Hey Dave, not much action on this board. for SB charters call Sea Landing 805-963-3564 they do Tuna trips occasionally, but not this time of year, wait till Fall for the Albacore. Rockfish is the only game in town right now, maybe some Bass. with warmer water temps the Bari's and Bones may show soon www.stardustsportfishing.com has daily counts |

I understand there are some Bonito being caught at the oil rigs. Sounds good I'm In!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whats the deal boys share the information. If you run out of things to do go up to PSL, then up the coast about 6 miles and do some great rockcod fishing,I know its not your favorite kind of fishing, but after October it may be the last of it. Hows the fishing been in SB? No new posts? I went out last week off Leadbetter and caught a few small jack smelts and a perch fishing in about 15 feet - nothing too exciting but fun anyway. This is the first time I have been in a while and the bait tank didnt work so I had to use Squid. |

Gull Island and the Potato Patch produced some great reds along with lots of whitefish today. The closure areas must be loaded!!?? Pretty nasty conditions though, even compared to PSL waters. |

surfrunr, there have been some Salmon caught here. Nearly all of them have been caught between Rincon and Rock Island in 130-170 feet of water, anywhere from 70-100 feet down. Majority of fish have been caught on rotary killers behind flashers. The grade of fish has been nice as well, about 16 lbs. on average with the biggest going 28lbs! Go get 'em. Adam W. 3 confirmed Salmon catches as of 12pm Sunday. My friend has a 15lber, the other 2 were caught by a local PB and went 14# & 18#. The latter also had a 3rd knockdown. These fish were caught over 150-170 feet, 100 feet OTW just outside and east of the row of 3 rigs (Henry, Houchin, and Hogan, west to east). All fish were caught on rotary killers. Very little bait presence in the area apparently, but we'd rather catch salmon than bait right?! Let's go get 'em. Adam W. Santa Barbara |

Nada yet. Heard of 1 fish caught on Sunday near Rock Island although this is unconfirmed. Give it a little time, our area is usually good for a least a few fish by May. Good luck this weekend, be the one who finds them! |

I have a mercruiser 260 outdrive w/ a recent rebuild on top half and a blown bottom end. This is what is refered to as a "late model 1". I could use about $150.00 bucks for beer & bait. Contact me at 805 331-5415. |

Went King Salmon fishing with Steve "sbabcock_20", Dave "night8hawk" and Jim "salmonlurker" aboard Steve's luxurious 20ft Trophy "FISH ON IT". For a boat that is less than one year old, that friggin' vessel has been a very cost-effective fish catching machine. We launched out of Santa Barbara at 5:30am and went out in about 190ft of water off the Lighthouse. We were using two Cannon Uni-Troll downriggers that we borrowed from Mr. Gracious aka Brad "NoLDR". Thank a million Brad for letting use your gear. I still had the gimbal mounts for the downriggers that I bought 2 years ago when we had the last good run on Salmon in the northern SoCal Bite. We started trolling with 2 rods on each downrigger. One downrigger had a red salmon rotary killer at 155ft and a White Flutter Spoon aka "Danny Special" at 110ft. The other downrigger had a 2.25 oz White/Green Mackerel Kroc set at 160ft and a chartreuse salmon rotary killer at 100ft. After trolling for 1 1/2 hours we finally got a double hook in 160ft of water on the deep rods. I grab one rod and Steve grabbed the other. After a short little tussle we got both the fish in the boat. Steve's fish weighed 14.75 pounds and the one I pulled in weighed 19.5 pounds. That was Steve's first time to catch a Salmon. Congratulation Steve!! It's just a shame that he opted not to eat the heart of his first King Salmon. Hopefully the Salmon gods won't put the "Mediocre Salmon Catching" jinx on him for the next 50 years. LOL!! Jim did the honors of taking the pictures. Jim works at Olympic Boats in Canoga Park, give him a call if you're in the market for a new or used boat. It's shameless plug I know, but he's a nice fellow with integrity who will go the extra-mile to make sure his clients get the best value for their dollar. Here are the pictures of the double hook-up Salmon that we caught. Yumyum!! http://www.momentoffame.com/snapshots/MomentOfFame/l78194.jpg My Salmon became very restless and anxious in the next photo. He put up a good shake. http://www.momentoffame.com/snapshots/MomentOfFame/l78195.jpg We trolled the rest of the day until 3:30 without catching or hooking another Salmon. We talked to the vessels "Bait Some", "Blue Duck" and "Grey Light" while we were out trolling. We spoke to Stuart on the "Greylight" and he caught a nice 19 pounder around 1pm off of Goleta Pier in 200ft of water at 90 ft down on a salmon rotary killer. Good going Stuart. I also heard Cpt. Dave Bacon on the "Wavewalker" talking about a big fish that he caught off Mora Mesa in 175ft of water at 150 ft down. Had a great time on the water even though we didn't get limits. Can't wait to give it another try in the near future. I sure hope more fish move into the area before the water gets too warm. Tight Lines!! |
