Feeling a little embarrassed right now with my outburst.

Well, I just took up fishing a few months ago. I go out most weekends. I have hit spots on Jumeirah Beach, Umm Al Qawain (near Hamriya Port/Town) and Near Hyatt Regency.

So far I have caught all of one fish.

I have read all the forums and try to follow the advice.

I am currently using a 6lb line with either no.4 or no.8 hooks. I do use a float and for bait have alternated between cut sardine and shrimp.

I dont know what I am doing wrong. I mean in a total of 8 mornings of fishing I have caught 1 tiny fish while I see people around me landing bigger stuff all the time.

So I just wanted to read up and find out some more about the different techniques/equipment being used.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My email is david_carter2020@yahoo.com

Thanks guys.

David

p.s: Martin James, I am sending you a long email. Also read the article about you with interest in the boat owner magazine. Those were some beauties you had caught.

Hello Mad Hatter and all,

If you did not get an immediate response it could be because of the time of the year. Some of us had to open our "pressies" and spend some time out of "Cyber Space". E mail Martin James you will get what you are looking for and with all things fishing the magic word is ......Patience!

May every one have a fish full 2006 and remember to protect for the future!

Dear Mr. Mad Hatter,

We ought to consider ourselves very lucky that we have people like Martin, Heber, AJ, and Jeen sharing their info and expertise with us...trust me, whatever I have been catching or have learnt in the past few months is by reading up posts put up by these stalwarts and then experimenting on my own. It is a game of 'trial and error'.

Even I used to stumble on many a question like you before I took to serious fishing, and it has been only then that I have got closer to being just a novice.

So do not lose hope or get frustrated if you dont get a personal answer to your questions, but the fact remains that all the posts on this board and on www.fishing.invisionplus.net are full of vital info somewhere or the other. So just take a chill pill and cast, but make sure you have 'TIGHT LINES'...!!!

Cheers..!!

Hi Mad Hatter,

I'm sure this board along the other one www.fishing.invisionplus.net is serving the purpose of getting the guys to gether. I'm sure all here will agree that we have learnt a lot from the postings here. We were also newbies once upon a time and there was no forum to help us out. Personally, I have met other fisherfriends from these boards and its going great. So, don't get upset....take your gear and get down to sea and you'll learn to fish..... not by just reading forums.

Cheers

Can somebody please help me out.

I have just started fishing. I bought a basic setup for some shore fishing.

But I need some help. I have been unlucky so far in catching fish.

What kind of bait do you use? Should I keep the line moving to attract fish or do I just let it float on one spot.

Any other techniques that could help.

Appreciate any help

Hi Guys

The Sportfishing/Flyfishingclub looks like it could really take-off in 2006. Please tell all your serious fishing friends about the happenings and watch this space!

We all need recongnition some times for our achievments ,but to just brag about the killing of small fish should not be encouraged!
If you where a hunter you would not go bragging about shooting a little Buffalo calf or a little lion pupp. The fish in this area needs to be protected firstly by "Fisherman for Fisherman"

We must be the keepers of the Sea and also protect more than just the fish but the whole eco system. Don't litter and especially don'tleave pieces of fishing line all over the place. This is a death trap to any bird!

We are really trying to get a good thing going with this fishing club ,but we need to show the authorities that not all Fisherman are Fishkillers.

We would like the support of the consevation authorities as they will be the ones able to open "New Waters" for us. We need to report those who are threatening our sport!

Come on guys lets us all think before we kill,
It is just as sick to see the aimless killing of little babby fish on a web site or in the fish markets, as it is to see the canned lion hunting in Africa.

"Let the water teem with living creatures and let birds fly above the earth......"

".....rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Support Catch and Release !

Hi everyone It rather sickening to see all the dead fish. Ask yourself am I a sportsfisher or fishmonger. We should only harvest a fish for the table. We should never kill the small fish, they are usually food for the bigger fish, also the fish eating birds, The latter are doing it to survive. We do it for sport.
We should never ever kill the big fish. These are the better gene pool and produce more eggs or milt. We must also press the authorities to enforce the size limits. Its most important that when we do have a good day we don't publicise the location The commercial guys who never care about the future will go out and clean up. I wish you all A Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year Martin James

If the government is serious about clamping down on under size (and oversize breeding fish) then they need only go down to the markets and start collecting the fines.

Also you cant simply state undersize (little) fish are not to be kept, you need to have a measurable quality that people can use to judge what is undersize and what’s not.

Hi guys,

Good to see that lots of us are catching fish. Judging by the size of some of the catches it is clear that not many people are operating catch and release. My guideline is quite simple, if it its not good eating, big enough or I'm not going to eat it then it goes back. The challenge is in catching the fish, lets let everyone enjoy that challenge!

Thought I would let you guys know that the fishing in RAK is very good at the moment. Ive gone out the last 3 mornings and the kingfish have been biting freely each day. Although i fish off a boat I am often in casting distance of shore so those shore anglers can expect to catch a fish or two as well.

Guys,
Just to remind you that "CATCHING CRABS, SQUIDS, CUTTLEFISH, MUSSELS & JUVENILE FISH IS PROHIBITED BY THE FEDERAL LAW NO.23 OF 1999" atleast shore fishing. The environment guys can pull you up if you're found with these.

These guys are fishy about these things but don't mind screwing up the environment wholesale like the Palms etc..

What you are doing is awesome AJ and please count me in for whatever I can do to getting this club going...

Caught a 6kg Barracuda under the Makhtoum bridge day before yesterday...at about 8:45 pm...just when the tide has started coming in...guys that is the only time(depending on the almanac) when Barracudas are in the plenty...so make it a point to go when the tide is just begining to come in...also got a small palm sized Hamour...besides a few crabs and catfish...

Hi guys,

Now we are getting something going here! It is so good to see fellow anglers sharing information and assisting each other where they can.

Those interested in starting up a fishing club please e mail me your details on my private e mail so I can update you on the mailing list.(ajandj9@emirates.net.ae)

I will make a list of numbers and then send them out to other fellow fisherman so we can get together to fish.

I think we should also just take care of giving out to much info about fishing spots, as some "other people" also read these sites, just to go and plunder these fish for personal gain.

Tight lines

My husband and I live in Riyadh and want to do a couple days fishing trip in Dammam or Bahrain - been to Dubai and had fun catching kingfish but looking for cleaner water and a calmer environment. Anybody have recommendations on contacts for a fishing charter and hotel in Dammam or Bahrain. We want to try Muscat but it's harder to get to from Riyadh (few direct flights and overly expensive airfare) so we don't want to do it this time. Any advice is appreciated.

Dear Dave Thank you for letting us know what is going on. I have seen the destruction of the environment over the past fifteen years. Don't the powers to be realise that people need a quiet oasis in their lives where they can relax. Not all of us want jet ski's, power boats etc. Peace and quiet are a very valuable commodities in this modern age. The pristine flats at UMM AL-QUWAIN ( I could be wrong on the location name) was the home of a varied fish and aquatic life, wading birds and much more. Its a magnificent sight seeing the Pink Flamingo's as you quietly wade the flats. This delightful area, once commercialised and destroyed cannot be returned to a quiet oasis. I am as certain as I can be that I spotted a bonefish coming from the mangroves on a falling tide. Over many years of targeting these fish I have often seen the odd straggler leaving at the last minute on an ebbing tide often in ankle deep water. I don't know what can be done to stop the project if anything. All we can do is probably hope some commonsense prevails, so the flats and the area surrounding them are left alone for the birds, waders, animals and aquatic life. If it was happening in the UK we might be able to get some action In the UAE I doubt it. Though I would like to be proved wrong.Sorry I cannot be more positive. Martin James Author writer broadcaster

AJ,

Never seen any bonefish here. I have fished umm al quawain for years and with the mangroves it would be the best spot for them. Martin had mentioned that he thought he saw a bone there. In which case this press report is even more worrying:

UMM AL-QUWAIN, United Arab Emirates - The Khor al-Beidah lagoon is a pristine tidal flat teeming with wildlife, including endangered birds, sea turtles and manatee-like dugong that swim among its tangles of mangroves.

But a bevy of dredges and construction gangs are about to begin transforming a 1,500-acre parcel into a $3.3 billion luxury conglomeration of homes, shops, marinas and beach resorts aimed at foreign buyers and tourists.

The crown jewels of the development are private villas to be built on artificial islands with gated access -- and views over one of the few remaining mangrove archipelago left in the Persian Gulf.

Developers say the waterfront complex, called Umm Al-Quwain Marina, will skirt the mangroves and leave most of the 20 square miles of wetland untouched.

"Our aim is to create a community of special neighborhoods bordering an open stretch of water with views of the marina against a backdrop of the gulf," says Mohammed Ali Alabbar, chairman of Emaar, the Middle East's largest developer.

Environmentalists are aghast. They fear construction and people, cars and boats will drive off Khor al-Beidah's internationally famous wildlife, including birds that migrate from Siberia to Africa and the rare socotra cormorant that nests almost exclusively on the Arabian Peninsula.

"We've seen it happen everywhere else. When you start to dredge and build marinas, that's the end of it," says Colin Richardson, a 30-year resident of Dubai and author of the periodic Emirates Bird Report and a guidebook to local species.

The leaders of Umm Al-Quwain, however, are eager to bring big projects to their emirate, which is the least-developed of the seven states in the United Arab Emirates. It has little of the energy wealth of Abu Dhabi, the largest of the emirates, and few of the tourists of Dubai, one of the world's fastest-growing cities and tourist destinations.

The 35,000 people of Umm Al-Quwain, most of whom live in the small coastal city of the same name, make their livings from fishing, growing dates, building traditional sailing dhows and, lately, working at a container port.

Development is coming fast, though.

The deal for the lagoon complex was signed July 23, and a few days later developers announced Umm Al-Quwain's desert interior would be the site for a new city that could eventually house as many as 500,000 people. The initial phase was valued at 8.2 billion dirham ($3.3 billion).

The once empty Emirates coast is awash in construction that has buried coral reefs, mangrove swamps and other wildlife zones. The tidal lagoon here is one of the last such areas in the country, especially since the partial bulldozing of a mangrove swamp on the east coast.

Richardson says a half-million birds stop at the Khor al-Beidah every year.

"The birds don't have very much left," he says. "It's a very important site. It has the highest density of winter migrants anywhere in eastern Arabia."

The lagoon is a shallow tidal flat where turquoise sea and orange sand form swirling arabesques, bordered by grassy desert dunes. The protected waters are laden with small fish and crabs that lure the birds that nest in adjacent mangroves and on a sandy barrier island.

Bird enthusiasts are running out of sites in the Emirates.

Richardson says hundreds of people visit Khor al-Beidah every year for the wildlife. He and other activists long urged the government to protect the lagoon, arguing it is more valuable as an ecotourism destination than as home to another luxury housing complex.

BirdLife International, an advocacy group, has designated Khor al-Beidah an "important bird area" for hosting of 85 species, including the country's largest wintering flock of crab plovers, one of the world's rarest shorebirds.

The wetlands also are stopping place for the Emirates' only flock of Great Knots, birds that migrate from nesting grounds on the Siberian tundra.

Developing the lagoon also could threaten endangered sea turtles and dugongs, a manatee-like sea mammal, Richardson says.

The marina project is meant to resemble canal-side neighborhoods of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with residents able to walk to their boats and quickly cruise to open sea, says Mark Amirault, Emaar's senior director of development.

As is common at similar luxury developments in Dubai, the homes will be targeted for sale to buyers from all over the world, especially Britain and elsewhere in Europe, as well as India, Pakistan and Arab countries.

Emaar, established in 1997, is responsible for many of the projects that have turned Dubai into the Middle East's growth hub, including Burj Dubai, planned to be the world's tallest building when it opens in 2008.

"What you're seeing in this region is on par with development in North America 100 years ago," says Robert Booth, Emaar's executive director.

What a terrible shame.

Fishing report East coast 11/12!

The Met man said no wind!!!! Boy was he wrong we had to abandon all efforts to cast a fly after a couple of hours falling about, trying not to break our rods as a nasty little eastely kicked in.

Seeking the shelter of Shark Island we manage a bit of casting practice and landed a couple of pan size Rockhod / Hamour.

Any Fly Fisherman (or sport fisherman) can contact me on ajandj9@emirates.net.ae

Hi Guys,
Been Away for a while. Also forgot the password. Reading all that jazz about fishing on the East coast, some guy hung up about not catching any thing, Experts advising. A classic example of a "storm in a tea cup ".
Anglers as far as I know are generally a nice bunch of guys and enjoy nature as well as their angling. If there is no fish there is definitely the great blue azure or the beautiful streams, the mountins and the rivers. And Fishing is the one area where all of us get away from the rat race and the daily grind.
So cheer up guys and enjoy life!
Tight lines.

Hi John,

In reference to your enquiry about registering a dinghy. You need to go to the ministry of communication. The process does not take to long but it will involve a trip to the coastguard also. The guys at the MOC are very helpful and you will be fishing before you know it.

Hi all,

It seems we have this report page going now, please guys, lets all get as many people on to this site. We need to get the SPORTFISHERS together and I think we need to tell as many of our fishing buddies about the idea of a club and conservation of the fish along here. I have seen to many places in my home country were a couple of years ago fishing was great but today, after bad Mangement by the Fishing Folk, have no fish.

Lets all help each other, ie info on places to fish or tackle to be used ( you dont have to give up your hotspots or your secret weapon )

Those who can help Sandip and John please do so. This is the oppertunity for us a fisherman to get something good going out here.

Hi there,

I'm new to Dubai and just bought a new dinghy and motor to get out fishing (it's a 285cm with a 5hp engine - small). After the sale the clerk then told me that boats now need to be registered in Dubai as there have been a rash of fines/impoundings for people without the proper papers - this included boats my size. He had no idea where this registration is done though...

Do any of you folks know which government department does the registration and whether or not it's a fluid process (from my experience so far NO government offices are fluid in the UAE... but maybe I'll have some luck!).

Thanks for the advice!

Good day everyone May I suggest you all get together and form a club for fly and light tackle fishing both from the shore and boats. The shorefishing can often be very good especially if you choose a 6 weight fly rod or 6lb pound spinning outfit. Though I do a lot of bluewater fly fishing I also do my share of flats and shore fishing.

As I tell my listeners, viewers and readers "If it pulls the string and bends the stick I'm having fun" If you become a registered angling club you could perhaps meet with Emirates fishery people, even get several of the fish species designated as sports fish with size limits. Start a tagging programme, teach people not too litter. Get the kids and ladies involved the latter group make excellent anglers. In fact I am just reviewing a book positive Fly Fishing Marla Blair.

Remember the big fish should always be returned, They have the better gene pool and provide more eggs or milt at spawning time. I fish many tropical places in the world and what you have off the east coast of the Emirates and in Omani waters is something rather special. It needs protection, its only anglers who care in most cases. Many of the commercial fishing boats with their centre consoles would make good fly and light tackle sports fishing boats with some modification. The boatmen could probably have a better lifestyle.

Also its needs to be pointed out to those incharge in the Emirates that the fish swimming the ocean is worth far more in tourism dollars than that same fish dead in the fish market. When I first fished the Sea of Cortez in Mexico all the fish were killed. The locals thought we flyfishers were daft at what we were doing. Today those same locals are looking after the sports fish and practising catch and release Today they wear light plastic gloves so as not to damage the fish.

I have over the years helped many of the locals in Central and South America get into sportsfishing, where today they have a better living style than before. in the Bahamas we have a Conservation and bonefish trust which is working to protect the fish and the environment. It may seem to you that there are plenty of mangrove bushes about but they have to be looked after as everything else in or around the ocean. while on the subject of bonefish I believe these fish exist in the Emirates.
Don't bury your head in the sand thinking No one will take notice. You might be surprised at what help you might get. If you don't try you can't complain

Recently I have been reading bits on the site about the fishing off the east coast off Fujairah I will say now, I had a total of 14 days, I didn't have a single day where I didn't catch. Several times I had 20 or more hook ups. I didn't come with just one rod, reel, line and a few flies. I had 4 rods on every trip, six fly reels with various line and over 500 hundred flies. The value of my gear on any single day was probably around £6000-0 Me and my friends fish all over the world, even more these days as we are now all retired.

On many occasions I had guests with me they all pulled in dorado and tuna.Every fish was released, we used barbless hooks at all times. I chose my fishing times very carefully to give me the best chance of hook ups. When you get a cold front move in the bait fish shoals get split up, it becomes hard to find your fish. So please don't blame the Captain for cruising the ocean looking for fish, thats one of his jobs. If he sits down all day picking his nose then he isn't worth being called Captain or guide

Me and my mates always work in conjunction with the skipper we use his local knowledge, and we often compliment his knowledge of the ocean with our knowledge of the flyfishing. Non of us know it all. We also work extremely hard for our fish. I am not on a cruise my mission is to catch fish and find new ways of catching for my listeners readers and viewers. I can sit around in the sunshine when I am not fishing. Remember you get out of any sport what you put into it.

When I am due to go off on a tropical fishing expedition I will spend a couple of weeks practising my casting, spend hours going through all my fly lines checking for nicks etc etc. Every single fly is checked for sharpness rust spots etc Any not 100% are chucked out. If I can be of help at anytime please feel free to e-mail me martin@flyfishing.plus.com Kind regards to all Martin

Hello All,
Went fishing today, didn't expect much as I arrived just as the tide started to ebb at around midday. Fished rapala's, had a few follows from 18 inch barracuda, and got completley ignored by three or four trevally. Only had one pull in the 4 hours but great to spot a fair number of fish. Next weekend should be a different story with high water coming towards dusk.
Regards
Duane.

HI all,

As Fiserman fly fishing or other we all need to stand together to protect for the future. At least some legislation is better than none, just a pitty that if this is not policed nothing will come of it.

What we all need to do is to promote the fact that big fish should also be protected, these are the breeders the better gene pool, what we need to do is to get certain species on the sportfish list to be released and create an awareness among fisherman that a fish in the water is worth more than a fish in the market.

We also need to report things like indescriminate netting of anything that swims.

Heber , thanks for all the info you put up, Have a great fishing day

AJ

Penalties on catching small fish From the Khaleej Times
By Sadiq A. Salam

30 November 2005

RAS AL KHAIMAH — As a part of its efforts to realise sustainable development in the emirate, the RAK Fishing Industry Committee (RFIC) yesterday warned fishermen against catching little fish and indulging in other practices affecting emirate's natural resources.

The committee also warned that tough legal penalties await those fishermen who repeat such violations.

The penalties would include seizure of all the catch and cancellation of the licence, said the committee after its meeting yesterday.

The committee also directed the Public Health and Environment Protection Section of RAK Municipality to carry out an inspection campaign in the local fish markets and seashores to ensure that the mentioned regulations are strictly followed.

(By little fish, do they mean juvenile fish, small fish or less number of fish ??????)

Hi Dave,

We need to get all the fly fishers together to start something up. I am as always ready to go fish, the guys on the east coast are still getting the Golden D's and they took a 13kg Queen fish this weekend trawlling, send me a email, and we can exchange numbers for future outings!
If you know of other guys who would like to get involved, in say, starting up a club or getting together to tie flies or just talk things flyfishing, please give them my details to.

Been away working in Bahrain. Not been able to get out lately as my outboard has decided to give up on me. If anyone is planning any fly fishing trips next weekend it would be good to meet up. I heard that mohammed at DIMC hooked up on a sailfish a couple of weeks ago, maybe they are coming in early.

hi aj
thanks for the offer and buy the way i do not call people liars , the point i am making is that the way it was handled did not give me any confidence at all in what i was told to be the case if they said look it will be hard fishing and maybe if we are lucky we will hit some fish but no , thay have not even had the decency to respond to my e mail owner or otherwise, i have fished all over and know the diff between salt and fresh , and flies i tied up to match for dorado and such , saltwater fish are not so line shy as guts make out , but doing some groundwork prior to some guy coming makes sense to me , i could not imagine anyone in the game not doing that , but as i say the company needs to be more up front and have more info themselves . needeless to say if the owner would like to respond to my mail directly it would say a bit about him.

Hi Kevin,

By implication your post is making us out to be a bunch of liars, I tried giving you the advise you need regarding flies and tackle to be used. I am not connected to the guiding service(or trying to get any thing from it ) you used but did fish with them on the very day you spoke with Mr James on the phone.

We had a tough moring session that day and were also running from ship to ship to find the fish.Over a period of time we noticed that fish held around the ship that was around 10m under water, we also found that ships not holding any fish during the morning, had fish in the afternoon and vise versa.

These ships move in and out during the evening and the "HOT SPOT" from yesterday may not be there come the morning.

The afternoon session was also tough but when we found the fish it was Magic with Double Hookups and Jumping Fish. Allen Meyburg landed one of the Biggest Big Eye trevally's I have ever seen.Around 90cm ( 25lbs)

I will fish with these guys any day, especially if one as knowlegable as MR Martin James recommend them.

The fish knew they were caught and so do we, I feel sorry that you did not experience the Magic of Fujairah, maybe next time, I will fish with you and I'll pay for the charter if you blank, I think my money is safe.

Tight Loops,

As always ready 2 fish!

well that looks like the answer i was looking for we give you the chance to catch fish well on this occassion i did not have the chance never mind see the fish to cast to after what i was told by e mail , and by the way who or what is a guru ? i also have fished for over 40 years so please dont tell me i do not know what i am talking about , if i told some of my salmon anglers fish are abound i mean it, nobody can say running around like a blindman looking for fish for 4 hours with a so called experienced guide who did not know where to go is a good advert for a company most of the time i did not have a chance to cast for fish as the excuses were the tankers are too low in the water? lets run for miles looking for one , anybody that had a booking for any sport would do groundwork prior to a client coming .
also it would be polite top respond to an e mail directly.

Good day all,

I will have to agree with Martin, if we go out on a hunt say for four hours, we get to see our buck of a life time, but never get a good shot at it or miss. Does this now make the Profesional Hunter bad ?

I also have been around these Dorado when they were just not taking any flies and just not eating, part of the game.

I must say I enjoy the hunt not the kill. Let us not forget what to promote as responsible Fly Fishers, the enjoyment of our persute, wheter we catch fish our not.

The ocean is a wide open space, like the plains of Africa, sometime we get a shot and sometimes not, surely we don't want Fly Fishing to become like "Canned Lion hunting" in some parts of the world!

Hi Guys and Girls. If we have a bad experience we should take it up with the guides, not just post on a website without names and the reason for the bad experience. Otherwise everyone gets painted with the same brush. Remember we all have days when we don't catch, You cannot argue with nature. When we have rough weather at sea the bait shoals get spread about, as do the bigger fish. These are not pets we are trying to catch but wild animals. The weather changes can dramatically effect the fish and their food source and the feeding habits of our quarry.

There are many questions and answers about why we don't catch. Far to numerous to list. Most important of all, we have to be prepared to work for our fish. Sometimes I get a ten minute slot in three or more hours to get a hook up. Many saltwater fly fishers come from freshwater, they don't have all the gear or experience needed.

You need more than one rod and reel to be successful on the ocean. I never go afloat with out a minimum of three rods and lines to match from floating to fast sink. If I don't see fish on the surface I will be fishing blind at all depths using the count down method.I look for a change in the tidal flow and fish as often as possible at dawn and dusk. Fish don't eat 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Rough weather splits up the bait shoal. Mexico, Bahamas, Central America the Pacific its all the same and we all have blank days. Even Tiger Woods has an off day. Your flies have to be the right profile, colour and size. On my recent trip to the UAE I had a minimum of 500 flies

Offshore bluewater fly fishing can be tough work. Remember these fish are moving around the ocean. They might be there one day the next they could be miles off the original location. I have cruised the Pacific for ten days straight living on board. On one trip WE 4 anglers CAUGHT seven small Spanish mackerel. I have had far better dorado fishing from the Indian Ocean fishing out of Fujairah marina with East coast sportsfishers than off Mexico or the Bahamas. during my fishing I caught every single day, When the press or TV wanted to do a feature with me I caught fish. I also got the reporters hooked up to fish. Remember 10% of the anglers usually catch 90% of the fish but we all have days when we cruise the ocean for ten or twelve hours without seeing a single fish. That's the name of the game. Martin James

I will be back for a brief period in three weeks. I will be back in RAK fulltime from May onwards, which is when i plan to start a small charter company catering for people who want to enjoy some inshore gamefishing, for kingfish queenfish etc.

Exactly, I have been fishing out of the Sharjah free zone near Um Al Quain and you certainly don’t see too many sport fishermen. When are you back?

No one else intrested?

Hey Luke,
I think it is a great idea, a bit of light hearted fun and an excuse to meet other fishermen in the emirates. I live in RAK and i can tell you there isnt too many other recreational fishermen here. Unfortunatly im out the country at the moment but as soon as im back i know i would support your idea.

Hi all, would anyone be interested a semi organised social fishing comp?

I was thinking along the lines of picking a day (probably a Friday) where after fishing we all meet up at a location to have a weigh in and get to meet other each other.

I would suggest that we make a small entrance fee per person and have that as a prize for the sake of competition. It would also commit people to making it on the day.

I was thinking as a boat fishing comp for game fish only, i.e. Kingfish, cobia, sailfish etc but the main point would be to get to meet other fishermen and try and learn a bit more about there the fish are and what works.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Luke

Went fishing on the beaches of Um Al Quain with the family. Not very good....just some small breams. Is there any good spot to take the family along for some shore fishing??

Hi, Guys,

Any body had a bad day at sea yesterday with the wind waves and all?
How come the site is again going into a coma ?

Tight Lines,
