Water temps are ranging from 78-83 and the lake is high and beginning to fall.
There is a lot of current in the lake right now so use your current breaks like weedbeds, islands, creek or boat lane crossings, even single trees to find bass. In the open water areas like boat lanes and creeks try using crankbaits in both lipless and diving models in these areas.
Fishing the cypress with a jig or worm is working good also. Try concentrating on the down current side. With the cloudy days right now the sun is not much of a factor. Colors of black/blue, black/green, or watermelon are good choices.
Flukes, frogs, and senko type baits are always good choices in the vegetation most anywhere on Caddo this time of the year no matter what the water conditions.

Water temps are ranging from 78-85 and the lake is at normal levels but rising with recent rains.
Early in the day small topwaters like pop r's and torpedo's fished along the boat docks in the river channel above Uncertain have been working well. With the water on the rise try fishing a white/chartreuse or white/blue spinnerbait in the current around the cypress and grassbeds.
Most of our bites have been coming on dark colored senko and fluke type baits fished in and over the grass.
Weedless frogs over the heavy vegetation and flukes and worms around the scattered vegetation have worked over the past few weeks also.
White bass are running in the Buzzards Bay and Little Green Break areas and can be caught using rattletraps and spinnerbaits in colors of white or chrome.

Water temps are ranging from 75-82 and the lake is at normal levels.
Most of our bites have been coming on dark colored senko type baits fished on the cypress in 1-3 ft. of water. V&M Hightails and brushhogs are still catching some decent bass also.
Weedless frogs over the heavy vegetation and flukes and worms around the scatttered vegetation have worked well over the past couple of days also.
Bream are still ganged up in the cypress thickets using crickets and red worms.

The water temps have dropped about 16 degrees from 72 to 56 in the mornings in the past 36-48 hrs with the cold arctic blast that has pushed through. The lake is a few inches high and stable.
The water should warm back this week with the warmer temps on the way. Most of our fish over the past few days have been coming on light colored spinnerbaits and swimjigs fished around the shallow cypress and vegetation mix.
Junebug, watermelon, and redbug colored lizards and senko type baits are working on the cypress also. The vegetation like pads and hydrilla are beginning to top out on the lake so get your flukes, frogs, and buzzbaits ready because once the water warms the topwater bite should be hot for the next couple of months.

The lake is slowly falling and is at about 168.96 as of today, normal pool is 168.50. Water temps are ranging from 58-67 degrees and most of the lake looks good.
There was a 12.50 weighed in monday.
Bass are good on a variety of lures like rattletraps and Cyclone Lightnin' Blades over the open water grass are producing and many times you may find the bass(males) stacked in these areas. Some good Trap colors to try are tequila, red, or shad colors in the stained water.
A V&M Super Hightail around the cypress in colors of watermelon, black/blue, or black/red have been catching some good sized bass when fished in 4-6 ft. of water. Watermelon flukes like the V&M Pork Shad fished over the open grass is picking up some decent bass also.

The lake is falling and is at about 169.97 as of today, normal pool is 168.50. Water temps are ranging from 41-45 degrees and most of the lake is stained to muddy.
Bass are fair on a variety of lures. Rattletraps and Cyclone Lightnin' Blades over the open water grass are producing and many times you may find the bass stacked in these areas. Some good Trap colors to try are tequila or gold/orange in the muddier water.
A 1/2 oz. V&M Slippin Jig or brush hog type lure around the cypress in colors of watermelon, black/blue, or black/red have been catching some good sized bass when fished in 3-5 ft. of water.
Crappie are fair but have slowed over the past few weeks, a few are still being caught on chart./red and black/red jigs in the river channel near Johnsons.

With the warmer weather this past week the bass have really picked up. We are catching most of them on watermelon/blue, shad, or rainbow trout colored flukes and V&M Porkshad. Any light colored spinnerbait and chrome rattletraps over and around the edges of the grass beds are working good too. Most of the bass have been along the edges of the deeper holes, sloughs, and creeks on Caddo.
Crappie were great during the colder weather but slowed after it warmed this past week so I expect it to be excellent over the next couple of weeks with the colder weather coming. We have caught the majority of our fish using red/white, purple/white, and chart./red jigs on a cork 3-5 ft. down in 7-10 ft. of water. There are a lot of crappie in the main channel around Johnsons and in the bayous.
Water temps as of 12/19 were 56-60 and cooling. The lake is about 1-1.5 ft. low and rising.

Bass fishing has been good over the past few days. Bass are hitting black/blue Cyclone Slip/N/Jigs and shiner or watermelon colored V&M Pork Shad over and through the grass. Once you locate the bass they are generally bunched up and chasing shad. Rattletraps along the edges of the vegetation have been catching some decent bass too. We are catching the Crappie about 3 ft. down over 7-10 ft. of water on the channel edges near the Government Ditch using small white/red or red/green 1/16 oz. jigs. The lake level is stable and about 1 - 1.5 ft. low. Water temps as of today were between 51-55 degrees.

Bass and Crappie are in their fall patterns and getting better with time. This past week our better bass fishing has been in the mornings then most customers have wanted to crappie fish on the days when bass slowed after the morning bite. The bass have mostly come on fluke type baits and spinnerbaits fished through the grass and pads. Crappie are coming from the deeper creeks on jigs in the pads. We have brought in several 5 gallon buckets of crappie this week. Today water temps were from 59-63 degrees and the lake has come up about 4-5 inches.

Bass fishing is great right now. With the cooler water temps the bass are just now beginning their fall feeding frenzy and can be caught on a variety of lures from topwaters to Texas rigged worms. The bass bite has gotten better over the last week and will only get better over the next days and weeks to come. Find the roaming shad along the vegetation and the bass will be nearby. My largest this past week went 8.33 using a Shad colored V&M Pork Shad. Clients caught 7 bass this past week over 6lb. up to 8lb along with many other quality sized bass. Water temps have been ranging from 56 early in the day to 61 later in the day. The lake levels are stabile and 1.5 to 2 ft. low. The white and yellow bass can be caught in the Big Cypress River channel using small spoons and tail spinners hopped off the bottom. Crappie fishing is great using shiners and jigs. Most are being caught inside the pads lining the Big Cypress in 4-7 ft. of water.

Water temps have been ranging from 60 early in the day to 64 later in the day. The lake is 2 ft. low, but stable. The bass are beginning to get more aggressive as the water cools and they will only get better with time. Most of the bass have come out of the grass and pad mix using a V&M Pork Shad(super fluke) in colors of watermelon/red and junebug fishing them over and through the hydrilla and pads on the creek and slough edges. Texas rigged watermelon candy/chartreuse tail High Tails(brushhog) pitched along the edges of the creeks and on the cypress trees are working well. We have really caught some nice sized bass this past week, including several 5-7 lb. bass.

Most all the bass lately have mostly come on a V&M Pork Shad in colors of watermelon/red and junebug fishing them over and through the hydrilla and pads on the creek and slough edges. Texas rigged red shad or black/blue 9 inch Super Ringer worms bounced off the bottom in the same type cover has brought in some larger bass, especially once the sun gets high. The Bayou Bullfrogs in colors of watermelon or black will catch bass from the heavy matted grass and duckweed mix also.

Not much has changed over the past couple of weeks, we are still pitching worms like a 9 inch Super Ringer or 11 inch Hog Wild in colors of red shad(stained water) or plum(clearer water). A 1/4 oz. weight in most situations has been working well but once it gets hot with a bright sun I have sometimes had to go to a heavy 3/4 oz. weight and punch it through the deeper(5-7 ft.) heavily matted grass.
We have also been catching them on a Pork Shad(fluke) in watermelon and junebug(stained water) colors. Bayou Bullfrogs during the heat of the day have been working good too.
Good numbers of smaller kentucky and largemouth bass on the Big Cypress above the Gov't Ditch using shallow diving Bandits and Pop-r's has been working at times early in the day too. Water temps are ranging from 85 to 92 degrees.

Bass are in the thick grass right now. I have been using a Pork Shad or a frog in colors of baby bass, junebug, or most any watermelon color has worked well. To really dead stick your lure on the cypress try a Chopstik in junebug or red shad. I have also been pitching a 6 inch Hardhead tube or a 11 inch Hogwild worm in colors of black red glitter and red bug. When the bass are really busting the surface in the thick grass a Bow Bend Buzzbait works well here. Keep it simple as far as colors go and use a white on bright days and black when dark or overcast. Bream are still being caught on crickets around the cypress thickets and holes in the pads and grass. The lake is at normal levels but starting to fall and and the water temps have been ranging from 80-85 degrees.

Bass can be caught in a wide variety of ways right now. Topwaters and V&M Porkshad in the grass are catching the numbers. My bigger bites have mostly come off the cypress using a V&M Super Ringer worm and a Cyclone Swim Blade jig in most any dark color. Bass are eating shad and bream heavily right now and these patterns should continue for a while. Frogs over the matted vegetation are catching some nice bass too. The lake is at normal levels and and the water temps have been ranging from 70-75 degrees.

The fishing on Caddo Lake is good right now. The bass are biting on brush hogs, big worms, and jigs. Any dark colors working. The best areas to fish are the north side of "Sand Island", north side of "Bird Island", and east side of "Big Green Brake". The bigger bass are coming on single trees in 3-4 ft, of water. Need to key on cypress trees that are holding some type of cover.(hydrilla, new pads, roots, etc.) Make long cast on calm days. The big fish are very spooky. Fishing has been best on over cast days with a good wind. Good Luck and Great Fishing!!!!

The fishing on Caddo Lake has been excellent for the last couple of weeks. The lake has dropped and the bass are easier to catch. I'm catching my bigger fish in 4-5 ft. of water around cypress trees using worms, jigs, and brush hogs. The bream fishing is also great. "John T Island" is the hot spot.

The fishing has been excellent this week. There are a lot of fish spawning right now. Lizards, brush hogs, and flukes seem to the baits to fish. Don't forget senkos, I caught a 10.26 and a 8.9 within three cast of each other on the 6" watermelon blue senko. The fishing will continue to be great for the rest of the month. Go to

Bass have been excellent over the past few days and should continue that way for some time with the warm temps and 2nd spawn still to come. We have been using watermelon or kudzu colored trick worms and pork shad in the the thick cypress/grass mix in shallow water to catch the majority of the bass. Also, try fishing the 7-9 ft. deep cypress using black/blue, black/red, and watermelon lizards. In the deeper trees we have not caught as many as the shallows are producing but catching some good sized bass.

The bite is on at Caddo Lake. Black Bass are at full spawn. Fish tree islands with spinnerbaits, texas rig plastics, and senkos. The april moon will be the best. Now is the time to get up here and catch a trophy bass. For bigger bass, fish 4-5ft. cypress trees just off islands with soft plastics.

The lake has been pretty tough the past few days with the higher water and cooler water temps but now that it is warming back up the bite is starting to pick back up. The lake is no longer rising and has leveled off. In the dingier water, I have been doing best using chart./white spinnerbaits over the grass in 2-4 ft. deep water. In the clean water a V&M watermelon colored Pork Shad or Chopstik has been working around the cypress in shallow water. Pitching to the cypress with lizards, worms, and jigs is always a must in the Spring on Caddo, especially when trying to get that big bite.

Bass fishing this past week was a blast. 6 days straight with clients and averaged 25 bass a day with several over 5 lb. all the way up to 9.9 Lb. Our best bite came in the afternoons. Most of our fish came from the open water vegetation dragging V&M Chopstiks and Pork Shad through the hydrilla and pad stems. The cypress trees have given up some decent bass too. Dark colored lizards and worms working here. Bass are in all stages right now. We are still catching bass full of eggs and without. There will still be good spring fishing through April and May this year. The lake is on the rise and water temps as of yesterday were between 60-63 with the cool rain we are currently getting. This has been my busiest Spring yet and I look forward to rest this season to be full of happy clients and sore fish lips...

If you want a big fish, you need to get to Caddo Lake. I'm getting a big bite everyday. The fish on the north side of the lake are spawning. Fish watermelon red super flukes in 3-4ft. of water for the bigger fish. I've been catching some fish in really shallow water but, the bigger ones are a little deeper. Last week we were catching a lot of bass, but it has slowed down a little since the cold front. The closer it gets to the new moon, the better it will get. Good Luck!!!

Springtime bass fishing has been great and should continue that way for a while. Bass are in all stages right now with prespawners for next month, spawners, and some females coming off the beds too. There are several different patterns that are working. My favorite is to fish the cypress with a dark colored Cyclone jig where there is grass present. A V&M Bayou Giant worm or Hawg lizard works well here too. Next, a chrome or red rattletrap fished over the grass can be productive especially on windy days. When fishing super shallow try a weightless Texas rigged watermelon red pork shad or chopstik both made by V&M also. Big bass are being caught right now and will continue to do good over the next couple of months.

It's Here! Yes, great spring time bass fishing on Caddo Lake. The big ones are really starting to bite. Had a customer catch an 11.5 lb. bass yesterday using a large V&M Big Hawg Lizard(9 inch). His buddy had one larger (at least 12) a couple of hours later break off right at the boat after jumping completely out of the water a couple of times. My best patterns right now is to throw a lizard, tube, or jig around the cypress in 3-6 ft. of water and throw a watermelon/red V&M chopstik(senko) around the 1-3 ft. cypress and work it out slow. Red and chrome rattletraps are still good over the grass and along the edge of main lake sloughs especially on windy days. There are lots of fish moving onto their beds right now and lots that are still out staging, so I expect next month to be as good if not better than this one with lots of big bass caught all spring. The lake has filled back up and is safe to navigate with water temps ranging from 58-65 degrees. Go to http://bayououtdoors.com to see the V&M and Cyclone line of baits.

Water was 51 degrees this morning and will only get colder with night temps way down in the 20's this weekend. Spawn is at least another month away(During full moon in March). When the lake gets around 60 dgrees the bass will begin the spawning process. You can still get bit good on jigs off the cypress trees in 3-5 ft. of water. The lake has come up exactly 12 inches over the past couple of weeks.http://caddolake.com 318-455-34375 over 30 lb.

Caddo Lake has been good this week. We caught a couple over 9lbs. The fish are hitting jigs and brush hogs in 3 to 4 feet of water. The bigger fish are biting in the middle of the day. Fish flats early with spinnerbaits and traps. Move to the trees after 9am. The males are up shallow getting the beds ready. There will be a few fish spawn out on the full moon this next week. Good Luck!!!

Bass fishing has been good over the past week. The water temps are in the low to mid 50's and the water is still low but coming up some with the recent rains. I have been using a couple of different lures lately, starting with a V&M Pork Shad in colors of watermelon or junebug. I Texas rig this bait with a 4.0 hook and no weight. Fishing over the grass and through the pad stems have worked well. Another lure I have been using is a 1/2 oz. Cyclone Jig in colors of back/blue or mardi gras. 5 inch tubes in colors of black/blue or black/red are working well also. Stick with the cypress trees in 2-4 ft. of water fishing slow. I like to use a V&M Mud Bug as a trailer. The crappie are fair using white or green 1/16 oz. jigs fished 3-4 ft. deep using a bobber. Go to http://bayououtdoors.com to see the V&M line of baits.

The Bass bite has slowed, the lake is getting hammered for upcoming boat show tournament. The fish have move into shallow grass, making them harder to catch. Jigs and spinnerbaits still working early. White perch are kind of up and down, depending on cold fronts. Still catching them on main channel.

Lake temps are down in the low to mid 50's and the water is low and clear. The bass are still feeding up for the winter and are showing up occasionally in schools. Fished are ganged up in spots so usually if you catch one there are several more there. The bass have not stuck to any pattern or cover on a regular basis. Trees, grass, pads, open water have all been producing bites. Fishing the edge of the grass and pads has been probably the most reliable. Black/blue or watermelon senkos, white or chart/white spinnerbaits, shad colored flukes have been working best for me. Crappie can be caught using shiners and red/green jigs on the edge of the river in the pads from Johnsons to Marthas Crossing. The lake is extremely low and dangerous so be careful because there are a lot stumps in the center of the boat lanes.

The big bass bite is on!!! I'm killing the big fish on the big lake in deeper pads. We caught 14 bass over 4lbs. today. We had two 8's and one over ten. My guest from Dallas said they have never seen anything like this and they have been fishing thier entire lifes. It's really UNBELIEVABLE!! Get to the lake. Be careful, its still very low.

The lake is extremely low. Do not run the boat channel from old Holland's camp to Ames Basin. I clipped 11 stumps just on idle. The fishing is pretty good. The bass are starting to hit rattle traps on the deeper flats. White bass are running the channel from tow head to stumpy slough. White perch are on the main river (Big Cypress).

Lake levels are becoming a problem. Be careful running the lake on the Texas side. The fish are biting in the river systems. Worms, senkos, and large bettle spins working on the edges of the channel. White perch still biting on main river channel between Martha's Crossing and Goverment ditch. White bass are in the same area.

Bass fishing has been pretty decent on the upper end of the lake and should only get better as the water continues to cool. The fish should begin to school in the near future as the grass and pads die off the main lake and will get really good with some rain. The lake is still 2-3 ft. low. On the upper end we are using senkos and flukes mostly. The bass are hitting near the edges of the vegetation on the edges of the grass.
The white and yellow bass are beginning to pick up in the main river around Johnsons Ranch. Try roadrunners, small spoons, and rattletraps hopped off the bottom.

Caddo Lake / October
The lake is very low. It is around 3 ft. below normal for this time of year. The bass bite is getting better on the Texas side of the lake. I can't buy a bite on the La. side. Go in the river system, fish the cuts and drains with crankbaits and baby brush hogs. The crappie are biting on minnows around Martha's crossing.
