Any word lately on striper fishing in the reservoir or forebay? I'm thinking of spending a couple of days there, but I've heard lately that it's been slow...

Will,

San Luis Reservoir is not in San Luis Obispo. Depending where you coming from, it's located in Central California, along Highway 152, about 95 miles south of San Jose, & 1.5 hours drive (where I'm coming from). It's between Los Banos & Gilroy. A great fishing location and very well known for stripers. It has the upper Basalt area where the Dam is and Oneill forebay, the lower portion. People fish under the "bridge" on highway 152 where large stripers to 40+ lbs are caught especially at night or the wee hours of the morning. Access for campgrounds, swimming beaches and boat launch ramps. Try this number for info: 209-826-1196
