Subject: Florida Peacock & Largemouth Bass
On Monday Tom May from Fort Worth Texas choose a split of fishing, which means fishing for Peacock & Largemouth all in the same day. Also, Chuck Brewer of Coral Springs, FL with Father-in-law Mike booked a full day peacock trip with on of Hawghunter's guides Chuck. Both boats started out in Miami for the Peacock's leaving the ramp at 8am, before the sky's open up on us and the lighting flashing we managed to put only two fish in the boat.
After about a 45min. delay and hiding under a bridge for cover, we commenced fishing. The cloud cover still making it a tough day of fishing, trying everything to get a bite. Then at noon the sun broke threw the clouds, and the action started. Tom pitched a shiner into a hole, connecting with a nice 3.8 lb. peacock. As he was fighting the bass I had spotted another in the same hole, telling Tom to pitch a tube bait, causing this 5lber. to flash the bait several time without a hooking up. I decided to let her calm down a bit and search for another, then to return later. Tom was casting up to the banks and worked the shiner back to the boat, when his rod bent and the bail was bingeing striped. Tom was now experiencing what he had come down here for, the powerful Butterfly Peacock Bass. While fighting this trophy, it created a feeding frenzy with 3 others behind his catch. At the end of the battle Tom was a proud angler while he held up his 5.8lb Peacock Bass for pictures. After the thrill we returned to the one we left behind, she was still there hidden in the hydrilla. After 20 mins. victory was Tom's with another 5lber.
Realizing that it was time for lunch and we still had the rest of the day for Largemouth in the Everglades, I called in Chuck and his party to finish up where we had left off. Their success at the end of the day was 14 peacock 2 largemouth, biggest being 4lb.
Once arriving in the Glades the action never stopped catching one after another, all on artificial plastics. The baits of choice were Gambler Flappin Shads and Super Flukes, swimming and just dead dropping them both by the edge of the pads. The day ended at 9pm, a long day of great action a lot of pictures and several bass caught. This is a trip that only "The Hawghunter" offer for his costumers. Hawghunter guides 7 days a week and will customize your day to fit your needs, Corporate accounts welcome also. This afternoon a great couple Chad & Stephanie Steward from Bolder Colorado decide to fulfill a desire to go catch Peacock Bass, the affordable way, in Miami Florida. Eventhough we got rained on and cloudy and windy, we caught fish. Chad struck first with a nice 3.5lb peacock swimming a tube bait down deep. With the wind kicking up a bit we started throwing chug bugs, which led to 3 or 4 strikes. Then there was a massive explosion on a fire tiger chug bug, surprising enough it was a 5 lb. Largemouth. Then we tried throwing countdown rapala's and husky jerks in hope to catch a snook to complete "The Grand Slam," which is, in the same day catching a peacock, a largemouth and a snook. With no success we moved on till Lady Luck hooked into a nice 4 lb. peacock on a shiner, followed by another then another. Chad dedicated to artificial lost at least a 6 lber. on a skitter pop. The day consisted of 8 peacock's 1 largemouth and a lot of laughs. The picture tells it all, if your looking to catch fish, and have a good time give "The Hawghunter" a call. He guides 7 days a week and waiting to take the next angler to experience the power of the Peacock Bass. The Bass today were caught on Skitter pops, countdowns, tubes, jigs, chug bugs and shiners. Subject: Florida Peacock Bass
On Thursday, Edmund Brennan and Travis Williams from Georgia, decided to come down to Florida to fish for both Peacock & Largemouth Bass. So "The Hawghunter" provides the boys with a fishing experience to remember, fishing for both species in the same day. Starting out in the morning for Peacock's we headed out the Airport Lakes for the first half of the day. The bait of choice was small shiners, which put the first of many peacock in the boat. After moving on into Mahar Lake, where Edmund missed a large peacock that we had spotted, on the return try Travis's was successful, landing a real nice 5.3lb. butterfly peacock. Travis after taking picture released her for the next angler. We then proceeded to the next location where Edmund then got his shot with a 4.8lb. which gave a fight like no other bass has before, and an experience he'll remember. By 1:30 and 21 Peacock later we broke for a great lunch at Sonia's before heading to the Everglades for Largemouth Bass. Both Edmund & Travis were accustom to fishing farm ponds, so the Glades was a nice experience. We had got to the Park by about 4:30pm and wet the lines by 5, to capture that late bite, on the very first cast Edmund caught a bass. All the bass were caught on artificial baits, the boys started out dead dropping super fluke with no weight, and Gambler swacky worms, also we used Flappin' Shads, chug bugs and bang-o-lures. In only 3 hours, they caught over 70 bass, what a ball, a lot of action, and right now The Glades are hot. On your next trip to down see what Florida has to offer for a fishing experience to remember. "The Hawghunter" guides 7 days a week, so give us a call. Good Fishin', Capt. Frank Carbone

WOW! The peacock are hitting and were catching the quality and quantee again. Today Steve and Vance Jones from Ohio experianced fishing like never before. With the clear blue skies and warm weather, the Peacock's were out. Within the first 5 mins. Vance landed his first ever Peacock Bass and surprised by the fight this 3 lber.gave. By the time we broke for lunch the boys had about 12 in the boat up to 4lb. After lunch we traveled to another spot where we had spotted several bass bedding, putting 8 more in the boat. Then I had located a 6lb. peacock which Vance struggled to catch. I would not let him give up till she was in the boat, about 1-1/2 hours later she finally ate,Vance landed a true trophy a 6.7lb.Peacock Bass. The boys had two great mount to add the the memories of that day in Miami fishing forthe Amazon Bass. The fallowing day we went to the Everglades for Largemouth. The mourning had a lot of action with 4 large bass over 4lb. So the Ohio boys experienced bassin' Florida Style. See what your all missing "TheHawghunter" guide 7 days a week, book your next trip for a day to remember. Check out our site daily for the up to date reports and photos. Good Fishin', Capt. Subject: Florida peacock Bass 8lb.
Today was a special day a new Hawghunter Record was broken. On a split day trip Jack & Scott Franz from LaGrange IL. had the best of both worlds. We started in the mourning going out to the Glades(Sawgrass)where I showed the boys Bass fishing Florida style. I went out to the east canel and started Scott off with flappin shads and flukes in the pads. While Dad Jack was dragging shiners off the back.Jack got the stink out of the boat with the first 2lb. bass. Scott on the other hand started to get the hang of things, catching a few 1-2lb. bass, with the flapper, then he banged his biggest bass 5.11lb. right out of the edge of the pads to end a nice day between the both catching 20+ largemouth. Then we headed to Miami for The Peacock Bass, by late mouning the two had a pair of twin 4.12 lb Peacock's and a total of 8 in all. Feeling content with their catch we decided to break for a great waterside cafe lunch at Sonia's, there we had a few beers and some sea food and then back to fishing. Once back on the water with the sun high and blue bird sky the action increased and so did the size. Proceeding to a canal that I've found productive in the late afternoon sun, they pick up another 6. Then it happened we spotted 3 peacock's in this one hole noticing one to be of good size. After 2 or 3 attemps Scott nails one that weighed 3.12lb. Realizing that wasn't the one we had spotted he continued to work the same hole. After about 20 mins. with Dad watching on This "Monster Peacock" crushes his bait, taking out 60 feet of line, at this point we knew it was the bass we had seen earlier. He run his bail 4 times everytime he saw the boat.At one point he came flying out of the water thinking for sure he'd spit the hook, Scott working his trophy perfectly,we finally netted him. This male Butterfly Peacock Bass weighed in at 7lb.11oz. with lenth of 23 inches. This was the last fish of the day which gave the boys something to talk about all the way back to Ill.in the car.Check out more photos and reports on "The Hawghunters" site for daily updates. You could be the next one to break the record and win a FREE mount compliments of Hawghunter Guide Service. Today I had headed out for another Peacock adventure with repeat customer Ricky Fried from Florida, his Brother-in-law Philip and nephew Evan from N.Y. The first fish of the day was a Jack caught on a topwater plug, the fight lasted 10 mins. For 12 year old Evan this was his fisrt fishing trip and a memorable one at that. The young angler caught the first Peacock and the largest Largemouth of the day.By the end of the day the count was Evan 8 Ricky 7 and Philip only 2 which his son wouldn't let him forget the whole day. The boys caugth at the end 15-Peacock's 2-Largemouth & 1-nice Jack. You can also experiance what the Fried family has,by booking a trip with "The Hawghunter" this winter. To all have a Happy New Year & Good Fishin' Capt. Frank Carbone

Fishin' Report Lake Okeechobee
Florida Freshwater Fishing Report for: Lake Okeechobee, Lake Istokpoga and Stick Marsh/Farm 13
Like I’ve been saying, we are really tearing up the Bass as was proved again yesterday by long time Bass fisherman Bob Barney. He boated 29 Bass including a 24” 8#er and a 26” 10#er. All were released but the memories will last forever. This was the same Bass hole that Becky and her mom Betty caught the Bass in last week.
We are catching Bass in both numbers and in quality. Give me a call or send an e-mail for your reservations. Get some suntan before you arrive, as it is still warm. See you soon.
Weather note:
Water temperature has been around 65 to 73 degrees f.
Having a low of around 60 f with days of 75 to 82 air temperatures.
The big lake is around 14.9 feet above sea level.
Check http://cyberangler.com/weather/, www.weather.com/, or www.gopbi.com /weather/, http://www.srh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p19r0/si.kmlb.shtml/ before you venture out on the water.
Lake Okeechobee:
Specks are hitting both Jigs and minnows in the grass all over the big lake.
For Bass, as usual, the Wild Golden Shiners are the bait of choice. Always keep a top water lure on deck. That includes your flyrod. Use the Pecks chartreuse #2 popper flies.
I am seeing too many top-water fisher-folks working the lures way too fast. Think of the ‘dying minnow’ as something to emulate and dying minnow isn't racing across the water at breakneck speed. When you think you are going too slow, slow down some more.
Go with top water in low light conditions and then green glitter worms and crank baits in silver and blue and silver and black after the sun gets up. Use spinner baits in white or chartreuse when there is a breeze. Look for 2 kinds of veggies to toss your lure near. That’s where the Bass are located.
Lake Istokpoga and the Stick Marsh:
Water in both reservoirs is back up to a useable level. Use caution while boating.
The Bass are really on a feed in the Stick Marsh and the water is really high. The specks are hitting in the Stick Marsh. Try the deep channels for these fine-eating scrappers.
Fun on the water this week: Bob Barney with both a bunch and some really big Bass. The fish were caught in Capt. Doyle’s hole.
Safety:
Please keep in mind SAFETY at all times. I may be in the next boat.

The peacock is still a good choice for an enjoyable day of fishing.Today I had taken out Chuck Bednarz from Chicago for the fourth time, but this time with his better half Amy and 8yr.old son Mike. The first fish came quick with Mike catching a nice 3lb.peacock which he claimed broke his arm,but proceeded to fish the rest of the day.We were fishing an area called Blue Lagoon, after about an hour of fishing and 4 fish over the side, the Bednarz's Family experianced what they felt was the highlite of the trip.Together they spent 20 or so mins. petting, playing and takeing pictures with a family of mannatees. We then continued to our next spot picking up 1/2 doz. more peacock's and 1 NICE Largemouth Bass which CHUCK caught. By this time Mike was hungry so we broke for lunch at this great international cuban waterside cafe (Sonia's). After lunch the action picked up a bit,but this time Amy took charge landing one after another. I think her skills were enhenced by the corona's she had with lunch which made for a good laugh as she was busting them on Chuck passing him in number of peacock's caught.Mike almost had the trophy,he fought a nice 5-6lb. peacock, this fish had ran his bail three time before she pulled off right at the boat,we'll catch her next time Mike. By the end of the day the family had landed 18 peacock's 1 largemouth ,played with a manatee enjoyed a great meal and have a lot of pictures and memories to share. If your coming to Florida soon give "The Hawghunter" a call so you also can experiance the what the Bednarz's did.Good Fishin' Capt. Water Temperature: 83 Water Clarity: 0
Hi all, well the action is still on as the hot sunny weather continues. Today I had a repeat costomers Tony & Chuck Bednarz a father and son team from Chicago. This day started out a little different, Tony (father)put the first fish in the boat a real nice 34" Snook that gave him a heck of a fight with only 12lb. test line. The fishing started out a little slow in the mourning, catching only 5 peacock's 1 snook and 2 largemouths. With peacock's you have to move around a lot till you locate them, but when you do the fun begins. After we broke for lunch I had gone to an area where there was cleaner water, and the action was steady for the rest of the day. Although the biggest was only 3.5 lb caught by Tony most all the peacock's were in the three lb. range which makes for a great fight. At the end of the day between both angler's they managed to boat 19 Peacock's 3 largemouth and 1 Snook. The boys will be back again in November for some Largemouth action with The Hawghunter. Good Fishin' Capt. Frank Carbone Pictures will be e-mailed upon request.

Well, with the increase in water levels the Everglades Largemouth Fishing has drop off big time. But on the other hand it hasn't stopped the Peacock Bass from biting at all. On todays trip we caught 16 Peacock 2 largemouth 2 snook and had a tarpon strike.Several other fish were spotted but were hard to catch with the current running the way it was. We started out with shiners with split shots down deep, that's where we found the bigger fish, with in two mins. the first peacock was in the boat as several fallowed. One of the Alabama boys picked up a rod with a count down Rapala and statred working it in the running water catching peacock largemouth and a snook, the other stucked to the shiners but this time adding more weight to hold the shiner down for better results. As many other costomers in the past have remarked, they are amazed by the power and fight this 3 lb. fish has. A Peacock fishing trip is truly an adventure worth experiencing if your coming to South Florida this summer or just want to get away for a few days of fishing.Look for The Hawghunter on The Outdoor Channel, Fishing with Bob Dillow this week and see what your missing. As Bob Morris from California found out last Thur. in the hot weather the Peacock Bass bite best. The day started out slow with the rain ,but when the rain seized and the sun broke out the bite was on. Not only did we catch peacock's but also largemouth 2 snook and 1 tarpon. The peacock's were caught on shiners the others on artifical. As an added attraction to his trip he saw manatee, several iguana and other interesting sight as we traveled the Venice on Miami canals. So if your going to be down here this summer and want to enjoy a great day of fishing give us a call. Subject: Peacock & Largemouth Bass
Hi all, before I start out talking about how great fishing is down hear right now, I like to take a moment and talk about SAFETY. Maybe some of you might have about the fisherman that was struck down by lighting last Sunday while fishing a tournament in the Everglades. This is a friend of mine, Jeff Justice, who was only 100 feet from me when this all happened. Most of know that fishing is good during a storm or rain, now you can fish in rain, but for God sake if it is lighting or thundering, there is two things to due. 1. Take everything off the deck and lay down on the floor till it stops. 2. Secure everything and ride with caution, by moving your increase your odds of not getting hit. God was on Jeff side that afternoon after being air lifted to a hospital he regained feeling in his legs, he suffered a few scars and burns and a lose a feeling in a finger. Largemouth Now, back to fishing The Everglades is still one of the best Largemouth Bass fishing in Florida right now. In that same tournament the winning weight was 29lb. and big fish was 7lb.10oz. You don't want to hear about the one that got away. All the action was on soft jerkbaits, and some topwater. The better bite seems to be in the afternoon, eventhough we had our limit in the mourning, then culling out our smaller fish in the afternoon.
Peacock On Sat. the Peacock action was right on the money. The entire day we used only artificial baits. We started out pitching plastic mini craws into the holes and jigging rattletraps, to create strikes. Also a few were caught on topwater plugs. After a few hours of sight fishing we moved on to another location. One of my favorite spots, the Airport Lakes. Once there the action was started using countdown rapalas, suspended lures, traps and topwater. The day was cut a little short due to the weather, rain. At the end we managed to catch 22 peacock's and 3 snook. On Tues. I had the pleasure of taking out O'Neill Williams for his first Peacock adventure in the states. He was like all newcomers amazed by the aggressiveness, attitude, and fight these sport fish have. On film we captured great footage of the Peacock attacking the bait several times, striping the bait and coming back for more. By 10:00am we had almost enough footage for a segment, after taking a rain break and catching another 1/2 doz. peacock's we headed to Blue Lagoon for somemore great action, there the highlight was catching a 40lb. tarpon on a suspended lure all on film. So remember, with Peacock's the hotter months are the better months, if Florida is where your spending your next summer vacation or if you just want to get away for a few day give me a call or e-mail, you DON'T have to go to The Amazon to catch Peacock's. Good Fishin' The Hawghunter.
