Subject: Fishing Report for Week of January 19th

The fishing is not going to get much better thatn it is right now! There are big stripers up & down the beach...so...if stripers is what you want....stripers is what we got! We are still averaging about 30-50 fish per trip (way more than the limit so, unfortunately we do have to throw some back). Give us a call as we do have some half & full day trip dates open. Also, don't forget summer is right around the corner (REALLY or is that "REELY"?) & it is not too early to book for those dates now as the best dates are getting booked already.
It looks like it is going to be a great season for us. Give us a call at (252)473-1281 or (252)423-0129 to book a trip.

Subject: Stripers on the day after Thanksgiving

It's the day after Thanksgiving & the fishing is still good! We've been catching some more of those BIG STRIPERS(!) with most of them weighing in at around 20lbs. The water temp today was 54 degrees so the fishing should be getting even better! Give us a call at 252-473-1281 or 252-423-0129.

Subject: Easter Week-End Fishing

3/29/02 Friday we went wreck fishing off the beach in the morning & we had a good trip. We had a Mom & son trip & they got to have some quality time! It was none stop action for them that morning...slick calm, no wind, & sea bass up to 4lbs. as well as a few sharks. The wreck fishing has been great!
The young man in our party that morning caught a citation sea bass & Mom is going to have it mounted for him!
3/29/02 Friday PM's trip tookus to a wreck about 15 miles from the inlet. The fish were hungry there too. We again caught some nice sea bass as well as a few taugs that weighed up to 8lbs.
3/30/02 Saturday AM trip we went to Manns Harbor to fish for school stripers. We had a good trip with a limit plus of 2-6lb. fish caught on eels around the pilings.
3/30/02 Saturday PM trip was slow fishing & we ended up with 9 stripers. The wind had started blowing hard form the SW & conditions were tough.
3/31/02 Sunday AM trip...rain, rain & more rain. We headed back to the Harbor, caught some stripers that weighed up to 5lbs. The party fished hard - we ended up with 6 fish for the trip.

Subject: Oregon Inlet Stripers1 1/21

After two days of hard blows and setting to the dock, I finally made it back out this morning (1/21). I ran my charter boat “Poacher” south out of Oregon Inlet and started marking some bait in the 50ft range. Stopped south of the Pea Island Ranger station and started getting a scattered bite in the bait marks. Small stripers (10lbs to 15lbs) but better than nothing, landed 17 in about an hour and a half, trolling parachutes and stretches. When the SW wind picked up so did the fishing, the bait pushed towards the beach and schools of feeding stripers were stretched from Rodanthe to the boiler. We landed another 4 or 5 trolling then caught a few casting to rolling fish with the 15lb spinning tackle. Ended the morning with 28 stripers between 10lbs and 28lbs. This afternoon the fish made it easy for me, great big marks of solid stripers in the 40ft to 50 ft ranges off Pea Island. When I set my lines out I could see busting fish and several boats hooked up, with birds swirling all around. Loaded my trolling rigs on the first pass and it stayed like that for over an hour. We landed 30 plus fish in the 12lb to 28lb ranges and called it a quick afternoon. Look for fishing to stay hot as long as we have a West type wind. Good Luck, Devin Cage www.poachersportfishing.com (252) 473-6108
