subject: sturgeon fishing at the wall

willamette river sturgeon fishing was excellent last sunday april,30th. We got to the wall by willamette falls in oregon city at about 7:30 AM we were "bank fishing" we had a variety of baits that all worked we started with sand shrimp and 5 minutes after i casted we had our first keeper 44".the next fish we caught 15 minutes later was another keeper at 46"after that we decided to try smelt.after 5 minutes of being in the water we hooked an over size but lost him.we caught 2 more keepers both in th 42"-46" range that day along with 8 shakers all in all it was a good day off fishing. the best bait if u can find it is lamprey eel just a 2" chunk is the best bait for the wall and will catch u very large keepers and over sized. If you can't find eel i recamend using a large crawdad and wraping it on ur hook.Or just sand shrimp with crawfish scent

Sturgeon fishing on the willamette has been hot in the deeper water for keeper size fish. Spring chinook are showing from the mainstem columbia to the falls in oregon city, the catch has been spotty so far but expect that to change and the bite to turn on any day.
Trolling herring either plug cut or whole as well as cured prawns seem to be the most productive methods.

Subject: Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River

WINTER STURGEON FISHING
Keeper size sturgeon [42" to 60"] fishing has been good on the Columbia River near Bonneville Dam in the Horsetail Fall area. Most days we are hooking up with 10-20 fish with 2-4 keepers per trip. There are still a few oversize sturgeon in the area [average size 71/2 foot].best baits are smelt, squid & eel.
Keep a tight line & looking forward to fishing with you. Your Pro Guide, Duane
