Well, the weather has been a fisherman’s dream. The cloud cover has kept the fish active. The shallow bite has been on and off. Wave Tiki sticks, Zoom flukes, and Lake Fork Tackle ring fries or ZigZag fished Texas rigged with no weight over the grass has been good on some days. Top water has been fair to good on some days. Spinner baits and buzz baits can catch a few fish all day fished over the grass. The deep bite has held consistent. Carolina rig, tail spinners, and jigging spoons have been the best baits. Finding fish on your graph and dropping a marker then use your jigging spoon, tail spinner. Or Carolina rig. The drop shot with a Wave baby Tiki stick or Tiki Drop as your bait with about and 18 inch leader has been good. The Bar fish are showing up in good numbers and some have been big. We are catching a few white bass that are running close to two pounds or better. Lake Fork Was not stocked with white bass but because of the lakes above us they have migrated to our lake. The water temp has dipped to 60 degrees. This is setting the stage for the big fish to start showing up with a more regular basics. This will be true for the crappie to. The fish will start showing up on the main lake points up by the dam. Remember on December first the first 25 fish you catch you have to keep. This will last till the end of February then it will go back to the normal 10 inch rule. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, no matter what I tell you now it will change with the fast approaching cold front. The first couple of days after the front the fishing may slow. This front will drop the water temps if it gets down to what they say. This drop will help rather than hinder our fishing. The smaller fish will start disappearing and better fish will start showing up. The deep fish have started showing signs of this with many fish over seven pounds showing up on the reports at the marinas. The Jigging spoon has been the best deep water bait. Find the fish with your electronics and drop a marker close by so you can stay over them and drop a spoon to the bottom and hop it up and down. Hop the bait up and the bite will be on the fall. Stay in touch with your line and set the hook if you feel anything. Sometimes the line may just slack. There are times when they don’t want the hop. Just lifting the spoon off the bottom and holding it still will get you a strike. Line size is another factor. Smaller diameter is better. There are still plenty of fish in the shallows where lipless crank baits, spinner baits, weightless Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle Ring fries or ZigZags, and pitching a jig around the timber in eight to ten foot of water. Top waters are still catching a few fish worked over the grass. The water temp was 69 degrees and clear but as I said earlier this will change. Deep humps and main lake points with deep water close by are the best pattern for the deep fish. The crappie are plentiful but still running small. The cold temps will help them to stack up soon. Small jigs and minnows will be the bait of choice. 18 to 25 feet down over 30 foot of water is the depth to start your search. This is a big fish time of year and it is a good time to fill your freezer with crappie or bar fish. If you have never eaten a yellow bass AKA BAR FISH you need to try some. They taste just like brim. Call if you would like to book a trip or if you need to get that special someone a fishing trip for Christmas. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork has been good to great over the last week or more. The water temp is from 68 to 71 degrees. With the cold nights the water should continue to drop and fishing should only get better. The water is clear with the visibility to 4 feet or more in some places. The average day is producing anywhere from 25 to 35 fish and a few days more and less but that seems to be a good average. The shallow bite seems to be alot better in the afternoon then the morning. From about noon on you can find fish around the first half of most coves in the grass. I have been catching these fish with a watermelon/red zoom Fluke with a chart. dyed tail. Fish these texas rigged with no weight in and around the grass in 3-8 feet of water. The greener the grass the better. Also over the last few days I have started catching a few fish flipping a watermelon/red STRIKE WORKS wood jig with a zoom watermelon super chunk with the tips dyed in chart. Flip the jigs to stading timber in the mouth of creeks in 6 to 12 feet of water. Make sure you have a heavy rod and big line cause these fish are tough. The key seems to be keep moving and covering water with the jigs. I will say that this strike work jigs are great and will say they are the only jigs I will be using. I havent spent alot of time in shallow water lately because the deep bite has been so good once you find them. Now for my favorite Deep Water fishing. Almost all of my fish are coming on main lake ridges, humps, and road bedsin 20-30 feet of water. The only thing I have tied on is carolina rigs. I have had the best luck on watermelon/red flukes with the tail dyed in chartruse. That has been on 2 of the 3 carolina rigs. I have on my deck. I have used 8 packs of these in 3 days. I have also caught a few fish throwing watermelon 6" V&M lizards and Zoom baby brush hogs in pumpkin/chart tail. The main thing is finding the fish. Once you find the fish you can sit in the same spot all day and catch fish at a good pace. If you catch fish in an area and they seem to shut down start fan casting in diffrent areas where you caught your fish till you find them agian. One last thing if you come to Lake Fork to catch more bass than barfish leave your spoons and tailkickers at home. Hope this helps all coming to Fork over the next week. I still have some November dates open and December dates open. So if you are interested in booking a trip give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit my website at www.fishinlakefork.com and email me from there. Well, the recent rains has everything wet ans soggy. The rain may have brought the lake up and inch or too but that is all. The water remains clear all the way back in the creeks. The wind has been blowing and with it and the cool nights the water temp has dipped into the upper 60’s to low 70’s. The fish are scattered from the shallow to deep water. I know this sounds like last week but here it is. Tail spinners, lipless crank baits, flukes, Tiki Sticks from Wave industries fished weightless and Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag’s fished over the grass have been very good. I have been working them like a Zara Spook a couple of jerks and stall it, then start again. When I get a hit I let the bait settle and the fish will engulf it. I caught some good looking fish this week. Healthy and FAT. The Carolina rig and Texas rig worked on the out side of the grass has been good. If you haven’t heard LAKE FORK has entered the first Share a lunker for the start of the year. This fish was 13.16 and caught in 12 feet of water with a Carolina rig. I have mentioned many times in my reports that ten to twelve feet of water is a good depth to work year round. The deep fish are starting to stack up and tail spinners and jigging spoons are catching some good solid fish. Find the fish on the humps and main lake points with your electronics and drop a marker off to the side of them and then drop a spoon to the bottom and hop it up and watch your line as the hit will usually be on the fall. Some days the half ounce will work better but on some the three quarter is the ticket. Look for shad and the fish should be close by. The crappie were going good but the recent front slowed them a little. This should improve shortly and the bite will be on. 18 to 24 foot over 25 to 30 feet of water has been a good starting spot. Minnows and jigs are the best bait. I have November dates open if you want to book a Bass or Crappie trip. This is a good time to learn how to read your electronics which I can help with that. Christmas is closing in and this would be a great gift for that special someone. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, here we are at the end of October and the temps are almost breaking the records for heat. I guess we will do our usual summer to winter pattern in stead of the summer, fall, winter. The first cool snap several weeks ago was great. Well this report will be short lived if we have the cold front they are talking about for Monday. The past weeks fishing was good. We started catching a few good fish on the deep spots and also in the shallows. Top water has been a good starting bait. The pop’r type baits worked around the edges of grass. Texas and Carolina rigs worked off the edges of the grass and out deep on the main lake points have been very effective. The drop shot has been a good bet when the fronts have moved thru. The Wave baby Tiki Stick and Lake Fork Tackle Baby ring Fry used on the drop shot rigged about two feet from the weight has been good. The Lake Fork Tackle Zig Zag and Wave Tiki Stick fished weightless over the grass is a good all day choice. Working the bait fast across the surface then stall it and move it again and when the fish hit stop if they miss the bait and let it sink and the fish will come back and get it. Buzz baits are good starters and keep the above mention bait handy if they miss the buzz bait cast the weightless bait back to the spot and let it sink. I have been using a tail spinner as a casting bait like a spinner bait or trap. You will need a fats retrieve reel to keep the bait up out of the grass. This will work out on the humps when dropped down and pulled off the bottom and letting it fall back down. The hit will usually come on the fall. The crappie are getting bigger and the number of good keepers are showing up more regular. The timber and brush piles are producing the bigger fish. Minnows and jigs are the key baits. I have some dates open in November if you wont to book a Bass or crappie trip. Give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork has been producing good numbers of fish for the last week and looks to only get better as the weather and water temps drop. The water temp is around 74 degrees and has been for a while now but lets hope this rain will cool it down a little more, The bass are all over the lake right now and you can choose how you want to fish. Deep or shallow the bite has been good with anywhere from 20-35 fish being put in the boat daily. I am starting the day in shallow water from 3-8 feet of water on main lake grass beds and main lake banks with lilly pads. The first hour Im out has been very good but slows somewhat after that. Fish the pads with a 5" Gary Yomamoto Senko in Watermelon. Texas rig these baits with no weight and fish them slow in and around the pads. Over the grass beds fish a 1/4oz or 3/8oz spin trap (rat-l-trap). burn these baits just over the grass and hold on cause they will crush it. This is a good pattern for numbers but dont be suprised when 3/4 of the fish you catch are under 10 inches. Its still fun but not what most come to Lake Fork for. When the bite slows down kick out to deeper water for the rest of the day. Now for the rest of the day I have been fishing water on main lake humps, points, and ridges in 25-35 feet of water. You must use your electronics to find these fish and when you find them you will know. The baitfish , barfish, and bass will fill up your screen black. The first thing to do is throw a marker bouy out and fish the area very good. The more barfish bites you get the better. Dont set the hook on these fish as a bass will come and take it from them alot of times. This is how Im getting alot of my strikes. One good thing to do is take your spoons and tailkickers and cut them off and dont even throw them if you are really looking for bass. If your looking just to catch fish then either one is great. The two main things Im throwing have been a Zoom baby brush hog or a V&M 6" lizard in pumpkinseed or watermelon and dying the tail of each in chartruse dye. Carolina rig these with a 1oz weight and a 3 foot leader. Agian the more barfish bites the better just let them peck at it untill you get a hard pull and set the hook. The other bait that has been catching some good fish is a Zoom tiny fluke in any shad color. Drop shot these baits in the same area as the carolina rig with a leader of a foot inbetween your hook and weight. I keep saying to stay out deep to get big fish and agian proved it Saturday when we boated 23 fish by 4:30pm and came in early so I could get pictures developed for my cleints. I fish a full day from sun up to sun down so for me it was early. Anyways Brian Dover from Austin, Texas caught a 25.5 inch 11.1 lb bass out of 32 foot of water while fishing with me. That is one of many 7+lb fish in october that I have had out of deep water. So if you want a big fish get way from the bank, the BIG fish arnt there 99% of the time on Lake Fork. I still have some Novemner Dates open if anyone is interested in learning some deep water fishing. I can be reached at 903-765-3980 or emailed through www.fishinlakefork.com. My site also has new front pics and new pics from last few months in the photo album. Take a look if you like.

Well, the fall like weather has abandoned us and the heat is on here in Texas. The fishing is still holding on. The little bass are everywhere. They are hitting Carolina and Texas Rigs, small crank baits, lipless crank baits, Tail spinners and jigging spoons. The mornings are started out with anyone of the above mentioned baits. As the sun gets up I switch to the Carolina rig or the tail spinner. I cast the tail spinner like a spinner bait and work it over grass and mid depths out in deep water. Main lake points and grass are the areas I work the Texas and Carolina rigs. This is also a good time to pitch a jig around creek bends and timber. This may get you a good bite. The yellow bass, AKA Bar Fish are showing up on the humps and road beds and this is a good sign. The big fish wont be far away from these areas. The bar fish are good eating and are great fish for the little anglers. Usually the yellow bass are easy to catch which makes them a good choice if you wont to fill your freezer or get your little angler bit. Small spoons and tail spinners will catch these fish. Find them with your electronics and drop a marker. Usually dropping a bait over the side to the bottom and hopping it up and down is the key. Sometimes you will have to just pull the bait up off the bottom and hold it still to get bit. You will have to play with it to get the right presentation. The main thing is be very careful taking them off as the gill plates are very sharp and can cause a serious cut. The crappie are still suspended in 18 to 25 feet over 30 to 35 feet. Small jigs and minnows are the best baits. There are plenty of small fish and it will take you a while to get your limit. Some mornings this will happen quickly and then on others you will have to work all day. The warm weather has caused the water temp to come up a few degrees, but it is still in the low to mid 70’s. The lake is about a foot low and clear in the main lake and a little off color in the backs of the creeks. I have a few dates open in October the 28 and 29th and some in November. If you want to book a crappie or bass trip give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the recent cold front has dropped the water temp to the low 70’s. This will get the big MAMA’s moving. The past week was the normal with plenty of small fish on lipless crank baits, tail spinners, Texas and Carolina rigs. Most fish are coming from 6 to 23 feet of water. Main lake points and humps are the key targets. The Yellow bass are starting to stack up on the deep water. Spoons and tail spinners will catch these fish. Remember the little fishermen at this time as the yellow bass are pretty easy to catch and they will have a ball. Use your electronics and locate the fish and drop a marker and have them to drop a spoon over the side and bounce it off the bottom. Don’t forget there is no size or limit on Yellow bass and they eat real good. Be sure and show everyone how to take off the fish as they have very sharp gill plates that will cut a finger like a razor blade. Remember the big fish like to eat the Yellow Bass and when you bring a yellow up don’t be surprised to see a big bass follow it up or take your yellow away from you. The big fish are scattered and few and far between but a jig and pig pitched around timber and grass in ten to twelve feet of water may get you a big bite. A big crank bait fished around creek bends can be very deadly this time of year. Buzz baits over the grass very early in the mornings has been a good choice for some nice fish. This wont last long when the sun gets up. A tail spinner fished around the grass, fished like a spinner bait , because of shad size, is another good choice. The best fishing of the year is just about to get started. The cool mornings and then settling out to warmer afternoons. Don’t forget it will be almost ten degrees cooler on the lake all day. You may wont to put some warm clothes in the boat. Rain gear is a good choice as it will block the wind and keep you warm. The crappie are still running small but the numbers of keepers are getting better. 18 to 25 feet over 30 foot of water is the best depth. Jigs and minnows are the best baits. Lake Fork has been pretty good in the last week with 25-30 fish a day being a good average for a full day of fishing. The lake looks good all around as far as water clarity and the overall condition of the lake. There are a fish scattered from deep to shallow and baitfish all over the lake. Almost all the fish Im catching have been on amin lake and not in the creeks. The creeks are full of shad but the fish havent seemed to move in very good yet but that should change with the cold weather coming in. My best bite is coming early in the morning in the first hour and half. The bass are very shallow and extremly agressive. The best baits have been a Gary Yomamoto Senko or Wave Worm in black/blue fleck or watermelon/black fleck. Fish these in 2-6 feet on any main lake grass beds, lilly pads, or shallow timber. There is no need to fish these very slow because the fish will jump all over these. In the morning the fish are ranging from 1-5 pounds. These are great if anyone has some tournaments coming up because there are a lot of good under fish up there to be caught. After the shallow bite slows down you have a choice to get out in deep water or pound the grass all day. By staying in the grass I think you will catch more fish but the average size will be smaller. If you are a shallow water fishermen fish chrome blue traps and senkos in and around the grass in 4-10 feet all day. If you like deep water like myself it has been up and down as far as the bite goes. Most of the fish are on main lake points, humps, and ridges in 20-30 feet of water. Watch your graph close for bait fish as they are starting to pile up out deep. If you find them piled up throw out a bouy and fish em out of there. One thing to watch for is barfish. These fish will also chase the shad around so if you find a school stay in them untill you feel you have covered that area very well. The most productive baits have been carolina rigged Zoom Ol' Mosters in plum or blueberry, watermelon or blue brusier lake fork baby ring fry, or a pumpkin/chart. tail V&m 6" lizard. these are the baits I have been throwing in the last couple of days to take out some of the deep fish. Other baits that will work are T.O. tail spinners in 1/2 oz and dropshotting a 4" senko or wave worm in shad or watermelon colors or a tiki drop in the same colors. Pay attention to the barfish when you sre throwing these, They will tear it up but dont set the hook on them untill you feel a more solid hit from a bass or you will be catching barfish and thats it. Thats why I dont throw alot of spoons or tailkickers any more is because 99% of the fish you catch wil be barfish. If thats what your fishing for then its really fun but I dont try to go out to catch barfish on my trips. So fish more of your baits that are plastic or a little bigger in size so you wont catch the barfish but they will still hit and sometimes trigger bites from bass to come and take it away from them. I hope this report helps all who are coming to Lake Fork and If you would like to book a trip for some great fall fishing I still have some October and November days open so give me a call 903-765-3980 or visit www.fishinlakefork.com and email me. Thank you and be safe on the water ( Bring an extra pair of clothes with you in case you fall out of the boat. This is not a time of year to do this and not have warm clothes in the boat. Well, the fishing has gone crazy. The fish are hitting almost anything you wont to throw. The key is get out early and fish around the grass. When the sun gets up move out a little and switch to a Texas or Carolina rig. Small baits have been good. The fish have been small with a few good fish mixed in. Lipless crank baits, tail spinners, small crank baits and spinner baits have caught the schooling fish. Keep one tied on and when they come up throw past them and bring the bait to where they came up and let the bait stall then reel again and this should draw a strike. Weightless baits like Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag, wacky worms are all good choices around the grass. The water is in the upper 70 to real low 80’s. The bait are stacking up in the creeks and working the bends and long stretches with deep crank baits can be a good pattern. Carolina and Texas rigs will work if the structure will let you work them through without hanging up to much. Don’t cuss the little fish as they are the future 7 to 10 pound fish and some will make the teens. Handle them carefully release then carefully. These small fish will be caught many times this month and to ensure they survive we need to handle them careful. The crappie are getting better as the weather stays cool. We need a little cold weather to get the big fish up and moving. We are catching plenty of small fish with some good fish mixed in. Jigs, baby bass assassins, and minnows are all working. Look in water 28 to 30 foot deep and they should been suspended around 15 to 20 feet. Don’t forget this is a good time to fill your freezer for the winter with bar fish or crappie. Well since the Mcdonalds Tournament Lake Fork has been very steady with good days (20-25 fish) and a few great days (40 fish) mixed in. The bass are from very shallow to way out deep and from the creeks to the humps. Right now you can kind of pick how you like to fish. The water temp is right around 80 degrees in the middle of the day and a few degrees cooler in the morning. Now the air temp is pretty cold in the morning so if your headed to the lake make sure you bundle up in the morning and wear something cool for in the afternoons when it gets hot. Now for the baits and patterns that have been producing for me. Their are so many so I am going to break it down for whats working in shallow water and then whats working out deep for me. For the shallow water (under 10 feet deep) bite the best bait has been a 5" Gary Yomamoto Senko or a Anglersonline.com strike stike. The best colors have been black/blue or watermelon. I have been fishing these around grass, pads, and timber. Fish them texas rigged with a 4/0 hook and no weight. The slower you can use it the better it seems. The other productive baits have been 1/4oz chrome blue spin traps (rat-l-trap) fished steady over main lake grass beds, texas rigged 7" junebug and blue fleck power worms on the edges of grass and creek bends, and zoom trick worm in pumkin/chart or watermelon/red fished wacky style overgrass and edges of grass. All of these baits will produce numbers of fish in case the deep bite gets slow. Now for my cup of tea the deep water fishing. I have had some nice fish around and a little over 8lbs this week coming on carolina rigged blueberry Zoom Ol' Monster worms and watermelon candy baby lake fork creatures and a Strike Work Tackle 1/2oz Black/blue wood jig with a matching trailer. I have been fishing these baits on main lake humps and points in 18-26 feet of water. Agian I am fishing these very slow. Look for points and humps that have alot of underwater cover, these seem to be the best. Fishing in deep water can be very slow at points but stay with it because it can be very worth while when you catch a big fish. Out in this deep of water Im looking for the share a lunker fish that are not going to be in 10 feet of water or less right now. Also if you want to catch a ton of small 10-12 inch fish, fish around the bridges and pitch a 4 inch senko in any shad color. Fish it with no weight texas rigged. Just go in and out around the bridge flippng these baits and letting them fall for 10 to 12 sec. and then give it a twitch let it sit for a sec or two and reel it on in and flip it back out. and if you catch 1 there are most likely more in that small area you just caught that one from. I still have some open dates in October if you are interested in booking a guide trip on Lake Fork. To reach me call me at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com and shoot me an email. Well, this past week has been a good one. The Mc Donald Tournament was a great success. There were 1252 fish weighed including 5 over ten pounds. This was a showing that Lake Fork Is alive and doing well. One thing you need to remember is our slot wont allow fish 16 to 24 to be brought in for weighing. Because our fish are known for being short and fat there are many that may weigh over ten but to short to bring in. No matter the lake is proving that she is ALIVE and doing well. The fishing has been good with good numbers of small fish to keep you excited and a good fish mixed in for good measures. Tail spinners fished like spinner bait has been good. The shad are about one inch to one and a half long makes this bait work. Small crank baits in a shad pattern, lipless crank baits, Texas & Carolina rigs, weightless Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag baits, and buzz baits fished over and around the grass has been good producers. Top water in the early mornings have been good. Pop’R type baits are the best choice. The water temp is 80 to 84 degrees. The backs of creeks are a little off color but the main lake is clear. There fish are still schooling so keep a lipless crank bait or tail spinner handy to cast to the fish. Cast past the school and bring the bait back through and stall your retrieve where the fish were. The yellow bass are starting to show up on the humps. Jigging spoons and tail spinners dropped to the bottom and hopped up and down will catch these fish. The crappie are showing signs of getting a little bigger in the favorite spots. I fished Wednesday for a half a day and we and plenty little ones but did catch a mess of keeper size fish. We use small jigs. Minnows would have worked if you prefer them. Now is the time to get a fall Bass or Crappie trip together. Give me a call so we can set this up. This is a good Christmas gift. Give that special someone a Guided fishing trip. Well, sorry I didn’t get this out on Thursday morning. But here it is anyway. The fish are schooling almost anywhere you go. They will hit almost any thing. The size is small and smaller. There are a few good weigh fish mixed in at some of the stops. But many little fish. I hope the McDonald tournament will produce a lot of over fish. The lake is fine and the little fish prove we had a good spawn. So don’t cuss when you catch one just be gentle and release him. The coming front should help with the cloud cover. Main lake points with grass has been very productive. Look for deep water close to shallow and work some big crank baits and carolina rigs. The back of creeks has been productive on small schooling fish. This is a good area to take your son or daughter and get them hooked on fishing. The lake is about 16 inches low the water is 83 degrees. Good luck if you are fishing the tournament and keep the kill switch and life jacket on. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork bass fishing has been great the last week. I have had a couple of days reaching up to 40 fish a day. A good avg. is 25 fish. Most of the fish are coming early and late in the day but if you get into a school of fish you can put 15 fish in the boat in a matter of minutes. I have been fishing main lake all the way to the back of creeks so the fish are scattered everywhere. Most of the fish Im catching have been coming out of shallow water because people are prefishing for the Mcdonalds Tournament. Im starting the day out right before daylight and throwing a pearl slug-go or a white 3/8oz T.O. buzzbait over the grass in 4-8 feet of water. As soon as the sun starts to come up Im switching to a black/blue 5" senko fished with no weight around the same grass where I was throwing the other baits. This is deadly right now. If your not catching fish early move fast and find them because the fish are feeding very good early. Now if your going to fish up shallow stay in the 8 to 12 foot range when the shallower bite slows and texas rig a 7" bluefleck or junebug power worm around grass lines and timber close to the grass. Fish these on a 1/4oz weight and a bead and fish them slow. Also keep achrome bLue 1/4oz rattle trap handy. If you catch a few on a worm in the same area start throwing the rattle trap in that area and if there was a school there you'll find out real soon because you'll do more catching than fishing for a few minutes. Im fishing these untill it gets close to dark then going back up shallow with a senko the last 1 1/2 before dark. Now for those who like to fish deep like me this week has been up and down. I had some good 6 to 8 pound fish in the boat this week and one lost at the boat in the 10lb class. One day this week I got fish in 30-35 feet of water. Now these are the big fish so If you want to get away from the dinks get in atleast 20-25 feet to get them. I am using 2 baits to get these deep fish. The first is a blueberry or plum-apple 10 1/2 inch Zoom Ol'Monster carolina rigged with a 3 1/2 foot leader and a 1oz weight. The other is a watermelon/Red or Black/Blue 1/2oz strikeworksjig with amatching Zoom Super Chunck. This should help those at the Mcdonalds Tournament this weekend. Well, the cool has left us wondering where did it go? We are now in the normal weather pattern. The fishing has been good. The little bass that were born this spring have invaded the banks and are schooling off and on. Top water such as the Pop’r type baits are working very early. Wacky worms, Wave Tiki Sticks weightless, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag’s weightless, Spinner baits, and tail spinner type baits fished like a spinner bait have been very productive. Texas and Carolina rigs are working around the grass and main lake points. The lake Is a little low and the water is around 82 degrees. This should set the stage for a great McDonald tournament. The northern areas are a little stained but the south end is clear. . The crappie are still running small with some good fish mixed in. I still have a few days open next week, for those who wont to get out and find a run or good spot call and we can set up a date. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5988

Lake Fork has been great the last week with 25-35 fish being put in the boat a daywith the biggest this week being a 8lb 7oz bass and a few over 7lbs. The main key early and late is to stay around the grass and during the middle of the day stay in 10-14 feet and 20-24 feet. The water temp is in the low 80s still but rising with the 90+ degree days we are having. The water has a good color to it and clairity is around 3 feet. Early start out around grass beds in 4 to 8 feet of water. If its still close to dark throw a chug bug in shad color or a pearl slug-go in and around the grass beds untill the sun starts to come up. As soon as the sun starts to come up Im switching to a Black/blue Yamamoto Senko texas rigged with no weight. Throw this around all the grass you can. I have been fishing it slow around the edges of the grass and over the grass. Pay close attention to your line and always check your bait with a tight line before you twitch this bait. Fish it with a twitch twitch and a 5 second pause and do this over and over. This has been very good for those 2-3lb fish. Great for those in the Mcdonalds Tour. Im fishing this untill 9am or so when the bite starts to dye of agian. When this happens and youll know cause it seems like the fish just shut down, Kick out to sround 10-14 feet and start throwing a T.O. centipede in Kudzu or Black/Blue on a carolina rig. Fish it with a 1/2oz weight and a 2 foot leader. Fish these on main lake or secondary points that have grass around them. If your looking for a little better fish I have been throwing a small black/blue strikeworks jig with a matching trailer and fishing it like a worm in the same places as a centipede. These baits will produce fish for the rest of the day at least untill it get close to dark then Im swiching back to a black/blue senko untill dark then coming in. For those who are looking for that fish of a life time keep away from shallow water. I have had very good catches in 20-24 feet of water. Out this deep Im throwing a 10 1/2 inch Zoom Ol Monster worm in blueberry or plum apple. Fish these slow with a 1oz weight and 3 1/2 foot leader. Fish these very slow and crawl them along the bottom with long pauses inbetween pulls. Fish these baits on main lake humps and ridges on the south end of the lake. Also watch for large schools of small bass out deep. If you catch a few small fish on a big bait go to a watermelon Baby ring fry with a chart tail dyed tail. You can find huge school of 10-16 inch fish out deep and when you get on them you can ripem for a couple of hours. For those who want to put 40+ fish in the boat throw a 3/8oz T.O. tailspinner in any color over grass and around it in 5-11 feet deep. Throw them all day the can put alot of fish in the boat. Most are pretty small nut it can be fun at times. I still have a few days in sept. open and 1 day for the week before Mcdonalds tour comes up. If your interested in booking a trip give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com and email me. Lake Fork fishing has been very good in the last week. The water temp is stay from 78 degrees in the morning to 83 in the afternoon. The water is pretty clear with about a 4 foot range of seeing your bait in the water. Altough we have a hi-pressure sitting on top of us it hasnt hurt the numbers of fish we are catching, A good avg. is 25 fish. Lots of small ones The bigger fish have slowed down some. Early this week I had a 9lb 12oz bass caught in my boat and also a 8lb. 2oz the next day. The last couple of days the biggest has been around 5 pounds or so. The fish have been better up shallow than deep altough the big fish Im finding are in 20-25 feet of water. Up shallow the key is stay around grass in 5-10 feet all day if your a shallow fisherman. Start the morning off with a white buzzbait around matted grass. My favorite lately has been a T.O. buzzbait with a gold blade and clacker. Fish this untill the sub=n starts to get up around 8:30 or so and switch to a pearl senko texas rigged with no weight. Fish these around the patches and edges of the grass for an hour or untill the fish shut dowm on them. For the rest of the day I have been throwing a couple of diffrent things and switching them up everyday to find out which the fish want best. Here they are and you can catch fish on all of them. Fish all these baits over the grass beds on the main lake. 1st is a T.O. tail spinner in 3/8oz with a gold blade and any color seems to work. 2nd throw a Allens 1/2 Rattlin milo in baby bass. 3rd Strike Works finesse jig in watermelon or black/blue with a matching trailer. 4th drop shot a pearl 2'' senko with a 1 1/2 foot leader. Work all these baits slow around the tops of the grass and outside edges of the grass. The key is to stay around the grass if your shalow. If your a deep water person like me I will sit in deep water and take less fish but catch bigger fish. The best baits have been a crolina rigged baby creature in watermelon, Zoom Ol monster in blueberry, or a T.O. fry in black/blue or kudzu. Other good baits have been A texas rigged 8" ring worm in watermelon with a chart. dyed tail. Fish these slow on main lake humps and ridges in 20-25 feet of water. The bite will be alot slower but its worth it when you get a 10lb fish in the boat. All T.O. lures are only avalible at Axtons Bass City on Lake Fork or Japan. If you havent fished with these baits they are designed by the guy who won the bassmasters classic Takahiro Omari. I still have some dates open for Sept. and the rest of the year. If you are interested in boking a trip give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com and shoot me an email. Good luck to those during the Mcdonalds Tournament and be safe. Well, the temp on my front porch was 56 this morning. The cool weather is a great surprise for us this time of year. I still wonder if the winter will be a cold one or not. The Farmer’s Almanac for the coming year says the winter will be mild to normal. We will have to wait and see. The fishing has been very good . Top water Pop’R type baits are good morning starters. I have been working it a little faster than normal. Small crank baits worked slowly over the grass have been good. You will have to work the bait a couple of cast to get the speed down. This applies to spinner baits to. The wacky worm was working good along the grass and the last couple of days it has slowed down. The best bait has been a tail spinner worked like a spinner bait over the grass. This bait has been about the size of the shad the fish are feeding on. The fish are schooling and most are small but there are a few good fish mixed in. The water temp is down to the low 80’s. The little fish are scattered from the deep water to the shallow’s. I caught fish that were barely six inches long out in 25 foot of water. This is the normal fishing we have for this time of year. The little fish show up with a few good fish mixed in, then the water gets colder and the good fish pull up. The best thing is what ever you like to throw is working. The yellow bass are showing up on the humps and this is a good thing for the younger fishermen. You can get your kids bit with these hard fighters once you have located them. Drop a spoon or crappie jig down to the bottom and reel up just a little and bounce the bait and hold on. The crappie are running small with many throw backs before you get your limit. 16 to 18 foot down in 25 to 30 foot of water. The usual jigs and minnows are the best baits. The McDonald tournament is right around the corner. I still have some days open if you wont to get out and get and ideal of what to do. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the weather is still ruling the fishing. The recent cold front did not turn into much. The water temp has remained in the low 80’s. The top water bite is still good. The fish have been fair to small with a good fish ever now and then. Lipless crank baits, spinner baits, Carolina and Texas rigs , wacky worms are all working early and off and on during the day. The Wave Tiki stick fished weightless around and over the grass has been very productive. The Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag and baby ring fries have been good in the above areas. The fish are schooling but not in great numbers. The lake is clear and down about 16 inches. After the sun gets up move out to deeper water and use Storm swim baits, Carolina and Texas Rigs, Jigging spoons and deep diving crank baits. Don’t over look the jig in this same area as a half ounce jig can get you a big bite in the creeks or on drop offs. The crappie are back to running small again. The bigger fish will soon get under the bridges at 16 to 18 feet. I hope all will be careful this Labor Day Weekend. Don’t litter and keep all your trash in bags so it wont blow out of the boat. Lake Fork has been a little tough the last couple of days but still getting close to 20 fish a day but not many quality fish. We have a hi-pressure sitting on top of us and hasnt moved. The news is showing rain coming in this weekend and the fish should turn on big time. The lake level is right around normal pool. The water temp is around 83 degrees lake wide from north to south and the weather outside has been around 90 degrees for the high and a slight cool breeze through out the day. I am starting the day out in 3-7 feet of water over grass beds on main lake points and flats. In these areas im throwing a storm chug bug in shad patterns and working it slowly over the grass and around the edges where it drops off to deeper water. Make sure you keep a fluke or a senko rigged weightless for the fish that come up and miss the bait. when one hits the bait if it misses it and doesnt come back right after that a nd hit it agian throw the fluke or senko right past where the bite was got and work it slow thru the area. Wants the sun comes up and starts to bet down Im switching to a texas rigged 7 inch worm either a zoom u tail or a zoom mag ll. The better colors have been plum, blueberry, and watermelon. Fish these baits slow around the edges of the grass and any timber you find close to the edge of the grass. Use a lite weight and make sure you watch your line as the bait falls. On the fall is when some good bites are coming Around mid-day this bite has slowed down and Im getting out on main lake humps, points, and ridges and carolina rigging a mark pack baby lake fork creature in watermeoln or texas rigging a 10 1/2 inch zoom ol monster worm in black red glitter or blueberry. Set your boat in 25 feet of water and throw these baits in to 18 feet and work it back slow. This is when Im catchung the bigger fish up to 8 pounds or so. Make sure you around some timber. They seem to be sticking tight to the trees so when you come in contact with trees make sure work work them slow and very well. I think this is going to be a good weekend out on the lake since some rain is coming in. If you plan on coming out this weekend it should be good. If you would like to book a trip to Lake Fork for sept. or oct. I still have some dates open and I am starting to book crappie trips for this winter. You can call me at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com and email me and we can set up some dates to get you out on the water to catch some fish. The bass fishing on Lake Fork has been pretty steady lately. The water temp is in the low to mid 80s. The sun has been coming out and the air temp is getting to and above 95 degrees. The last couple of days the wind has been very bad with it being hard to fish some spots on the main lake. The fishing has changed a little bit with the water temps being so low for this time of year. I am starting out with a storm chug bug (shad color) around grass and trees on main lake points. Fish these baits at a medium speed around all the cover you can find. Make sure you keep a senko rigged up beside you in case a fish misses your chug bug. When this happens throw the weightless senko right behind the swirl and work it back slow. Color hasnt seemed to matter. Im fishing them in 2-6 feet of water untill the sun gets out and starts to get warm. Once the bite slows down I am kicking out to the out side grass lines in 10-16 feet of water on main lake humps, points, and ridges. On the edges of the grass try throwing a drop shot with a 1 1/2 to 2 feet leader and a 4" senko (watermelon) rigged wacky style on the hook. Fish this slow hopping and dragging it in and out of the grass. If this dosent produce fish try fishing the same areas with a carolina rigged 7" zoom mag 2 worm ( blueberry, watermelon, or green pumpkin). Fish these slow around the grass edges with a 3 to 4 foot leader. You can also catch good fish on a strike works finesse jig in black/blue with a flippin bue zoom swimming chunk. Fish these slow around the grass edges and swim it back to the boat. As the day starts to come to an end around 5pm or so switch to a texas rigged 10" zoom ol monster worm in blueberry or plum and fish it till dark in and around grass beds on the main lake. Fish it slow and stay in contact with your bait. If you where fishing for big fish only I would fish the 10" zoom ol monster on a texas rig in 15-25 feet of water all day but this a slower bite and some people cant throw a bait all day with only 7 or 8 bites. This is the way for the monster fish. I still have dates open for this summer and fall. Well, the weather has still been unbelievable. The fishing is still good. The fish are schooling in some areas off and on. Spinner baits, lipless crank baits, small crank baits, and top water are all working to catch fish early till about 10 or 11 o‘clock. The Wave Tiki Stick and Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag fished weightless either Texas or wacky style has been very productive. Texas and Carolina rigs fished along the grass and out on the main lake points and deep humps are also good producers. The grass continues to hold on and continues to grow. Many pockets are completely covered out to ten feet deep. This is grass like in the 90’s. There are still some areas where the grass is not present. Once again you can throw almost anything you like to throw and catch a few fish. Get and early start for top water unless it is cloudy. Keep a top water or a lipless crank bait tied on for the schooling fish. The crappie are biting pretty good out in 25 to thirty feet of water suspended down about 16 to 18 feet. Small jigs cast out about 18 feet and let sink slowly will get you a good mess. If minnows is your thing just drop the minnow to about twenty feet and slow reel up to you come into contact with the fish. You can cast out and let them sink slowly like jig fishing but this will kill them soon. Remember this is the last weekend you can fish on your old license. If you can figure out the new ones you might be a lawyer. Since I don’t hunt or fish salt water I guess I got all I need for about $28. Still this is cheap entertainment for a whole year. So don’t forget to get your license renewed. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork fishing has been up and down with fronts and hi-pressure systems moving in and out. I have had great days with fish to 9lbs and 30 fish down to 15 fish with a 5 pound fish being the biggest. The water temp is in the 80s and rising and droping with the weather. This has really scattered the fish, although some days they have turned on. I still start my day with a 10 1/2 inch Zoom ol-monster worm texas rigged in 15-20 feet deep. The best colors have been blueberry, Black red glitter, and blackberry.I am fishing these on humps, roadbeds, and points untill the bite turns off which is sometime around 10am. The bite has been good all day if you get out when it is clowdy. When that bite slows I am switching to a carolina rigged baby lake fork creature or a baby ring fry. The best colors have been watermelon with the tail dyed in chart. dye when its sunny and blue bruiser when its clowdy. Fish these baits in 18-25 feet of water over humps, roadbeds, points, and ridges on the main lake.I am keeping this on till around 5pm and switching back to the 10 1/2 inch worm untill dark. During the last few days I have seen alot of good fish schooling up to around 5 pounds. I have been keeping a 3/4 oz chrome blue rattle trap by my feet for when they come up and it has been very effective and you can throw these things a mile so it lets you get those fish that use to be just out of range If you just want to catch some fish you can always take a Strike works finnese jig in black/blue with a small trailer and flip trees on humps in 6-10 feet of water or try drop shoting a wave tiki drop in smoke shad around grass on humps or ridges. I still have some open dates for August and some for Sept. if you are interested in booking a trip. For booking info call 903-765-3980 or visit www.fishinlakefork.com and email me. Well, the fishing is really going good. The recent cool weather has got the bass schooling. The mornings are spent with just about anything you want to throw. Top water, weightless Wave Tiki sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZags. Wacky worms, buzz baits, and spinner baits. When the fish are up lipless crank baits will be the best bait to throw. The grass is still getting thick and this is setting the stage for the fall fishing. The humps and main lake points are producing fish with Texas and Carolina rigs. The rain will help cool the water down and will help the top water bite. The crappie are getting bigger on a regular basis when you go out. The bridges and timber with jigs and minnows will get you some keepers. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork fishing is pretty much the same even with the storms and fronts blowing through. Water temps have droped to the low to mid 80s. The weather has been pretty nice even during the middle of the day. I have even wore a jacket the past couple of mornings. The weather has seemed to turn on the bigger fish with many over seven this week and 2 fish almost 10lbs caught out of my boat. The numbers are still around 18-25 fish a day and holding to that pretty steady. Like I said the fishing is pretty much the same as it has been. I am still starting the morning of with a blueberry Zoom Ol' Monster 10 1/2 inch worm. In the past couple of mornings a black/blue 1/2oz Strike Works Jig with a flippin blue zoom super chunk has also caught some nice fish. I am still fishing these baits in 18-24 feet of water from about 6am till around 10:30am or so. Work these baits over humps, ridges, and main lake points. Fish these baits very slow and work any cover you feel on the bottom very thorough. The slower the better it seems. You can also catch a few fish early in the morning around grass patches throwing buzzbaits or a chugbug in white. This is good if you want fish smell on your hands but not for the monster most come out to Lake Fork looking for. After the morning bite slows down I am switching to a carolina rigged Zoom speed craw or baby Lake Fork creature. The most productive colors have been watermelon when its sunny and blue brusier or black/blue when its clowdy. Agian fish these baits very slow.and work any cover you feel thorough. Fish these baits in the same areas you fished in the morning like humps and ridges just out a little deeper (22-28 feet deep). When the temps. start to cool off around 6pm try switching back to the 10 1/2 inch worm or the 1/2oz jig to finish off the day. Fish them in the same areas and water depth as you did in the start of the day. This should help those coming out to the lake this week and If you would like some help I have some open dates still open in August and the rest of the Fall. Well, if you didn’t know better you would think it was fall. This is unseasonable for August. I just wrote about the dog days of summer in my monthly report but it looks like we wont have them this August. I only hope this is not going to be one of those years where it will be 90 in December. The fishing has been good with the weather holding cool. The wacky worm, small spinner baits, buzz baits, lipless crank baits, and crank baits are all working early. There are a few top water bites for the top water fishermen. When the sun has gotten up Texas and Carolina rigs are the baits I switch to around the humps, main lake points and grass. The Ten inch power worm can’t be beat on a Texas rig this time of year. Swim baits and spinner baits are good on the suspended fish. The deep diving crank baits are a good choice on the suspended fish if you like to pull a crank bait. Remember the Mc Donald tournament is not far off. You need to be thinking about places and brushing a few spots to have you a honey hole all to your self. I have some time open if you want to book a trip to get a few ideals. The crappie are starting to gang up under the bridges and the timber is still holding fish if you don’t like to fish the pilings. Small jigs and minnows are the key baits. The fish are suspended about 16 to 18 feet down. You can fill your freezer for the winter. If you wont to book a bass or crappie trip call after 7PM and we can set it up. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork has slowed down some with that last cold front that moved in.The water and air temps dropped but are on the rise very quickly. The water temp is around 85 degrees and climbing to the 90s. The shallow water bite has seem to be a little better than it was but Im still staying out deep for the most part. The numbers have gone down but the 7-10lb fish are still coming in pretty regular. I am still starting out in the morning with a 10 1/2 inch zoom ol monster worm in blueberry or black neon. fish these on a texas rig with a 3/8 oz weight and glass bead. fish it very slow around any cover you can find in 15 to 20 feet on main lake humps, ridges, and points. When the morning action slows down try switching to a carolina rig with a 1oz weight and 3 foot leader. Throw a mark pack baby creature in watermelon or a zoom speed craw in watermelon and dye the tails in chart. dye. Fish these on the same humps, ridges, and points you fish in the morning just out a little deeper like 20-26 feet deep. I have been fishing a carolina rig through out the day utill around 5 or so and then swicthing back to the worm to finish off the day. If you get in the mood to catch some fish try a drop shot up around the grass beds in 8 to 12 feet deep and use a smoke shad tiki drop by wave inc. These are small fish but fun to catch on spinning reels and lite line. I still have dates open for august and it is never to early to book a trip for any time of the year. If you would like to book a trip give jimmy a call at 903-765-3980 or visit him at www.fishinlakefork.comand email him. Thank you Jimmy Everett Sponsored by: Skeeter, Yamaha, Strike works inc. Well, the weather is still unstable. Here we are in August and another cold front is on the way. I wonder if the old timers are right about us having a really cold winter. Food for thought. Huh! The fishing is picking up and some good fish are being caught. The deep fish are hitting Texas, Drop shot, and Carolina rigs. The Tiki four inch smoke shad or Lake Fork Tackle baby ring fries on the drop shot or Carolina rig The swim baits are still working on the suspended fish. Start your mornings with wacky worms and top water and when the sun gets up move out deep. This weeks sun and hot temps brought the water temp back up some. Still in the mid eighties. The wind has been light and this is a time we really need it. The lake has been like glass and the only relief has been to run the boat. The crappie are starting to show up around the bridges and are getting bigger. A limit is getting a little easier. 16 to 18 feet is the magic depth. Small jigs and minnows are good choices. Remember the Mc Donald tournament is only a month away and this is a good time to put you some brush out on a spot where you wont have twenty boats on you. Find some creek bends and drop you a few brush piles. Most fishermen wont take the time to do this. They will be the ones who will be complaining about all the boats on their favorite spot and you will be sitting out all a alone. This is about the right time to get the brush down so the fish will have a few weeks to relate to it. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork is back to normal after the storms we had. During the rain the fishing was great with 30+ fish days. Now the temp. is back up to 97 and the water temp is around 89 degrees for an average of the lake. As of now Im putting around 25 fish a day in the boat with clients upto about 9 lbs. Im starting the day in 20-30 feet of water and staying in deep water all day. 75 percent of my fish are coming on a zoom ol monster 10 1/2 inch worm. The most productive colors have been blueberry, plum, black neon, and watermelon/red. Im texas rigging this bait with a 3/8oz bullet weight and a glass bead with a 4/0 hook. Fish these baits on humps, ridges, and points. If you find the fish not wanting this in the middle of the day try the same colors in the zoom mag 2 which is their 7 inch model worm. Other baits that is still catching fish are a 4" wildeye swim bait by storm in pearl and a carolina rigged baby lake fork creature in killer craw or watermelon with the tail dyed in chart. dye. The Fishing has been very good for big bass this summer even during the heat. Hope thisreport helps anyone coming to the lake and if you would like to book a trip I still have some summer dates open and its never to early to book your fall, winter, or spring trip. Well, the weather is in the news again. The rains that hit Lancaster didn’t hit Lake Fork We got about a half an inch. The recent cool front stalled the fishing some but should rebound quickly. The water temp is in the mid 80s, this is strange for this time of year. The best bet has been start your mornings with small buzz baits, spinner baits, and Texas rig worms. Mid day on switch to Carolina rigs, drop shots, big crank baits, and swim baits. Work these baits over humps, main lake points, and around grass. I know this sounds like the same report every week but during this time of year the fishing is basically the same. The crappie are starting to get bigger and the number of better fish are showing up. 16 to 18 foot of water has been the best depth to locate them. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork has been good this summer untill the day after that front that blew in in a tough day we only boated around 10 fish but had one over 8lbs to help the day look better. Now that the cold front has passed the deep fish have gone crazy (really good). The afternoons have still been better for me. The topwater bite has picked up in the last few mornings on white buzzbaits with a clacker on the blade has done well. Fish these baits on shallow banks(2-4 feet)in coves or old ponds early in the morning. Make sure some grass is present and make long cast. I am still starting out in deep water unless someone says they want topwater action. In the morning I am fishing a texas rigged 10" power worm or zoom ol' monster in blue fleck, plum, black/blue, or black neon. Fish These baits on humps and ridges in 15 to 20 feet deep. Fish very slow and make repeated cast to the same holes. Im catching some real hogs right now doing this. At about 10am the bite slows down and I getteing out deeper on the same ridges and hump that I was fishing in the morning. Fish in 20-30 feet deep. Out in the deep water I have been throwing a carolina rigged baby lake fork creature or a zoom speed craw. Watermelon wih the ends dyed in chartruse. Fish these baits with a 1 oz weight and a 3 foot leader. I have also had some good fish still coming on a strike work jig (www.strikeworks.com) in white or camo colors and fish them just like a texas rigged worm. A few fish a still being caught on a drop shotwith a 2 to 3 foot leader and a pearl zoom super fluke has been the best. When it gets around %pm I am going back to the texas rigged 10"worms and fishing them in the same places I did in the morning till the end of the day. Remember I still Have some dates open for this summer and fall and those who are fishing the mcdonalds tournament in September I have A couple of days open to pre-fish. Well, once again the fishing report is still the same. The water has climbed up to the lower 90 degree range. The morning bite is short and then the deep structure is the key. Texas and Carolina rigs on deep humps, swimming spinner baits, jigs and deep diving crank baits. The fish are suspended and can be caught with a count down method. The night fishing has been good with big worms, big spinner baits, and jigs. The buzz bait at night is another good choice. The crappie are fair with plenty of little fish. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

The bass fishing is still good on Fork with the better fishing coming in the afternoon. The top water bite has picked up a little in certain places. The water temp is still in the mid to upper 80s with water in the creeks getting up to mid 90s in the afternoon. If your a topwater person then the topwater bite is coming back but not enough for me unless my client says thats what they want. Most of the bites Im getting are coming in the back of creekss where ther is alot of grass present. Best if you can find some that is matted up. If you find this type of water try throwing a tournament moss master frog or a 10" worm with no weight. Throw these baits in the thickest slop you can and let them sit over any holes in the grass you come across. The color of the baits hasnt been a big deal because the fish only have a split second to see it before they hit it in the grass. This should draw strikes untill around 9am or sounless there is cloud cover present. If your like me I dont really top water fish unless the fish are on it good. I have been starting in 20 feet of water and staying between 20-30 feet all day. There are a few baits that will work all summer and the patterns dont change much because the weather and water temps dont change much. I have been fishing a carolina rig baby lake fork creature the last couple days with good catches. Watermelon with the tail dyed in chartruse has been my color of choice. The other baits I have caught good fish on is a storm wildeye swim bait in pearl. Fish the pearl 4" with a paddle tail. Rip these baits off the bottom and let it swing back to you. These baits have also caught good schooling fish when you find schooloing fish over 10" long. Last but not least is a Jig in 1/2oz. The best jig I have found is strikework inc. jig(www.strikeworks.com). I have caught good fish on black/blue and black, pumpkin green flake, and chartruse. Fish these baits on the bottom like a texas rig or swim the jig for suspended fish. Remember stay deep for the big ones. One last thing is that out deep pay attention to your graph for suspended fish or fish on the bottom. You can catch both but find out what your fishing for, that will help you determine the bait to use. If your electronics arnt geat try deep spots and when your done with your cast reel it in slow. If you start catching fish on the reel up the fish are suspended. If youd like to come out to Lake Fork to try some of those deep bass give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit www.fishinlakefork.com to book a trip. Lake Fork bass fishing has been good with the avg. day having 15-25 fish. The water is pretty clear and the water temp is in the mid 80s. I have been starting out on humps and points throwing a anglersonline.com strike stick (watermelon) in 4-6 feet of water around grass. As soon as the sun comes up Im moving out to 20-30 feet of water. Im spending all day out on main lake ridges and humps. When Ipull up on a spot I have two rods ready for each person in the boat. One rod has a carolina rigged 10" to 12" inch worm in blue fleck or black neon. When the fish are feeding on the bottom this is what you need to throw. Pay close attn. to your graph to figure out what the fish are doing. On the second rod I'll have a storm wild eye swim bait in a shad color. Fish these for suspended fish. Throw them out let them fall to the bottom and rip them off and let them swing to you like fishing a little george or tailkicker. The fishing has been good with fish from 7-10 lbs coming in almost daily and somtimes up to 5 fish in this size range a day. There are a few days where the big ones dont bite but the fishing is still good. Well, as I told you last week we I was afraid we were in for some HOT temps. The mornings have been nice as I have been running mostly morning trips. The wind has been strong enough to keep you cool till lunch then it has stopped and MERCY it has gotten hot. I am still have a few fish on top water baits early. Yellow magic has been the choice. Work slowly with small jerks and stop and go retrieve. When the sun gets up the Texas and Carolina rig is the next bait I switch to. Small crank baits around the grass edges is another good bait. There is a little schooling and lipless crank baits will work on these fish. The deep fish are suspended and can be caught on several baits. Big crank baits, Storm Wild Eyes, lipless crank baits, spinner baits and swimming white jigs are all good deep water baits. Find the fish with your electronics and count the baits down to where you think the fish are and work the baits till you get the depth down. This will take some work till you get the rate of fall on the bait you are using. The crappie are still plentiful but they are still small. The main thing is the shade under the bridges is cool and the fish are biting. Remember to drink plenty of liquid as this heat will drain you quickly. Sun screen is a must. Don’t forget put your sun screen on soon as you get up and wash your hands and then the sun screen will set before you get to the lake . Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Fishing is still good out on Fork right now. The deeper fish are starting to bite a little better every day. The water temp is 84 degrees and the lake level is at normal pool. I have once agian put the top waters down becacse the fish just dont want them. If you feel the need to throw one you can catch a few on a black/blue buzzbait and a yellow magic in a shad color. I have been starting out throwing a strike stick by anglersonline.com or a zoom fluke in watermelon and dying the tip in chartruse dye. I have been fishing these in 4 to 6 feet of water around main lake points and hump with grass present. When the morning bite slows down switch to a carolina rigged or drop shot zoom baby brush hog or zoom speed craw in watermelon, pumpkinseed, or green pumpkin. Agian dye the tips in chartruse dye.Fish these baits around humps, ridges, and points in 15 to 22 feet of water. Fish the baits slowly to catch bigger fish and faster if your trying to get those 14 to 16 inch fish. I have been fishing these baits all the way to dark. As it gets dark if your in the topwater mood you could try it agian around grass but I would stay with the deeper water bite. It hasnt been uncommon lately to catch 25 to 30 fish a day. Well, this time of year the fishing report sounds just like last week. This is because the fish will be in their summer patterns till mid to late September. The mornings are still producing some top water bites on Pop’r, Buzz bait, weightless Wave tiki sticks, and weightless, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZags. Fish these baits slow around the grass till the sun gets up and switch to either Texas or Carolina riggs. Work the edges of the grass and then get out on the deep water humps and main lake points. The water is still holding in the mid 80’s but in great shape. Pitching a jig around the grass is a good big bite bait. Pitch any timber, stumps, and openings in the grass. The deep fish are best targeted with your electronics and then back off and cast to them. When you find the fish suspended swim baits like Spinner baits, jigs, Storm Wild eyes, and big crank baits. Either count down the slow sinking baits, or cast past the fish with the big crank baits and pull them down. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork is still on fire right now with at 25-35 fish a day coming into boats. The water temp. is still in the very low 80s on the main lake and 85 in the creeks. The Lake is a little high but just by a couple of inches and all gates are closed at the time of this report. The fourth of July weekend was ver.y good fishing. There didnt seem to many people fishing but there were many people oout there sking, tubing, and swiming. This is great and I'll tell you why. All the fish on the south end humps and ridges pulled out of the grass and out in deep water and bunched up. All the people in their party boats keep running over them so the moved. It took me a couple hours to figure it out but when I did the fish were their and willing to hit. To start out the morning Im still fishing a 3 bladed buzzbait in black/blue over the grass in 2 to 4 feet of water. Fish it extremly slow where it will barley bubble on the surface. At around 8am Im getting out in to 15 feet of water and throwing a carolina rigged zoom baby brush hog or ulta vibe speed craw both made by zoom and avalible at www.anglersonline.com. remember to dye the tail or pinchers on these baits in chartruse. I put the boat in 15 feet of wter where I can throw to grass or turn around and hit deep water without moving the boat. I have been fishing these baits uop to dark and maybe throwing the buzzbaits right before dark. Schooling fish are starting to show up more and more latly and I have had good success throwing an angersonline soft plastic stickbait in watermelon to the schoolies. If you would like to book a trip this summer to see the action of deep water fishing give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com Thank you and good fishing Guide Jimmy Everett

Lake Fork has been doing great in the last couple of days. The water temp is the low 80s and all the storms have seemed to pass and we are getting nice weather now. The Bass fishing has been good with black/blue buzzbaits working great in 1 to 2 feet of water. Make sure you have a trailer hook and a 3 blade seems to work a little better than a 2 blade. Also work your bait very slow over grass and timber on main lake points. After the topwater bite slows down switch to a carolina rigged zoom centipede or ultravibe speed craw in watermelon, green pumpkin, or pumpkinseed and dye the tip or pinchers in chartruse dye. Fish this over main lake humps and ridges. These baits really seem to work good in the grass in 6-10 feet of water on top of the humps and ridges. If you arnt getting hit in the grass kick out to 15 to 20 feet and throw your arm off. The afternoon bite has been much better than the morning bite. Myself and 2 clients had over 25 bass today and 20 of them came in the afternoon with 5 bass over 5 pounds and a lost fish at the boat I think was over 10lbs. @0 fish afternoons havent been uncommon lately. So if you have the time you shopuld come out to Fork and give it a try and I hope this report helps you catch fish.If you would like to book a trip to fish Lake Fork give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com Thank you Jimmy Everetts Guide Service Sponsored By: Fun-N-Sun Sporting centers, Skeeter, Yamaha, Action Optics Sunglasses For A new boat at a great price call Paul at Fun-N-Sun at 817-279-1991

Well, the weather has been something this summer. The rain and cooler temps have been out of the normal. I only hope this don’t spell trouble in August with a really big heat wave. The fishing has been good but had to dodge some thunderstorms. The top water bite is a little slow. Spinner baits, weightless Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag, and small crank baits are all good starters for the mornings. Texas rigs are another good starter. When the sun gets up move out deep. The fish are suspended and you will have to count down your baits to get them to the proper depth. Storm wild eyes, white jigs, spinner baits, lipless crank baits, drop shots, and big crank baits are all good baits for the suspended fish. The key is getting the bait at the proper depth where the fish are holding. The crappie are still plentiful but the size are starting to change some. Jigs and small minnows are the best baits. I hope all will have a SAFE AND HAPPY JULY 4th Jim Reaneau

If you havnt been out on Fork now is the time to do it. With all the afternoon fronts we have coming in everyday the fish have been going nuts. The weather forecast for afternoon fronts for the rest of the week also. The water temp is in the very low 80s which is good for this time of year. The outside temp isnt even hitting 90 so its been very enjoyable out on the water. I havnt been throwing to many baits right now because the fish are bitting and there is no need to swicth it up if its working. I have been starting out on main lake humps, ridges, and road beds in 4-12 feet of water and 17-20 feet of water. Most of my fish are coming out of the shallower water. The fish seem to be feeding very heavy on shad in shallow water right now. The only bait you really need in your boat are Zoom Ultevibe Speed Craws in watermelon and green pumpkin. It is a must to dye their pinchers in chartruse dye because of the water color. I have been carolina rigging them and texas rigging them depending on the depth. 4-8 feet throw the texas rig and anything deeper im carolina rigging them. I have also keep a bill norman DLN (deep little n) in shad with a black and green back. Im throwing this after I have worked my speed craws though an area or if I see bass schooling on shad. So put your topwaters up cause they arnt hitting them. These are the only baits I have needed for about a week now or more.I had a day yesterday with clients and had 34 fish and a half day today with 1 lady and had 21. Most of these fish are ranging from 2-5 pounds and have had fish over 7 coming in pretty regular now. I have also been fishing the south end of the lake because Im trying to stay in the clearist water I can. Some of the creeks are pretty stained and muddy right now. Date Posted: 06/26/2004 9:31 AM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Lake Fork has been pretty good in the last couple of days. The bass fishing continues to get better. The patterns have been easy to figure out and have stayed pretty consistant so far this summer. I have been starting out with my clients about 6:00 am. Now for those who like the topwater bite it has not been very good this year but you can pick up a few trowing one. When we start out with a topwater we are either throwing a zoom horney toad in black or white, or by throwing a yellow magic or storm chug bug in shad color. I have been fishing these in back of creek channels or main lake hydrilla flats. After the morning bite slows down I kick out the boat to about 15 feet and throw in to 8 and work it out. Im fishing road beds, humps, and main lake ridges. I like throwing a carolina rig but will also throw a texas rig in the same places. The baits I have found to be most productive are zoom speed craws, baby brush hogs, and centipedes. The colors that good are the same almost every year which are green pumpkin, watermelon, and watermelon/red. ON these baits I almost always dye the tip or tails in chartruse dye. This has been depth of water all day and fish seem to stay there but there are some fish I'm finding in 25-30 feet of water stacked up on main lake points and humps. Im throwing a carolina rig with a 10" blue fleck power worm or a pearl storm 5" swimbait and bouncing it off the bottom. The Skeeter owners tournament is coming and now would be a good time to scout out a spot. Lake Fork has been pretty good the last couple of days but the patterns have swicthed dramatically. I am still starting out the day with topwaters although they havnt been very good the last couple of days for me. Im starting out throwing black zoom horny toads or yellow magic (pop r) in shad. Then Im still kicking out to 6-14 feet of water and texas rigging and carolina rigging zoom speed craws in green pumpkin, watermelon, or pumpkinseed with the pinchers dyed in chartruse dye. I have beed fishing this all day but we experimented with a bandit 200 series crankbait in chartruse/black and brown/white/orange. Let me tell you it was a good experiment. We had many fish up to 8 pounds in the last 2 days in 6 feet of water. Most of these fish were close to the bank on small main lake points and road beds. These have been a no fail patterns for me for the past week or more. If you would like to get out on the lake and go fishing on Lake Fork give me a call at 903-765-3980 to book a trip. Or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com. Sponsored by: SKEETER,YAMAHA, Fun-n-sun sporting centers, action optics sunglasses Thanks agian Jimmy Everett |

Well, the weather is still a major factor. We have had more storms this week with rain. Luckily we need the rain and it was not a FROG strangler. The gates are still closed. The water temp is still in the mid 80’s. The fishing has been good with the mornings started with top water, wacky worms, spinner baits, Wave Tiki Sticks, small crank baits, and Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag’s. Work these baits early and when the sun gets up change to the Texas and Carolina rigs. Work around grass points and creek channels in 6 to 12 foot of water. After lunch start your search on main lake points and humps. Deep diving crank baits, swimming lipless crank baits, and Storm Wild eyes fished either on the bottom or where the fish or suspended. Just count the bait down to the depth you think the fish are holding. This almost a time of year you can fish your favorite bait and catch fish. Some folks like the Texas Rig while others like the Carolina rig. Remember there are days that the fish wont hit a Texas rig but will hit a Carolina rig. So when you have fished your favorite spot with no bite put a lite weight Carolina rig thru the area. Try a smaller bait such as a French fry, baby ring fry, or 4 inch Tiki stick. The crappie are still plentiful around the bridges but are still running small. The Sketter tournament is not far off and this would be a good time to be out scouting. If you need a guide give me a call to take you out . I still have dates open in July. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Bass Fishing is starting to pick up more and more it seems. My better times are coming late in the afternoon that is why I run a 10-12 hour trip instead of 8 hours like most guides. Im starting out in the morning in shallow water, either in the back of creeks around grass or main lake ridges in 4-8 feet of water. In the creeks im throwing a zoom horney toad in black or junebug. Then switching to a texas rigged berkley power worm in tequila sunrise, green pumpkin, or red shad. The worms are also the baits Im throwng on the ridges. After the sun comes up Im scooting out to 6-14 feet and carolina rigging zoom speed craws in watermelon, green pumpkin, or pumpkinseed. Im also dying the claws in chartruse dye. I have been fishing this bait all day till it gets close to dark then swicthing to the same speed craws just texas rigging them in the same places I started out the day in. In recent days I have caught a few trolling crankbaits in 40 feet of water. Some of my better fih have come like this but the fish a little between bites. If youd would like to go fishing on Lake Fork and book a trip give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com. Well, the weather has finally settled down some. The rain has finally come to a halt. The gates are closed here at the lake so now everything is set to go fishing. The fish are in their summer patterns. You can still catch some fish on top water early. The Grass is really in good shape and the fish are holding in and around it. Weightless baits like the Wave Tiki Stick, Lake fork Tackle Zigzag, and scum frogs can be fished over it and look out. The grass is getting deep enough the drop a jig thru the mat. You will need a heavy jig to get it down thru the grass. This can be very productive and exciting. Look for grass six to eight foot deep and go down the edge and drop a jig beside the stumps or into the openings. Remember the water is only six to eight foot deep and watch your line as there may be a strike on the fall or as you lift the bait off the bottom. I have seen times when your line would just swim away on the fall and you would keep peeling off line and all of a sudden it would hit you hey this water isn’t this deep. The Texas and Carolina rigs are another good bait around the edges of the grass, they are also good out on the humps and main lake points. Spinner baits are working around the grass. Three eights ounce willow leaf in white with a gold and silver blade is hare to beat. The afternoon bite is primarily deep water. Big crank baits, Spinner baits, Storm wild eyes, and jigs fished out over the deep structure are productive. Use your electronics to find the humps and then look for the fish. Drop a marker and back off and throw to them. Remember don’t put your marker where the fish are throw it out away from them and use it to stay close. If you put the marker on the fish when you catch one you will usually tangle in it and move the marker. Now you will have to relocate the fish. The crappie are still running small but plentiful. Bridges and brush piles are the main spots. I still have some June Dates open if you want to book a trip give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork has picked up as far as numbers go. The fishing has been good the last couple of days. I start out in the back of the creeks with a snag proof frog in watermelon or the new zoom horny toad in watermelon/red or black. I have been fishing these baits over the grass and slop in about 2-5 feet of water. Most of the strikes have come when the bait comes to a hall but some of the bigger fish have come up right through the grass to get the bait. After the bite slows down its either to main lake points or flats. The deep bite is still not what it should be but it is picking back up in about 25 feet of water carolina rigging a zoom baby brush hog or a zoom centipede in green pumpkin with the tail or tip dyed in chartruse. Now most of my fish have been coming in 6-14 feet on a new bait called a zoom speed craw. I have been fishing it on a carolina and texas rig around the grass on the main lake points and flats. I have only used it in green pumpkin with the pinchers dyed in chartruse. I really dont think color matters because this bait is awsome. The action is increadible and unmatched by any bait. Make sure you pick up a pack to try on your way to the lake next time. Lake Fork has been a little slow this week avg 20 fsh a day. Although the fishing was a little slow the big fish have seemed to turn on a little. Last week and weekend i was booked every day including today. We had a day with an 9lb and a 8lb, a day with an 8 1/2lb bass today we had another 8, a day with a 7, and the day with the 9 and 8 I had a cleint hang a fish I would guess around 15 lbs. Its the biggest fish Ive had hung out of my boat in a couple of years. I had a clent catch a 13lb bass last year and this fish was much bigger. I regret to say that the fish straightened out a 4/0 gamakatsu hook.It was such a drag but the day was saved with other big fish. My deep bite has almost completly shut off. The topwater bite is gone, so the way to fish has changed. Ive been fishing main lake humps, road beds, and grass lines in 6-14 feet. This is where we are starting out and staying all day. Im roatating between 4 or 5 spots through out the day. I have been throwing carolina rigs and texas rigs for the most part. On both rigs Im throwing baby brush hogs, centipedes and baby lake fork cretures all in green pumpkin with the tips dyed in chartruse.Ive also caught some of the bigger fish on a 10 1/2 inch zoom ol monster worm in tequlia sunrise. Ive been staying with these because they have been out producing anything else Ive thrown. If you get a chance to come out you should do so and if you need a guide I would be happy to help. Well, once again the weather has been the topic of discussion. The rain has all creeks and rivers at or above their limits. The gates have been open here for several days. We haven’t had the rain most have had but we have had our share. The back of the creeks will be muddy this weekend. Look for the water where clear comes in contact with the muddy and you should find some biting fish. The old saying the fish will beat you to the bank when the water is rising maybe a true thought. Spinner baits in and around the flooded grass along with weightless baits. Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag, Texas and Carolina rigs, and Jigs are all good baits at this writing. The deep fish should be the best pattern after midday. The drop shot is a good bait when the fish suspend. The Jigging spoon, Tailspinners, big spinner baits, and jigs are all good baits on the humps and road beds. The crappie are still under the bridges and are still running small. Don’t forget this is a good time to put out brush for your own crappie fishing. The you can have your own private spot. Just keep it secret. I still have some June Dates open so give me a call and LET’S GO FISHING. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Lake Fork was a little windy today, but this has been a problem for the year it seems. I only had a half day trip today and managed to put 1 client on 8 fish. We started out in the afternoon around 2pm. We sat out on a main lake ridge (24 feet deep) untill it cooled down a little. He didnt have much luck out their but he did catch a few and the one that proved to be the biggest of the day. It weighed maybe 6 pounds. The fish we caught came on a carolina rigged watermelon Lake Fork Creature. We didnt catch a fish working the bait. All of our fish came as we started to reel in the bait. It was like they where following it untill it started to get away then they would hit it. If you havent fished one of these baits then you need to because the bait feels like a spinnerbait coming through the water. These creatures put out alot of water displacement. After it started to cool down we moved up on a main lake hump in 5 feet of water and caught the rest of our fish on a watermelon/candy 5" Gary Yomamoto Senko. This bait was fished texas rig with no weight and fished very slow. With the wind it was hard to feel the bites my client said but he did good anyways. If your looking to book a trip on lake fork give me a call at 903-765-3980 or visit me at www.fishinlakefork.com. Man it was hot today so I guess I was lucky to have a half day trip. I tried to make it a full day trip but couldnt talk them into stayin at the lake for the afternoon. With two people they boated 11 fish this morning. We started out in the back of a major creek throwing white buzzbaits and storm chugbugs in a shad pattern. These baits were fished around hydrilla and in the creek channel and where the two met. We missed alot of fish on short strikes and bad hooksets but was still lots of fun. After the topwater bite slowed down a little we switched over to a 5"Gary Yomamoto Senko in watermelon/black flake and caught a couple fishing this in the same areas as the topwaters. With about an hour let in the morning we moved out to main lake points and caught 1 on a carolina rigged 10" blue fleck power worm (9.8lbs which made the morning) and 1 on a carolina rigged 6" Gary Yomamoto Lizard in Watermelon/black flake. It proved to be a good morning and man i wish we would have caught the ones we missed but thats ok because our avg. fish was over 4 pounds and a kicker that was almost 10 which was a blast. Well, the weather has been the topic of the week, with all the storms. Some still are without power. We had several tornados touch down in towns very close to the lake. There are plenty of floating trees and debris all over the lake. Be sure to keep your eyes open. The fishing has been good with the mornings started with Pop’r, spinner baits, Texas, and Carolina rigs. The water is in good shape. Some creeks are muddy from the rains but on most part the lake is clear. The crappie are still running small under the bridges but they are plentiful. When the sun gets up moving under the bridges can be a cool spot. Small jigs and minnows are the best baits. Well, the wind has been a major problem the last couple of weeks. 25 and gusting has been the way it has blown. The wind doesn’t affect the fish but it does affect how and where you fish. Maybe the coming cold front will change the strength of the wind for a while. Don’t get me wrong I like wind but not 20 + MPH. The cloud cover has been good for early and all day top water action. The top water bite has been consistent and has produced some nice fish. Work the floating grass and on the out side edges of the hydrilla. Don’t forget buzz baits and scum frogs as these will work well over the thick mats. Remember on the top water bite you have to wait to set the hook or you will pull the bait away from them. Let the fish have the bait for a count to two. I know this is hard but it is a must to catch the fish. Weightless Wave tiki sticks fished wacky or Texas rigged, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag, small crank baits, and spinner baits have all been working. The deep fish have been on again and off again. We need some sun to get the deep fish out on the humps and roadbeds. But the cloud cover has been good by keep the temps down. The water temp is 78 and holding. The crappie are plentiful around the bridges but are running small. The timber and brush piles are producing fish. Small minnows and jigs are your best bait. The catfish are spawning and plentiful around the banks. The brim and perch are bedding and are also plentiful. This will keep the youngsters happy. Crickets are the best baits. If your planning a trip to the lake this weekend remember to watch the other guy and remember you are the other guy to him. When you get to the ramp to launch be sure you have the boat ready to get in the water before you back up on the ramp. There is nothing worse than having someone pull up to the ramp and get out and start loading things into the boat from the car. Remember this is a busy time and for all at the ramp so get in and out as soon as you can. Drink plenty of fluid and keep the sun screen out. Put Your sun screen on before you get to the lake. This will allow the sun screen to set. Usually everyone’s waits till they are burned before you start looking for the sun screen. Have a Safe Holiday weekend. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the spawn is finally winding down. The fish are seeking their post spawn and summer patterns. This the time of the year the fish will be feeding and you can set your watch on when to be some where. The mornings can be started with top water type baits. Weightless baits like Wave Tiki Sticks, Flukes, Trick Worms, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZag, and Ring fries are all good baits over grass and around points. Small crank baits and spinner baits are all good morning baits. The Carolina and Texas rig is a good midday pattern. The humps and main lake points are starting to hold fish. The lake is in great shape the water is clearing in the back of the creeks and the grass is still plentiful. The Crappie are plentiful. The bridges and brush piles are holding fish. The brush piles are holding better fish as the bridge fish are running small. This is a good time to put brush out to form your own brush to fish. I hear people all the time saying I wish I knew where the brush piles are. Well make your own and then you will know. I have some June Dates left if you want to book a trip give me a call. Well, the lake is finally full and the gates are closed. The lake is muddy in the creeks and up north. The water temp is in the low seventies and there are plenty of males protecting fry. Shallow crank baits have been good starters and finishers. The weightless Wave Tiki sticks, flukes, wacky worms and Lake fork Tackle Ring fries have been good starters and all day long. The top water bite has been good one day and slow the next. Pop’r type baits have been the best bet. Carolina rigs on the main lake points have been good out to ten foot of water. The spawn is still in full swing again. We have plenty of fry and new spawners on the banks. Lipless crank baits are doing a good job on some nice fish. Soon there will be fish in the deep water and shallow alike. The crappie have been moving out the deep water around the bridges. Small jigs and minnows are the best bet. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the fishing has really been up and down for all species. I want to tell everyone I do the best I can with this report. I post what happened last week and what may be going on for next week. When the weather changes during the weekend then the report will possible be wrong. I do the best I can. I thank everyone who reads the report. Now! The fishing has been up and down again. I still feel there are plenty of fish out which have not spawn. The full moon of May maybe the next wave of fish. The mornings have been started with top water Pop’r type baits, weightless Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle Ring fries, and buzz baits. Shallow is the best area to work and look for grass. I had a crappie trip last week and we caught fish in three to five feet of water. There are some fish under the bridges. Jigs and small minnows will get you some bites. I still have some May dates open if you want to book a trip give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the wind has been a factor for the last three weeks. It has blown 25 MPH everyday. MERCY this is driving us crazy. The fish are making a move to the banks again and are getting ready to spawn. The males are guarding fry and new males are moving up to get ready for the next wave. The best baits have been Top water, Flukes, Wave Tiki Sticks, Lake Fork Tackle ring fries, and one minus crank baits. The top water have been worked slowly then pause and let sit then slowly move it again. The weightless baits have been worked slowly, Let the fish swim off with the bait and then set the hook. Work the one minus around stumps and standing timber and submerged grass. The crappie are back in the shallow water and are hitting jigs and minnows along with spinner baits, This is a good time to get out and put a small cork and pitch around the stumps to catch your limit of good eating fish. I still have some May dates so give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the fishing is starting to pick up after the 35 degrees we had Wednesday. The water temp dropped a little but came back up with the warm sun. The wind is the factor right now. The wind is blowing about 25 plus for the next couple of days. The wind is not bothering the fish but it is giving us a fit on where to fish. The fish are making their way back to the beds and soon the banks will loaded with spawning fish. The best baits have been slow moving bait except the lipless crank baits on windy banks. The Wave Tiki Stick fished weightless over the grass and wacky style has been hard to beat. Dead stick the bait and then move it only slightly. The Lake Fork Tackle Ring Fry has been good in the off color water fished very slowly. There are some top water bites but not many. Spinner baits have been working some on windy banks. The crappie are moving back in to the coves and will soon start to spawn again. The bridges have been producing some fish but hard to get to because of the wind. I still have some May dates open if you are interested in a trip on Fork. Give me a call after &PM. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the weather has been something else. The water temp is going up and down like a yo-yo, The fish are very skittish and scattered. The approaching front will set us back again as the night temps are going to be in the thirties. Cover plenty of water and work your baits slowly. The Wave crawdude has been a good pitching bait around beds and grass. The Lake fork Tackle ring fry and baby creature are working well weightless around timber and grass. The crappie are making their way back to the bridges and small jigs and minnows are the best baits. Look for 25 foot of water I still have a few days in May open if you want to book a trip call. May is a good month for top water and the fish will start getting into a pattern. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the recent cold front has slowed the bite. The fish were ready to move up and the temp dropped and the water temp dropped and the fish got real skittish. The recent rain did bring the lake up a little but not much. Some back areas of creeks are muddy. The grass up north is really getting thick and the fish are bedding up in it. Hopefully this next front wont drop the water temp again and stall out the spawn. The fish want to get their eggs laided but the water changing temp is stopping this. The surface temp is in the upper sixties but the trolling motor temp is still in the upper fifties. Soft jerk baits like the Wave Bamboo, Tiki Stick, Lake Fork Tackle Ring Fry, and Wacky worms are the baits of choice. The light weight Carolina rig is a good bait to get out in five to seven feet of water and work the banks and small points. SLOW is the ticket. The bedding fish are a little hard to catch but can be caught with a little work. The crappie have even been effected with the water temp drop. There are some fish being caught around the bridges. Minnows on floats around timber and the banks have worked and jigs on the bridges. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the fishing is taking a good turn for the much better. The fish are in the shallows and are bedding as we read this. There are plenty of fish on beds and more to come. The water is holding at 60 degrees in most areas. Wave Tiki sticks fished wacky and weightless , Lake Fork Tackle ring fries fished weightless, Texas Rigged worms and lizards, lipless crank baits, and spinner baits fished over the grass in the shallows will get you bit. The spawn is on and there will be more fish to show up everyday. The mornings have been a little slow till the water warms up a little and then the bite starts good. If you like to sight fish get you some good Polaroid glass with amber lenses as they will see into the water better and hit the pockets and feeder creeks. Look for the sandy spots or as we call them sun spots. There should be some fish in them. Watch the fish and keep the bait in the middle of the bed and wait till the fish makes a move on the bait. The crappie are also in the shallow water. We are catching them on bass lures and they are big ones. A minnow on a cork about one foot down should get you bit. They are catching fish off my dock and this water is about three foot deep. I still have a few April dates open if you are interested please call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the water temp is finally approaching that magic number that gets the males on the move. 56 to 57 degrees. There some females getting and early start. We had a good day today even with 25 miles and hour wind. Then the storm hit and MERCY the rain and wind. The lake may fill after this storm as we got a bunch of rain in a short period of time. The fish are on RED. Spinner baits and lipless crank baits. Work these baits slow and about three to eight feet of water. Today the fish were related to timber or stumps. If this weather will hold and the nights stay warm the full moon will be this weekend and this will start the spawn. The crappie are starting their move back down lake toward the bridges. Small minnows and jigs are the best bait. Don’t forget that the fish have to be 10 inches now, and twenty five is the limit. I still have some dates left in so if you want to book a trip call. Well, here we are almost on top of the best big bass fishing month on Lake Fork. March is one of the best big fish months on Lake Fork. This is a time you need to spend as many days as possible on the water if you are looking for that fish of a life time. The past week has shown that the big females are present. There has been many seven plus bass reported at the marinas. Another thirteen plus was caught last Friday. The jig, spinner baits, and lipless crank baits have been the most popular baits. Three to seven foot has been the magic depth. The water temp is still in the upper forties, but some of the coves have shown some fifties in the afternoons. Most of these big fish are coming around ten till two. This is staying inline with some of the articles on big fish. The midday from ten to two is a prime time to get a big bite on most lakes. Keep this in mind when that lunch time hunger hits you it maybe hitting that big sow. Key in on the points on either side of creeks and secondary points just inside small bays and coves. There maybe a few fish in the backs of small feeder creeks and coves but the water is still cold and we are still a week or so before they will get there in numbers. The weightless Wave Bamboo, Lake Fork Tackle Ring fry, flukes, and wacky worms are another good bait to work around the grass and timber along the banks. Light weight Carolina and Texas rigs are another good choice. Don’t forget the lizard is a natural enemy of the bass especially during this time of year. This would be a good bait on your Texas or Carolina rig. The crappie are still holding on the main lake points with small jigs and minnows being the bait of choice. They have been at 30 to 37 foot. I still have some spring dates open so if you are planning a trip call and lets go fishing. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, if you like wind the last two days were here for you. Thursday was unbelievable. The wind blew so hard there were white caps in the toilet. Mercy! The water temp is still 46 to 47 degrees. The fish are lethargic and the best bait has been a spinner bait and the ever popular red lipless crank bait. We did catch a nice fish on a red crank bait. But the pattern was fish points and mainly work the bait very slowly. When you get bit stay in that area and work it back and forth. We caught several fish today out of five to six feet of water by working back and forth over one point. We would fish up and down the other side of the point and when we would come back we would catch a fish or have one on. The fish are not hitting bait hard they are just loading the rod like when you get grass on your bait. Remember to set the hook as just raising the rod is not a true hook set. The Carolina rig has not been good to me yet. But I keep it ready. I have been working a jig and it has produced a few fish but soon it will really take off. I have not done any crappie fishing lately but they are still out deep and will be there for a couple more weeks. Remember to work your baits slowly as the water is still very cold. Book your spring trip now, I still have some dates open. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, here we go again with the approaching weather. Snow is forecasted for the weekend. Then in the upper fifties for Sunday. Mercy! Only in Texas. The fishing has been slow as the outside air temps and wind has kept most of the fishermen off the lake. The water temp Sunday was 47 degrees and the wind was 15 to 20 and it was cold. The recent rains have the lake on a rise and with the current run off we should come up some more. We gained six inches last week and should get that much by the weekend with the new run off. This will muddy up some of the feeder creeks but a bright colored spinner bait fished at the mouths of the creeks where the water goes from muddy to clear you may find a big old female looking for a morsel to fill her stomach. Remember that the north end of the lake will start to warm before any other area, so when you plan your trip look north. The only problem is you will find muddy water in most creeks as this where the water comes from the water shed. Don’t let muddy water scare you. Just switch to the brighter colors, chartreuse, white, and fire tiger. Colorado blades which will give off more vibration. Slow roll these baits as bait fish will not be moving very fast or will the bass with the cold water temp. The old adage is when the lake is rising the fish will beat you to the bank is a good rule. Keep this in mind. The evening fishing maybe better for the next couple of weeks till the water starts to warm. Don’t be fooled that the fish wont feed in the mornings but you may get more bites after lunch especially if the sun is out. The male bass will start stacking up on points waiting for the water temp to come up. The one bait that over rules the slow retrieve is the lipless crank. But even this bait can be slow rolled, just keep the bait moving. The lipless crank bait in red is and all-time favorite. Cover plenty of water and you may get the bite of a life time. The crappie have been good on small minnows and dark jigs in 35 to 40 foot of water. They will be out deep for several more weeks. Don’t forget this is a time to get your trip scheduled for the spring as bookings are filling up. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, Mother has started her approach on East Texas. The cold and rainy days. This is the usual weather pattern for this time of year. The rain is finally running off and this will help bring the lake back to normal if we can keep it coming. The fishing was holding good. The cold will slow it down for a couple of days but will rebound soon. The big females like to roam in this cold weather. I have had some really big fish caught on some of the nastiest days. The key baits are lipless crank baits, spinner baits, jig and pig, and weightless Wave Bamboo sticks and Lake fork Tackle Ring fries. Remember the key structure is grass. Stay on the out side of the grass and cast down the length and bring the baits back just ticking the top of the grass. Look for isolated grass as this is a key pattern. Timber and grass is another good structure to pitch the jig and pig around. The best advice I can give someone is to stay on the water as much as possible if you are looking for that fish of a life time. The jig and pig could be your bait of choice. Remember you wont get many strikes but the one you get maybe the one your looking for. The lipless crank bait will catch big fish so if cranking and winding is your thing cover plenty of water and if you get bit work this area over as it may hold more fish. The crappie are still biting well when the wind will let you get to them. 32 to 38 foot has been the best depth to work. The main lake points and humps have been the best areas. Small jigs in dark colors and minnows have been the baits of choice. Use your electronics to locate bait fish and fish and drop you marker and anchor over the area. Depth is your key so getting back to that depth is a must. Mark your line or keep track of the number of reels from the bottom. I have some February days open if you want to try for crappie or bass. Give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, here we are at the beginning of the best time on Lake Fork. February is the month we all wait for as the big females begin there migration toward the shallow. This is a time where you can make one cast and, LOOK OUT Wham the fish of a life time. The water temp is around the fifty two degree mark. The recent rain didn’t help much with the lake level. We are still around the three foot low mark. The winter has been a little milder than usual for this time of year but don’t be mislead. I feel mother nature will make her present known before long. The mild afternoons have produced some nice fish. I have heard of several over ten fish on lipless crank baits. The best areas to start your search are primary and secondary points leading into bays, pockets, and small creeks. The fish have been shallow so you don’t have to get to far from the grass to stay in touch with the fish. The Wave Bamboo and Lake Fork Tackle Ring fry fished weightless around the edge of the grass can be very rewarding this time of year. I will have one tied on from now on. On those high pressure days after a front Dead Sticking the bait is the best presentation. I know this is not everyone’s ideal of fishing but it does work. If chunkin and winding is your thing the RED lipless crankbait can cover plenty of water and catch plenty of fish. The jig and pig around the grass is another good bait. I really enjoy pitching the jig but it scares most folks. Remember now is a good time to get acquainted with the jig. Tie one on and fish it like you would a worm till you get the hop down. The bite maybe mushy or they may hit it like a hammer. Work the out side of the grass and timber on points. The crappie have been doing very good and the size has really changed lately. The fish are still holding on the main lake and are in 32 to34 foot of water. Use your electronics to locate the fish and anchor out over them and drop small minnows or jig down to the depth they are holding. After you get a bite mark your line or go to the bottom and slow reel up and remember the number of turns off the bottom. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, this week has been very cold in the mornings. Most have been below freezing with a good wind. The boat ramps have been empty till late evening when the day warmed up. The fishing has been fair for bass with some good fish coming on lipless crank baits and jigs. The best pattern is the normal for this time of year. Cover plenty of water with the lipless crank bait. Key on points with grass or wood. The fish have still been shallow. If you get bit work the area over as there maybe some more fish present. I watch many times to see someone catch a fish and never get off the trolling motor and continue on. This time of the year the here maybe several fish in a given area. The jig worked in the same areas after working the area over with the lipless crank bait can produce several more fish or one quality fish. Slow rolling spinner baits can be very productive right now out in deep water and along creek channels. The water temp has held around 52 to 54 degrees. The lake is still low so be careful when you run as some of the areas you usually run in may have stumps sticking up or very close to the surface. This is still a good time to look the banks over and see the spawning areas exposed. The lake wont be this low for ever. Should it come up before the spawn you will know where there are some good spots to work your baits. The crappie are doing good out in the 32 to 40 foot of water. Use your electronics and find the humps and main lake points and you should find bait fish and fish. Drop a marker to keep you in the area and drop a anchor. Dark colored jigs have been working but minnows on some days will out produce them two to one. The bite has been so light you have to watch your rod tip for a slight movement. This is still a good time to book a crappie trip. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, I would like to wish all a very Happy New Year and I wish all a safe a prosperous Year. The weather has been something else. The mornings you have on the heat and the evenings you have to switch on the AC. Mercy! It wont be long before Mother Nature starts up her AC for us. The Fishing has been good for bass and the crappie fishing has been great. The bass fishing during this time of year can be slow but a rule of thumb is three to five bites per day. Remember this is winter fishing. If you do better then you are having a great day. The lipless crank bait and spinner bait have been the starting and finishing baits. The Jig bite has not taken off yet. I am working the out side of grass lines with the lipless crank bait. The timber on the mouth of small bays and creeks are holding fish so work this area good. The spinner bait fished slowly in the same areas has produced some bites. There are some nice fish coming in. The fish I have seen have been fat as a butter ball and healthy. The deep fish have been finicky. You may find them but not be able to catch them. The water temp is 52 just about all over the lake. The water is still low and now is a good time to get up here and you can see where some of the old road beds and fence rows crossed the lake. Mark these spots and when the water gets back to normal then you can fish these areas. The crappie are biting very good. Small jigs and minnows are the ticket. I have been using jigs and can’t tell the difference which catches more. Thirty six to thirty eight foot has been the best depth. The wind has been light and allowed the main lake points to be fished. Use your electronics to find fish and bait fish and mark the spot or drop your anchor. Now is a good time to book a crappie trip. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the weather can’t make up its mind what to do. You will have a fire in the fire place one night and the next you got the AC on. The water temp has drop to 53 degrees and the key is slow. This is the time of year you will need to slow down on all of your presentations. Even the ever popular lipless crank bait needs to be retrieved slowly. If chunk’in is your thing now is the time to tie on a lipless crank bait and run the edges of the grass. Some days the quarter ounce will get you more bites. The spinner bait is another bait that will cover a lot of water. The three quarter ounce slow polled along the bottom in 20 to 25 foot of water around creeks and drop offs on main lake points can be very productive. The Jigging spoons and tail spinners are the most popular for winter time bass. Look for fish and bait fish with your electronics then back off and cast out to them or vertical jig these fish The jig will be a good bait to pitch or flip around creek bends and timbered points. Black and blue with a big trailer on the end will make the bait fall slowly. The crappie are stacking up on Little Caney point along with the bar fish. This time of year you will never know what you may catch when spooning. Big cats, bar fish bass , and crappie all like the little silver spoon. Remember to slow down your retrieves. This weekend looks great to get on the lake if you can make it. Don’t forget a fishing trip is a great Christmas Gift. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the weather has been getting colder. Finally! I put up my wood rack two days ago with a short sleeve on. The cold is what we needed along plenty of rain. Our lake is down about three feet and we need it back up to pool level before the spawn. The grass is still plentiful. The fish are making their way to the deep humps and are finally starting to stack up some. Tail spinners, jigging spoons, storm wild eyes, Carolina, and Texas rigs are good choices in the deep water. Don’t forget the drop shot out on these deep areas when all else fails. The spinner bait and lipless crank bait around the grass and timber can be productive. Retrieves will be the key to catching these fish. Some days they want a fast and some they want a slow retrieve. Size of bait will sometimes play a part in the catching. I would use my graph out in the deep water to locate the fish and work points with deep water close by. The fishing has been tough because of the wind. The deep fish have been safe as you couldn’t get out to them. This is also true about the crappie fishing. The crappie are moving toward the main lake to winter. Small jigs and minnows are the best bait. Again use your electronics to find the fish. Get over them and vertical jig. The water is about 57 degrees. Be sure and bundle up before getting on the lake as the water will make the air temp colder. If you are looking for a present for that special someone a guide trip can be a great present. Well, Saint Nic will soon be down from the North. With the wind blowing he want have a problem. The wind has been a big problem for the last two weeks. The deep humps where the fish are starting to stack up are hard to get to. There are a some fish to be caught along the banks on lipless crank baits. The water temp has dropped to the low sixties to upper fifties. The jigging spoon, tail spinner, Carolina rig, and Texas rig fished on the deep humps are the best pattern. This is when you can get out there. Don’t forget there are many boat ramps around Lake Fork so you can trailer to different areas to fish rather than run the rough water. The water temp is getting to the dangerous side. If you fall in or get wet enough there is a chance to have hypothermia set in. Don’t take the chance when the lake is rough. When you are jigging the humps and start catching the bar fish remember the bass are close by. They like to eat the bar fish. If you don’t want to catch these fish then switch to a Carolina, or Texas rig, or jig and pig. The bar fish will hit theses baits but you want catch many on them. Don’t forget the bar fish are very good eating. We are catching some white bass mixed in with the bar fish. This is a good time to start dropping a jig and pig around timber along creeks and banks. Big spinner baits are another good pattern slow rolled along the bottom in 25 to 30 foot of water. The crappie are hard to get to with the wind but they are making their move toward the dam. Don’t forget the length limit has change as of December 1st. From now to the end of February the first twenty five fish you catch you have to keep. This is because the fish are so deep they will die when they come up from that depth. Small minnows and jigs are the best baits. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the turkey is the biggon of the day. If your dinner was anything like mine it will be two days before I can put anything near my mouth except a good piece of sweet potatoe pie. My boat will be listing tomorrow for sure. I hope this wind that came in this evening will lay before we get in the boat tomorrow. The fishing has been good with several ten plus fishing showing up at the marinas. The morning bite has been slow for me. The afternoon bite has been better. I have been working deep humps with Carolina rigs, jigging spoons, and tail spinners. Your graph is the key to locating fish right now. You know by now if you keep up with my report I am very partial to deep water. I probable spend more time out deep than most guides. Look for main lake points with deep water and humps. Watch your graph and when you mark fish drop a marker off to the side of the fish and try several different baits. The water temp is around 63 to 65 but the surface temp will change some from all the heavy wind. The crappie are up and down. The wind this week has kept many fisherman off the lake. Look around the bridges and timber out in 18 to 25 foot of water. Small jigs and minnows will work. I have Sunday open if anyone is interested before they go back to work. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088

Well, the fishing is still holding good. There has been several nine to ten pound bass showing up at the marinas. The shallow fish are still holding up with the warm temps. Mercy when we get the cold weather it will be a bugger. I wish it would get a little colder instead of cold one day and then hot the next day. The fish are hitting spinner baits and weightless Wave worms , Lake Fork Tackle Ring fries, and lipless crank baits. This is the early bite. The afternoon bite is jigging spoons, tail spinners, Carolina, and Texas rigs. The drop shot is another good deep water approach. The lake is still down about two foot and there are plenty of stumps sticking out. This is a good time to look areas over you are fishing. Check out the structure so when the water comes back up you will be able to fish the same way. The crappie are starting to bite and if you want to book a winter trip now in the time. When the cold comes the crappie will stack up on the main lake points and this is a good time to fill your freezer. Call and we can schedule your trip. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088
