Panama City fishing in the Bay the weekend of July 23rd was slow how ever I did have some luck trolling with some plugs 8" 25' + divers. I caught several grouper and red fish. The only keepers was one 24.5" grouper and one 34 inch ling. You never know, the only thing you can count on is if you don't have a line in the water your not catching anything. GOOD LUCK! |

Jacks are hitting hard on the bridge spans HARD!! Several 30+ pounders. Snapper and Grouper have run deep. Look for the 125+ water and use live bait or jigs. The storm and blown in a lot of weed lines holding small dolphin. Just pull up grab a hand full of weeds and look for life. Some larger dolphin being caught just off weed lines but very hit or miss. Good luck and remember on keep what you can eat in 1 month. Keeps fish around for our kids and grandkids. |

Captain Dinsmore- Just got back from memorial day fishing we fished saturday and sunday and it was ruff. The Snapper, grouper, and amberjack were on fire. Saturday we limited out on snapper caught 2 grouper 3 kings with one being around 25 pounds a true smoker!!! We mixed in some trigger fish vermillion snapper and white snapper. All of this with just 2 people aboard. Sunday same story ruff and great fishing we limited out on amberjack with one being and abosolute monster in the 40 pound range limited out on snapper and caught 5 beautiful grouper the trick is live bait. hardtails for amberjack cigar minnows for snapper and grouper and squirrel fish for grouper also. we only had to go about 100 feet of water but we were off 18 miles so we headed one way out of the cut but thats a little private. email me if you have any questions dinz5@bellsouth.net |

Absolutely agree about the amberjack. The bridge spans seem to be loaded with good sized jacks. I was fishing some bridge spans the last week in April. We had 5 people on the boat and we caught our limit in about 15 minutes, with only 2 being too short. I couldnt find any hardtails but menhaden was just the ticket. I used 100 lb. test leaders and was even broken off twice! Going back to Panama City the week of June 6th and after seeing Capt. Dinsmore's post, I am really looking forard to trying them again. Please feel free to email any questions. Craig txflr20@hotmail.com |

Captain Dinsmore- The amberjack are plentiful just try catching some hard tails before you head out drop them on any wreck or bridge span and hold on. try 8 ounces of lead with a 6 foot 100 pound leader. These bad boys dont slouch the pull pull and pull some more dont forget they are 28 inches at the fork to keep. 50 pound stiff stand up gear will do it. The snapper are headed deeper and deeper so try 80 foot or more of water to get in to some big boys live cigar minnows will work the best. Grouper are hitting pretty well large live baits work best and keep them off the bottom as quick as possible because the will put you in the wreck. We have caught 2 jew fish this year they are coming back to plz if you catch one pook a hole in his throat and anus to help equilize them so they can live. Best of luck. Email me if you have ne questions. dinz5@bellsouth.net |

Are the kings running at the Panama City Beach Pier, I was there thre years ago and on Easter Sunday the Kings started running at 3am and you couldn't beat them off. There were three of us that had 6 fish that started at 20lbs to 35lbs |

Subject: Wahoo,dolphin,Kings
When are the Wahoo,Dolphin, and Kings going to start showing up. I thought this past weekend we would have been able to catch some kings trolling and ended up not even getting a hit. We tried to find some kind of a weed line, but I guess they were further out. My guess is we proably tried for Kings too early. |

Subject: Amberjack & Grouper!!
Amberjacks from 5 to 30 lbs. are thick on nearshore wrecks and any color jig or spoon will get you hooked up on every cast. On calm days for you fly casters they will readily take poppers, deceivers, or any other baitfish imitation. The other star in the show is gag grouper. Go out to a good offshore wreck or natural reef in 120' of water or more where you are marking some fish and drop down a gold hook rig that is baited with squid. Slowly jig this rig up and down until it feels heavy. Bring it up and it should be full of grunts and squirrel fish. Tail hook one of these on a grouper rig and send it back down. If there are any big grouper around hang on and be ready to muscle it up off and away from the bottom to prevent it from cutting your line on the coral. The next step is deciding between grilled or fried. If you are looking to pick a fight with a big fish now is the time and Panama City Beach is the place. |
