’t have any. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report “Thank you” I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!
If I can be of more help or assistance regarding a trip or “Bassin’ Class” please contact me at 972-414-5189 / 800-965-0350 or by e-mail at FISHWJEFF@msn.com. The “Fat Girls” page http://www.fishinwithjeff.com is up and being updated weekly so that you can see the size of fish we’re catching, all the fish that are on the “Fat Girls” under 2002 are fish that have been caught this year. There you can receive more information on my full-time guide service. The next beginner/intermediate “Bassin’Class” will be on August 24th. The advanced class is scheduled for June 22nd & the next advanced class will be August 31st with seats available for all three classes. The cost for either class is $75.00 for adults & $35.00 for kids through high school and includes a $25.00 deposit. So, give me a call and lets get you hooked on to that “Fat Girl!”
* Gift certificates are available!!!
It’s that time of year to start looking at your calendar for guide trips for this summer. So don’t kid yourself into thinking you can’t catch that fish of a life-time, because you really can. If I can be of assistance with a guide trip this Summer or for any tournament on Lake Fork or Lake Lavon give me a call. Also, its that time of year to be thinking about a trip to Lake Lavon for some fun-filled fast sand bass (white bass) action for all of June & July, it’s a great way to introduce your family members or business clients to the fun of fishing. The earlier you book your date the easier it will be to get the date(s) you want. I have plenty of dates available for the summer. Also, even though July and August are the hot months here in Texas we can get around that by either starting earlier in the morning or do split-day trips, by doing the split-day you get the best of both the early and late bites. Until next time………GOOD LUCK & TIGHT-LINES!!!

Lake Lavon

I had a ½ day trip Saturday afternoon with repeat customer Don Morgan and his son. We caught our fish on Lockhart white & white/chartreuse spinnerbaits and chartreuse Bandit crankbaits. Our fish came from 1 to 9 feet of water fishing the creek channel ledges in the coves and off main lake points. Lake Lavon looks to be around 8 or 9 feet low. This lake can really produce some quality fish for me in the fall. We caught 3 fish over 5lbs. and had one of those just over 7 pounds. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report “Thank you” I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

The “Fat Girls” are up and can be seen at http://www.fishinwithjeff.com and you can receive more information on my full-time guide service & "Bassin' Class." I am currently booking trips for this up-coming Spring and the fall is my most favorite time of the year to fish. So give me a call and lets go! Lavon has an abundance of crappie, bass & sand bass. The sand bass fishing is a great way to entertain customers, new fishermen & kids! The next “Bassin’ Class” is scheduled for December 8th, the cost is $75.00 for adults & $35.00 for students through high school including a $25.00 deposit and will be held at my home in Sachse. Lake Lavon
Water Temperature: 85 - 90 Water Clarity: 3’
I had a ½ day trip today, Tuesday, on Lake Lavon with Steve Bogart and his Father-in-law. We caught 12 bass up to 3 pounds and caught another dozen or so sand bass while we were bass fishing. Early on we caught our fish on Lockhart white, chartreuse and white/chartreuse buzz-baits. Then we switched over to Lockhart spinnerbaits in the same colors. As we moved out to 8 to 10 feet of water we threw Bandit splatterback crankbaits. We caught fish every place we stopped to fish. As we were fishing with our spinnerbaits two small schools of sand bass came up right at the boat. I’m sure had we been fishing for the sand bass we could have caught many more. Lake Lavon is 5 to 6 feet low, considering August is just about over the lake is in great condition. This summer has been one of the mildest of summers I can remember in recent years. Normally, Lavon is 7 feet or more low by this time and every lake is in critical condition. I am very glad that El Nino’ and La Nina’ are over and I’m sure the fish are too! For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Lake Lavon
Water Temperature: 89 - 94 Water Clarity: 3’
I have had several guide trips on Lake Lavon this week starting with Bob Shaw & his son on Sunday. Monday, I had repeat customer Ronnie McGranahan. Tuesday, Mike Hall & his son. Then on Wednesday, I fished with repeat customer Alan Gustavson. Some of these trips were both bass and sand bass trips, while others were just bass trips. It seems I have lost the topwater bite with the bass. Every morning we started except for the last morning of the past four days we threw buzz-baits and pop’r without any success. We did catch a good number of fish on Lockhart chartreuse/white spinnerbaits. After I figured the fish had plenty of time to hit our topwaters we’d switch over to using spinnerbaits and the fish would begin to bite for us. The other baits that were consistent were the Lockhart white jig tipped with a Gene Larew white salt chunk and a Texas-rigged pumpkin or red shad worm. Three of the fish we caught this week were well over 6lbs. and one just over 7 pounds. The sand bass bite has changed a little over this past week. The fish are no longer along the points and banks but are right out in the middle of the lake. They are also schooling later in the morning, like 9:30am. We caught them on Lockhart Chuck-n-spins and Blakemore roadrunners in white and chartreuse. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Fished a ½ day on Monday with customer Greg LeMay and then another ½ day on Tuesday with John Franz and his son. On Monday, this was a bass trip, we started off using Lockhart white buzz-baits because of the high winds and put three in the boat then after that the Drop-shot rig & Carolina-rig put the remaining fish for the morning on the ends of our lines. Fishing these rigs from about 6 to 18 feet deep. The fish appeared to be really stretched out for us. We used Genen Larew salt frys in the colors of black/blue and chartreuse pepper. Then on Tuesday, I was really expecting to load the boat with sand bass. We had good cloud cover and the fish began to come to the surface and as soon as they got there they were gone. It was that way all over the lake. We caught fish but nothing like I wanted too. We caught them on Lockhart Chuck-n-spins and Blakemore roadrunners in white and chartreuse. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Fished a full day trip today (Monday) with repeat customer Ronnie McGranahan. All in all, this was not a bad day on the water. We caught 54 fish. However, only 9 of those were bass. The others were sandies. I’m sure we could have caught many more sand bass if we had actually gone fishing for them. As for the bass, we caught them on everything we threw and should have had more bass but we both missed 6 or so bites. Early on we caught our fish on pop’r. Then switched over to Bandit crank baits, the best color was pearl white/chartreuse. We also caught fish on Gene Larew pumpkin, motor oil & blue fleck Texas-rigged worms. There is also a jig bite, we caught two very fat fish on black/blue Lockhart jigs tipped with a black/blue G.L. salt chunk. The sand bass we caught were brought in by Blakemore chartreuse Road Runners. Our bass were caught in 4 to 9 feet of water and 7 of the 9 were keeper fish up to 3½ pounds. As for the sandies, those just popped up around us or we noticed them as we moved from spot to spot. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Lake Lavon

I fished a 1/2 day with repeat customer Jason Sincleair yesterday (Tuesday)and we caught 14. As I have been saying for several years now Fall is my most favorite time of the year to fish Lake Lavon. We only caught one dink in all the fish we caught. Our fish came from fishing rip-rap and stumps. Around the rip-rap we threw Bandit chartreuse crankbaits and in the stumps that were in water 2 to 8 feet deep we pitch Lockhart black/blue jigs with Gene Larew salt chunks to match. Our two best fish were in the 6 and 7 pound weights. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report “Thank you” I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Upon completion of the class you receive a $25.00 discount towards a full day guide trip with me and a tackle pack. The first scheduled “Bassin’ Class” for 2001 is January 27th. Water Temperature: 73 Water Clarity: 6"
Fished a ½ day trip today (Monday) with Jim Rohrer & his brother Ralph. We caught 13 bass, only 1 of those would not have kept and well over 70 healthy sand (white) bass. Our bass were caught on Bandit chartreuse crankbaits and Gene Larew Texas-rigged red shad worms. All of our bass came from 4 to 7 feet of water fishing secondary points with stumps. The fish bit so well today that I really wish I had fished the tournament on Sunday. I really feel like fishing will only become better as the water cools. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Lake Lavon
Water Temperature: 68 Water Clarity: 6"
I fished a full day today (Thursday) on Lake Lavon for the first time in a while with Milt Commons & his son-in-law Jim. We caught 16 fish. Early on it seemed like they were going to hit everything we threw at them and then it STOPPED! We caught 7 keeper fish up to 4 pounds in about an hour's time and then the bottom fell-out. Those seven fish hit chrome/black Rattletraps, chartreuse Bandit crankbaits and Lockhart chartreuse/white spinnerbaits. After about 8:15am we only had 1 more fish before leaving for lunch. After lunch it was a little better, we had several 3's and 4's and everyone of them came out 3 feet of water or less and were hanging so tight to the cover that we were actually trying to hang-up to the stumps. As for a plastics bite the wind was just too high. The lake has either turnover or is beginning to turnover. I really can't tell because only some of the areas that we fished looked bad or even good. I really feel like fishing will only become better as the water cools. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

First of I need to apologize for not writing a report on Lake Lavon last week even though I had a trip and will include today's (Tuesday) trip in this report since I do know that the pattern on the Black Bass has not changed. Last Tuesday, I fished with Sheldon Vic and his son and the strong East wind made for a very difficult day on the water. We finished with 7 solid fish. Our fish came on Lockhart white/chartreuse spinnerbaits and with such a strong wind the only thing I knew for us to do was to stay on the east banks to stay with anykind of bite. Today, I fished a ½ day trip with Matlock Rose and his friend Buddy and they took home 48 keeper crappie. I figure we caught somewhere around 75 or so on minnows and Blakemore jigs, fished in 10 to 16 feet of water. For all of you who fished with me and are mentioned in this report "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you all again in the future!

Lake Lavon

Fishing on Lake Lavon was not too bad today, Wednesday. I fished a ½ day trip with Sergio Skidonenko and we caught 7. Seven this time of year is not too bad we had more keepers than we did small fish and Sergio had a good fish wrap him up. We started off with pop r’s and then moved to Lockhart chartreuse/white spinnerbaits. After it appeared that our shallow bite was giving up we headed towards deeper water on main lake points and fished the 1st break-lines on main lake banks. If we had caught every fish that bite we would have had somewhere around 20 fish. Seems that they were just playing with the bait. We never put another fish in the boat after 9am., but did get bit at every stop we made. Lavon appears to holding its own, it doesn’t look like the water is dropping very fast. Sergio, “Thank you” I look forward to fishing with you again in the future!
