Also Mr. Farney, Taliaferro and Chickadance went deep sea fishing on the Juan Ernesto boat and caght a Mako Shark around 45 lbs. just a few pounds bigger than the one the Hortencia boat caught yesterday.

Hi everyone. To those it may concern.
Yesterday Captain Rigo of the Valeria boat went bottom fishing with Erik Curtis and his two sons Colton and Garret, from Coeurd'Alene Idaho, Went as far as to Marmol area and caught around 20 rock fish with shrimp. Grouper mostly, 5 lbs average size.
Trolling diving lures on their way back caught 3 good size Jack Crevalle, 10 lbs average size, that they let go free. Jack are very good fish to catch but not too good to eat, We call them "Toro" (Bull) because they are very strong and agressive. Any way... They had a great time.

Captain Gabriel of the Hortencia boat went deep sea fishing with Jhon Gregule and Lou Vogl from Michigan. and got some Bonita and caught a 40 lbs Mako Shark, with bait (mullet). Not the very best day but it is a good start for 2008 since January was one of the worst months ever due the terrible weather.

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico

Hello fishermen!!!! Good News from Mazatlan...

BILLFISH.

It was good in this period. Tourism is on its way up and everybody is having more business now. Weather has been good and the harbour has been open everyday. Those who have gone deep sea fishing have had a great time!! Boats averaged .94 Sailfish per trip (heaviest being 68 lb). Special mention to Dennis Sims from Alaska who went fishing three days and had a catch (including released) of 5 Sailfish and a 20 lb Dorado!! Great time!!
Rate of success for billfish was 61% and for all species (Dorado, Crevalle Jack, Bonita and Skipjack Tuna) combined was 100%!!!
No Marlin was landed in this period, we had Striped Marlin action, but a couple of them broke the lines when being fought. These are the first Striped Marlin of the new season.

OTHER FISH.

Skipjack Tuna and Bonita keep hot. Dorado action got much better, not big ones, but at least more abundant. We caught Crevalle Jack too. The light rod keeps busy!!

WEATHER. All days were hot and sunny. A couple of days were very very windy and with high tides, but most of the period was very calm and nice for being on the ocean.

Currently: 77 F and 69% Humidity. High tide. Unlimited Visibility.

FISHING ZONE: Anywhere from 18 to 28 miles from the Lighthouse.
LURES: Fresh Mullet, False Squid, Purple Pink,
Green (silk strip or single hook).

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico

Hello fishermen!!!! GOOD News from Mazatlan!! I couldn't post a message last week, but here I am again..

BILLFISH.
It is still great. Not many anglers in town, but getting better
everyday (thank God September is over). Those few who have gone
offshore fishing have had a great time!! Boats averaged .78
Sailfish per trip. Special mention to Neil Hopkins and company (wife
Ruby and The Cheesman's) who caught the heaviest Sailfish of the
period, a beautiful 79 lb and 8' 03'' on October 4th. They caught five Bonita too... Great day!
Rate of success for billfish was 67% and for
all species combined was 89%!!! No Marlin was landed in this period, but some of them have been seen, so we can say we expect good amounts of Blue Marlin in the following days.

OTHER FISH.
Skipjack Tuna and Bonita keep hot. The light rod keeps busy!! Some Jack Crevalle and Mahi-Mahi action too.

WEATHER. All days were either hot and sunny or cloudy-rainy. We had Tropical Depression Nora very close from us, as well as The harbour was closed 3 days during this period. Bibi Fleet stayed safe, but some of my neighbor's weren't that lucky. At least two sportfishing cruisers and one catamaran sank in the Lighthouse Marina during the storms, no victims were reported. This year, harbour has been closed for Hurricane Ignacio and Marty too.

Currently: 81 F and 79% Humidity. High tide. Unlimited Visibility.

FISHING ZONE: Anywhere from 18 to 28 miles from the Lighthouse.
LURES: Fresh Mullet, False Squid, Purple Pink,
Green (silk strip or single hook).

BILLFISH.
It is still great. Right now tourism has reached its lowest of 2003, but those who have gone offshore fishing have had a great time!! Boats averaged 2.22 Sailfish per trip. Special mention to Thad Lyman and friends who had a sensational catch (including released) of 7 Sailfish and 1 Bonita on September 7th. That was the largest catch of this year, so far, at Bibi Fleet. Rate of success for billfish was 67 % and for all species combined was 89%!!!

OTHER FISH.
Skipjack Tuna and Bonita keep hot. Dorado was also caught, but not as large as the previous period.

LIGHT TACKLE PANGA FISHING.
Bonita was the hot one this period.

WEATHER. Mostly Cloudy. Several days with lightning and rains at night. We even had a wind storm (locally called "torito-little bull") but harbour has been open daily except for September 4-6. Currently: 82 F and 70% Humidity. High tide. Unlimited Visibility.

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico
Hello fishermen!!!! GREAT News from Mazatlan!!
BILLFISH.
It is great. Although the flow of tourists has decreased lots in Mazatlan and the harbour was closed for a couple of days due to hurricane "Ignacio", fishing keeps great and the few anglers who went deep sea fishing had a great time. Special mention for Mr. Jeff O'Connor and wife Shannon who caught 4 nice Sails on August 22nd. The sails have been biting either the fresh bait or the "mechuda" (silk strip lure). The rate of success in Billfish was 86% and the rate of success for all species combined was 89%!!!!!

OTHER FISH.
Not a lot of Skipjack Tuna and Bonita this time, the main attraction was a 42 lb, 5' 0'' Bull Dorado on August 22nd.

BOTTOM FISHING.
It's hot right now. Red and Striped Snapper (Pargo rojo y pargo rayado), Cochito (Trigger Fish), and another small fish locally called "little donkey" (burrito) have been caught in good amounts. Excellent table qualities and lots of fun for everyone!! We've had many young anglers having a blast with Mazatlan fishing.
Squid is used as bait, although it keeps scarce right now. We use shrimp too, which is also very efficient, except for the Trigger Fish.

WEATHER. Mostly Cloudy. Several days with lightning and rains at night. Currently: 84 F and 66% Humidity. Today September 4th, harbour is closed and we expect weather to be better tomorrow or saturday. High tide. Unlimited Visibility.

LURES: Dead Mullet, False Squid, Pink, Green (silk strip or single hook).

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico

Hello fishermen!!!! GREAT News from Mazatlan!!

BILLFISH.
Simply HOT. Sailfish are here, and we are having a blast in Mazatlan, fishermen just can't get enough of them. 20 chartered boats in this period caught 56 sailfish (including caught and released)...really good for early July!! Special mention to Mr. Tom Rich and family who besides his 3 sails, he managed to land a 30 lb Dorado and 4 Skipjack Tuna on July 10th. The following day, it was Mr. Morcos who had a succesful day with 3 Sails and a 207 lb - 10' 03'' Blue Marlin, which was hooked at 730am (that gives you an idea of how close to the shore the fish are in MZT right now). Way to go!!!!! The rate of success in Sailfish was 90% and the rate of success for all species was 100% !!!!! (20 chartered boats).
The largest catch of the period was 6 Sails on July 4th. Boats averaged 6 bites per trip. They keep biting fresh dead bait as well as the mechuda with silk stripe (nearly 50% of bites on each).
Besides the Blue Marlin I mentioned, others have been seen in the last days and we expect them in larger amounts and weights in a few days more.

OTHER FISH
LOTS of Bullet Mackerel-Bonitas and Skpjack Tuna, specially in the first week of July, excellent for the light rod. They get very common in the summertime so this is their time.
A few Mahi-Mahi, they will come out when the rains increase, although we managed to land a 30 lb.

BOTTOM FISHING.
It's hot. Red and Striped Snapper, Cabrilla (Spotted Grouper), Garlopa, and Skipjack Tuna are the hot ones of this period. Excellent table qualities and lots of fun for everyone!!
Squid is used as bait.

WEATHER. Mostly. Currently: 84 F and 70% Humidity. Flat waters. Calm to mid winds. Unlimited Visibility.

LURES: Dead Mullet, False Squid, green/yellow (silk stripe or single hook), pink/yellow/orange (silk stripe or single hook). We might be quiting with the silk stripe as the Blue Marlin show up, it's better to have them hooked toincrease chances of catching it.

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico

Hello fishermen of the west coast and everywhere else...here's how we are doing.

BILLFISH.
Lots of action. The sailfish ar here, the waters are much warmer and they have seen in schools everyday. Some charters caught 2 or 3 per trip, NOT BAD for early June. Let's remember Sailfish and Mahi-Mahi are found in Mazatlan year round, but their best time is during the summer, we expect to get better. Marlin was very slow during the first two weeks of June, we expect more Blue and Black Marlin soon. The sailfish had an average of 65+ lb and none of them was shorter than 8' 2''. Special mention to Mrs. Suzie Veaters and her 8' 9'' sailfish on June 10th, she has been fishing with Bibi Fleet for the last 30 years.

OTHER FISH
LOTS of Frigate Mackerel (Bonita), excellent for the light rod. Their best time is still to come and we expect them in larger amounts in a few weeks more. Some small Jack Crevalle, Mahi-Mahi and Yellow Fin Tuna have been caught too.

BOTTOM FISHING.
It is so good right now, Trigger fish, Red and Striped Snapper, as well as Cabrilla (Spotted Grouper) are the hot ones of this period. Excellent table qualities and lots of fun for everyone!!
Squid and shrimp are used as bait.

WEATHER. Mostly Sunny. Currently: 90 F and 40% Humidity. Flat waters. Calm winds. Unlimited Visibility.

LURES: Dead Mullet, Palitos ("little sticks") False Squid, green/yellow, pink/yellow/orange.

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico
Hello everyone!! Here's how things are around here.

BILLFISH.
A lot of action!! Sailfish are here to stay..lots of them (even 30-40 a day) have been seen in almost every trip. Good size and weight with an average of 60+ lb. Special mention to Mr. Chris Bennet from Anthem, Arizona (15 years old) and his first Sailfish (61 lb, 8'4'') on May 29th. Striped Marlin is slowing down a bit, which is normal, but Blue Marlin should increase in numbers in the following days.
A lot of sailfish, Blue and Black Marlin are expected for this summer!!

OTHER FISH.
LOTS of Skipjack Tuna (Barrilete) and Frigate Mackerel (Bonita). Their best time are still to come and we expect them in the summertime in larger amounts. The Dorados are around too. Small ones have been caught these days, but we know the big ones are here in Mazatlan. We saw them, but they were not hungry. The special mention goes to Mr. Harry Lear and wife with an OUTSTANDING and really big Crevalle Jack (Toro) of 15.62 lb and 2' 10''. Largest of the year so far. The Lear's came from Idaho and had a blast fishing in Mazatlan. Pictures of this and other fish will be posted soon in our website.

BOTTOM FISHING.
Trigger fish, Red and Striped Snapper are the hot ones of this period. Squid and shrimp are used as bait.

WEATHER. Mostly Sunny, except for some part cloudy days (81F). 61% Humidity. Flat waters. Calm winds. Unlimited Visibility.

LURES: Dead Mullet, Palitos ("little sticks") False Squid, green/yellow, pink/yellow/orange.

Hello everybody! Tourism is slowing down a bit (normal in May) but fishing is improving lots!!

BILLFISH.
A lot of action in this period. Looks like the sailfish have finally arrived, and they are here to stay!!! A lot of Sailfish, Striped and Blue Marlin have been sighted in much larger numbers than last month, and some charters have caught 4 or 5 Sails per trip. Special mention to Johnny Childress from Arkansas (10 years old) and his beautiful 57 lb Sailfish. Billfish have been seen as far as 25 miles and as close as 1 and a half mile from the shore (excellent for Mazatlan).

OTHER FISH.
Lots of Bonitas and Black Skipjacks have been caught and some average Dorados too. Light tackle has been very useful this month, keeping the lines tight while the boats are on their way to the 20-25 mile distance. Some Yellow Fin Tuna have been caught too, in less numbers than the Mackarels or Jacks, but still in good size and weight.
In bottom fishing, the Trigger fish remains as the hot one this period.

WEATHER. Sunny (88 F). 46% Humidity. Flat waters. Calm winds. Unlimited Visibility.
LURES: Live Bonito, Dead Mullet, Palitos ("little sticks") False Squid, green/yellow, brown/silver, pink/yellow/orange.

Subject: MAZATLAN - Bibi Fleet - Fish Report - April 16-30,

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico

BILLFISH.
The first Blue Marlins of the season have been caught!! Yes, after lots of Striped Marlins and Sailfish this year, the Blue Marlin was the attraction last week. Special mention to Mr. Rhett Lange and Mr. John Svendsen for catching the first one of the year and heaviest of the week (and so far of all year too), a beautiful 215 lb, 9' 9'' Blue Marlin on April 27th. Other Billfish were caught but not as heavy as that.

OTHER FISH.
Lots of Bonitas and Platanillos have been caught and some average Dorados too. Light tackle has been very useful this month, keeping the lines tight while the boats are on their way to the 20-25 mile distance.
In bottom fishing, the trigger fish has been the hot one this week.

GENERAL.
The last days of the Holly Week holidays were not confortable at all for some fishermen, high tides and winds brought most charters earlier than usual back to the dock, however, as Easter started the winds and waters calmed, giving excellent conditions to go out fishing. We've had 2 weeks in a row now with the perfect conditions to fish, letting the boats reach longer distances. Let's hope it stays like that.

WEATHER. Sunny (81 F). Flat waters. Calm winds. Ilimited Visibility.
LURES: Live Platanillos, Dead Mullet, False Squid, green/yellow, brown/silver, pink/yellow/orange.

FLOTA BIBI FLEET - The First Sportfishing Fleet in Mazatlan, Mexico

Hello everyone, I hope you find this very useful for future fishing trips!

BILLFISH.
Oh yeah, the Sailfish are coming home. With the slight warming up of the waters, the sails were caught again and looks like it will stay like that for a while. The crews changed strategy and went fishing on the 12-15 mile offshore range, a great spot for catching the sails and Mahi's, although some charters went to the 25 mile range looking for those monster Marlins. Special mention to Mr. Olson from Washington and his partner Mr. Biggio (from Nice, France) and their 67 lb sailfish (only 8 miles away, not bad at all in Mazatlan), 41 lb Mako Shark and a nice Dorado too.
Next week has been forecasted cloudy and cool, let's see how things happen.

OTHER FISH.
Besides our already mentioned Mako Shark, many Dorados (20-30 lb), and Bonitas were caught during this period. The Mahi's, kids' favorite, have been seen in schools not far from the shore. Small amounts of YFTuna and Chulas (Frigate Mackerel) were caught too. No Crevalle Jacks this time.

WEATHER. Sunny, and with flat waters.
LURES: Dead Mullet, gren/yellow, brown/silver, pink/yellow/orange.
