Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
Farm Beach whiting catches are improving, with the larger fish biting best in the afternoon. Trevally are plentiful around the reefs and garfish numbers are building around the Sticks and Point Sir Isaacs.
Sand crabs can be caught around Point Longnose, and big schools of salmon have been spotted between Point sir Isaacs and Reef Point.
At Port Lincoln, whiting can be found in Spalding Cove, Proper Bay and Thorny Passage. The town jetties are producing small snook, and the marina still holds yellowtail kingfish. Squid, snook, salmon. Whiting were boated around Boston Island, with snapper caught near Donnington Rock.

Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
Venus Bay has whiting throughout. The jetty also has squid and tommies, but the trevally run is unusually late this summer. Other boat catches included salmon trout, tommies, squid and garfish.
There were mixed catches of garfish salmon trout, whiting and trevally at Frenchman.
Farm Beach has garfish, trevally and whiting.
Tommies, squid, snook and garfish came from the jetty and breakwater at Port Neill, with salmon to 1.8kg and yellowfin whiting along local beaches. Snapper are biting north of the town.

Elliston jetty holds snook, garfish and tommies, with plenty of trevally coming from the shoreline around the bay.
Locks Well is still very good for salmon to 2.5kg with similar sizes at Almonta and Gunya.
Port Lincoln has tommies, trevally and mackerel from the main wharf along with a few snapper. Whiting are near the monument at Spalding Cove, with garfish in Proper, Peak and Moonlight Bays.
There are salmon trout in Second Creek at Tumby Bay, whiting and garfish behind Tumby Island and whiting on the Hospital ground.

Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
Locks Well is really firing with salmon to 3kg and good numbers of tommies and trevally.
Convention Beach also has salmon and tommies and good salmon catches were again reported from Almonta and Gunyah beaches.
Jetty anglers found tommies, squid and snook at Elliston, while nearby Salmon Point provided whiting, sweep and trevally.
Yellowtail Kingfish have excited anglers at Port Lincoln lately, turning up in Proper Bay, around Boston Island, at the town jetty and wharf and even in the marina.
Early morning anglers at Port Neill are catching salmon from the breakwater and yellowtail whiting from local beaches. The jetty has tommies, squid, garfish and snook, but there were no boats launched due to the weather.

Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
There are still a few snapper in the shipping channel at Ceduna where whiting anglers are struggling to get past countless trumpeters. Blue crabs are improving and should peak in numbers soon and there are a few garfish and snook around. All jetties in the area are producing squid early and late in the day.
Smoky Bay launchers are catching whiting in the bay and around Eyre Island on calmer days, while jetty triers found squid, big tommies and snook.
Locks Well has salmon along with trevally and big tommies, while Sheringa offers whiting from the first beach, salmon from the surf beaches and sweep from the rocks.
Salmon and tommies are biting at Port Lincoln's main wharf. Whiting and garfish were boated in Spalding Cove, near the monument, and in Proper Bay towards Tulka. There are plenty of snook around Boston Island and squid at Louth Bay jetty, Billy Lights Point and the town jetty.
Port Neill has large salmon around Lipson Island, better whiting catches north of the town, and mixed boat catches elsewhere of salmon, snook, tommies and garfish. The jetty holds snook, tommies and squid.

Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
Venus Bay continues to provide mixed bags of whiting, salmon trout and tommies, with salmon trout, tommies and flathead at nearby Mt Camel.
Jetty anglers at Elliston took good hauls of squid, tommies, garfish and trevally,
Locks Well offered reasonable numbers of salmon, while Sheringa holds salmon and large sweep.
Farm Beach whiting sizes are improving, and there are mixed bags of garfish, squid, snook and mackerel.
Coffin Bay has garfish, tommies and salmon trout. There are snook on the tapeweed grounds. Small to medium snook are plentiful in the bay and around the islands at Port Lincoln, with snapper south of The Group.
Arno Bay visitors caught yellowfin whiting at Redbanks and Turnbulls, with squid, tommies and occasional snook at the jetty. Boat anglers found snook, whiting and garfish on grounds north and south of the town.

Whiting and mullet have been biting from the shore to Anxious Bay, while some large salmon to 4.75kg were beached at Locks Well.
There are plenty of salmon at Convention Beach and Coles Point, along with bronze whaler sharks.
Coffin Bay has snook in the bays and on the tape weed grounds, and salmon trout around the islands.
Port Lincoln has big trevally in the marina, and tommies and snook in the bay.

Boat anglers are catching plenty of garfish, whiting and snook at Smokey Bay but there was little news from the jetty.
Port Licoln has large salmon at Millers Hole and Salmon Hole. Whiting were boated near the airport sandhills, North Shore, Porter Bay, Tulka and Spalding Cove.
The first tuna pen of the season was towed into Boston Bay this week, hopefully bringing some following fish.
There were snook, tommies and squid at the town jetty, tommies, mackerel and salmon at the wharf, and trevally, tommies and salmon at the marina.
Arno Bay offered plenty of whiting and snook at Redbanks and Poverty Bay. Tommies were the main jetty catch, while yellowfin whiting were caught at Turnbulls Beach and Arno Bay.

Elliston jetty again produced tommies and some large squid, along with whiting from the shores of Waterloo and Anxious bays.
Salmon were quiet at Locks Well, but Sheringa, Almonta and Gunyah beaches all yielded medium to large fish.
Farm Beach had good whiting on deeper grounds but the inshore fish are small.
Apart from the jetty at Coffin Bay, whiting were also active from the rocks near the boat ramp.
Port Lincoln offers salmon and large tommies along the south coast, with snapper in Thorny Passage and along North Shore.
The main wharf has tommies, salmon trout and also small trevally.
Snapper catches have improved both north and south of the town at Port Neill, particularly at Burns Beach. Boat catches included snook, tommies and a few large whiting.

Snook, including some whoppers, were caught from Elliston jetty, along with plenty of tommies at night.
There are a few whiting in the Waterloo Bay shallows, and trevally can be found nearby at Salmon Hole.
Mt Camel and Locks Well have small to medium salmon, with better sizes being found at Convention Beach and Almonta. Large fish to 4kg came from Port Lincoln's south coast.
Farm Beach boaties found small whiting along the sandhills and larger specimens out deep on the fence line grounds.
Port Lincoln has had squid in Louth Bay and some large whiting for land-based anglers along North Shore.
Tumby Bay had tommies at the jetty and salmon trout in Second Creek.
Boat crews at Port Neill caught whiting and snapper before Sunday's storm, while the jetty and breakwater again provided squid and tommies.
There have been reasonable numbers of whiting around the Fairway Beacon at Cowell, where snook catches have also been improving. Tommies have been biting at the jetty

Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
Michael Jackson from Ingle Farm won the latest $200 mystery weight prize in Elliston's winter salmon competition, and the $1500 heaviest fish winner will be announced next week.
Locks Well slowed for salmon after plenty of action early last week.
Sheringa held mainly mullet and large tommies, with salmon, tommies and mullet at Convention Beach.
A few larger salmon came from Almonta and Gunyah beaches, while Farm Beach yielded bag limit whiting catches from The Sticks. Beach access has been poor, with most boats launched by tractors.
The town jetty at Port Lincoln turned on yellowtail kingfish, large salmon and yellowfin whiting, with squid from the Kirton Point jetty and good salmon on high tides along the south coast.
Tommies and squid can be caught from the jetties at Tumby Bay and Port Neill.

Elliston jetty is reliable for tommies at night, and there are plenty of trevally nearby at Salmon Point.
Salmon catches have improved at Locks Well, and there are salmon, mullet and large tommies at Convention Beach.
Almonta and Gunyah are still firing for salmon, likewise at Port Lincoln from Billy Lights Point and Millers Hole.
Yellowfin whiting are plentiful along the foreshore at Port Lincoln, with occasional runs of salmon trout at the main wharf.
Tumby Bay has salmon of more than a kilogram in the Second Creek area, with the best catches coming from the upper reaches of the channels. The jetty has squid during the day, joined by tommies at night.
There are mullet on most beaches between Tumby Bay and Port Neill, and small schools of salmon in Lipson Cove.

Talia, Mt Camel and Locks Well beaches have been providing mullet, tommies and salmon trout, with tommies and snook at night from Elliston jetty.
Schools of small salmon have been in Waterloo Bay and at Point Labbatt. Larger salmon were landed at Almonta, Gunyah and along Port Lincoln's south coast.
Whiting catches were well spread in the Farm Beach area, and along the Mt Dutton Bay shoreline.
Port Lincoln's main wharf has had tommies early mornings and salmon trout during the day. Yellowfin whiting have been found along the foreshore and from the town jetty, while yellowtail kingfish were spotted in Proper Bay and around Boston Island.
Tumby Bay has a few whiting along the sandhills and salmon at Second Creek.
Snook and squid have been active at Port Neill jetty, but tommies were scarce.

Venus Bay has tommies at the jetty and good whiting in the bay.
Mt Camel and Talia provided mainly small salmon.
Farm Beach is still good for whiting, but weed has built up at the ramp and crews are launching instead at Coffin Bay or Little Douglas. Whiting were also caught in Coffin Bay, from the rocks and in the town area.
Port Lincoln has salmon along the south coast, also at Billy Lights Point and the shipyards. There are flathead in the shallows and whiting and squid in Thorny Passage.
Tumby Bay anglers sheltered in the marina, catching a feed of mullet, salmon trout and flathead. The jetty has tommies and squid. A few boats ventured out at Port Neill for whiting and occasional snapper on northern grounds, with mullet and yellowfin whiting along northern beaches.

Large tommies and salmon of mixed sizes to 3kg have been active at Mt Camel, while Elliston jetty is good for tommies at night.
Locks Well has big tommies close to the shore, while salmon to very large sizes can be found at Almonta and Gunyah.
Farm Beach whiting bit well over the full moon period and catches are also improving within Coffin Bay.
Port Lincoln has big salmon around Billy Lights Point and along the south coast. The main wharf offers a few tommies and squid and there are some whiting around Taylors Landing.
Tumby Bay has whiting on the Ballast and Sandhill grounds and large tommies at the jetty after dark.
Local beaches at Port Neill are providing yellowfin whiting and mullet and there are plenty of yellowfin in the bay at Cowell.
Arno Bay reported good catches of snapper and scattered schools of whiting. From the shore, yellowfin, salmon trout and mullet are in the estuary, with tommies and squid at the jetty.
Whyalla's Stephen Heron is the latest $200 weekly winner in the mystery weight section of Elliston's winter salmon competition.

Large squid to over a kilogram have been active at Ceduna jetty, while Venus Bay jetty holds squid and plenty of tommies.
Keen jetty anglers are also catching large numbers of tommies at night at Elliston, while daylight hours are providing trevally nearby at Salmon Point.
There were mixed reports from Farm Beach, where boat launching is still a problem due to seaweed buildup at the ramp. Nearby, Coffin Bay and Dutton Bay both yielded good hauls of whiting for shore and boat anglers.
Port Lincoln's main wharf has tommies and occasional snapper, while squid can be found in the bay and from the town and Kirton Point jetties.
There were big schools of salmon at Tumby Bay, where Second Creek, Rogers Beach and Lipson Cove were the most productive areas.
The jetty has good tommies late afternoon and into evening. Port Neill jetty offers squid by day and tommies at night, while mullet and yellowfin whiting are available from the local beaches.

With the big salmon competition looming, small numbers of large fish were beached at Locks Well. Mt Camel produced smaller salmon and large mullet and tommies.
Whiting within Venus Bay are patchy but of very good size, while salmon trout and tommies are plentiful.
Whiting catches have really improved in size and numbers at Coffin Bay, and salmon trout can be readily caught at The Brothers.
Port Lincoln has just enough yellowfin whiting and mullet along the foreshore to warrant the effort, while boat crews took some excellent whiting hauls in Thorny Passage.

Surf anglers fishing Far West Coast beaches are catching small mulloway and plenty of bronze whaler sharks.
Locks Well turned on big mullet, tommies and trevally, with salmon catches best early mornings. Almonta and Gunyah provided salmon on the top of poor weekend tides.
Port Lincoln has yellowfin and King George whiting from the town jetty and in front of the silos. Tommies and squid were caught near Murray's Point in the evenings and good catches of whiting came from Proper Bay and Spalding Cove.
Tumby Bay has plenty of tommies and mullet along the beaches and rocks around Lipson Cove. Jetty and boat anglers are catching good numbers of snook, but whiting are scarce.

Ceduna still offers fair catches of whiting, snook, tommies and crabs in the bay, and a few snapper on the Community Patch. The jetties hold a mixture of squid, snook, tommies and crabs.
Shore and boat anglers have been catching whiting in Anxious Bay, with whiting also improving at Farm Beach.
Locks Well produced mixed-sized salmon up to a whopping 6kg, while there were whiting, garfish, salmon trout, tommies and mullet at Frenchmans.
Coffin Bay has a few snapper in the channel, and whiting, garfish, tommies and salmon trout around the Brothers. Early mornings are best for salmon, snook and snapper from the main wharf at Port Lincoln, likewise for snook, tommies and squid from the town jetty. There are trevally, tommies and just-legal kingfish in the marina. Garfish and whiting were boated in Proper Bay and there are salmon around the northern entrance to Boston Bay.

Venus Bay anglers are catching whiting, salmon trout and tommies in the bay, with snook, whiting, squid and tommies at the jetty. Nearby Mt Camel offers small salmon and large tommies.
Salmon are also active in the bay at Port Lincoln, taking trolled lures readily, while the main wharf has snapper and salmon. Garfish are plentiful around Boston Island and there are large whiting at the Point Bolingbroke area.
Tumby Bay has tommies and snook from the jetty, and salmon at Second Creek. Boats returned with plenty of snook and a few whiting. Mullet and yellowfin whiting are spread along the beaches at Port Neill, with salmon south of the town. Snook are readily available for boat anglers but snapper and whiting are patchy.
The creek at Arno Bay has mullet and yellowfin whiting and tommies, garfish and a few squid at the jetty.

Subject: Fishing Report - Eyre peninsula & West Coast
Luch Demarchi won't forget Easter 2002 in a hurry, winning $2,500, a magnificent trophy and a Hummingbird Fishfinder in the Annual Australian Amateur Snapper Fishing championship at Whyalla.
Luch who is from Port Augusta, caught the biggest fish at 14.84kg with Simon Newman not far behind on 14.22kg. Third prize went to Paul Downard from Victoria, whose 13.6kg also earned him the Steve North Memorial Award for the biggest snapper caught by an interstate competitor.
Victoria's Rachel Carter had the largest snapper caught by a woman at 10.4kg, while another Victorian David Barry, topped the juniors at 8.48kg.
The event's 753 competitors came from as far away as Mt Isa to fish, sharing in numerous prizes spread over several other species besides snapper.
Locks Well was crowded with Easter anglers and produced small numbers of salmon to 3kg, plus large tommies, mullet, trevally and flathead.
Sheringa had tommies, mullet, whiting and flathead from the first beach, while Convention Beach yielded salmon, mullet and large tommies.
Boats working well out at Farm Beach returned with snapper, nannygai, swallowtail and barracouta, while inshore there were garfish and sand crabs around Point Longnose, and whiting north of the boatramp. A few snapper to over 13kg were caught by land-based anglers in Coffin Bay.
Port Lincoln turned on salmon, tommies and trevally at the main wharf, and yellowtail kingfish, trevally, snook and tommies in the marina. There were small pockets of whiting in Proper Bay and Spalding Cove, and a few snapper and whiting along North Shore.
Snook were active from the town jetty at night; yellowfin whiting and mullet are building in numbers along the foreshore and a few bluefin tuna to over 35kg were boated behind Boston Island.

Salmon schools were spotted at Locks Well and Sheringa, with medium-size fish biting at Almonta and Gunyah beaches. Rock anglers at Frenchman caught salmon trout, trevally and whiting, with good catches of whiting for boat anglers in the same area.
Kellidie Bay holds plenty of garfish, tommies, salmon trout and a few snook, with garfish, whiting and snapper in neighbouring Coffin Bay.
Snook of all sizes are in the bays at Port Lincoln. There are mullet and a few yellowfin whiting along the foreshore and good numbers of salmon at the main wharf. Salmon, tommies and garfish were active around Billy Lights Point and the shipyards.
Port Neill jetty and breakwater offer tommies, snook and a few squid, while boat crews are returning with a few snapper and large whiting.

Farm Beach crews have had to work for mixed bags of whiting, garfish, tommies and trevally, with trumpeters often providing a problem.
Port Lincoln has plenty of snook for shore and boat anglers, along with some salmon and barracouta.
Whiting can be found in Spalding Cove and Proper Bay, with snapper on the offshore lumps and at Cape Donnington at night.

Snapper are still biting offshore at Port Broughton, with garfish, salmon trout, blue crabs and plenty of trumpeters inshore.
Wallaroo has blue crabs at the jetty in the bay, at Bird Island and at Tickera. Garfish and snook were also boated in the bay but yellowfin kingfish have kept garfish away from the jetty, which has tommies and snook early and late in the day. The marina provided bream and salmon trout.
Port Victoria has plenty of whiting and some large snook inside Wardang Island, with tommies, garfish and squid at the jetty.
Two large samson fish were boated not far out from Pondalowie Bay by a local angler, and the bay holds salmon and mullet for shore anglers.
Mullet were also caught at Dolphin Bay and Penguin Point at Marion Bay where one boat crew caught their limit of whiting out from Hillocks Point.

My brother Brenton and I struggled against wind and waves at Ceduna, but still returned home with a good haul of whiting, big tommies and blue crabs. Our best whiting catches came from the berry weed grounds towards St Peter Island, while a visiting Victorian angler boated a 54cm whopper just 100m out from Ceduna jetty.
Locks Well was again quiet for salmon, but Almonta produced plenty of fish on the weekend.
Farm Beach launchers caught plenty of garfish, flathead and some big trevally to 4kg at Seven Mile Beach.
Coffin Bay has trevally, salmon trout and tommies, around The Brothers, with whiting and snook on the tape weed grounds, plus a few good snapper in the main channel.
Port Lincoln's jetties hold large snook and there are mullet along the foreshore. Good catches of whiting are coming from Proper Bay and Spalding Cove, and there are salmon and bronze whaler sharks at Millers Hole.
