New York Angler Does It Again !
Dania Beach, Florida, U.S.A.¾The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) has announced the approval of a new New York State line class record on 4-lb test line. The record largemouth bass was caught in Little York Lake.
Jeffrey S. Weibly of Cortland, New York caught his 4-lb line class record largemouth bass on July 20, 2000, which weighed 4 lb 7 oz breaking his own record of 2 lb 6 oz caught June 12, 2000. In addition to this record, Jeffrey has the 12-lb and 20-lb New York State line class records for largemouth bass, as well as the 4-lb, 12- lb and 20- lb line class New York State records for walleye. Mr. Weibly also holds the 12-lb line class record for pike.
There are still 8 vacant New York State freshwater line class records remaining in the 4, 12, and 20-lb categories. A complete list of all 50 state freshwater line class records and the species recognized in each state is available free from IGFA. There is no fee for IGFA members to submit state record applications. Non members are charged an application fee of $35, which includes all processing and administrative costs, a state record certificate and a one-year membership in IGFA.
The IGFA State Line Class Record Program is separate from each state’s all-tackle record program, where rules vary from state to state. Anglers are allowed to release their potential record catches alive after weighing, photographing and measuring their catches.
The IGFA New York State Freshwater Record Program is sponsored by SAMPOâ, Inc., of Barneveld, New York, a worldwide leader in the manufacturing and distribution of ball bearing swivels, terminal tackle, gaffs, rod belts, fishing harnesses and fishing accessories.
