Hi Everyone, How are you’ll? Hope you all had a nice weekend. Well, I had been under Maktoom bridge on Friday evening but did not manage to catch any fish. I used squid, shrimps, mackerel and even atta thinking at least I could catch small ones but - no bites. One guy managed to catch 2 small catfish, and other caught variety of small one - his was a good catch within 1 hour of fishing. He was using multiple hooks on one line with shrimps. Even I tried to copy him with multiple hooks & shrimps, but did not get thru. But at exactly at 7.30 suddenly I saw group of fishes coming very close to me, then suddenly they started jumping…… they were Barracudas, I remembered Pranab, it was a wonderful sight, I even showed my son, who too was excited, & tried to catch them but could not. One of them was around 1.5 feet long. Better luck next time. Any luck with you guys. Bye, Ronald |

Pranab, I thing you are correct. All the fishes have gone deeper in to the sea due to the hot weather. I went to Makhtoom bridge on Thursady evening around 7 but did not get anything. I think Makhtomm bridge is not a good spot for fishing as all the bait is bitten of by Crabs as there are alot of crabs in the makhtoom area due to rocks. I also faced the first check of the fishing license by the Muncipality guys there. Although there were a few guys doing crabbing and another expat fising without a licnese but they were not fined. They were told to leave. Regards |

hi guys , dont get disappointed due to summer . My self amir schuber his friend and salim spend 2 hours in the beach of omal quain but did not pick up a single fish . Then we drove down to dubai at al sheef . 4 hours more there and u knw what . Schuberts friend pickd up a small naser and i pickd up a small cat fish thats all . When every one was tired and went back home i carried on to jumeriah . Anothre 2 hours and i got only 2 small sheris . Then the sun was so hot i felt dizzy and went home . So that is fishing in summer months . But guess what a silver lining . Saleem called from om al quain that he saw the spot which amir mentioned us and yesss the were few westerners picking up barracuda near by peacock resort . It seems they got a few good ones because they were doing barbecue with that fish and enjoying . So there is still hope and i will for sure run again to omal quain to get them regards |

Thanks for the tips we received from you, Amir and Salim. Salim, best of luck to you. Hope you find some good fishing spots when you are back in Mumbai. Cheers Schubert |

Hahahaha ! Sorry Rami, no I dont mean that way, you got it all wrong. When I say jitter the line...I mean the same thing as you say (playing the guitar) The split ring is easy to put onto your line & the hole is big enough for it to slide down the entire line, over the swivel, etc & go upto the hook. When that goes down & you jitter the line...it is more irritating for the fish. I do hope you understood what I was trying to say. Did you? In other words, the split ring is a tool to irritate fish. :o) |

HI Keyur, You use split ring instead of Swivel, that's fine (under heavy preasure the split ring with split open, That's why I use swivels) but what do you mean by jitter the line ? Remember, this is my version of this setup and it's works fine for me. everybody can do their own version, and if it works, that's the purpose. Thanks |

Hi Rami, I use a split ring on my line & then jitter the line......I think it is more effective. It would be interesting to meet up with you sometime. |

Hi, I have 2 answers, 1- Play the Guitar, How?????????? use your line as a guitar, the vibrations of the line and the tighter your line the sharper the vibes...that should drive grouper crazy and head out of it's hideout. 2- Other opption is Free spool you reel so that no tention on the line. and wait for 20 to 30 minutes, if the grouper doest come out, you have no choise but to cut the line. I hope this helps Rami |

Hi Rami / Chua, Is the last question a trick question ? I have no clue about getting the fish out once it is stuck. I'm not sure if you are familiar with flying paper kites.....We use this term tichki (pull & release the line with a jerk) after that I then leave it lose for a little while. I usually repeat it a couple of times till I get the line out. Never really thought about getting it out with the fish, although sometimes I do get the fish. Is there some method to get it out with the fish? If so please let me know. Chua, what video is that, I cant view any videos at work. Can you describe what is in the video ? Chua, I will meet you over the weekend. Got my new reels yesterday. |

"Now, my question. What if the fish wins the battle and heads to its hideout, and your line is not cut. What do you do to get the fish out?" This is quite simple............ dive into the water, tell the fish a joke....when it is laughing pull it out. If the fish doesnt laugh...then swear at its mother & father. It will get angry & come after you.....then you pull it up. If the fish still doesnt come out, tickle it till it cries out holding its stomach. By now you will surely be able to pull it out. Hope you all enjoyed your fishing lesson. On Friday the guruji no 3 will conduct a practical examination. The venue will be informed shortly. Please keep you fishing rods, lines, hooks all ready. You will not be permitted to borrow any equipment. No borrowing bait & no using nets. School is over for today |

Hi All, I am going to start a series of my preferred techniques that produced will in the past and still producing decent size fish. Some of them are for deep sea and others for surf and at the end will keep a question open so we can have an open discussion about it. Today, we’re targeting Groupers. First, we need to know more the fish we’re pursuing. It lives deep on rocks and around reefs. It has huge mouth and a lot of power. It feeds by swallowing its prey and running back to its hole. Now to catch it and this worked well for me in the US, Kuwait, UAE, Oman and the Red Sea. 1- a 5foot leader of 80LB tied to a circle hook No. 10/0 2- Main line is 40LB. 3- Tie your leader to a swivel and slide an egg sinker to the main line then a red bead to stop the sinker hitting on your knot and tie it to the other end of the swivel. 4- Find some rocky bottom on your fish finder or sounder. 5- Drop a bag of chum to the bottom as that will attract the fish to your chum slick and create a feeding frenzy. 6- Place a live pin fish (small grunt or she’ri will do) on the hook through its nose or use cut bait(you can use a whole dead one and butter fly it and hook it through the nose). (I prefer live bait) 7- Drop your line to the bottom until there’s a slack in the line, then have your line tight and reel 3 rounds to get your sinker off the bottom. 8- Make SURE your DRAG is tight as possible as the first few minutes are the hardest, you want to keep the fish away from its home. Once that is accomplished you can loosen your drag to play the fish to the surface. 9- Remember circle hooks doesn’t need any hook setting as the fish movement away with the hook in its mouth sure sets the hook in the side. Now, my question. What if the fish wins the battle and heads to its hideout, and your line is not cut. What do you do to get the fish out? Thanks Good luck |

Hi Keyur Thnaks for your reply. Im based in Abu Dhabi and I managed to catch the "Silver Grunt" in the Mina area. I caught a smaller one yesterday as well. By the way, are you sure it is a Silver Grunt because google results for Silver Grunts seems to be slightly different than the one in my post. |

Hi Iftikhar shb. Sir, There are two types of people in the world. One who creates problems and the other one who solves problems. There are afew people who like to create problems but they are a minority. Guys like us would always want to meet you and learn things from you. There is no price for experience. Pranab is a excellant guy who simply wants every guy involved with fishing to form a small community in Dubai, which is a great idea being away from your own country. |

HI Zahed, Welcome to the forum. Nice to see some new faces here. The fish in the pic is called a 'Silver Grunt' in english. In arabic it is called 'Nagroor'. This is usually found in abundance in march - april. They grow to a max size of 50cms. There are other varities of grunts in the UAE which grow a bit larger, but the one shown in the pic is a silver grunt. Where did you catch this? |

I have been reading this forum for quite some time from a common fishing friends id . Today i created my id . Just want to tell you any one making surcastic remarks here is being seen by people world over . People should take care while they write any thing here because what ever remarks they make can be misintrepeted by people who are watching this forum as being the cultural value of the nationality who makes such remarks . This forum is about fishing . It should stay like that . Its ture all that people write here are not relevant to every one . For example a person who is into deep sea fishing might not be intersted in shore fishing topic and vise versa . Because all can not afford a boat here . I have noticed fishermen in dubai are from different social backdrops . Some might be a labourer who earns 1000 dirhams and still hold the passion for fishing . Others can be very influntial people out here . But the bottom line is no one has the right to make surcastic comments which is uncalled for . I wish good sence prevails here and all of us talk about fishing and only fishing . And people who dont have enough to say about fishing should keep quite and listen and try to gather knowledge . Please dont treat my write up as an advice its just a friendly sugession to make this dubai fishing forum a better place . I am really impressed that dubai being such a small place has climbed up the ladder is just behind USA and MEXICO in the world listing of this forum . We should all feel proud about it . Lets all join hands and make this forum a better place for exchanging fishing ideas . |

Hi every one, I have not been doing alot of fishing due to conveyance problem. I however do agree with Pranab that every thing cannot be learnt through books, if reading books would have been a solution than, there would have been no need for prctical experience as is the case with Chartered Accountants, Doctors, lawers etc. Besides this we should not forget that this forum is an excellant opportunity to make friends and enhance you friend circle. |

hi jeen , First of all i would like to tell you i do respect you as a stalwart in uae fishing scene . I have seen your presence in indian angler also . My request to you is please write about your experiences of fishing to make the forum more lively . It will help newcomers like me and many more out here to learn more about fishing . I dont thinnk buying a book solves the problem because they are not in context to local fishing scene neither they are written on specific fish variety available here . I have learn a lot more by just talking to local fisherman who are uneducated but do a living on fishing at the many fishing villages scattered over jumeriah sea beach . Then just imagine with a person like you who is a store house of fishing knowledge , what would be the effect if you write on this forum . I will be personally extremly happy if you just share your experiences out here on the forum for novices like me . By the way , there is a guy in auh his name is mansoor and he is crazy about fishing . He was looking for some one to go out fishing with . Let me know if i can give your cell no to him .He is not a member of this forum . I happen to know him as he is a client of mine in auh . Awaiting your approval on the above mentioned subject regards |

Hi fellow fisherfolk, I dont want anyone to feel like an outcast in any way. Everyone is welcome here. I'm sure that some of you have been fishing for some time & would definately want to mingle with the so called 'experienced' anglers. However, out of the members here some have been fishing for decades while others are newcomers. Some who are merely fascinated with fishing, others who are obsessed with fishing, some who use fishing as a means to relax & others who use it as a sport. I am not going to be the one to decide who can or cant be a part of the forum, nor will I be a moderator here. It would be appreciated if everyone in their own minds would contribute in any way they can, or feel free to voice their opinions of what can & cant be said here or what should & shouldnt be said or what they would like to hear in this forum. If people with good many years of experience sit in the sidelines, who then can people learn from ? Some may say that they ask stupid questions, but to them its learning something new. Some of the info here is totally unnecessary & I completely agree with you. Its good to hear that you have spoken your mind out & there is absolutely no reason to call yourself any names. This forum can be improved & bettered in many ways as long as there is active participation here. I do look forward to seeing some healthy posts around here, that would serve as a closer knit fishing community. Through this a lot can be learnt as we experience different styles of fishing, new ideas, new locations, new techniques. Knowledge is a waste if it is not shared. It is also true that the more knowledge you share, the more you learn. Learning is a part of our everyday lives till the very end. Looking forward to some good disucssions here. Jeen, you are sneaky...so who gave my card up huh??? someone from AJ's list or was it AJ? tsk tsk tsk...bad news travels fast.hahahhaha anyway sure man, I can teach what i can, attracting them and getting them to bite is one thing, fighting them is another, so make sure that you get a skipper that knows what he's doing. just the sheer speed of the fish craking a bow of line in the water, plus your drag is more than enough to bust the line. kingfish in AD sounds good...ill email you when i get back man... ok guys, this is my last post, next one would be when im home already...hopefully with some pictures on what i'm up to. Hi Guys, Kit, Keyur , PRANAB, and all the other fishos. First of all i would like to apolagize for my very crude and persumably " holier than though" attitude that I projected through my earlier post. Believe me I do not want to be a sarcastic a*** hole or an expert here. And Iam not an expert too.I enjoy my fishing and am continually learning from various forums and guys whom I meet who have had oppurtunities to fish various terrain and hence exposed to different techniques.I am still trying to cast a fly and cant get it past my nose. And yes Kit you can surely come and chase some king fish with me in Abu Dhabi . I can also learn from you a few tricks on how to spread a decent set up for Marlin that I would like to target in the Maldives this year end. |

heres a thought. when was the the last time that someone who claims to be experienced ever posted something useful for everyone? Pranab, Keyur has a good point. putting information like the casting records isnt really that helpful. i doubt if everyone in here would understand it...I leanred that for most of the people here, you just have to go out and show them what you're talking about (case in point, pranab with the distance casting power of the conventional reel...) anyway, Jeen, i would love to fish and learn from you, im sure you would be able to show me how to catch fish because i am clueless on how to chase after pelagics. it would be great if i could have the opportunity to fish with you soon...really. cheers! Hi Fishing team, How are you’ll? Hope you’ll had a nice weekend. Keyur – It was a nice post, clean and neat. Keep it up. Pranab – As Keyur said “There are very few people like you who would share so much info with people around” and of course as time passes by, you’ll know what to write and what not to. Remember -most of us are learners. Everybody likes short and sweet. All are free to discuss, no matter even if you have petite knowledge. Every drop counts………………. Keep Smiling and SHARE your ideas, & if someone is shy of doing so, at least appreciate someone for his little work and correct the mistakes. Cheers ! Ronald |

Fishermen have been banned from going out to sea for the past 3-4 days due to the cyclone. Thats why the price of fish is higher than normal. In fact you should be able to catch more fish now, especially since fewer fish have been harvested in the past few days. lol ! Btw, Pranab, on friday we caught 3 catfish each (3+3 = 6 & not 5) You forgot to mention that I also did catch 2 black spot snappers. our total catch was 6 catfish, 2 scad (not para), 2 black spot snappers & not to forget the crab (did u make soup of it ???) Most importantly of all, you forgot to mention that we were fishing for only @ 45mins to 1hr. Pranab, just a word of advice.....do what you have to do, dont let people bother you. If they do, take a 'CHILL PILL' ;) There are very few people like you who would share so much info with people around. You are also a good friend & besides that we do have some very good anglers who are our friends too. Not to forget that I am aware that one of them also has some class records to his name ;) There are lots of people who remind me of the remoras that stick to sharks & rays for a free meal. All talk & squeeze squeeze squeeze for more info. If asked to share info, they shy away. These people are not a part of the forum cos they are not involved. Being a part of this forum, is participating in the forum. I'm glad that there are soooooo many people actively participating in the forum now. Keep it up Pranab, but cut down on the unnecessary info. People sitting at the computer can very well go into google & type in the fish name & search for details regarding it. Lets stick to what we do here & how we go about doing it. I too am a little irritated with a few people here, & decided to stay away from the forum, however, I cant really stay away & I'm drawn back to it. However, if anyone wants any particular info, please feel free to send me a mail. It doesnt really matter if you are just starting out, its ok to ask any sort of question. I suppose those who say that they are pro's & got their head up in the clouds wouldn't ask any questions. Would you get involved, share some info & ask any? Take care everyone & most important of all, 'Enjoy your fishing'. Warm regards, Keyur ________________________________________ Tight Lines, Best Rods & Screaming Reels |

DEAR JESS , THANKS FOR THE UNDERSTANDING , I LOVE YOU TOO . THIS WEEKEND WAS AVERAGE . ME AND KEYUR WENT TO ALSHEEF IN THE MORNING MANAGED 5 CATFISH SMALLER SIZES TWO PARAS THEN I MOVED TO JUMERIAH I GOT A FEW NASEER THERE AND LOST A BIG HAMOUR AS IT WENT TO THE ROCKS . AFTER THAT I MOVED TO JUMEIRAH 2 ALONG WITH TAYED AND THE FIRST THROW PRODUCED A BABY HAMOUR . MANAGED TO GET A ALMOST 1 KG HOMOUR LATER FOLLOWED WITH FEW MORE NASSER . YESTERDAY WAS BAD I WENT AGAIN TO ALSHEEF . IN ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINS JUST MANAGED A BLUE CRAB WICH CAME BY CHANCE ON THE HOOKS AND ONLY FEW SAME SMALL YELLOW NASSERS . BUT THE BEST PART IS I MET TWO NEW FISHERMAN THERE WHO WAS THERE FOR LONG . MR ABRAR WHO IS A VERY EXPERIENCED GUY . I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE FORUM AND HOPEFULLY WE ALL CAN SEE HIM WRITING HERE IN THE FORUM . HE HAD BEEN FISHING IN DUBAI FOR THE LAST 10 TO 12 YRS . WE CHATTED A LOT IN FACT SO MUCH ABOUT FISH STORIES THAT I MISSED MY SOUP AT CHUAS PLACE . HE WAS TELLING HOW YEARS BACK PEOPLE CAN CATCH KINGS OFF CREEK WHICH IS NOT A DREAM . I MET ANOTHER SYRAN GUY WHOM I SAW FISHING WHO HAS JUST GOT HOOKED TO FISHING FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS . EVERY ONE THERE GOT JUST ONE FISH YESTERDAY ALL NASSERS . THERE WERE NO SIGN OF SHERIS BECAUSE OF THE WARM WEATHER . IT WAS SUPRISING YESTERDAY THE COLOUR OF THE WATER WAS SO NICE AND IT WAS ALSO HIGH TIDE BUT YET DUE TO SOME REASON THERE WERE VERY LITTLE BITES . MAY BE BECAUSE OF THE MOON PHASE . BUT ANY WAYS THTS FISHING . BY THE WAY I NOTICED AT FISH MARKET ALL THE PRICES OF FISH HAS GONE UP BY AT LEAST 3/5 DIRHAMS . SO ITS NOT THAT ONLY WE ARE SUFFERING . EVEN DEEP SEA FISHERMEN ARE AFFECTED IT SEEMS HEY JES CAN I HAVE UR CELL NO . MINE IS 0506789546 REGARDS |

Hi Everyone, How was your weekend fishing trip. On Friday evening at around 5.30 pm I had been at Abra side, right at the end, with my Son. It was fun, although I did not manage to catch anything, except plastic bags etc. but my Son was really exited with his catch - one small fish and small crab, although it was small fixing but it made up the day. Today first thing in the morning when he got up he reminded me about his catch. Hi Schubert – Welcome to fishing. You can find all fishing accessories in Deira behind St. George Hospital ( port end I suppose), the shops are located right at the end side. Bye, Ronald |

Dear jean , I think if some one is a experienced angler he should share his knowledge with the new guys out here . But i have seen in many a cases that these experienced anglers holds a big ego which is of no use to others . Who cares if they are experienced or not if they cant share their experience . Few days ago there was a controversy about catch and release and one of the so called experienced anglers used a lot of rough words out here . May be he did for his ego satisfaction . But i dont touch these characters with a barge pole . I like fishing and will keep on doing that . I am new to this forum for may be only 3/4 months . When i arrived here hardly any one was writing . And slowy people started to come to this site who love fishing . But now a days it seems its a forum for finding fault in others rather than exchanging ideas about fishing . Hence i think its better to keep oneself out this forum . I am a regular visitor of indian angler and i find that forum much better than this one . Here is only dog fights among anglers trying to prove i am the greatest . But those same anglers dont had the courage even to come out for a competetion when i proposed one few days back when the catch and release controversy was going on . I belive peoples attitude wont change , so its better to leave it as the way it is and do your own fishing . regards regards |

Hi GUys, First of all I Would not like to stir up a hornets ( **se) here. THis angling forum as I knew it before used to be a place to hang around and exchange views and tips on sportsfishing. If a person is new to fishing who wants to take up the sport . There are books you could pick up in a book store something called "basic Angling"Beginers book to fishing " I dont know Iam just guessing here. I stayed away from the site for a long time now cause it was getting more and more painful. Guys cutting and pasting pages of irrelavant stuff. Guys talking about species alien to our waters. I mean come on we are on an international forum. It is becoming embarrasing. I do not know how you would take this. This is not ego or may be it is . Have you noticed how experienced anglers are dropping out of this site. Its up to us.There are a few left on this forum . But I dont expect them to hang around for too long before the nasuea hits them Tight lines Jeen |

HI Tayyab, I have just mailed you the entire tide chart for the month of June. it is advisable not to go out fishing this weekend as the waters are expected to be quite rough due to the storm approaching. In case you are going out to Sharjah, do not go alone. Fish dont normally feed when the water is rough or disturbed, but you may get lucky & get the odd fish. However I too may go fishing this weekend to Maktoum as it wont ba as bad as fishing in the sea. Regards, Keyur ________________________________________ Tight Lines, Bent Rods & Screaming Reels |

DEAR JESS , NO HARD FEELINGS MAN . HE HE . GURUJI IS A VERY ELDERLY PERSON . ALTHOUGH I DONT KNW HIS EXACT AGE BUT MUST BE 50 TO 55 . HENCE GIVEN THE ABOVE SITUATION I DONT WANT TO DEMEAN A PERSON OF SUCH AN ELDERLY AGE . BECAUSE WE HAD ENOUGH CONTROVERSY IN THE FORUM ABOUT CATCH AND RELEASE EARLIER . MY SOLE IDEA OF JOINING THIS FORUM IS TO GATHER KNOWLEDGE . BY THE WAY I WROTE EARLIER SCRATCHING THEN LEFT INTENTIONALLY BECAUSE THE WORD WHICH I WANTED TO POST WAS NOT ACCEPTED BY THE SOFTWARE WHICH IS A 5 LETTER WORD . COMING TO THE SOUGHT AFTER FISH . WE ALL KNOW CATFISH HAS GOT A BAD SMELL HENCE ITS NOT A PRIZED FISH IN UAE . BUT I LV CATCHING THEM AS I FEEL ITS THE BEST FIGHTING FISH WHICH IS FOUND IN AND AROUND DUBAI . TO ME THE BEST SOUGHT AFTER FISH WOULD BE A KING FISH OR BULL SHARK WHICH ARE FOUND IN DEEPER WATERS . THTS WHY I WROTE TO DAVID WHERE HE GOT THE KING FISH . CATCHING A KING FISH IS STILL A DREAM TO ME . AND BUDDY I AM VERY NEW TO FISHING MAY BE ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD NOT LIKE AN EXPERIENCED ANGLER LIKE YOU . AND I HARDLY KNOW HOW TO CATCH A FISH . SO I AM ALWAYS EAGER TO LAP UP WHT EVER I GET FROM GENEROUS PEOPLE AROUND ME . THE BOTTOM LINE IS WHAT I AM ASKING PEOPLE AROUND HERE IS TO NOT MAKE ANY REMARKS THAT WOULD HURT ANY ONE FEELINGS. BECAUSE I AM NOT FORCING ANY ONE TO RESPECT ANY ONE HERE . IF SOME ONE DONT LIKE ANY ONE OUT HERE ITS ABSOULETELY OK . BUT THEN MAKING COMMENTS TO MAKE SOME ONE LOOK DOWN UPON . THAT IS NOT DESIRABLE . I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST ONE OF MY BEST FRIEND HEBER LEAVE THIS FORUM BECAUSE OF SOME COMMENTS WHICH WAS REALLY UNCALLED FOR . HOPE EVERY ONE OVER HERE WOULD APPRECIATE MY POINT OF VIEW . AND UNDERSTAND THE MESSAGE I AM TRYING TO PUSH ACROSS . IN THE PAST I KEPT QUITE ABOUT COMMENTS BEING MADE . BUT TODAY I DID RECEIVE A CALL FROM THE PERSON WHO IS BEING TALKED ABOUT AND I DID SAY SORRY TO HIM IF HIS FEELINGS WERE HURT DUE TO ANY ONE OF MY POSTS . IT WAS REALLY NOT MEANT TO BE THAT WAY . FINALLY I WOULD LIKE TO SAY SORRY IN ADVANCE IF ANY OF MY POST HAVE RUBBED SOME ONE IN A WRONG SPOT . I AM A VERY STRAIGHT KIND OF PERSON AND ALWAYS HAVE THE COURAGE TO SAY WHEN AND IF I AM WRONG . I WISH OTHERS DID THAT TOO , ONLY THEN ITS A FAIR GAME . I HAVE NOTICED ONE THING IN DUBAI FISHING CIRCLE . THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ALWYS LIKE TO SAY I AM THE BEST FISHERMAN AND NOURISH A BIG EGO . MY HUMBLE REQUEST TO THEM , PLEASE SHED THIS USELESS EGO AND LETS TALK ABOUT GOOD FISHING . THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO ONE OF THE COMMENTS MADE ON THIS FORUM THAT THERE ARE NO CATFISHES IN DUBAI BY ONE OF THE RESPECTED FORUM MEMBER . IT SHOWS THE IGNORANCE OF THE PERSON WHO TALKS LIKE THAT . HOPE MY THIS POST WILL BURY THE PRESENT CONTROVERSY AND HELP US TO MOVE ON . THNKS FOR THE UNDERSTANDING IN ADVANCE REGARDS |

Hi Pranab, The best place to fish is at the entrance of the corniche. If you are familar with RAK head towards the Hilton Beach Club then turn left at the beauty institute, and make sure you fish right at the end of the pier next to where the water from the power plant comes out. For Kingfish i would advise using live bait which is readily available in the form of small snappers. I would imagine you would get a fair few fish casting storm (or other large lipped lures) in that area although i havent tried them from the shore yet. |

Hey Pranab, Man, you're seriously down with the Mr Ifthiqar Sir Syndrome...... Yeah Guruji must be a good fisherman, but remember pal, there are tons of better fisherman who are out there.... Look around...... Well, I've been reading this forum for over three years now, and I guess I've seen most of you guys. The only person I've met is Heber at the Municipality, again about three years back. Sure, we'll bump into each other sometime..... No hard feelings pal, just let Mr. Ifthiqar Sir be a fisherman.....and am sure, he's a nice guy like you too.. Do post the photos of Guruji PROUDLY HOLDing THE TWO HUGE ONES IN HIS HAND. Take care, Jess Tightlines, bent rods and two huge ones. |

WELL GUYS , I DID NOT BELIVE TILL I SAW GURUJI . HE TOOK OUT ABOUT 10 CAT FISH IN ONLY 2 HOURS TIME FROM JUMERIAH IN A BLOODY HOT DAY WHEN OTHERS WERE LEFT SCRATCHING FOR FISH . I HAVE EVEN PIC OF THAT DAY WHEN HE PROUDLY HOLD THE TWO HUGE ONES IN HIS HAND BUT UNFORTUNATELY ITS AT MY HOUSE . WILL TRY TO POST IT THIS AFTERNOON . ONE DAY I WAS AT HIS HOUSE ALONG WITH OMAR LISTENING TO HIS FISHING FORKLORE . AS PER HIS SONS WORD KHURRAM HE CAN LITERALLY SMELL BARRACUDA IF ITS NEAR IN THE WATER . THIS MAN HAS A RECORD OF CATCHING ALONG IN A GROUP OF 72 BARRACUDAS IN A DAY . I HAVE NOT CAUGHT THAT MUCH IN THIS WHOLE SEASON . JESS WILL STILL QUSTION THIS MANS GOLDEN EXPERIENCE . I THINK I SHOULD MAKE U MEET THIS MAN WHOS LIFE IS FISHING . THE FIRST DAY I WENT TO HIS HOUSE HE SHOWED ME HIS TACKLE WARE HOUSE . THERE WERE ABOUT 40 USED REELS . 35 FISHING RODS AROUND 5 UNOPENED . THIS MAN HAS CAUGHT GUITAR SHARK OR SAND SHARK LAST YEAR AND RELEASED IT BECAUSE HE NEVER KNEW ITS A SOUGHT AFTER FISH IN UAE .BESIDES THIS HE CAN PICK UP ANY ADAMANT STING RAY WHEN IT SITS DOWN ON THE SAND AT ON THE SEA BED . JESS I THINK I SHOULD FIX UP A MEETING BETWEEN YOU AND HIM . MAY BE THEN YOU WILL BELIVE . SEEING IS BELEVING JESS . I AM SURE U WILL BE GLAD TO MEET AND SHARE HIS EXPERIENCE . REGARDS |

Hey, Guys I have been following the forum on and off for a couple years now and have really enjoyed reading your posts. Anyways I thought i would let you know i bought a couple fishing items off souq.com and thought i would test them out in RAK this morning. To cut a long story short I caught 1 barracuda and 1 kingfish neither fish was paticularly large about 2-3kg but still a highly successful outing. |
