Subject: Fishing for Halibut & Kings in Seward
There has been great fishing in Seward so far this year. Halibut have been very abundant with plenty of fish in the 20 to 60 pound range with some really big ones( to 245 pounds so far) have been taken as well. The local fleet hs been fishing from 12 to 60 miles out. In water that is 60 to 425 feet deep and have been finding fish in most of the usually places. Several charters have been targeting local feed King Salmon with remarkable success. The first Coho Salmon of the season was caught last week. We are expecting an outstanding run this year. |

Subject: Fishing for Halbut in September in Seward
the weather has moderated and fishing remains very good. Today Captain Nik Ranta on the Crackerjack caught 10 halibut from 35 to 127 pounds in 273' of water using herring and salmon belly strips. Fishng remains strong with only a few weeks left in our season. The snow line is getting lower each day and tempertures are dipping inot the 30's at night. Shore fisherman are finding a surprising late run of Coho Salmon. Schools of these fish are being found at the top of the incoming tide along the edge of town. |

Subject: Fishing in Resurrection Bay and the Gulf of Alaska
Most fishing today was limited to the bay area due to high winds and rough seas. Good catches of smaller halibut were achieved by those who stuck it out! |
