Subject: Lake Monticello Report
Lake Monticello Water Temperature: 64 to 70 Water Clarity: 3 feet I fished a ½ day trip today (Thursday) with Yale Graham & his brother. Fishing on Lake Monticello is slow. If you’re heading out there make sure to take your light line and Carolina-rigs. The lake looks to be about 2 feet low, at least. The fish did not want any of the baits that I’ve been catching them as of late. So I kept climbing into my worm box until I finally found the colors that they wanted and even then it was still slow. We finished out ½ day with 12 solid fish on Carolina-rigs and finesse’ worms. The colors that worked best were watermelon/red, red bug, june bug/red and sour grape. The fish very fat and sassy & I’m expecting the spawn to be really good. With the upcoming cold fronts fishing should begin to pick-up again, especially once the clouds move in. Yale, "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you again in the future!
If I can be of more help or assistance regarding a trip or "Bassin’ Class" please contact me at 972-414-5189 / 800-965-0350 or by e-mail at FISHWJEFF@msn.com. The "Fat Girls" are up and can be seen at http://www.fishinwithjeff.com and you can receive more information on my full-time guide service & "Bassin' Class." I do not have a "Bassin’ Class scheduled at this time. Don’t forget Lake Fork spawn finishes up the first part of June. Until next time…………….Good Luck & Tight-Lines!!!

Subject: Weekly Monticello Report
Lake Monticello Water Temperature: 60’s to low 70’s Water Clarity: 1 feet
I fished two full day trips on Saturday & Sunday with repeat customers Lee Hardin & his son Ryan, we caught 23. Monticello appears to be the only lake around that is at normal pool. However, on Sunday the entire lake was very stained and fishing was tough as well, as we only caught 5 fish. Saturday the water clarity was not too bad on the South end of the lake, you could even see fish up on the beds. The North end of the lake was not very productive for us at all. In fact, we only caught 6 fish North of the 127Hwy. bridge. All of our fish came from 8 feet or less of water. We caught our fish on Gene Larew green pumpkin & watermelon lizards and the new Genesis Lure Craw fishing them a variety of ways. Such as a Carolina-rig, Dropshot-rig & a Texas-rig. If you have not seen or fished the Genesis Craw you need too. This bait is a fish bait!!! It looks exactly like a craw-fish. What I mean by a fish bait is that every fish we caught on it weighed better than 4lbs. and we caught over 12 fish over 4 pounds! It really didn’t matter where we fished on the South end the shallow fish are there and CAN be caught. Lee & Ryan, "Thank you" I look forward to fishing with you again in the future!

I have 2 days left in February (23&28), 3 days left in April, 12 in May and plenty for June. Don’t forget Lake Fork spawn finishes up the first part of June. Until next time…………….Good Luck & Tight-Lines!!!

Lake Monticello
Water Temperature: 60’s Water Clarity: 3 feet
I fished a full day trip on Monday with repeat customer Ronnie McGranahan,we caught 23. Although, that sounds like a good day, we did not have but 7 fish prior to 2pm. That is when the wind picked up a little bit and the fish began to bite a little better for us. None of the fish weighed more than 5 ½ pounds and most went between 1 and 3 ½. Our fish came from 2 to 4 feet of water early, on Lockhart ¼oz. white spinnerbaits. Then as the day progressed we started throwing Texas-rigged Gene Larew black and green pumpkin worms. We fished these in water 4 to right at 14 feet of water. The best areas were where the water was the warmest and just around from main lake points. Pre-spawn is trying its best to take place, there are very few fish up fanning beds. In fact, we only saw 4 and that was out of two different areas. If we can get some warmer weather in here things will change very quickly and drastically.

I must say fishing is slow no-matter where you put your boat in now-days!
Last Friday, I fished with repeat customer Gary Gruber, we caught 11. Then on Wednesday, I went out for a few hours and took a good friend with me, we caught 8. Today, Saturday, I fished with Rodney Sisk & his son Brad, we caught 7 in a ½ day. Considering how hard fishing has been due to first the rain, then high pressure skies and today extremely high wind I figure the fact that we even caught fish we had good days!!! We have been throwing unweighted flukes, Lockhart firetiger spinnerbaits and chrome/blue Rattletraps up against the reeds and as the day progresses moving out to main lake and secondary points, throwing Carolina-rigged Red Shad salt frys in water 14 to 18 feet.

Upon completion of the class you receive a $25.00 discount towards a full day guide trip with me and a tackle pack. The first scheduled “Bassin’ Class” for 2001 is January 27th. Lake Monticello
Water Temperature: 85 Water Clarity: 3'
On Monday, I had the pleasure of fishing my first trip of the Fall on Lake Monticello. What a great time repeat customer Ronnie McGranahan and I had, we caught 39 bass up to 7lbs. The lake is only 1' low and is in great shape! I have been on a very good bite on Monticello for quite a while now. Today was the proof. We caught our fish on pop'rs, Lockhart chartreuse spinnerbaits, chrome/blue Rattletraps, wacky rigs and Caronlina-rigged Gene Larew Red Bug french frys. Fishing main lake, secondary points in water 3 to 28 feet of water. I realize that is a wide range of water to be fishing but depending on what we were throwing at the time dictated what depth of water we fished.
