hi keyur , It was nice meeting you , this weekend friday early morning 5 we have hired a boat for deep sea fishing . Hopefully the trip will be 3 hours in deep sea . Its my first deep sea trip . So quite excited about it . Hope fully we will hear a lot of whipping sound of 6 rods and i am just wishing all my predictions are wrong tht firday is not a good day . Because all of us want the gust of the salty iranian water and want loads of fish . Would be making some new rigs for deep sea fishing , bought bigger size hooks and heavy duty lines . Saturday i want to join you . Let me know if we can go that crazy sharjah spot . I would try for king fish there . Got a few tips from a omani fisher man . Would try to apply that . Today i saw the sea water is very clear . So i am already smelling fish . Would keep you posted about the deep sea fishing trip frm the forum . I am taking my camera to catch all the action on the tripod . No more today bye guys . regards |

Hi Cornel, I did fish there a couple of times last year. There is a light house. On your left (when facing the sea) is a port and the water outlet is on your right as well as a rocky jetty. There are guys who cast from the structure above the water outlet. I did get some small fish and the place was infested with rays which put me off. Yes, lots of turtles there. Thanks for the offer this Thursday, but I will be at work. Will join you some time when possible. Thanks again. Heber www.fishing.invisionplus.net |

Hi heber, you have to take the left at the RAK Hilton, then follw the road signs to the beach club, till you reach some villas take a right into the lanes at these villas and find your way to the jetty. the attraction for the fish is that there is alot of hot water being pumped out there as a result of the power plant so therefore alot of small bait fish & thats the reason you get huge amount of barracuda, trevally, mullets, rays plus the occasional turtles which r a sight for sore eyes really cute so you got to be careful at times when casting so that you do not snag them at any time. will be going there hopefully on thursday. best timings to fish is around 6am to 9am anyway by that time u get really tired with all the action and the heat. the tide was high and coming in at that time. The GT s i caught were about 3-4kgs same with the spotted trevally the cat fish about 3 kgs. it seems that i can't load the pics don't know why will try though. cheers Cornel 0505193967 let me know if u want to join me on thursday. |

Hi Cornel, I have fished in RAK near Hilton last year and fishing wasn't that good. Maybe it is pretty good this year. Any pictures of your catch you can mail across?? Also will be good if you can post instructions to reach the spot. What time did you fish and how was the tide?? Was it from a jetty ?? GTs are quite exciting to catch and they can be very large in size. Cheers Heber www.fishing.invisionplus.net |

Hi Guys, Good to see so many people on this forum, been busy last couple of weeks but last friday i did get a chance to go fiahing in RAK it is a pla ce near the hilton beach club. Fishing was really amazing caught a huge 6-7kg Ray, plus 1 spotted trevally and two giant trevally, plus one cat fish. This was really good after all those depressing catches of small shery/snappers etc. would advise alot of you guys to go there the trevally come in huge shoals and the best lure/tackle to be used is sabiki hooks nos, 10/12.alot of sightings of barracuda and decent size of mullets. Cheers regards Cornel |

hi Hany , Nice to hear from you . Could you pls leave ur cell no so that i can be in touch with you . I am working on a small research about catch in uae . Please refer to my earlier post .I waited whole thrusday night to end up with one small sheri . After that i decide to do this project . Would u please call me on my cell 0506789546 . I am working on a dubai fishing calender . Call me so that i can explain which days you should go fishing and expect better catch and the timing of the fishing hours . I am also charting a costal depth chart of the whole of uae . Some the forum friends here are pitching in to share the cost of this map . It would cost per head 50 to 40 dirhams . In case you are intersted do get in touch with me . Also report your catch during the present week as per my earlier posted format to help us to build a dubai fishing calender . We do have a fishing calender now but thts a japanes version and its based on PST (pacific standard time) I am trying to convert it to dubai time and see the effect . Would lv to meet you and go for joint fishing trips . We would be organising a deep sea fishing trip shortly. regards pranab |

Hi , Just wanted to share a philipino guy taught me this the phases of moon and their effect on fish feeding activity . After than i had been doing a lot of reading on this topic . I hope you all will love this article which i pickd up frm net while i was surfing . Tidal action is evidence of the moon's influence upon the waters of Earth. The "Best Days" to go fishing on the moon phase calendars show the days on which fish will tend to feed more aggressively. Using moon phases to plan fishing trips is only one factor in planning a fishing strategy. You must also know the habits of the species! Trout and albacore fishing is usually slower around the full moon because the fish feed at night. Tides are strongest on the full moon which usually makes for the best sturgeon and striper fishing. Migratory fish often come into a river system in greater than average numbers on a higher tide, when weather conditions are favorable. 2009 January 2009 February 2009 March 2009 April 2009 May 2009 June 2009 July 2009 August 2009 September 2009 October 2009 November 2009 December 2009 2008 January 2008 February 2008 March 2008 April 2008 May 2008 June 2008 July 2008 August 2008 September 2008 October 2008 November 2008 December 2008 2007 January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 April 2007 May 2007 June 2007 July 2007 August 2007 September 2007 October 2007 November 2007 December 2007 If you visit this site it will give u detail of each month moon phases . Hi Guys ! We had run the first session of the rod building clinic today. It has been informative with dialogues of local fishing activities, including sharing information about rod building, and discussion on various types of rod and identifying differences between a custom made rod and factory rods. I like to thanks Heber and the others for their time. And I hope we could gather a local rod building community here in Dubai and from other Emirates. For those interested can email rbdxb@yahoo.com.au for coming workshops. Meantime, I wish all of you well in your fishing quests. Dull day me and 7 chines and one lebanese anglers all got frustrated until i met firaz and salman from the forum . Hey preba we are all pitching in money to buy the coastal chart of uae for fishing spots. Would u like to join us . may be per head 50 dirhams . We from the forum are also toying with an idea of a joint boat trip in mussadam area for fishing exclusively. Let me see the response then may be end of this month we do that depending on the response . Today will go for brief fishing during lunch with heber at the creek . regards |

Hi Pranab Sounds like you had a great time in Sharjah. Went to Dubai Marina Friday morning. Tide was low. A lot of small fish close to the rocks, but lost too many traces. Also got some good bites with longer throws and managed to get 2 good sized fish. Was good fun and also great to try out the equipment you helped my purchase. Regards |

hi guys , Good to see so many people writing . I was already starting to have a feeling i am the only one who writes . Any way had two bad days in fishing . No fish bites at all at alsheef during continious two evenings . I asked a philipino guy who is fishing in dubai for the last 10 yrs told me i must learn to watch the lunar calander . He did teach me somthing about the waves and days of the month when most fish activity can be expected . Will be fishing with him on firday . He told me he will show me king fish spot and where i can grab average size hamoor on the jumeriah beach . Would keep you all posted about the trip . Also looking forward for the custom rod building session with fish pals. Well i went with Pranab to buy my fishing gear on Sunday. Then was shown the fishing spots in Al Seef and Jumierah. Did not expect to fish on the same day, but we ended up catching on our first throw at Al Seef. What luck!!! As soon as time allows will be going again. |

Hi Guy ! Have you heard of Custom Rod Building? I will be building 3 nos of 5.5ft JM Jigging Rods commencing sometime next week. For those who are interested in building your own fishing rod and understanding about rod building. I am delighted to share this knowledge and bring to you another dimension of the fishing quest. Email rbdxb@yahoo.com.au to place a reservation, limited space available. The ideal day would be Friday. I will advise on the date and time after I receive your email. This is a free demostration where we extent and share knowledge about Rod Building. Good luck and tight lines! Cheers fishpals |

hi guys , for the first time i went to makthoum bridge to see the spot . In 45 mins picked up a total of 18 fishes . Most of them were sheris . 2 queen fish . lost 2 huge cat fish . The only thing i liked about the spot is no one will loose hooks here and there is a nice shady area so u can fish while the sun is strong . Other thing is there is no boat disturbance . But then i think al sheelf fish sizes are much better than this part . Fishing here gives u the idea of river fishing as there is strong current under the bridge . But i feel the depth of area is less which might be the cause of smaller fish found here . But i spoke to few anglers present there ,who told me early morning hours you can get baracuda here along with the current provided you use rapala and the leader is steel wire . This area is famous for cat fish . Average size found here are said to be 4-8 kgs . Although in 45 mins fishing i could not pick up any one of those as i lost 2 . By the way a guy fishing over there told me he gets hamur regularly around 1 to 2 kgs at the begening of the creek near gold souk end at the opening of the creek . Best time is early morning and evening for hamour . |

HI GUYS , ALTHOUGH IT WAS WINDY IN THE MORNING BUT WHEN I SAW AT EVE THE WEATHER CALMED DOWN I WENT TO CREEK WITH MY OFFICE COLLEUES FRM SHARJAH . THEY SAID THERE ARE NO FISH IN CREEK . AND TO GIVE U THE RECORD WE HOOKED 17 SHERIS WT BETWEEN 700 GMS- 400 GMS ALL OF WHICH I RELEASED BECAUSE WHT TO DO WITH SO MUCH OF FISH . AND THE ULTIMATE WAS THE LAST HOOKING . WHEN I TOLD MY FRIENDS THT I WOULD GO HOME IF I GET A BIGGIE . I HOOKED THIS MONSTER . AROUND 5/6 KGS . IT RAN LIKE HELL AFTER I HOOKED IT . DAY BEFORE ONE OF THESE MONSTERS TOOK AWAY MY ENTIRE LINE AND ALSO BROKE MY FAVOURITE GREHOUND ROD BY RUNNING UNDER A STRUCTURE . IT DID THE SAMETODAY . BUT I LEARNED FORM EXPERINCE . I LOOSEN THE DRAG TO MAKE IT FEEL IT HAS UNHOOKED ITSELF . AND IT WORKED . IT STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE PILLAR . AND ONCE IT WAS OUT OF THE PILLAR I WENT TO THE EDGE OF WATER SO I CAN USE THE LENGTH OF THE ROD . I KNEW I HAD SECONDS TO REEL IT IN ON TOP . AND THANKS TO MY BENAX IT DID WHT I WANTED . OUT CAME THE MOSTER TWISTING AND TURNING . OHH BOY I THINK I LOVED THE SEA WIND MOST TODAY AS I SAW THE SILVER MOSTER OUT . I AM NOT SURE WHT FISH IT IS . BECAUSE I AM STILL NEW ONLY ONE AND A HALF MONTH INTO FISHING . I WISH THIS WEB SITE ALLOWED ME TO UPLOAD THE PIC . BUT ANY WAY IT WAS GREAT YESTERDAY NIGHT . THIS FRIDAY I WOULD ONLY FISH AT MORNING . AFTERNOON AND EVEN MY FRIENDS ARE HAVING A PARTY WITH THE CATCH . SO ANY ONE WANT TO JOIN ME FISHING BE IN TOUCH 0506789546 REGARDS |

HI GUYS , EFFECT OF LURE COLOURS ON FISH . DID A LITTLE BIT OF READING ON LURE COLOURS . BUT I AM NOT SURE IF IT WORKS HAVE TO TRY IT OUT . YELLOW/GREEN - FOR SUNNY DAY RED /ORANGE - FOR OVERCAST DAY BLACK - SHALLOW WATER BRIGHT FLUROCENT COLOURS - TO CREATE SUPER NATURAL EFFECT IN DARKY MURKY WATER BLUE/VIOLET/WHITE/SILVER - FOR COLD WATER RED/ORANGE/YELLOW - TOP LEVEL GREEN - MID LEVEL BLUE - BOTTOM LEVEL IF ANY ONE HAVE ANY MORE EXPERIENCE ABOUT LURE COLOURS PLEASE SHARE IT WITH THE OTHER FORUM MEMBERS WHO ARE NEW TO THE SPORT LIKE ME . WE ARE ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ALREADY EXPERIENCED ANGLERS STAYING IN THIS REGION . I ALWAYS BELIVE ANY SPORT IS A LEARNING PROCESS . WE CAN POOL IN OUR KNOWLEDGE TO ENRICH EACH OF US. BY THE WAY I AM EXPERIMENTING WITH A SELF MADE LURE WHICH IS VERY CHEAP TO MAKE . WILL USE IT AND LET U KNW THE OUT COME . ITS MADE OF BROKEN CD CUT INTO SHAPE LIKE SPOONS AVAILABLE IN THE TACKLE SHOP . I THINK THE STRONG REFLECTIVE SURFACE OF THE ONE SIDE OF THE BROKEN CD CAN WORK WELL ON A SHINY DAY WITH THE FLIP SIDE COATED DARKER . WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL I GET THE RESULTS. hi guys , I have been going to the creek regularly . What i caught on a regular basis is sheri , snapper , catfish, rock fish . Is there any other variety out there . If the old timers who fish around this area enlighted me would be grateful . Because i am trying for king and baracuda . Is it because of construtions none of these variety are avoiding this area . Even yesterday i got around 8 sheri and snapper . But no sighting of king or barracuda . regards |

hi pals, PRECAUTIONS FOR FISHING FROM THE ROCKS IN JUMERIAH Know the fishing spot - Fish only in places that you know are safe. Spend at least half an hour watching the wind and wave action. Best of all, fish only where experienced anglers go. Know the tide and weather - The spot may be OK now, but what will it be like in a few hours time? Never fish alone - If you do go on your own, make sure you tell someone. Wear shoes with non-slip soles or cleats - Rock plates or cleats are essential on wet, reedy rocks. Wear light clothing - If you are swept off the rocks, light clothing won't drag you down. Wear head protection - Evidence suggests that many people who have drowned, received some sort of head injury. Swim away - If you are swept in, swim away from the rocks. Be prepared - Before you start fishing, work out the best route out of the water if you get swept in. REGARDS |

hi friends , Today catch at alsheef was great . I picked up 2 snappers , and 6 sheris . Sheris were decent size wt varying between 500 gms to 300 gms . I noticed bobber is not required at alsheef at high tide . And best hook size can vary between 8-3 . Depends which fish you are going for .Biggger fish i think hook 3 is prefect . smaller ones size 8 or 7 |

Hi Pranab, Will meet at Al Seef Jetty about 11am on Friday. High tide is about 3pm full. Will be fishing for Safi as usual, hope those guys are still there. Bring along a small rod if you have one and go on light line ie. 4lbs or 8lbs for good actions along the sides. BTW my name is Chua. regards fishpals |

Anyway, nice meeting you at the boat ramp. Perhaps we should arrange a day for fishing near Al Seef Jetty. Friday or Saturday morning is good. Just drop a mail. Cheers fishpals |

Hi Pranad, You are probably getting a sea bream with yellow and black strips near to the head. Good fighting fish that always around the rocks. Loss a good number of them to the rocks while fishing them during the early winter months. You can park your vehicle next to the ramp thru the service road to Hertiage Village. I went there earlier and saw the sand storm was blowing badly and left, I saw gentleman with a white rod, could that be you? The Halfbeaks are not there as well due to bad weather, else you can get a good number of them if the sun is right, coupled with the tide coming to a low by late afternoon. I left the place for the new jetty in the creek. Caught more than a dozen and all was set free with nothing exceeding 400g....with alot of nibble and running around. Cheers fishpals |

hi guys , Todays weekend in uae has got a perfect day to spoil fishermens dream . It was too windy even then i set out for the entrance of the dubai creek . I saw a few chinese guys trying to fish in the horrible weather . I was there for 4 hours . I caught a macarel , and a quite big black and yellow striped fish looks like a angel fish . I dont knw the name but it weighs around 1 kg . I missed a huge greish colour sting ray . It made me terribly sad . But at least i learn one thing today . Inlet fishing is at least better on a windy day than a shore line fishing . And its better to use heavier weights when u are experiencing waves due to wind . Last but not the least the best spot to locate a fish is at the entrance of the creek because due to waves in the sea they try to take shelter into the inlet of the dubai creek . By the way a fiend of mine who accompanied me to the creek and fishes there regularly told me the entrance of the creek has got a sliding ramp near sindhaga tunnel after the heritage village and he gets regularly sheri and bhangra fishes not less than 1 kg . In fact the black and yellow striped fish i got is also from this are and around 1 kg . So guys who are sheri fans pls try out this area . The other area in the creek popular for big size grouper is the extreme end of the alsheef jetty . Please note the end of the kings sisters house just after the small net covered area . The land mark to look at is a sign written DANGER KEEP AWAY . It must be a swerage pump . Advisable not to fish when the pump is on and pumping water in the creek . regards best regards |

HI GUYS , LAST COUPLE OF DAYS IT HAS BEEN GREAT . EVERY DAY I HAD AROUND 8 TO 10 FISHES ALONG THE NEW SPOT THAT I DISCOVERED ALONG JUMERIAH BEACH . THE BEST PART IS DIFF KIND OF FISHES . IN BETWEEN I TRIED ALSEEF BUT ALL I ALWAYS GOT IS CAT FISH WHICH I DONT LIKE AT ALL . SO I RETURNED AGAIN TO JUMERIAH . I MUST SAY A NEW LINE THAT I BOUGHT OFFLATE HAS IMPROVED MY CATCH . YUZURI FLURO CARBON 0.50 LINE IS REALLY MAKING A DIFFERENCE . I WAS ACTUALLY SEARCHING VANISH FRM BERKERLY AND ENDED UP DISCOVERING THIS LINE WICH IS SUPRISINGLY MUCH CHEAPER AND IS FANTASTIC . I THINK FRM NOW ON I WONT EVER CHANGE MUSTURD HOOKS AND YUZURI HYTECH LINES , BANAX REELS AND GREY HOUND CORK RODS . THESE THREE MAKE A PERFECT COMBINATION FOR SHORE FISHING . THE BEST PART IS ON THE ROCKS YOU CAN USE THE BANAX REELS VERY ROUGHLY . AND AS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE YOU WOULD NOT MIND .ISO 5000 MODEL IS A GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY REGARDS |

HI , THRUSDAY WAS A DULL DAY . DUE TO HIGH WIND THROUGH THE COSTAL REGION OF DUBAI HIGH WAVES MADE FISHING IMPOSSIBLE . BUT GLAD TO REPORT FRIDAY I HAD A VERY SUCESSFUL DAY . I FOUND OUT A NEW FISHING SPOT IN JUMERIAH . ITS JUST AFTER THE JUMERIAH BEACH PARK BIG SIGNAL RIGHT HAND SIDE WHILE U DRIVE FROM PORT RASHID TOWARDS BURJ AL ARAB . THE LAND MARK OF THE PLACE IS IS LIGHT BROWN COLOUR WATCH TOWER . IT HAS GOT A LONG STONE PIER WITH BOTH SIDES EASILY ACCESIABLE . I HAD CAUGHT TODAY IT SELF 12 FISHES IN ALL . MOST ARE STRIPED SEA BASS AND ONE SHERI ( SNAPPER ) . I HV TAKEN PICS OF THE CATCH BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DONT KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD IT IN THIS FORUM . I HV SEEN MEMBERS POST PICS HERE . WOULD ANY ONE COME FORWARD AND TEACH ME THE PROCESS . BY THE WAY I USED SMALL SHRIMP AND BABY SQUIDS FOR TODAY . I MUST SAY BOTH WERE SUCESSFUL BUT MORE SUCESSS FUL WAS BABY SQUID . REGARDS |

HI RAMI , I AM JUST NEW TO SPORT SO MAY BE I CANT PUT UP MY QUESTIONS PROPERLY . I DO HAVE BOTH SPINNING AND CASTING WHEELS . BUT I PREFER SPINNING ONE BECAUSE EVERY TIME I GET BETTER DISTANCE WITH IT . NORMALLY I USE SQUID/ PRAWN AS BAIT . I ALWAYS TIE THE WEIGHT FIRST AFTER A SREWEL THEN A LITTLE LINE AND USE ONLY ONE HOOK . WELL MY SUCCESS IS LIMITED ONLY TO SNAPPERS . AS FM MY LAST QUESTION YOU MIGHT HAVE SEEN I WAS ASKING ARE SNAPPERS BOTTOM FEEDERS OR SURFACE PEDATORS . I AM NOT SURE . I AM NOT USING ANY FLOAT SO I GUESS MY BAIT GOES TO THE BOTTOM ALONG WITH THE WAIT . I AM MOSTLY FISHING FROM THE STONES BARRIERS ALONG THE DUBAI COAST . THE PLACE WHERE I CAST MY LINE IS NOT THAT DEEP . PLS CORRECT ME IF MY TECHNIQUE IS WRONG . MY CELL IS 0506789546 . GIVE ME A BUZZ IF U DONT MIND . WOULD LOVE TO CHAT WITH U IN DETAIL. BY THE WAY SALMAN I AM GLAD THT U SHARED THE FISHING SPOTS . REGARDS |
