The Fall of 2004 has been a memorable one for the annual Walleye run and still going strong. Traverse Bay at the mouth of the Lake Winnipeg and the Winnipeg River were very productive yesterday. Cranking has slowed a bit in Traverse Bay but was still able to pick few 6 to 8 pounders. #9 Rappala Shad Raps were working the best trolling real slow S Turns. Jigging the Bay was also very productive. Lots of big Walleye caught off the drop offs and rock piles just off the main channel. Fishing in the river was very good but hard anchoring due to the current. Plenty of action but had to use 1 to 1.5 oz. jigs to touch bottom. Both live chubs and salted minnows worked well. Water temp. was 41 degrees in the River but 38 degrees in the Bay.
