The Santee Cooper Lakes are rising fast with all the rain water from up state last week. Water temps came up as well. We are killing the fish in 25-50 foot of water on cut shad. We have gotten all our limit fish just about everyday with numbers of fish ranging from in the 20-40 lb range. We just caught and released a 96.4 lb blue catfish while filming the TV Show “What a Catch”. It is on film and you can see it on www.youtube.com and search “Kathryn Maroun” to see the video. The winter fishing is some of the best of the year. Come and get some! Phone; (803) 372-1398

We are catching high numbers of fish of all sizes on Lake Moultrie. Sizes ranging from your salt and pepper cats to the monster cats. We have our 18th World Record pending right now with the IGFA. Santee is alive and well with big fish! Lake Marion is giving up real nice fish in the daytime fishing with not as high of numbers of fish as Moultrie.

Today was another great day on the lakes with lots of missed bites and several keepers over 5 lbs each. The bass are down deep, so I jigged and caught most of my fish in the middle of the lake. Late this evening, we caught our limit of crappie on pink bubble gum jigs. We had some slabs over a pound each. What a day in lake moultrie out from Angels landing.

Caught a couple of nice bass today on small crankbaits on the upper lake. Missed several good bites on plastic baits. The warmer temps have turned the bass on near the pre spawn areas.

The bass fishing has been great this December here at Santee. The fish are holding around dropoffs. Crankbaits and Carolina rigs have been our bets producers. The fish have been holding on the drop when feeding and tight to adjacent cover the rest of the time. We have been dragging the carolina rig up the drop to catch the fish. The bite is light but they still have lots of spunk left in them with the water temps. in the low 50's. When they have moved into the cover we are taking them on crankbaits and also have caught a few of them on a slow rolling spinnerbait. I beleive they are hiiting these baits on reaction alone. We have been catching multiple fish from the same area so they are grouped up together.

The catfish have just about finished spawning so they are moving to deeper water. We will start drifting for them soon. Still catching nice numbers though.
