Great Fish last thursday. Lots of Tuna and mahi, no sails or marlins. July may not be a great month but it can be very funny and interesting. Hot Spots are not very far. Inside the bay can be found Tunas of 50s lb and mahi of 20 lb. hope tomorrow will catch bigger fish.

What a disappointment! Found out today that there are 60 pangas that fish out of here. They each set out 100 plus hooks and keep eveything that they catch. Then the local sportfishing guys enjoy bringing in everything they catch. Saw two blue marlin caught today over 200 lbs. Next week is the 16th Club de Barra de Navidad, A.C. annual kill tourney. All for a new car!!!! All boats are allow to weight in 3 sailfish, 3 blue marlin 6 doradoes, 9 tuna!

Fishing's shot in Barra, thanks to unlimited 'longlining' by outlaw Pangas...fished out 3 years ago...no mas Tuna, Dorado, Marlin. I gave up and now go to Z/I, down the coast another 30 mins by air (Alaska's in and out daily). Outstanding Sail Fish fishing, with counts in double digits from Dec-April..also Roosterfish in late Fall-early Winter. Lots of good captains, rate around $175/day, all in.

Subject: barra fishing

Normally the best fishing in Barra will begin late in October and continue through April, but a friend vacationed at our place there in July. He went out with Enrique Figueroa and caught 13 yellowfin in the 30 lb class.
