Boat Chain

Fishreports.net and Boaters World offers Boat Chains.

The primary use of chains on boats is for anchor applications.

The larger the boat, the more chain length is desired in the anchor line.

Chain weight keeps the anchor flukes in the optimal position for holding on the bottom surface.

Tides and winds change during mooring and the different forces can sometimes dislodge anchors.

The practice of using chains next to the anchor body is a time proven method to improve holding power of the anchor.

At the point of connection between chain and anchor rope, swivels are sometimes used to prevent twisting of the anchor rope and chain.

Anchor chains designed for the link between the anchor and anchor rope come in prefabricated sizes.

One advantage of these products is that these chains are coated in polymers which serve two functions. For one, the coating reduces corrosion, and the other advantage is that the polymer prevents scratches to the boat deck surfaces.

WindlassesChain accessories include shackles, double connectors, anchor rollers, windlasses/winches, rope to chain rodes, and ropes.

Shackles and double swivels allow connecting anchor rope to chain.

The swivels prevent twisting of anchor line.

Anchor rollers give the ability to more easily raise and lower anchor line and to prevent damage to boat surfaces from anchor contact.

Windlasses and winches provide assisted mechanical means for lowering and raising anchors and for keeping anchors from damaging boat surfaces.

Anchor lines are available in many diameters and strength categories depending on the size of the boat.
