Subject: Fishing Report - South East

Snapper have been boated at Pelican Point and caught from the shore at Orwells Rocks.

Whiting, salmon trout and trevally have been active inside the breakwater at Port MacDonnell.

Glenelg River has mulloway to 4kg in the estuary and some larger specimens in the caves area. Bream are plentiful but mostly undersize in the river, and some big mullet are biting.

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

Snapper to 3.8kg were boated at Green Point and Danger Point, while gummy sharks were biting between Nene Valley and Blackfellows Caves.

One crew caught whiting to 45cm at Pelican Point on Saturday, and school mulloway can be found from Browns Bay to the Glenelg River mouth.

Port McDonnell jetty has tommies under the lights at night, while a number of anglers ventured across to Portland last week for plenty of fun with kingfish to 9kg.

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

Snapper to 3kg were boated at Green Point and Blackfellows Caves, while Livingstones and Orwells Rocks yielded large garfish.

A 17kg mulloway was caught from a boat at Danger Point, and big salmon were found outside the Port MacDonnell breakwater on Saturday.

Mulloway were to 4.5kg were active in the Glenelg River estuary on Sunday night, while large bream and estuary perch grabbed lures at Wilsons Hall.

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

Windy weather saw plenty of whiting and salmon trout boated inside the breakwater at Port McDonnell, where the jetty turned on tommies and squid on Sunday night.

Mulloway of just legal size were beached at Brown Bay, while one angler fishing from a Kayak caught some huge whiting at Lighthouse Bay, only to lose the lot when his craft overturned.

Port MacDonnell is still the place to go for salmon, with fish to a kilogram inside the breakwater and much larger specimens on the outside.

There are plenty of big garfish at Livingstones, plus mullet and whiting from the beaches at Lighthouse Bay and Red Rocks Bay.

Glenelg River has mulloway to 4kg near Dry Creek, while on Sunday one lucky angler caught five large estuary perch on lures at Wilson's Hill

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

A total of 1321 anglers' tackled83km of surf beach last weekend during the annual Kingston Lions Club's fishing competition. Mulloway numbers were up on last year, with Naracoorte's Richard James taking the largest at 12.44kg. Peter Durbridge, from Mount Gambier had the biggest stingray at 26.5kg, while the shark prize went to Harry Altschwager of Millicent. Brent Lodewyk from Bordertown topped the junior section with a 7.1kg mulloway.

Trevally, large whiting and small snapper were all active at Lighthouse Bay and Red Rock Bay.

Danger Point yielded larger snapper on Saturday night, while whiting and small salmon kept anglers busy inside the Port MacDonnell breakwater.

School mulloway were caught in good numbers in Glenelg River.

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

The Kingston Lions Club's annual surf fishing competition kicks off tomorrow (Saturday 19th) at 2pm and ends at 9am on Sunday. It covers 83km of Coorong beach, with a prize pool of $14,000. Entries can be lodged at the Shell Coorong Roadhouse at Salt Creek and at Kingston, also at the 42 mile crossing entrance from midday tomorrow. Recent mulloway caught in the area have weighed up to 9kg.

Cape Banks provided one crew with whiting to 49cm and a legal snapper. Trevally are biting at Blackfellows Caves and Cape Banks, with large garfish at Livingstones and Bungeloo Bay.

Port McDonnell still has large salmon just outside the breakwater, with good numbers of whiting and smaller salmon on the inside.

A 22.7kg mulloway was landed at Green Point on Saturday, and plenty of snapper to 4.5kg came from Livingstones, Blackfellows Caves, Nene Valley and Green Point.

A school of big salmon kept anglers busy just outside the breakwater at Port MacDonnell on Saturday.

Glenelg River hosted an overnight fishing competition at the weekend. Catches were modest overall, with mulloway to 4kg, bream to 1kg and some very big mullet.

Saturday turned on snapper to 3.7kg and whiting at Green Point,
and some large whiting to 50cm at Red Rock Bay.

Snapper were also caught at Paradise and Orwells.

Brown Bay yielded mullaway from undersize to 7kg.

Whiting, garfish and squid kept anglers busy and entertained at Livingstones, while rock anglers at Blackfellows Caves caught garfish, tommies and mullet.

The Canunda area, particularly Whale Rock, is worth a look for salmon schools.

There were schools of salmon near Whale Rock at Canunda before the weekend, with smaller fish taken from boat and shore at Red Rock Bay.

Salmon also were active at Ten Mile, near Millicent, while garfish, mullet and barracouta were caught at Danger Point.

Nene Valley continued to provide gummy sharks for beach anglers, and there were mullet inside the breakwater at Port MacDonnell.

Glenelg River mulloway were mainly caught between Donovan's Landing and the caves, with bream also active at Donovan's.

Mullet were plentiful at Lighthouse Bay and Cape Banks, with garfish and a few squid at Livingstones.

A big school of salmon sat just beyond casting range at Canunda, while gummy sharks were caught between Blackfellows Caves and Jones Bay.

Glenelg River yielded some large bream in the estuary on pod worm and crab baits, while the best mulloway hauls came from the middle reaches between Dry Creek and Wilsons Hall.

Offshore at Port MacDonnell, local anglers caught flathead and terakihi in 100m of water.

Lighthouse Bay and Red Rock Bay continued to provide a few salmon, but not in the numbers found between Nora Creina and Robe.

Some large whiting were caught at Bucks Bay, Bungeloo Bay and Blackfellows Caves, while Livingstones proved reliable for mullet and garfish.

Apart from the Donovans Landing bream, the best of which measured an impressive 47cm, Glenelg River also had salmon to 900g on high tides in the estuary.

Salmon to 3.5kg were biting between the Tea Tree and 42 Mile crossings at Salt Creek on the weekend, and there were mullet inside the Coorong near Woods Well.

Lighthouse Bay and Red Rock Bay continued to provide good salmon fishing, particularly late on Saturday afternoon.

Wading anglers caught garfish at Livingstones, Cape Douglas and Nene Valley.

Rough weather turned on the salmon at Red Rock Bay, where a dozen surf anglers caught plenty of fish from 1.5kg to 3kg on Sunday.

When wind direction is favourable, garfish can still be landed from the shore between Port McDonnell and Cape Banks.

Glenelg River was again popular with those seeking shelter from the elements.

Bream to 1.4kg were caught on the rubber-tailed lures at Pritchards, while school mulloway took pilchard baits at Battersbys Landing.

Medium salmon have been biting well at Red Rock Bay, but the action slowed with calmer seas on the weekend.

There are still some garfish at Livingstones, and tommies from Port McDonnell jetty at night for those who can handle the cold.

Bream and school mulloway were caught between Pritchards and Hutchessons on Glenelg River, with some huge mullet landed under the lights at Donovan's Landing.

Before the weekend there were salmon schools in the corner of Red Rock Bay.

Weekenders were largely confined to the protected waters of Glenelg River, where school mulloway took pilchard baits below Sandy Waterholes and near the shacks at Dry Creek.

Lures proved successful farther upstream at Forrest Camp.

Late last week, there were small salmon at Waitpinga but weekend storms kept anglers away.

As seas calm again, there should be tommies available at Rapid Bay and Cape Jervis jetties.

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

Last week large salmon were biting for Salt Creek triers above Tea Tree Crossing. Salmon were also taking lures at Carpenter Rocks, where the beach section produced several nice trevally.

School and gummy sharks were landed at Nene Valley and the odd snapper or two came from Danger Point.

Port MacDonnell has tommies, trevally and a few whiting inside the breakwater, while the jetty provided heaps of tommies for keen night anglers.

Salt Creek visitors were frustrated by undersize mulloway but still managed a few salmon and small sharks.

Garfish were plentiful at Cape Douglas and Livingstones, with mullet still biting well at Nene Valley and Red Rock Bay.

Glenelg River's mulloway were active at Hutchessons and in the estuary, and large bream took crab baits at Simpsons Landing.

Little has changed at Port McDonnell, with whiting and salmon trout inside the breakwater, and plenty of tommies from the jetty at night.

Some large mulloway were caught in Brown Bay, gummy sharks at Beachport and Southend, and heaps of mullet at Nene Valley.

Port McDonnell has plenty of salmon trout and a few whiting inside the breakwater, while offshore in 100m of water there are good numbers of flathead to over 2kg.

There are snapper in the eastern and western channels at Livingstones, and plenty of garfish between Bungeloo Bay and Cape Douglas.

Subject: Fishing Report - South East

Salt Creek provided a popular Easter venue, yielding modest catches of sharks, salmon, flathead and the occasional legal mulloway.

Terry Harbour and Phil Richards waded out at Pelican Point on Sunday for a mixed bag of garfish and large mullet. Snapper and a few mulloway were boated at Green Point, with snapper also caught from the beach at Orwells Rocks.

Large salmon turned up in Red Rock Bay and along the beach at Canunda, while Glenelg River provided school mulloway at the caves area and some big bream at Dry Creek.

One young angler surprised everyone at Portland when he landed a 9kg snapper from the breakwater.

Mulloway to 25kg were caught between Green Point and Danger Point, along with quite a few snapper to 4kg.

There are plenty of mullet in the shallows from Cape Douglas to Nene Valley, and school mulloway to 4.5kg were caught in the Glenelg River estuary and further upstream near the caves.

Port McDonnell has tommies, trevally and occasional mulloway from the jetty, with boat anglers catching whiting inside the breakwater.

Salt Creek provided a few salmon and sharks but no mulloway.

Port McDonnell jetty turned on tommies, trevally to 1.4kg and the odd mulloway, while nearby boat crews caught whiting inside the breakwater.

Snapper and gummy sharks came from the eastern and western channels at Blackfellows Caves.

Huge garfish were biting at Livingstones, while big bream were taking crab baits at Glenelg River between Dry Creek and the caves.
