Hey Guys, You are becoming crazy over tackle! Go out there and start catching fish with whatever you have! Remember, it is not the tackle that catches fish, it is you, so use your skills and beat the hell out of those darned fish! Cheers, Ijlal |

Saltiga 6500 Dog Fight....Saltiga 6500 Dog Fight...Saltiga 6500 Dog Fight.... ALL Together now..... POOOOOOOF! Sorry guys, I was "sleep typing"....! Ok, Now back to the gear ratio. Higher gear ratio e.g 6.2:1 would mean faster line retrieve. Lower gear ratio e.g 4.2:1 would mean slower line retrieve. Slower line retrieving reel will have better torque thus will make reeling in higher load much easier (feels lighter) than that using the higher ratio reel. IF Jigging is your game, go for slower ratio as the action is mainly caused by the rod. IF popping is your game, then the faster, higher ratio reel will be best. Both can be used the other way round BUT might be abit strenaous as compared as having the proper reel. BEST to have one of each!..he..he..he.. OMG.......I am getting my self in trouble now.....I might ALSO have to pick up a Stella after all! lol!!!!!!!! DANG! Cheers! |

Hey guys , Just had a nice chat with ijlal over phone about gear ratios . It was very informative and would like others also to contribute in the forum on the topic . If you have a big fish on the line like tuna or GT which kind of spinning gear ratio would you opt . Faster one or slower ratio . Put your comments for people like me to learn more and many more who are new to serious fishing tackle . With regards pranab 0506789546 |

Dear abdul , Go for the saltiga , because i cant afford it he he . Must change job before i can go for it . Hence i will settle for the stella . In that case although a small fishing community in dubai no one can say we dont have the proper equipment . There would be 525 chua , kit , 7HT & 950 ss penn, abdul saltiga 6500 dog fight , and i am saving money for two reels now stella and isidai . I think people around the world will laugh these buggers hardly can catch fish only talking about expensive tackle . Ohh i forgot ijlal with his abu 6500 and moh with his shimano trinadad and last but not the least kim with his sphero . We have quite a team it seems . By the way the worst offender is chua . He owns 2 accurate , 2 abu , 1 525,and shimono i think he is the offical dealer he has got so many of them . No doubt chua deserve the stong kick in the back and he is ought to fly across makthoum . None of us dare go near chua because this bugger ordered blanks worth 29000 . God if i get this kind of money i better buy a small boat for my fishing buddies. My answer to all of them who said i need fish . I just want my isidai quitely sitting on top of my boat rod romancing the blueish green water of the arabian penensular . Thats the dream i am dreaming all day and night . With regards pranab 0506789546 |

I agree its very hard when you lose you heart for someone/something. All the best. Hi Ijlal...hope you're speeding up your healing. Take rest and get alright soon. We'll keep you in our Prayers buddy. Regards, Ronald |

Pranab/Chua, I am as good as gone case as well. Just can't seem to get out of it....even the rehabilitation centre is not willing to accept me now. This is what is known as "fish positive"! Maybe a urine test can confirm it once and for all!!!!!!! Just too deep to get out of the whole thing now! |

Oh boy...oh boy....oh boy! I am having sleepless nights now...........I had just fallen in love with 2...yes TWO spinners. The lovely (but very deceiving) Shimano Stella 20000PG and the (very mean looking) Daiwa Saltiga 6500 Dog Fight. Could someone please help me to choose between these two..........as I will be picking either one during my short holiday back to Brunei....NEXT WEEK! Cheers! |

Only if the reel sits on top of my boat road fish or no fish i dont mind . I would just like to romance with the colour of the reel . He he i am a gone case now . regards pranab 0506789546 |

Pranab, I think, apart from seeing the Psychiatrist we both need to see a banker as well, and eventually flying across the bridge at the end of the day, whether it is right or wrong? I choose Garhood, the span is wider, hopefully to land on the water instead of the hard desert sand! Ouch! You have some banker friends to recommend? Some kind of a friend you have...sorry mates to distort the subject of the house as we are abit off. Please contine with the order after this..a little soapy here. Thousand apologies! |

Dear chua , You did not help your friend . Now giving me chillies and salt . You tell me its always my dream to make Ishidai Z sit on top of my jigging master . He he this one u did not know . Its a hidden dream . By the way did not test the zippie as i returned home around 12.30 from your house . My wife slept and i did not have dinner even . She was so mad she locked the freezer . And i dare not wake her up . You are correct ISHIDAI Z is a disease which has gripped us both . And you did not give me the loan even . What kind of a friend are you . Anyways bottom line is we are both flying across makhtoum bridge because both of them will kick us . By the way chua i decided i want red colour which you are using on the surf rod as base colour and the last fish logo with shades to be in silver . Would leave the zippie with you when you are free. regards pranab 0506789546 |

Hello Pranab, Regards the death in the family - I profer my deep sympathy and commiseration. Death, although the only certainty of life, in my view, summons the basic "humaness" of man and can bring together those of us left behind with compassion, solidarty, understanding and strength. Please extend my sentiments to the rest of your family too... Dai |

Hotttdayyyum Seaexplorer!!! I'm simply FLOORED man! Mate, your marine/maritime report etc was just awesome!! Most interesting reading.. Humm
it read like a detail culled from the records of some War Planning Committee preparing for a major combat operation or naval encounter with some formidable enemy! Given time I sure you could provide even the hight, weight, visa status and the nationality of the fish itself. Have you considered a military career as a combat operations strategist? Heheheehehe. Just jokin mano! Take it lightly. Real cool information man. What was that website again pls? I, for my part though, just accompanied Hamza (the friend working at the Zabeel palace I was telling you bout) with our humble gear to the creek and caught about 4 kgs of Badha and later netted 37 super crabs. Beauties. Hello Ijilal Bro!! Sorry didn't call you during the w/end. And sorry also to Abdul and Adam. Guys, I will try to do so sometime today. Got a pretty hectic schedule besides the Sunday morning blues ya know. Ciao for now

Hi kim , Sorry buddy actually i get fed at times how people fight with each other here . Thats why i was not writing . I know there are atleast 300 members who watch the forum but dont write on it scared they will end up in the dog fight that goes on over here . As this is a free forum i dont try to dare ask any one why are you guys fighting . Any ways keyur also asked before weekend to organise me for a boat trip for the his friends most of them belong to fishemirates . I told him its not possible because of the weather . I also had a death in my family but that was the real reason for not organising the trip . A rough sea is like a monster . We should take care before we venture out . Dylan Thanks for your post. The desert safari was great thanks pal, nothing like sand in your meal afterwards to really grind those teeth lol......... the belly dancing was good and to be honest i should have waited before shaking my thang as i had terrible indegestion afterwards but the crowd seemed to like it....no seriously, the belly dancer was not good at all. There was a group of local teenagers there that got up and danced and were excellent, they really showed the real belly dancer up!! I sat back and smoked my apple shisha and was quite content. the desert is a beautiful place at night and living in cities all my life you forget that there are stars and moons etc up there because they are hidden from all the concrete jungle... Anyway, better not go on to much about non fishing activies but good to chat, glad you got the vcard with Ijlal's details as i forgot to call you back to see if it went through ok. Hope you enjoyed the crabs(the ocean living ones .....) Adam |

Udup...bit of advice - Mind your business and keep out of this. I have no axe to grind with you. So please - just stay out of my dialogue with nancy_Montes. Its a request. And you claiming to be young etc dont cut any mustard. And your not a child. Even at your age, you are, in all counts, an adult. So no big deal mate. Guys of your age are out there fighting wars and shedding blood, winning olympic golds, becoming billionairs, getting married, having children, climbing everest, practicing medicine, becoming tennis champions etc etc. So get with it - youre an adult just like all of us. I hope this will be the end of our discussion on this matter and henceforth any interaction we have on this forum will have NO REFERENCE to my communicatiOn with Jess_Montes. This is between him/her and me. so let it stay that way. Goodbye and have a nice life. And keep fishing if you must. And by the way, just for you info, since no one has seen this jacka$$ sicko called Jess - I have written to the administrators of this web site to track the IP address of this chaps postings. And very soon I'll be getting a thread on exactly where this sick byitch has been posting his venomous messages from - his location and his PC - even if its a CyberCafe. And trust me, it wont be a pleasent experience for him/her when I get that. Bye for now. |

Adam, nice of you to call me buddy. Twas a pleasure mate. Hope you had a good Safari. Its great experience - no matter how many times you do it. And hope you did do something bout the grand finale - "the belly dancer" I mean. Smethng about those gorgeous, sinuous hips gyrating and twisting with such grace and flow makes me wanna go back for more. I personally think its the best dance regime in the world. I hope I dont get any verbal dysentry for breaking the ostensible cardinal rule of "STRICTLY FISHING" stuff and discussing belly dancing instead. Hehehe. Especially from that silly psycho pastry called Jessy_Nancy_Montes and HER supporters. For me the forum maybe bout fishing - but the objective is to meet like minded people and engage in meanfull contact and relationship. Make friends through a common interests. Like I do on hunting forums or other discussion groups I associate with. Fishing, perse, is just a platform upon which we build bonds. But some people are of the opinion its an egregious sin to discuss anything other than "fish" in this forum. Which I think is ridiculous. Bye for now buddy. Will keep ya posted from time to time. |

Syed, it was great speaking with you buddy...and good to know youre in safe hands too, and recovering well. couldnt have you any other way. And you're being far to modest by refusing to acknowledge that you ARE the maestro in this forum. You see, anyone with half a rod and a coupla spare bolts or nuts tied to a few meters of nylon can catch fish. That not the point. Didnt someone catch some barracuda using #8 line the other day? Thats the exception...NOT THE RULE. The rule is "consistency" and "knowledge" that can be ACTIONED. ITS THE KNOWLEDGE - AND EXPERIENCE (PROGRESSIVE)that sets u apart. By "progressive experience I mean leanear and not static or verticle. Its like THERE ARE GUYS WITH 20 YEARS'S EXPERIENCE AND THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE ONE YEAR'S EXPERIENCE REPEATED 20 TIMES. The latter is bullcrap. So it dont really matter how much fish you catch on any given day - its the direction and energy you bring to the expedition that counts. I rest my case. have a nice day and make sure you treat that leg of yours very kindly. Technically it belongs to me too..hehheehehehehe. Its my investment into the fishing future. |

it really disgusts me to see what this forum is coming to.full grown adults acting like retards.there's a fine line between poking fun and insulting someone and being half of your age even i understand that.i really cant believe you're egotistic and opinionated enough to believe that you actually have the right to tirade against this guy like there's no tommorow.given he's a jackass, that doesnt give you the right act like one ass well.seriously man grow up and get a life. just my opinion.what you gonna do?call me a girl? |

Tayyab, At the port the you will have: HIGH WATER MARK: 2.7 METRES AT 0830 HRS LOW WATER MARK: 1.0 METRES AT 1435 HRS As you would be traveling further away from port towards NW, add a few (5 - 10) minutes to above figures. Best of luck! Ijlal |

Dylan Dear, You are such a pleasure to be in company of, I just couldn't contemplate why you have been so hostile lately! Come on buddy, let's not throw flames out our mouths when we could so easily put a smile on someone's face! There already is so much pain in this world to allow hatred any part in our lives. It was a great fishing trip last Friday, with everybody contributing his share; all teamwork and nobody deserves to be singled out. I may have caught the biggest fish of the day but it was not really all that big. Nevertheless, it did give a good fight on the light rod I was using. You may also remember, I hadn't caught a single fish more than half way into the trip! The reason being I had been after the 'the big one' I never got. Maybe you did not notice, but I had discarded the heavier tackle by the time I got the grouper. Everybody was having fun so I finally pulled out my lighter rod and put on the only Sabiki rig I had, used the same squid you all were using as bait and started to try my luck. I am not a maestro as you have called me but just have had more exposure to this sort of fishing than most of you. There, however, is a downside of being the more experienced fisherman within a group, as you feel, rightly or wrongly, everybody has his/her eyes upon you. As such, I had been praying silently to God to grant me a decent fish, and He heard my prayers and gave me the hamour but on the same rig all were using. Whatever opinion you all may have about me, I am really a very humble person deep down. I believe in God's providence rather than my own skills and whenever I have a fish of any significance on, I always pray silently, "O'God, please do not let this one get away from me, please grant it to me..." So, dear friend, I enjoyed being in your company as well as everybody elses, and I am sure so did everybody else. The abundance of fish only made the party more colourful, it was actually the team that made it a success. I can say from experience no one person catches the most or the biggest fish every single outing, so we must not resort to belittling a friend if on a particular day his luck has been out. Similarly, if fish is to be kept, then it should be divided equally amongst all without prejudice to who caught how many! I know none of you meant to be mean, and you have exchanged olive trees already! I just wanted to post anyhow as I missed all the fun , and to let you all know how thankful I am for the wonderful company that day. Thanks, Ijlal |

Pranab, I thought Knotica is owned by someone else....who is a friend of Abbas. Abbas shop is BARACCUDA. As for the poppers, what are you talking about UNABLE to find any big ones here????? Only the choices are limited. Only the "Jet Poppers" from Williamson and few more from HALCO. Additionally, have got 03 piece of "custom" hand-made wooden poppers with me.......given the right price...he..he..he......will sell them to you! Cheers! |

Things sometimes come to happen when one means well, no matter if that person is able to complete what he intended to do; it all depends on intentions. Adam, you tried to get me a fishing magazine but were unable to find one. Then Pranab, you visited me and I told you about Adam's visit. Thenceforth you also wanted to send me one when you could. I appealed to both of you I did not need one, but you had the best intentions anyhow. Guess what happened a day later? Our PRO visited the hospital and had some mail for me: A credit card statement and a package from Aramex. When I opened the package, I was baffled to find within the April issue of Saltwater Sportsman! It was after some time I realized I had once registered online for three free copies of the magazine and given my Aramex Shop 'n' ship US Box number as address. To me it is the mag you both wanted to give to me! Cheers, Ijlal |

Dear jess , Correct me if i am wrong . I have been to this lima area . But just to get a correct location the lima village which you are mentioning is it before the lima rock . Or is it parrelel to lima rock . I have been in a cove which also has a village up in the mountains . But this is just before the lima rock . What i am trying to get at is the one i saw or its just near the lima rock on the coast . Your guidance will be highly appreciated . I am planning for a trip there soon when the water is warm and not too hot . I know that is the best time from the fisherman of that area . Yes you are correct the yuzuri poppers which are avail able here are smaller ones . And that too only one store in dubai has got it . I asked the owner of knotica abbas and he said he will try to get them in next shipment which is expected 1 month from now . So have to try to get at least 2 poppers what you mentioned may be from brunei where abdul is going shortly . But any ways thanks for your inputs i do appreciate it . with regards pranab 0506789546 |

Pranab, The GT I fished off Musandam was couple of years ago. Closer to the rocks off Lima village. Stop at half an hour intervals and keep trying. You can either use stickbaits or poppers. I used the Yozuri Surface bull poppers..... very effective ones... Don't know if you get them in Dubai and a 100lb line which broke off once. The fish can take you by surprise and you need to experiment what line and gear suits you. I use swivels to prevent line twists. I have lost most of the fights, landing a very small percentage of hits. Didn't use a GPS so cannot give you exact co-ordinates. The best months to fish GT are now when the water is not too hot. Cheers Jess |

Hello Friends, I came home this evening and after having restored some wind in me, couldn't resist the temptation of opening this site and going through all that has transpired during my absence. There are lots of comments popping up in my mind but right now I will restrict myself just to thanking you all for the care you have shown about my unfortunate injury, on this forum or by calling me directly. So many people called me that I may have forgotten a name or two, so without taking names, thank you pals for you concerns and well-wishings! Thanks to you Pranab, for driving all the way from Dubai to see me; it is the spirit that brought you here, not the things you wanted to bring for me that has a special place in my heart! ...and Adam, my brother, the pain you took in looking after me so sincerely... please remember you will always be cherished somewhere deep inside me forever! Then there is my dear friend Shahzad, who was always there each morning with delicious traditional breakfast prepared by his wife, even though he had to travel all the way to Sharjah every single day and come back home late at night after a strenuous day at work! There are also those friends I would not name as they have nothing to do with fishing except wait for the fish larder to be refilled after I returned from a successful day's fishing trip ...stood by me day in and day out! I have never been lonely all this time. Ah, what a blessing of God to have so many loving friends! Guys, I broke two of my bones joining the right leg's knee and ankle joints , have had an operation with metallic plates installed within. Am currently on crutches, for probably three months, but rest assured as soon as I am able to walk around without feeling strain, you would find me sitting out on weekend evenings with Adam by the Mina Zayed Quay-side, crutches or whatever! God bless! Ijlal |

There's only one way Jessy_Tessy_nano, the lonely boy with only his imaginery friends can catch GT Pranab. He dives into the water, lowers his pants and tries to use his tiny weeny dI(k as bait. But the GT see the tiny disinfranchised pweeweewinkie of Nancy_Jess_Tessy and swim away thinking its DIET FOOD....BWWWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (evil laugh) THATS WHY Mr. PeeweeWinkle_Jessy_Tessy_Nancy hasnt got any GT on RECORD - except in the convoluted imaginations of his decomposing brain. Kim...theres very lil I can say on this forum to put things right bnetween us without compromising the forum itslef and its protocol. But I do feel awfull bout my vitriolic postings and . Guess sentiments and emotions got a lil out of hand. I not only offer you an olive branch - i offer you an olive tree and a whole can of olives - deseeded and stuffed with pimentos. Hehehehe. As i told Pranab and Abdul - there is only one content for this forum - "water". And one context - "love for fishing" And one objective - "to pursue the sport". And one subject - the "fish itself". But with all sincerity, regardless of how I personally felt bout your response to the fantastic trip we did or your subsequent postings - i was was completely out of order in using the forum to voice my reservations against you. Please accept my apologies. And I tender the same to all well meaning members of this forum. Bye for now... PEEWEE SIGNING OFF |

YES jess nano_tess...we all have our place booked close to the light even before we are born - but by the likes and sounds of you - YOUR PLACE WAS BOOKED RIGHT INSIDE THE AMNIOTIC SAC....and the only palausible reason I can conjure up for you to have missed that watery grave in the "afore mentioned" amniotic sac was that YOU WAS $HAT OUT. Your highly disturbed, disconcerted, disconnected, manic and frenzied verbal diarrhoea convinces me you musta have had a terrible nanny. Was it a MALE nanny? HeHeHe. By the way PEEWEE sends his regards to you and says he's booked you a space right next to him and says he has interesting plans for you with his quils. Dear kim , I am never offended by any ones comments on the forum . Dubai is a stress ful city . And we are all humans . I allways tell every one that if you extend yourself true friendship the opposite person will understand you one day or other . You might have noticed so many people say so many things but i am always unmoved . Because if i had been reacting this forum would have been dead a long time ago . There is a lot of controversy earlier this forum or that forum . In this context i liked a very nice word spoken by di . he told me pranab WATER IS THE FORUM . HAPPINESS IS OUR OBJECTIVE AND FISH IS OUR RESOURCE . WE MUST CONSERVE IT . A man who can say these kind of comments knowing him closely i knw he will take the your olive branch . Di is hard from outside as he is frm defence . I have mixed with him he is a nice person and you will see in long run he will be your best friend. So dont worry buddy be happy . Dear Pranab, You really are a very open-minded guy. I think, before anything, I have to hand you over an olive branch. You may be hurt from some of my postings but as you might understand fully, what I tried to tell you was just one thing - to make matters clear without any distortion (or misleading). Anyway, I am sorry if I have offended you somehow. Hope you to accept my sincere appology. Hey Dylan, I accept Pranab's suggestion. Here is my olive branch for you. In this forum, everybody calls one another a fishing FRIEND. Between friends, there can always be troubles, misunderstandings, quarrels, etc and those problems tend to be forgotten soon. Hope the one that we have had to be the same. Here is my hand, buddy. Are you going to hold it and shake or not? Regards, Si Kim |

When i asked what can i get him as i did not carry anything and planned to get it frm auh ijlal told me every thing is excess with him there . And the best part listen now , adam has been hunting for a fishing magazine for ijlal . People like adam are rare . I decided to giv the fishing mag that abdul gv me to ijlal when we visit him next time . Ijlal being such a nice person tried to thank me for visiting him . I told him in return i should not be thanked . Because i am carrying wishes of so many forum members who wantd to meet him and are praying for his recovery . So i am just like a boque of flower with each flower from each friend . I told him people from both the forum fish reports and ians forum fish emirates have passedon their good wishes and prayer to him . I pray to god for ijlals speedy recovery because we need this experienced fisherman to me always among us to guide us . Finally to finish ijlal told me he is over whelmed by the amount of calls he got form both the forum members . I am happy i am associated wtih these two lovely forums . Yo! Adam, Welcome to the forum, buddy. How is life (or worklife rather)? Was very shocked to hear about Syed. Anyway, praying for his speedy recovery and will try to pay him a visit when time (hectic work schedule) permits. Will keep you posted if there is any such "fishing shoot-out" in the near future. Pass my salam to Syed if you see him. Cheers! |

Hey you guys!! Apologies for my lack of commincado since we last met!! I still have the fond memories of our day out totgether and it made relaize what a wonderful world we live in with us all being from different parts of the globe yet we all got on so well despite all the crap that goes on and what the media would like us all to believe, GOD BLESS EVERYONE MAN!! Anyway onto more important things, brother Syed is doing well and in good spirits, i won't go into details about the accident as it would take all day to write about it and i'm sat here looking at a hot plate of pasta and chicken summing up whethr to write more or eat......u guessed it, eating has won and i'm going now. I took Syed some food and essentials like toothbrush/pate etc and will be going after my dinner(it's getting cold) to see him again with some food. The hospital is like a 5-7 minute walk from where i live so rest assured i'll visit and call on him daily until he is discharged. Right, can't stand it any longer i need to eat!! Let me know when the next trip is setting sail man...I need to catch that Bl**dy bara that got away ......lol Best regards. Adam |

Dear Amir, Hello to you from all of us.... Regards your request on our modes operandi bout the fishing I wish I could make it out to be some major technical achievement. But it was not. We WERE THERE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME. PERIOD. Rest was all up to providence and God. My own line, I used bout 40 gms weight coz the under tow was pretty strong although there was not much surface wind. I tied one hook bout 9 inches from the sinker and another bout 1.5 ft from the sinker. The latter got NOTHING. All the fish I got was from the bottom. And surprisingly, all the Sheri and even the barracuda had sand and silt in their intestines. Which means, for some strange reason, they were all feeding right deep down. The depth of the ocean was bout 30/40 feet. Mucch deeper than in ADB. Guess thats coz in Dubai they dredge the floor of the ocean to enable ships and other assorted sea going vessels to come to shore or the dry docks. The consistent bait I used was -----hold your breath ----SQUID. Buggers were going crazy on this stuff. Although we had sardines and shrimp it was the squid that did the trick for me. Syed had a lotta sardines. In fact he caught the big hammour chap with sardine. Also Pranab, he yanked a Sheri bout a foot long but by the time he decked it it was bitten in half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Some major predator was under there buddy. The Sheri was still flapping its gills and blinking its eyes even though half its body was bitten off. That was really something. Pranab can tell you more. Ijlal and Pranab and Mohd tried jigging for this big bugger. But he evaded us. Next time I hope. Hhahahaha. The trevally I roped did give me a little fight. But nothing like the legend it has on its head. It was kinda easy. But once home upper neck and lads and rib cage was burning like hell with all the effort of the day But twas delicious pain. Bye for now brother. Looking forward to meeting you guys in Mussandam. Have to leave it up to Captain Nemo (Pranab) to organize it all and gimme a shout. But then you know we have KINGPINS with us like Syed Ijlal, Pranab, Abdul and Mohd etc...so I guess we could even come out with a tuna from a manhole!!! hahahhaahahha. Call me anytime you're in Dubai buddy 050 2133701. God Bless |
