do to a very hot summer the pike fishing on the river gippin ipswich was realy slow but the perch fishing was crazy lots of small ones but just as many larger speicimen 2 to 3 lb on many many times. pike fishing has been hard going but still pulling three or four 15 to 23lbs out plus an odd jake or two |

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
Again we have had mixed weather mainly with strong winds and some very heavy rain. Today the wind is easterly so very little rain will come our way and the forecast is drier but cooler.Good river levels exists for the last couple of days of one of the best local Salmon seasons in many many years.
Dubbs, Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
Mainly very wild days have kept most anglers away but on calmer days there has been some good surface sport to small black dries and emergers such as vees suspender buzzer, f flies, hoppers and tiny klinkhammers. Lures and intermediate lines with menace varients and white and green tadpoles and fritz patterns also producing. Reports of several tagged fish with different coloured tags showing that the trout over winter well.
Esthwaite Water
The last week has given excellent trout fishing with a rod average of 7.1. Fish have mainly been fry bashing so patterns such as cats whiskers, budgies, sparklers, zonkers and menace varients have been great producers.The black buzzer hatches are slowing but in calmer spells rainbows are rising and taking them on the top.Best bag in last few days was 30 to shrimp patterns on an intermediate line fished figure of eight. Best trout was 6lbs.Boat anglers getting best sport with best fishing at the ticket office frontage as well as the cages. Bank anglers are doing well from the car park and the boathouse on the eastern shore. Pike fishing is a bit patchy and fish are falling to lures and deadbait. Andrew Laird took his 3rd twenty this month on a static herring and it was 24lb.
Farleton View Fishery
Fishing very well in the very clear water. Some anglers have had over twenty rainbows in a session.Lures are still marginally best with white and green, black or black and green, orange and naturally the menace varient.In calmer conditions black vees suspender buzzers are producing wel as there is a steady hatch f black buzzers most of the day.Bloodworms in red, yellow sparkle or orange are giving great results and best patterns are the beaded marabou versions (headbangers).Plenty of fish to about 6lbs caught.
Gatebeck Tarn
Not many anglers fishing and the fishing has slowed down a little with main sport coming at last light with carp, roach, rudd and perch falling to maggot. Corn and small cubes of meat will also give good bags here.
Kentmere Lake
The smal lake is full but fishing reasonably wel mainly to black buzzers and red headbangers but on some wild days trout are coming to floating fry and daddy longlegs
Killington Reservoir
Odd trout reported to worm but there does not sem to have been the numbers fishing this year. This could be because the weather has been a lot more unsettled. Roach fishingis now under way and maggots and bread are all that is required for these easy fish. If you want any information about Killington then you should call 015395 68393.
Lancaster Canal
Visitors this week have taken roach and perch on maggot. No reports of any pike but very few anglers on the canal now that it is cooler.
Ratherheath Tarn
With the half term there have been some good catches still of carp into the teens of pounds. Good baits are pelletsand halibut pellets and small bilies.Some of the nicer fish have come to anglers using pva bags thus depositing plenty of food all around their hook baits.Luncheon meat is also producing along with maggots and worm.
River Kent
The Kent has been up several times this last two weeks with lots of Salmon on the move. Today it is lower but will remain at a good level until the season ends on Sunday.Salmon have come to flying condoms, fly, shrimps and also worms.It is getting to a good shrimping level now where allowed and in October red is usualy best.This season,because of ample rises at the right time, has given runs of Salmon that many anglers had forgotten could exist. Many anglers have caught in excess of 20 fish each. One encouraging trend is that many of these anglers have put many of their fish back.We have had reports of anglers fishing this week taking away very dark fish
Rydal and Grasmere
Both waters are high but are still producing some steady sport but not as hectic as earlier in the year. Deadbaits and lures both working and main angling emphasis is for pike.
Tenement Farm
No reports this week.
Tewitfields Coarse Lake
Fishing brilliantly and Andy Wade from nearby Burton took a lovely Mirror Carp of 15lb 5oz on luncheon meat. That was his fifth double carp in 3 sessions all to meat.Mixed bags are being taken with worms and maggots giving best results.
Tewitfields Trout lake
Although Les is introducing any method on 6 November for a short period to reduce trout numbers prior to restocking he has introduced 400lb of extra trout and bags of upto 11 reported caught to 5lb. Rod average is 3.88 .Daddies and GRHE are doing the business.
Windermere
High water but still some nice pike taken mainly to boat anglers.Nothing large reported. Lures are doing welsuch as Bull Dawgs and any soft tails but some are being taken on smallplugs such as Big S and 11cm rapalas. Still some perch and roach mainly to maggot.
Wych Elm
The cold clear water has definely switched the trout on and several anglers have had bags into the teens of fish up to 8lbs.The big catches have generally come on beaded marabou bloodworm patterns (headbangers) and if you do not have some then you should try them as they work superbly well in all the local waters. Still tiny olive buzzers hatching most days plus a few black ones. Lures also producing and most fritz patterns are working well on intermediate lines.

favored pegs are 41 [fished close to the bushes on the opposite side]39[close on the left and far out]34[close in on the left]33[straight out]and 32[close to the sides].
boilies arn't being taken well at the moment but if fishing them it is best to use a 'unique' shape such as a dumbell.luncheon meat on a hair is working well with some tench and carp being taken.But most are being caught on trout pellet.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
A mixed bag of weather since the last report with days of heavy showers and quite windy but today the wind has dropped and it is cool but pleasant and the forecast for the next few days is cooler but fine.Rivers are still at good heights and Salmon are tending to settle in pools. Cooler weather has ensured good fishing for rainbow trout and coarse fish but not as many people are fishing now when they should be out enjoying excellent sport.
Dubbs, Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
On the right days there has been some good top of the water fishing with small hoppers, klinkhammers, daddies and fry patterns.Down below lures are starting to work on sinking lines.Pick the right day for good sport as these waters can be very exposed at times.
Esthwaite Water
Although it was windy last week rod average was 4.9. Trout are feeding hard on fry so use patterns such as cats whisker, sparkler, minkie, floating fry etc. Best results have come to medium sinking lines but sometimes fish are higher and an intermediate line is better. Big hatches of smaller buzzers in the evenings with a few sedge producing excellent late top of water fishing.Best areas are ticket office frontage, the bank at 4 tree bay, opposite the ticket office, the car park and the boathouse stretch on the eastern shore. Best fish a superb 13lb 3oz Rainbow which took a worm in front of the ticket office.Pike fishing fairly slow with most coming to lures but some are being taken on deadbaits.Nick Dene had 5 Pike to 18.5lb.
Farleton View Fishery
The lake is now full, clear and much cooler and sort at present is magnificent with the best Rainbow at 9lbs.Numerous other good fish around 5lb + are being caught. With less insect life ures are now starting to work well and one local angler had a bag of 14 and several anglers are taking 10 or more fish in a session. Good lures are white and gren and orange fritz but most wil be worth a try especially menace varient which works very well.Damsel nymph and buzzers also producing well and on some days fish are rising to dry flies. If windy try a daddylonglegs.Rod average is now 3.8 and improving.
Gatebeck Tarn
Not much activity because of cooler weather but Carp will respond well to maggot, corn and pellets and a few worms wil sort out the Perch.
Kentmere Lake
Water levels have droped by about 4` in the last two weeks and the smaler lake is fishing steadily but no reports of big fish. Salmon fishing only is now available in the big lake but you could also catch a brownie hereHeadbangers are giing double figure catches and most lures fished on floating or intermediate lines are working as are fry patterns.Non stop hatches of black buzzers here so make sure youhave pupa and emerger patterns.
Killington Reservoir
Very few reports because of the wild weather but rainbows should still be taken on worms, spoons, plugs etc while fry patterns of fly will work well on slightly calmer days. We assume that the cheaper day ticket for coarse fishing has commenced but we have not been informed.It is usually fairly easy fishing for Roach here with most baits fished ledger method. Lancaster Canal
No reports in the last few days but Perch , Roach and Pike fishing should be good. A few worms, maggots and a bit of corn will do the trick and for Pike a small spoon or sprat deadbait will take fish.Cooler weather always sends the canal anglers into hibernation just when they should be fishing as this water fishes great in the Autumn.
Ratherheath Tarn
The water is now cooler but still some nice bags of Carp and Bream. Tench have slowed but plenty of Rach etc to maggot. Best baits in the last few days have been halibut pellets, small pellets, crab and crawfish boilies plus soft pellets such as cats and dogs and worms , corn and meat. With a variety of baits a good session should be on the cards.
River Kent
The river is still at a nice height but is much lower than recently causing the fish to pause in the pools.Salmon are throughout the river in very good numbers and even in the lower water fish are being taken and a magificent fish over 20lbs was returned by an angler fishing the "free" Kendal town stretch.Where permitted shrimp is doing very well at this height.
Rydal and Grasmere
High water but Pike and Perch being caught from both lakes and Grasmere is producing nice Pike to deadbaits on the roadside bank. Rydal still producing to deadbaits but anglers trying ondex type spoons are also picking up fish. Perch to small spoons, worms etc.
Tenement Farm
No reports this week.
Tewitfields Coarse Lake
Nothing much to report this week because of the weather but baits fished on the bottom will give decent fishing with Carp, Bream and Rudd in particular. Try worms for the Perch.
Tewitfields Trout lake
Col water is giving excellent fishing with a rod average of 4.5. Bestfish a 4.5lb Rainbow and best bag 15.Lures are starting to work but buzzers on a floating line and damsels and fry patterns will take a ot of fish.On 6 November the lake will become any method except spinning to alw a clear out of stock after which it will be restocked with quality trout and revert back to fly fishing. After two weeks spinning will also be allowed and there could bsome outstanding fishing here in November. Remember that there are some excellent Pikeand a lot of good carp in the lake so why not have a shot
Windermere
Still high but some nice Pike are being taken by boat anglers and lures of all sizes and types are taking fish and we have even had reports of Pike taking small killer jigs.Perch fishing still goo.d to worms and spinners and some good Roach fishing to maggot, corn and bread
Wych Elm
This lake is lovely and full and very clear and the cooling of the water has prompted a lot of larger fish to show and last week while giving instruction we caught superb trout of 5lb 12 oz and 10lb in a full bag.Several fish of 8 lbs have been caught with individual catches into the teens being taken even on short sessions. Lures are starting to work again but there is a hatch of tiny green buzzers most days so a size 16 olive epoxy is a good bet along with headbangers especially in red,yellow or orange/yellow. Sedges and daddies plus hoppers producing on windy days.

We have had lots of rain since the last report and we have had one of the best runs of Salmon and Sea Trout for many years. Several anglers have caught up to 5 Salmon in a session and a good number of fish taken have had sea lice on them. A good number of big fish have been both landed and lost. We know of 2 20lb Salmon returned and also a very larg fish estimated over 25 lbs lst. A good number of 14lb and 15lb Salmon have been taken. On the very high waters best results have come on condoms, tobies, worms etc. Water is now high and clear and will be excellent for fly for the next few days.One encouraging sign is the number of anglers who are returning Salmon including clean ones rather than the bad old days of fish mongering.
Dubbs, Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
Fishing much better with the cooler water and longer nights. All lakes are producing good fish and good flies are floating fry, daddy longlegs, headbangers, buzzers and daddy longlegs. Orange or white fritz goldhead lures fished on sinking lines are picking up fish and versions of the damsel nymph will always fish well.
Esthwaite Water
This lake has fished superbly in the cooler conditions and Trout are now back up in the surface layers with good bags taken on ptns, grhe and daiwl bach. Good catches in the top of the lake but expect superb sport at the south end as the coarse fish fry shoal here. Worm fished with float plus spinners working well for any method anglers. Pike fishing starts next week and promises to be good as many customers have recently caught pike on fly.
Farleton View Fishery
Again fishing much better with the cooler conditions and some superb Brown Trout are showing with two over 5lbs with the best Rainbow Trout being 10lbs. Olives are seen hatching this week which will give brilliant sport on olive klinkhammers. White lures are catching rainbows along with damsels. Some really good Blue Trout will be stocked over the coming weeks so look out !
Gatebeck Tarn
Now tha the holiday makers have gone there has not been much angling pressure on this lake but those anglers who have gone have had great bags of small Carp, good Perch etc. Best baits have been maggots, corn or small pellets.
Kentmere Lake
Very full with some jetties under water. Salmon and Sea Trout are in the main lake.Good brownies have been taken in the main lake on montana nymphs. In the small lake fish have been responding well to headbangers and other blood worms plus black buzzers.damsel nymphs, klinkhammers,floating fry and daddy longlegs are working well on the breezy, cloudy days
Killington Reservoir
The wild weather has put off all but the most hardy anglers but a few trout are being taken on worm and spinner. It has been too wild for fly fishing. We assume that KAA will be doing reduced price coarse fish only permits again from next month when Roach fishing can be incredibly easy as most have never seen a hook.If you want any information about Killington then you should call 015395 68393.

A fantastic Pike of 26lbs has been taken on dead bait. Tench fishing is slowing slightly but plenty of Roach, perch and small C.arp to worms, maggot and corn
Ratherheath Tarn
Carrying a lot of extra water but this has not seriously upset the fishing as we have heard of Carp to 14lb taken this week.Halibut pellets, meat baits, 8mm pellets and cats and dogs expander pellets are all working along with maggot and worm. Still some bream and tench being caught. It is now shooting season so please check with us before going as the lake will be closed some saturdays in October.
River Kent
Lots of high water recently.The best Autumn fishing for many years.Get fishing ! Fantastic fishing as mentioned in our introduction with Salmon over 20lb caught and released. As many as 5 salmon per angler caught and up to 8 Sea Trout on the worm.High water has meant spinning with condoms, tobies and rapalas plus worm. Water now high but dropping so fly and shrimp fishing should be very good for the next week or two.
Rydal and Grasmere
These two lakes are again very full but are still fishing well for Perch and Roach mainly to maggot. Some nice Pike taken on deadbaits and beginning and end of the day is the best time for some good sport
Tenement Farm
No reports this week but the weather has been attrocious. Weed will be dying back so there should be some good fishing during the coming weeks.

Superb Carp of about 25lbs taken along with another of approximately 20lbs. Bream, skimmers, Perch and Rudd all showing up to a variety of baits best fished on the bottom.Tenh fishing is slwing slightly but plenty of Roach, perch and small carp to worms, maggot and cornTenh fishing is slwing slightly but plenty of Roach, perch and small carp to worms, maggot and corn
Tewitfields Trout lake
Cooler water has improved the fishing but the lakes are till low considering the amount of water. Buzzers plus daddy longlegs and various fry patterns are working and a Kendal angler had a goos session using leadhead lures.
Windermere
The lake is very high and in places is difficult to fish from the bank. Some nice smaller Pike taken by lure anglers from the boats. Plenty of perch still to worms , maggos, small spinners and killer jigs. Good Roach later in the day on ledgered maggots.
Wych Elm
Very full now with the odd platform under water. Superb clarity and fishing great with a rod average of over 3. Kendal angler Roy Anderson took 22 fish in asession a week ago and several anglers have had fish over 5lbs. Good flies are buzzers, invictas, tadpoles and daddy longlegs.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
The last 2 weeks have seen a mixed bag of weather with plenty of showers plus sun. lakes and rivers are at excellent levels and plenty of migratory fish have been running. This is a much better situation than this time last year and the last 4 weeks of the brown and sea trout season plus the last 2 months of the salmon season should provide superb fishing. As I write this report the sun has apeared again and is forecast for the next few days
Dubbs, Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
From the reports we have received we suspect that our predictions were correct and that these waters were restocked just days prior to the bank holiday as plenty of nice fish came out t o lures and intermediate lines.Best lures on these waters tend to be menace varients, black and green tadpoles, white and green tadpolesand hot orange fritz goldheads. As the fish get feeding naturally buzzers will still produce along with daddies and fry with some sedges etc late in the day. To fish these waters with consistent success you need to fish with clear leader materials because of the water clarity.
Esthwaite Water
Further cooling of the lake has resulted in much improved sport with a rod average now up to 4.5. During the day fishing is best using intermediate or sinking lines combined with lures or various nymphs.However in the evenings there are large hatches of buzzers and sedges and fish have responded by feeding hard at the surface. Floating lines and sedges plus daddies and hoppers are very effective at the moment.Best bag was 12 rainbows to over 3lb to black and green fritz lure.Fishing will be very good over the next few weeks as a large number of rainbows between 4lb and 10lb+ have just been stocked so be warned !! Farleton View Fishery
Like most local trout lakes the cooler water has led to a big improvement in sport and in the last few days rainbows of 7.5lbs and 8lbs have been caught. Also trout of between 3lb and 4lb are showing up on a very regular basis.Best patterns are cdc buzzers, shipmans buzzers,sedges, hoppers and daddy longlegs.Some success with orange fritz based lures.
Gatebeck Tarn
This small new lake continues to fish extremely well for small c toarp, perch and eels and is a nice easy water to take young anglers to or for beginners. Best baits are still maggots and flavoured corn although small 4mm pellets are also working just fine.
Kentmere Lake
Both lakes are full and if you want to catch a sea trout or salmon on the fly then there is a chance in the main lake.However please remember that a lot of the fish will be stale and should be returned.The small lake is fishing better for rainbow trout and on windy cloudy days good bags are being taken on floating fry, daddy longlegs, hoppers and sedges.In sunny conditions, buzzers, pink sight bob killers and yellow or red headbangers are producing nice fish.For anglers fishing below menace varients,dawsons olives,cats whiskers and various gold head fritz patterns are doing well.
Killington Reservoir
One or two better bags of trout reported with up to 8 fish taken per angler to worm.Fishing should be good for the next few weeks mainly to worm but spinners and killer jigs will also be very effective.One or two anglers dead baiting for pike but we have not heard of any good catches.No reports of roach but most anglers wait until October when there is usually a reduced permit fee to fish for them.If you want any information about Killington then you should call 015395 68393.
Lancaster Canal
Better day time catches when it has been cloudy with mainly small roach and perch but still some nice tench catches early and late.For these good tench bags you need to think like a tench and rake the swims well and put in lots of grounbait including worms,corn ,maggots and bread. To get a good bag you will need more than a quarter pint of maggots.A session for tench with a quarter pint of maggots will invariably lead to poor or no catches.
Ratherheath Tarn
Some excellent carp reported this week with fish into the teens.Nice bags of tench, bream and roach continue and it is a gudgeon a cast on small baits.Best baits for carp in the last few days have included halibut pellets,4mm and 8mm pellets and a good variety of soft flavoured pellets.Flavoured meat, corn and bread also producing and even maggot has taken the odd double figure fish.You need to check the open days for the next few weeks as this lake will be closed a lot for either shooting or competitions. Fishing should remain good unless there are extremes of weather conditions and all the visitor pressure is now over leaving a much better choice of pegs.
River Kent
The last two weeks has seen some superb lifts in the river and there have been some excellent catches of mainly salmon but also a few sea trout. A lot of anglers complained of not many fish but with so many river rises they tended to run and be well spread out and customers have seen them taking the weirs in Staveley. Some super fresh run salmon were taken last week in Levens Park and some good fish were taken around Kendal with the best being 13.5 lbs to fly. One local angler took 3 nice fish a few days ago.Flying condoms,tobies, large mepps and rapalas plus worm and shrimp flies are all producing.
Rydal and Grasmere
Lots of perch but pike activity not as hectic as it was. However visitor pressure is now off these lakes and pike fishing will get back to normal with both ledgered deadbaits and lure fishing likely to work. Perch are being taken on worms, maggots, small spoons and killer jigs and roach to ledgered maggot.
Tenement Farm
This Burneside based fishery is also fishing well but you need to be aware of the weed. We have heard of a visting angler that we sent there catching a carp of just over 6lbs which is arger than was though to be in there so there could be some pleasant surprises in the coming months.Best baits are maggots and corn and a bit of loose feed to bring the fish in.
Tewitfields Coarse Lake
This small lake is fishing very well with good nets of perch, rudd, bream and carp. Baits fished hard on the bottom such as maggots, corn, bread etc are producing the quality fish. Very much worth a try with surface baits for the big carp
Tewitfields Trout lake
The cooler weather plus extra water has given sport a big boost and rod average is now upto 4.5 The best recent bag was 20 trout including rainbows to 3.5 lbs and a lovely 3lb brownie. All came on lures which always work well in Autumn. The lake is slightly tinged and as we predicted in the last report you can expect outstanding fun with fry paterns. If it is cloudy and windy try daddy longlegs and floating fry and big grass hoppers.On calmer days buzzer patterns and headbangers are doing well fished statically on floating lines.
Windermere
There has been the usual good fishing for perch which have been caught virtualy anywhere and good methods are float or ledger fishing with worms or maggots, spinning with small spoons such as mepps or killer jigs in a good variety of colours.Roach fishing has been confined to evenings and mostly to maggot or corn ledgered using a feeder.Still too much weed for good bank fishing for pike and even from a boat it has been a bit difficult but top water lures such as lucky 13s and frogs have given sport to smaller fish at the weed beds.
Wych Elm
Fishing well now and as we predicted recently olives are again showing up at this lake giving some good sport on cloudy days and evenings. Fishing has been difficult on sunny days but some nice fish falling to buzzers, lures, daddies, f flies and klinkhammers.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
At last the hot weather has broken and we have had some rain which has filled the lakes and rivers. Forecast is for more but it will miss us as the wind will be from the East..
Dubbs, Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
WE suspect that the lakes will be stocked this week for the bank holiday. If this is the case then intermediate lines and lures will produce well especially a dawsons olive. Top of water fishing will improve with the coler cloudy weather and top patterns will be daddies, floating fry, hoppers and sedges. damsel nyphs and buzzers will still fish well .
Esthwaite Water
Rain has cooled the lake down and fish are on top again and floating and intermediate lines are needed.Trout have been taken on hoppers and daddies, sedges, damsels, buzzers, cats whiskers and orange fritz. Best bag 9 rainbows to 4lb 8oz and rod average 3.75. Best areas for boats are the cages, boils, weather buoy and swimming pool. From the bank try opposite the ticket office, the boathouse, grubhole and National Trust Field.
Farleton View Fishery
Prior to the weather break day time fishing was difficult with most fish coming to small cdcs and headbangers. damsels are slowing down and a few dragon fly evident with some olives, plenty of daddies and masses of corixa in the lake.Fish to about 5lb reported. In current conditions daddy longlegs, sedge patterns, hoppers and cdcs will catch. Too much weed for lures on intermediate lines..
Kentmere Lake
Lake now full. There will be Salmon and Sea Trout in main lake as they have been seen jumping the weirs in Staveley. Small lake fishing ok and will improve in cooler weather with daddies, grass hoppers, floating fry and hoppers likely to be best flies. Below menace varient, orange fritz and headbangers and epoxy buzzers will fish well.
Killington Reservoir
Prior to the rain the lake did not fish too well but now there is more and cooler water prospects are very good to worm, spinners and killer jigs for trout. Lancaster Canal
Cloudy weather has improved day time fishing and tench still dominate catches but roach, perch, carp and pike also taken. Maggots, corn and pellets fishing best.
NEW FISHERIES
Gatebeck Tarn fishing very well with individual bags of 100 carp to maggot and flavoured corn. Tenement Farm also fishing ok but a bit weedy.
Ratherheath Tarn
Fishing well although it was slow for a couple of days last week with the change in weather. Good carp to mid teens and tench and bream to 6lb being taken plus masses of roach and gudgeon.Best baits halibut and 8mm pellets, most boilies, meats, flavoured corn and maggots.
River Kent
Drop everything and go fishing. At last the August conditions we have waited several years for have arrived with several small lifts plus a big one late last week. Most fish waited for the big lift but it brought in a lot of Salmon. Good catches being taken on worm, condoms, tobies, rapalas and allys shrimp. Best brown trout 2lbs and a young visitor has taken a lovely fresh 3lb 8oz sea trout. Prospects excellent..
Rydal and Grasmere
These lakes now full but prior to rain had continued to fish very well for pike and perch. Pike falling to mackeral and perch to worms, maggots and killer jigs with plenty of roach to maggot on light line.
Tewitfields
The rain has lifted water levels and cooled the lake down and some big fish seen in the margins. Fishing had been poor but will now switch on especially with fry feeders.On top try floating fry, hoppers and daddies plus grass hoppers and down below white minkies, appetisers, buzzers and head bangers. ON the coarse lake fishing is good especially for carp rudd and bream. Best baits are corn and worm fished on the bottom.
Windermere
Still fishing well everywhere for perch. Very few reports of trout. Best baits have been maggots, worms, small spoons and killer jigs. Good roach sport to 2lbs in evenings and small pike to rapalas and bigger killer jigs.Lake is now full and sport may slow for a day or two as fish react to the changed temperature.
Wych Elm
Water levels now high and clarity good. Best bag 7 fish and best trout in last few days was 5lb 10oz.A few days ago a young angler Bob was instructing took 3 fish on a difficult morning with the best at 3lb 8oz. Buzzers, black gnats, hares ear and headbangers all producing with daddies and hoppers in wind..

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
It looks as if summer has arrived with very hot weather and virtually cloudless days. Good for the tourists wanting to feed the ducks but not a lot of good for day time fishing. We had a shower at the beginning of this report period and it put 8" or so in the rivers briefly and helped things but overall fishing has remained good to very good on most waters. The forecast is for the heatwave to break so we could do with a good 24 hours of heavy rain to lift the rivers and cool down the still waters.
Esthwaite Water
The fishing has remained difficult because of the weather conditions and the rod average has dropped to 3.4 which is low to what we normally expect.
In the day most trout are holding at between 10` and 15` deep and feeding almost exclusively on pin fry and daphnea. Best fishing is still from the boats with the cages and the weather buoy being the hot spots. Expect this to continue until we get a cooler unsettled spell of weather.
Top of the water fishing should be good during the last couple of hours of daylight when there are plenty of damsels, buzzers and sedges to be seen. If there is a cloudy breezy day then there will be plenty of beetles and daddies on the water.
Best flies in day time on fast sinking lines are orange fritz patterns, cats whisker, minkies and menace varients and in the evenings beatles, daiwl bachs daddies and buzzers will work well.
Best bank fishing is up the north of the lake at the area around the boathouse..
Farleton View Fishery
Day time fishing has got harder with so much food around. There are plenty of damsel flies, black and olive buzzers, corixa, bloodworm, sedges and a few olives. On breezy days beetles and daddies will give great sport along with small hoppers.
Best daytime patterns in calmer conditions have been black shipmans buzzers, f flies,shuttlecock and suspender buzzers along with small buzzer pupa and headbangers.
There is now a fair bit of weed because of the hot weather so stick to floating lines for good sport. In the evenings try Elk Hair caddis and shipmans buzzers. Nice fish to around 4lb landed.
Wych Elm
The hot weather has warmed the water up slightly but it remains fairly clear and fishing is excellent with the best fish in the last few days a superb 12lb Rainbow caught and released by Kendal angler Roy Anderson.
Dry flies are producing well especially small klinkhammers and f flies and on breezy days daddies are doing well if there is a good ripple. otherwise goldhead lures such as menace varients and orange fritz will always take fish. Good patterns to fish slowly are red or yellow headbangers, SBKs, damsel nymphs and epoxy buzzers in smaller sizes.
Several bags of 9 fish taken and other good trout include 3lb 8oz and 5lb 6oz.Try elk hair caddis in the late evenings for some great sport..
Tewitfields
Hot weather has slowed things a bit with best bag 13 trout to buzzer. Best fish 5lb 9oz.Rod average is 2.72. Good good sport on cloudier days to emergers and small dries. On breezy days beetles, daddies and floating fry good . On hot days epoxy buzzers, headbangers and damsels fishing well.Water is warmer now so better fish are deep and an intermediate line is needed to reach them. Plenty of fish to 4lbs. Coarse lake fishing very well for most species including carp, skimmers, big bream and roach. Best baits are sweetcorn and worm combined with small amounts of loose feed.
Windermere
Excellent fun fishing for the perch in the shallower areas with structure and visitors are getting good bags from the shore with worms, maggots,small spinners and especially killer jigs which are proving to be awesome for the third consecutive summer.
As expected at this time of year trout fishing is pretty quiet with odd ones falling to trolled small floating rapalas but there is still some steady pike sport for boat anglers trolling or casting a variety of lures from rapalas to hell tails or Abu Toby spoons. Deadbaiting a bit quieter but some fish to about 10lbs.
prospects for early August for the casual angler are very good if perch are targetted and good quality roach can be found in the last couple of hours of daylight and most are coming to red maggot. Ledgered swimfeeder is doing best.
Rydal and Grasmere
An exceptional Pike for Rydal has been reported to us. It was reported as 28lbs and was one of a 2 fish catch on deadbait with the other fish at 12lbs.
Lots of other good pike are still being caught to mid teens in weight and Mackeral or eel is doing well. Now lots of perch on both lakes to worm or maggot and also roach to maggot. Why not take a stroll around the lake with a spinning rod and a few spoons and small plugs and killer jigs and you should have fun with the pike and bigger perch.
Early or late in the day is proving best as the warm weather is attracting hoardes of casual tourists to these lakes and they are throwing stuff in the water and even swimming right among anglers baits so try and pick your time.
Killington Reservoir
Still not a lot to report from this water . Normally there are lots of casual anglers fishing including many from Kendal but the poorer catches a few weeks ago seem to have put them off.
However if the lake is still getting a regular stock of trout then the fishing should be excellent and if hot weather persists then go early and late. Worm and spinners and killer jigs will take plenty of Trout and perch and deadbaits and shallow running spoons will work well for the pike.
For fly anglers evenings are best and if calmer then sedge patterns will work well. If you get wind and cloud in the daytime then big black hoppers, daddies and floating fry should ensure hectic sport. On hot days try headbangers on a floating line fished statically and if the sun is out then the same approach with a pink SBK will give good results. .If you want any information about Killington then you should call 015395 68393.
Kentmere Lake
This lake is one that can be relied on to produce even on hot sunny days. The secret is knowing the fly to use and how to use it. In those conditions then headbangers, pink SBKs, small epoxy black or olive buzzers or red head buzzers are an absolute must for consistent bags. Menace varients fished deep will also produce.
On cloudy breezy days there has been good sport with klinkhammers, black hoppers and daddies plus of course floating fry. In calm the f fly, suspender buzzers and shuttlecock and shipmans buzzers in small sizes have been good.In the evenings sedge pupa, caddis and adult sedge patterns are doing best.Prospects good for August even with heat. Just remember the killing flies. When I instruct on this lake we are frequently the only people catching in hot weather !!
Ratherheath Tarn
Still fishing very well but this week the carp slowed slightly but that would just be due to the very hot weather and increased fishing pressure especially by afternoons.
Plenty of excellent sized tench and bream taken this week with masses of roach and gudgeon.Contrary to popular belief you do not need sophisticated tackle to fish this water and lots of local children have used fairly basic outfits and had great results often hammering the adults. Best baits are still boilies (most flavours but fruity ones doing very well), halibut pellets, trout and carp pellets plus soft pellets in different flavours. Flavoured meat has produced some terrific bags of carp for visitors this week and corn , bread maggots and worms all taking plenty of fish..
Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
In the current very hot sunny conditions all three lakes are proving very difficult to fish during the main daytime periods. The exception is immediately after stocking when menace varients, cats whiskers, orange fritz and similar lures and doing well.
Fish are tending to be deep in the bright conditions and a static buzzer, small nymph such as daiwl bach or damsel will get a few fish.Given cloud then small dries, mainly black will do well along with daddies. Evenings are fishing best with upto 14 trout in a session to anglers fishing small shipmans buzzers and elk hair caddis in size 16.Pick your time or day and you will still get some sport .
River Kent
We had a small 8" lift about 10 days ago and that encouraged more sea trout to run along with a few grilse.Not much fishing activity now for migratory fish as water has rapidly fallen to low summer level . Some good trout have been taken on fly with good patterns being klinkhammers, beetles, adams, partridge and orange, pink SBKS, ptns and f fly.
Lancaster Canal
Hard in the daytime in bright sun but if you want casual angling in the daytime then the perch and small roach are happy to oblige on float fished maggot.
Tench fishing is best early and late and the fishing is still very good. Most baits including bread, maggots and flavoured corns are working and as ever it is the anglers who are raking swims and feeding heavily who are getting very well rewarded.
NEW FISHERIES
Two new coarse fisheries are now open on day tickets. The first is at Gatebeck and is stocked with loads of small carp and these are responding well to small pellets and maggots. Permits areŁ4 a day from the shop. The other water is at Burneside and holds a lot of different coarse fish. Tickets are at the farm and we will give directions. maggots are probably the best bait here.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
We apologise for the big delay in doing this latest report . Our Internet Service Provider has gone onto a different server and as yet has not amended the way we update our reports so we can not do it automatically until the problem is sorted.
The weather has been totaly mixed but at last we had a few heavy showers when the rest of England got rain but at least the rivers rose twice briefly and migratory fish ran. Still waters were refreshed and then late last week the winds became very strong northerly with day temperatures dropping overnight from 21c to 12c. Today was back to warm with some sun but more showers are forecast from tomorrow. Overall prospects are looking pretty good for the rest of July .
Esthwaite Water
The unsettled weather has slowed the fishing with a rod average of 4.5.Fish have stayed up in the water but are not feeding at the surface much.Most surface feeders are at dusk and are taking emerging sedges and buzzers.
For fly fishermen you need sinking lines and lures and in the last few days boobies have worked well at the Weather Station with fish to 4lb 8oz caught.
Any method anglers are catching and small mepps used around the cages have taken rainbows to 5lbs. Best fishing is from the boats especially the deeper water. Bank anglers should try the boathouse area on the east shore and also opposite the ticket office.
Farleton View Fishery
Good fishing here with rainbow and brown trout taken to 4lbs in the past few days.Weed is now starting to show in some areas so keep to floating lines. There is a mass of food for the trout so they are tending to be pretty choosey as to which flies to take. However a walk around the lake will reveal masses of olive buzzers, corixa, damsel flies and sedges so choice is narrowed.
When the trout are doing the lovely head and tail rises then emerging patterns such as cdc, shipmans buzzers and suspender buzzers are catching fish. The secret is a fine diameter tippet on the leader, small flies and fish statically or very slowly.When the fish are below bloodworms, epoxy buzzers, damsel nymphs are producing well. In the evenings in the sedge hatches small dry sedge patterns are working well but be patient and you will get some good bags..
Wych Elm
Fairly clear again now and some excellent trout can be seen swimming by. At present the lake is clear of weed and daytime hatches are limited to plenty of buzzers ,a few sedges and lots of damsels. Evening hatch activity has been pretty quiet.
Good bags are been taken on a big variety of methods and best trout in last few days was 9lbs. Good patterns to try are cats whisker, fritz lures, black or green buzzers, bloodworms especially headbangers, damsel nymphs, sedges, black gnats and cdc emergers.Try small dries around lunch time if it is cloudy and breezy and good bags will be taken.Anglers are takin upto 8 fish in a session and the rod average is about 3.
Tewitfields
Rod average is still 4.5 and the best recent trout was 13lbs taken on a black lure.Another good rainbow of 7lb 11 oz has been taken on a floating fry plus a fish of 6lb 2oz on a black spider. Spider patterns will work well in a ripple.Best bag of fish 18.Lots of buzzers and sedges evident with masses of damsels plus the odd beetle around so these patterns will work at present along with small buzzers and bloodworms. While the water is warm it will be worth going deeper with an intermediate line and crawling big marabou lures back. We have not found wanting to chase hard at the moment.
On the coarse lake a superb carp in the upper teens was taken last week on bread. Lots of small fish to maggot and bigger baits fished deep at catching the bigger fish.
Windermere
Fishing is pretty good and plenty of roach and perch have moved into shallower water so visitors especially children should now do well fishing worms, maggots, small spinners and killer jigs. Still some pike being taken mainly smaller fish to lures fished from boats. Best lures at present tend to be those with soft wagging tails.
Rydal and Grasmere
The good fishing contines with Rydal producing up to 10 pike per angler on ledger deadbaits such as mackeral. Best fish we have had reported in the last few days was 16lbs. There are now plenty of roach and perch showing both in Rydal and Grasmere so visitors should get great sport on ledgered maggot or worms. Spinning with small lures on either lake will get plenty of perch especially when using the small killer jigs. Good pike are now being taken to anglers using big spoons.
Killington Reservoir
The big winds late last week should have freshened the lake up and given angling a boost as not as many people as usual had visited. Good trout fishing should be there for the ledgered worm angler and spinning with small mepps, tobies, droppens, rapalas and killer jigs will take good bags. Try dead baits for the numerous pike and bread flake for the big roach shoals.
Fly fishers need to choose their days and avoid constant sunshine. Good methods on cloudy days with a breeze will be floating lines in conjunction with foating fry, black hoppers, daddies and sedges especially elk hair caddis patterns and not forgetting the damsel nymphs..If you hit the lake after a restocking then use an intermediate line and black and green tadpoles, orange fritz, cats whiskers and menace varients.If you want any information about Killington then you should call 015395 68393.
Kentmere Lake
Fishing has been slightly patchy with few fish being caught on Sunday. However I was guiding there on Monday and sport was superb. Other than buzzers not much insect activity until the sedges started to hatch later in the day plus the damsels.
Small olive buzzers are fishing well along with headbanger versions of blood worm. On cloudy days with ripple then black hoppers, daddies, klinkhammers and seges are producing well. When fish are taking the emergers then olive suspender buzzers and f flies will produce but do not fish heavy. When fish are deep use the damsel nymphs, hot orange fritz lures and menace varients.
Ratherheath Tarn
The run of amazing fishing just continues although some anglers report some of the tench are spawning.
Carp continue to dominate with fish to 23lbs in the last few days plus others of 15lb and 18lb.bait types at times hardly seems to matter as carp have fallen to bolies, pellets, meet, corn, bread, worms and maggots.
Best flavours for boilies still tend to be scopex, and also some of the sweeter ones. pellets are producing masses of fish and all sizes are working from 4mm to the big halibut ones. Fish are just feeding hard so for a great days sport try this water.
Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
Daytime fishing has slowed a bit as it always does but a menace varient fished on a 12` leader and fished slowly will produce some good fish as will a damsel nymph. For top of the water at all these lakes fish small dark flies such as hoppers, klinkhammers and cdc patterns plus suspender buzzers. In a good wind daddy longlegs and floating fry will give great results.
When it is quiet and not much doing fish a small epoxy buzzer deep and very slowly on a llong leader. Night fishing is mainly confined to the last hour when sedges are generally making a huge appearance. Fish small dry sedges and be patient. Also do not neglect the sedge pupa in the early evenings as they can be superb. Beetles fall onto these waters at any time in summer so dont be caught without some foam ones in black and brown.
River Kent
Since my last report we have had quiet a few heavy very short showers and eventually it was enough to produce two small rises in the river and this is what the migratory fish were waiting for and at last we have sea trout and salmon in the system.
Huge numbers of fish were not taken as the water height did not last but Salmon to 11lbs have been caught plus a superb seatrout of 8lb 8oz which was taken on the fly at night. Since the water air temperatures in day time dropped suddeny to 12c maximum with correspondind very cold nights and this knocked the sea trout off the feed. temperatures are again creeping up so sea trout fishing should improve. The Salmon were taken on the usual wide variety of methods including, fly, spinning and worm. Prospects are quiet good. Trout fishing will also improve with the better flows but now that migratory fish are about the brown trout will not receive much pressure.
Lancaster Canal
Very good tench fishing but mostly in the early mornings and late evenings as these fish tend to be shy in the clear shallow water.Maggots, bread and corn working best especially if the swim has been raked and then pre baited. Odd nice carp taken but these appear to be spawning. Good perch fishing to worm in the day and pike fishing remains good to plug anglers and roving fishermen twitching small deadbaits.

<p><b><br><p>23 June 2004</p>INTERNET FISHING REPORT <p>Again during the past 2 weeks we have had a real mixed bag of weather with hot ,cloudless days followed last week with March temperatures of around 12c. We have also had, hail and thunder and the very odd slight shower that did not even damp the ground properly so bad news for sea Trout anglers.Forecast for today is rain but it does not look like from the look of the sky and then by weekend things are supposed to improve but overall with the exception of the rivers fishing has been good to superb..</p><p>Esthwaite Water</p><p>The hot weather at the beginning of the report period slowed fishing right down but the very cool weather of last week and through the weekend has again improved the fishing.</p><p>Rod average is now 5.5 and fish are much closer to the surface than down deep as they were in all the heat Two anglers between them managed over 50 trout to 3lb 14 oz and all were taken from a boat at the cages.The method was very fast sinking line and lures including cats whiskers, zonkers and fritz. Best fish in the last few days was 5lb 12oz fishing from a boat at the boils.The angler had a total of 5 trout on worm and spinner.</p><p>Best areas are the cages, weather buoy, grubhole and boils for the boats with the boathouse, Smooth Beck and opposite the ticket office for shore anglers.For fly anglers evenings will probably fish best. </p><p>Farleton View Fishery</p><p>Fishing as well as ever and still clear. A little weed now showing but this will only be noticed by anglers using sinking lines. This week is still seeing lots of damsels, sedges, caenis and buzzers with a few beetles when there has been a breeze. Odd olives also observed plus masses of corixa around the margins.</p><p>Again good bags are being taken throughout the day but the very changeable weather has given the odd harder day. Overall natural flies have been fishing better than lures although the menace varient can be relied upon if you want to fish deep. At present sucessful flies have been f flies, bloodworms and headbangers, damsel nymphs, suspender buzzers, in black or olive and buzzer pupae in black, olive and orange.If there is a good breeze try a grasshopper as the result can be unbelievable.Best fish about 7lbs with individual bags to upper teens.</p><p>Wych Elm</p><p>Good news is that the lake is continually clearing and is now nothing like as murky as it has been over the last few weeks. Insect life observed includes a few damsels, masses of sedges, caenis, greater water boatman, buzzers and a few gnats.</p><p>On the cloudy days fishing has been very good with up to 18 fish per angler. Bags of 14 and 15 also reported. Best fish was 9lb 8oz. Good flies have been buzzers, dry greenwells glory, suspender buzzers, bloodworm, gnats, daddies and hoppers and of course the menace damsel nymph. Rod average has been about 2.5. </p><p>Tewitfields</p><p>Rod average is 4.5 with the best fish at 6lb 2oz and best bag 15 trout.</p><p>The water is a little warm in the upper layers so the larger trout are tending to be deep.Good flies have been spider patterns, f fly and other cdc emergers, suspender buzzer, damsel nymphs and menace varients.While giving instruction here a few days ago we managed a superb Roach of about 12oz on a small sight bob killer !!</p><p>On the coarse lake plenty of small carp are being caught but no signs this week of big fish. Lots of skimmers, Tench, good Roach and Rudd being taken on most baits with plenty of small fish to maggots and caster fished on the drop.</p><p>Windermere<p>Still fishing well but some anglers are having a great time while some are struggling. There has been plenty of action for boat anglers trolling small rapalas. As well as catching the odd Trout they are hitting lots of Pike to about 8lbs. Most of this activity is in shallowish water and this is where you need to concentrate. Better fish coming to Bull Dawgs and Helltails and similar lures.Saltwater deadbaits are catching Pike to 18lbs. Perch and Roach are moving into the shallower water but at present there are not many people trying for them. Now that maggots can be used then red maggot is excellent for Roach and Perch and for Roach look around the shallow bays in the calmer evenings for signs of surface activity. The shoals tend to be large and ledgered maggot should be best. The Perch love structure like jetties, pilings, buoys etc and as well as maggot worms, killer jigs and small spinners tipped witha bit of worm will give nice bags.</p><p>Rydal and Grasmere</p><p>Rydal is still fishing very well for Pike and we have had reports of two large fish this week with the smallest 19lbs and the largest at 21lbs. However these two fish are exceptions and most fish have been under 10lbs but there have been plenty of them. Roving anglers using spoons and plugs are now catching Pike and Perch. Grasmere is producing Pike and Perch but not as consistently as Rydal.</p><p>Killington Reservoir</p><p>We have not had many reports of people fishing in numbers these last few days and hopefully the small amount of wind will have cleared the algae that many anglers were complaining about. Catches have tended to be slow and only the odd Trout reported caught so maybe it is due for a stocking or perhaps the very changeable weather is stopping fish biting freely. A few Pike to spoons and mackeral. The fishing will be back on form again as soon as we get some good wind and rain. on. On calmer days there have been lots of buzzer hatches and black suspender buzzers and f flies have worked well. In cloud and ripple small black or olive klinkhammers, black hoppers and daddies are doing well. When fish have been down deep goldhead GRHE, bloodworm and headbangers with a static or very slow retrieve are doing well. </p><p>Ratherheath Tarn</p><p>Fishing is on fire with three Carp of 20lbs reported by customers.One of the Carp was taken on just 3lb line and the other was taken by a young angler fishing for the smaller fish with maggot.</p><p>Tench have slowed down probably because of spawning but some are being caught along with good bream and plenty of small fish. Pellets are still a superb bait including 4mm and 8mm and soft ones and the 14mm halibut pellets seem o be sorting the larger fish. Flavoured corn, boilies, meat, bread, worms and maggots all giving good bags and this should contine unless we suffer a long sunny spell..</p><p>Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs</><p>In the recent unsettled weather lures fished deep especially the menace varient and goldhead orange fritz have been producing good bags of Rainbow Trout. This indicates a fairly recent stocking. At Dubbs suspender buzzer early or late in the day and brown foam beetles with legs have been good along with damsel nymphs plus sedges in the evenings.</p><p>Ghyll Head is fishing similar to Dubbs and on the windy days have those tiger nymphs and big brown foam beetles handy. Caenis has given difficult fishing in the evenings but fish can be caught if you know what you are doing.</p><p>High Newton fishing well to damsels in the day plus buzzers , f flies , hoppers and klinkhammers all small and black on the top. At night sedges are out in force and sedge patterns or small black or white Shipmans buzzers are producing.</p><p>River Kent</p><p>Still no sign of rain so little angling activity especially for the Sea Trout which will pour into the river on the first spate. Fishing activity has mainly been confined to fly with cdc patterns, ptns and grhes plus spider patterns and tiny klinkhammers giving some sport around mid day and in the evenings. Hardly any flow in the pools.</p><p>Lancaster Canal</p><p>Tench fishing remains very good between Crooklands and Stainton and baits such as bread, maggots, corn, boilies and worms are still catching especially in the early mornings and evenings. Lots of small Roach and Perch to maggot for the few day time anglers. INTERNET FISHING REPORT
During the last 2 weeks we have had mainly hot weather with sunny spells and today we had a very strong wind which blew a lot of beetles onto the trout lakes with the result that trout have been taking very freely. Weather for the next few days is mixed but dry and too much sunshine..
Esthwaite Water
Once again fishing has been slower than usual with the hot weather sending the trout down deep. Best sport has been in the evenings when the fish have risen and catches have been made on buzzers, damsel nymphs and any black dry flies.
During the day fly fishermen are having to resort to fast sinking lines and lures such as cats whisker and orange fritz patterns and best day time boat fly fishing has been at South Basin, The Weather Buoy, the Boils and the Cages.Best bank sport has been from opposite the ticket office, Smooth Beck and the car park. Any method anglers catching trout on worms and spinners but they have had to fish deep. Best trout reported was exactly 5lb.
Farleton View Fishery
The hot sunny weather has affected the fishing with early morning and evenings best. Lots of insect life at the moment with damsels, corixa, caenis and sedges being the predominent species plus beetles and some gnats.
Some nice rainbows taken with the best at 7lb to a young local angler who I taught to fly fish last week. He also took a superb trout of 4lbs whilest trying to fish the dry fly.
Good catches are coming to f fly and klinkammers, bloodworms and headbangers and epoxy and suspender buzzers in black and olive about size 16 and damsel patterns all fished on floating lines.New stocks were trickled in late this week so prospects are very good over the coming weeks. A lot of sedge and caenis activity in the evenings but fish have been pretty choosy probably because of the glut of natural food.
Wych Elm
This lake is still fishing very well despite still having too much colour in it. The good news is that the water is clearing and some weed is now growing so the lake should soon get back to normal.
Some good catches these last few days have included rainbow trout of 10lbs and 12lbs. Up to 15 fish a session have been caught despite the bright conditions and best flies have been buzzers, tadpoles, cats whiskers, olives plus of course damsel nymphs. Masses of damsels hatching plus sedges and caenis in the evenings. Fishing should remain good to imitative patterns.
Tewitfields
Again bright conditions have slowed down day time fishing but good catches made in the evenings. Best trout the last few days was 13lbs
Suspender buzzers and small olive or black dries are best but bloodworms and epoxy buzzers and damsel nymphs producing well in cloudier conditions. The lake was restocked yesterday with trout to 15lb introduced so look out.
On the coarse lake fishing is good with good mixed bags including small tench and skimmer bream which shows that fish are breeding well. A few nice carp evident..
Windermere
Plenty of Pike action to mid teens and a lot of these have been falling to lures such as small bulldogs, creek chub pikies and soft tail lures. Also some nice 2 - 3lb trout to worm off the shore but no significant fly catches reported. Roach and perch are moving shallower so in a weeks time when maggot can again be used expect some good catches to ledger at early morning and evenings when fish are in closer.
Rydal and Grasmere
Still fishing well for pike to 18lb with individual bags of over 6 fish reported. As last time most are falling to saltwater deadbaits but spoons such as ondex and small plugs are producing. Plenty of perch activity to worms and killer jigs.
Killington Reservoir
The hot weather has slowed fishing here and customers are reporting that a lot of the lake is covered in a green colored algae so a lot are not fishing but those who have have managed to catch an odd fish or two mainly on worm and buzzers. Todays wind may well have cleared the algae but in any case it should disperse as soon as we get some rain. No reports of any coarse fish being caught.If you fly fish in June make sure you have plenty of big brown foam beetles as these are blowing on. Kentmere Lake
Fishing slower than usual these last few days because of the hot sunny weather and on bright days black fritz lures have produced as have gold head menace varients. On overcast days klinkhammers, f flies and suspender buzzers have been good at the surface and down below bloodworms and headbangers along with damsel nymphs are catching. No reports of any large fish this week.
Ratherheath Tarn
Still fishing well with Carp to 15lb and lots of tench and bream which are still mainly falling to pellets and boilies. Good boilies very recently have been pineapple and peach and tangerine but strawberry isotonic, scopex etc are also doing well. Halibut pellets are sorting out some of the better fish but most pellets or baits fished over a bed of pellets are producing. Dont neglect worms, bread , maggots and meat. This lake is fishing as well if not better than it ever has.
Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
We suspect that all three lakes have been very recently restocked as they have been producing good results perhaps better than could be expected in the weather. Bracken clock beetles are around and Dubbs and Ghyll Head are doing very well on brown foam beetles and size 10 tiger nymphs. Sport is fast and furious but will not last. Buzzer fishing also good along with caenis and sedges in the evenings. For daytime as mentioned beetle patterns, damsel nymphs black olive and fawn buzzers, black hoppers and f flies will give great results on all these waters.
River Kent
The river is very low so there has been very little fishing activity and no sea trout worth fishing for. Fly fishermen have managed a few on gnats, loop wing cdc buzzers, klinkhammers, sedges and spider patterns. Once it rains fishing will again be first class..
Lancaster Canal
Tench fishing is very good between Crooklands and Stainton and baits such as bread, maggots, corn, boilies and worms are producing. Best catches early morning and evenings and best bags are falling to anglers prepared to bait swims. A few maggots for a fishing session will not produce much.
Roach and perch are being caught in the day time and pike fishing is currently good to the roving anglers and some nice specimens have been caught on flies.
New Fishery
A new coarse lake has just opened at Endmoor . At present stocks are mainly a few perch and eels plus a big stock of small carp. permits are available at the shop and the same permits also allow you to fish banks Pond.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
Again the weather has been mixed since the last report with a few showers but mainly hot and sunny but the last two days have seen a bit more cloud cover and cool winds.
Overall fishing is continuing to be very good all round and for coarse fishers we have news of a brand new lake that has just opened very close to Kendal. It is called Gatebeck Tarn and has just been stocked with 1000 small Carp plus some other species.It will be a perfect venue to take young anglers and permits are available from our shop .
Esthwaite Water
The hot weather has caused the fishing to slow down a bit with rod average over the last few days being 2.9 and daytime fishing on sunny days has tended to be very poor. Best trout reported was 5lb and fell to worm fished at the cages. Some anglers have taken up to 11 trout in a session.
Fly fishermen have generally found that orange fritz lures on sinking lines have worked .Grubhole, Weather Bay and the boils are best from the boats whereas shore anglers are doing best at the National Trust Field and opposite the ticket office.
For any method anglers both spinning and ledgered worm will get results and if we get some cloud cover the fish will be up and buzzers will do well for fly anglers. It will also be worth trying damsel nymph patterns and sedge and caenis ones in the evenings.
Farleton View Fishery
The hawthorn flies have now gone and have been replaced by lots of damsel flies and in the evenings the sedges are about plus millions of caenis.
Floating lines best and there are masses of black and some olive buzzers hatching most days so epoxy buzzers, suspender buzzers, Shipmans and cdc patterns are all working well. Keep the sizes down for best results. We spooned fish yesterday and caddis were found among the buzzers so a stick fly fished very deep will also get fish.
A lot of fish in the 2 - 3 lb bracket are being caught and are very silver and in perfect condition and yesterday a lovely 7lb rainbow was taken by a client who I was instructing and released. Expect superb sport over the coming months..
Wych Elm
The water has now turned brown and visibility is very poor. However this has not deterred the trout from biting except on bright sunny days.
Like other waters the hawthorn hatch is over and damsels are more prolific every day along with lots of buzzers and a trickle of olives plus sedges and caenis in the evenings. Bags of up to 12 trout per angler are being taken and generally bloodworm patterns such as head bangers plus buzzers and fritz lures are doing well. Not too much dry fly activity these last few days because of the bright conditions.
Tewitfields
Still fishing very well with up to 15 fish per angler being caught.
Again hawthorns have gone but there are now plenty of damsels, sedges,caenis, beetles etc and on duller days good catches have been taken. Best flies at the moment are suspender buzzers, epoxy type buzzers, shipmans buzzers either black or olive. Size varies a lot and last week we spooned different fish and some had tiny black buzzers, some tiny olive ones and yet another had an equal number of live black and olive buzzers at about size 12 so you need a good variety of sizes. Headbanger bloodworm patterns are very effective at the moment along with klinkhammers and gray dusters. Best trout the last few days was 5lb 3oz.
On the coarse lake plenty of fish are being caught including small carp which are the result of the bigger fish spawning.Maggots, worms, sweet corn and bread are all good baits at present.
Windermere
Not a lot to report this week as very few customers have reported being out and catching. A few pike just into double figures falling to plugs and spoons plus a few smallish trout to rapalas. No roach reports but not many anglers target them until after 16 June when maggot can be used again
Rydal and Grasmere
These lakes are fishing well at present for pike to 14lbs and most are falling to saltwater deadbaits. A few perch reported but most anglers are targetting pike with a few jacks to spoons.
Killington Reservoir
Fishing is reported to have slowed down a bit but most anglers are eventually catching one or two trout on worm, spinner and killer jigs. A few jack pike to spoons and deadbaits. Fly anglers catching on calmer days with buzzers, gnats, orange fritz lures and sedges all taking fish. If you want information about Killington then you should call 015395 68393.
Kentmere Lake
Lots of black buzzers. A few damsels and sedges appearing along with caenis at night. Static and suspender buzzers taking trout to 3lbs and on cloudy breezy days klinkhammers are hammering fish. As usual a static fished head banger can be totally relied on to get your bag.However you need to be very alert as bites are very fast..
Ratherheath Tarn
The superb fishing is still here except on sunny days. Very good bags of bream and tench are still being taken by carp anglers fishing boilies and this week the best flavours seem to have been rosehip or scopex.
Best bream reported was supposed to have been about 9.5lbs !! Plenty of bream in the 5 -6 lb mark with similar sized tench and carp to mid teens. Carp are falling to a big variety of baits including trout and halibut pellets, worms, bread ,boilies and meat. Smaller fish taking maggots although maggot and flavourder corn are also taking tench. .
Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
Generally customers have reported the fishing to be hard except for late evenings because of the very hot bright conditions. Buzzers, olives, damsels, klinkhammers and beetle patterns are all producing. We have heard that there are already some bracken clocks at Ghyll Head so get those tiger nymphs out for none stop action.High Newton will probably give the best evening sport with caenis patterns, sedges and shipmans buzzers. In day time small black dry flies will produce well in cloudy conditions. At Dubbs buzzers and olives are doing great opposite the dam.
River Kent
Water levels have dropped right away despite a small lift a few days ago.After the good fishing of 2 weeks ago it has got a little more difficult and not many anglers out. However some nice trout being taken mainly on worm and on black magic varients, pheasant tail nymphs and olive klinkhammers and black foam beetles. Not much to report on the Sea Trout front although there are a few in the river. Its generally June before that fishing kicks off ground.
Lancaster Canal
The excellent tench fishing is continuing with up to 22 fish in a sitting being taken and best times have been dawn to about 8.00am and then again during the last couple of hours. Plenty of fish to 4lbs reported. Most tench baits such as bread, corn, maggots, worms and small boilies are working and as usual the better catches are coming to anglers feeding their swims. A few roach and perch for day time angler splus plenty of jack pike to anglers spinning and also fly fishing.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
At last the weather is picking up and after a very cold start at the beginning of this report period and torrential rain we are now experiencing warm weather at about 18c and it is generally overcast. Perfect conditions for all fishing.
Esthwaite Water
In the warmer weather there are big hatches of buzzer and on the duller days fish were taking the emergers at the surface. On other days pupa versions such as epoxy buzzers are producing to the static indicator and general nymphs such as gold ribbed hares ear, daiwl bach and ptn are also working well.
There have been up to 15 fish per angler with a rod average of 4.1 and best trout so far this week is 4lb 12 oz.
Best areas at present are the grubhole, the swimming pool, and the cages for boat anglers. Bank anglers doing best at the car park, the boat house and the National Trust Field. Prospects remain excellent especially for fishing imitative flies. Make sure you have some hawthorn patterns if there is a breeze and black polyribbed buzzers are superb flies to use during a fall of hawthorns. .
Farleton View Fishery
Since the weather warmed up the fishing can be best described as explosive with anglers taking up to 19 fish on buzzers.The hatches have to be seen to be believed and both black and olive are present with black outnumbering the olives. The damsel nymphs are starting to get active and lots of hawthorn flies are falling onto the lake. Also good olive hatches around mid day and a lot of very early daddy long legs have been evident. The lake is alive with tadpoles.
Successful flies at present are cdc buzzers, epoxy buzzers, shuttle cock buzzers, bloodworm and headbangers, damsel nymphs and tadpoles plus of course hawthorn patterns.Expect this great fishing to continue. The secret in this clear water is to fish light and generally very small flies.
Wych Elm
The lake is still very green but the fishing remains good and lots of buzzers around and black gnats and a trickle of olives. Expect the olive hatches to improve over the next week or two and at mid day if there is a breeze a size 14 olive klinkhammer will take a lot of beating. This applies equally to other local waters.
Best fish in the last few days was a magnificent 15lb over wintered rainbow taken by Roy Anderson. This fish which was taken on a buzzer was returned unharmed.. Bags of up to 8 fish per angler are being taken with buzzer feauturing highly in the catches along with cats whisker, black gnat and black and silver ribbed nymphs. Damsel nymphs are now stirring and the nymph plus the menace varient will give great sport.One brown trout has been caught. Rod average this week is 2.7fish.
Tewitfields
Tewitfields is still on fire and there have been huge hatches of black buzzer with plenty of hawthorns but not enough breeze to drift them onto the water. The first damsel flies have been evident these last two days and I actually saw a lone mayfly yesterday.
Rod average is currently 5.7 and best individual bag was 29 rainbows to 6lb on suspender buzzers and hawthorn flies. Blood worms and headbanger versions are also very sucessful along with damsels and black gnats. In fact any small black flies are producing especially tiny klinkhammers.Lures still producing fish and these last couple of days mainly bright silver over wintered fish have been evident.
On the coarse lake good bags are now being taken in the warmer weather including roach and rudd on bread and sweetcorn on the bottom.Maggots are getting plenty of smaller fish.Best fish has been taken by a lady angler who took a magnificent carp of over 20 lb.
The junior club is doing well with plenty of youngsters turning up on saturdays and they are mainly catching which is very encouraging.soon start appearing in the c
Windermere
The pike fishing is now improving again but mainly for the boat anglers with plenty of fish but customers have not reported anything large with top limit in low teens. Lures are now working well and large sppons and medium plus plus bull dawgs are taking nice fish and several customers reported catching up to 6 pike in a session. No news on the roach and perch and only a few trout reported but nothing outstanding..
Rydal and Grasmere
Both lakes improving with plenty of fish to mid teens and while dead baits are doing best probably because most anglers are using this method , there have been some nice jack sized fish taken on spoons particularly from Rydal. One angler caught a very good sized trout but it was not in the best of condition.
Killington Reservoir
At last the fishing has improved dramatically no doubt due to a probable recent restocking. Good trout are being taken on worms popped up,small tobies and medium sized mepps and vibrax etc. Some anglers now fly fishing now that the strong winds have died and results have been excellent with buzzers, hawthorns and black tadpoles all doing well. Expect this good fishing to contine throughout the season. No reports of coarse fish other than pike which are taking spoons fished for trout. Big buzzer hatches are still the norm and a few olives, early damsels and hawthorn flies are very evident. Buzzers such as suspender and shipmans, mainly black are doing well in light ripple and epoxy buzzers, headbangers and bloodworms still giving terrific bags. On cloudy days dry hawthorns, black gnats and small klinkhammers and f lies doing well. Best lures are menace varients , cats whiskers and dawsons olives.Best fish reported was about 4lbs.
Ratherheath Tarn
On the cloudier days the tarn has fished very well for tench, bream and carp and yet again boilies are accounting for a lot of these fish. Even larger 15mm boilies aimed at carp are producing superb bream and tench to over 6lbs. Hard pellets also getting carp and small soft flavoured pellets are pulling the fish in along with worms. Maggots still attracting smaller fish but they will virtually guarantee some fish even in hard sunny conditions.
Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
The fishing has settled down after the last stocking we reported and anglers who only fish sinking lines and lures are struggling especially at Dubbs. However angler who read the water and see the good buzzer and olive hatches report tremendous sport. This applies to Ghyll Head and High Newton. Anglers using buzzers either emerging or pupa patterns are doing well and olive nymphs and olive klinkhammers are effective at Ghyll Head at present.
Dont venture out without hawthorn patterns and also damsel nymphs. Beeetles in black and brown are also doing well when there is a breeze. High Newton is still fishing well to the floating line and small black buzzers, f flies, hoppers etc plus the poly ribbed buzzers when hawthorns have landed. damsel nymphs will work more and more in the coming weeks on all these 3 waters. .
River Kent
The river has just received a stocking and there was a good lift last week and a small one today.
The fly only restriction has now lifted so worm and spinners can be used and this week good bags of brownies have fallen to these methods. Fly anglers are also doing well and best patterns this week have beenhawthorns, black klinkhammers, olive klinkhammers, brown and black beetles, olive nymphs and olive woven nymphs. Good sport should be expected over the rest of this month.
Sea trout anglers may well benefit from the two rises this last week as some sea trout will now be in the river in the usual places but they may be thin on the ground.
Lancaster Canal
Fishing very well for Tench between Crooklands and Stainton but very few anglers have been out. maggots, worm and corn have been best baits this week in conjunction with plenty of groundbait including hemp and corn. Best times have been early and late but roach have responded to day time anglers. Roving fishermen having sport with small pike to small spoons such as ondex.

INTERNET FISHING REPORT
As usual we have experienced a very mixed bag of weather since the last report. Last weekend was very hot for the time of year with 19c and mainly unbroken sunshine. But yesterday it all changed with a cold northern wind and about 13c and this cool weather will be with us for the next few days
Esthwaite Water
The warm weather last week produced a rod average of 9.8 which is excellent.The warmer weather and water produced huge hatches of buzzers and fish responded well by taking the emergers at the surface. Sub surface good bags have been taken on buzzer pupa and various nymphs. Sucessful flies have included buzzers, gold rib hares ear nymphs and daiwl bachs.
Any method from the boats has been good and spinners and worms have both worked well.Best areas at present for boats are the Grubhole and around the cages. Although it is cooler now buzzers will still be hatching in big quantities so make sure you have emerger patterns like suspender, Shipman,cdc etc. If fish are not showing then very slowly fish pupa patterns like epoxy, blakestone, flexi, blushing buzzer etc. Black is generally best.
Best fish in the last few days was 4lb 7 oz and 4lb 2oz.
Farleton View Fishery
The lake is still gin clear and the hatches of buzzers have to be seen to be believed. Most buzzers at black but there are also a few olive ones about. Corixa are everywhere and damsel nymphs are starting to move. A few olives are hatching and in the next few days look out for the first really big invasion of the hawthorn flies. When the hawthorns start to drop surface activity will be manic but often the trout are difficult to hook. We find one of the very best flies to use anywhere during hawthorn time is a black polyribbed buzzer. Just try them to see what we mean !!!!
Plenty of nice trout close to double figures are being caught with very good numbers around the 4lb mark. Several big brownies have turned up recently and were not stocked at that size so it really shows how much food is available at this lake. Best bags are coming to epoxy and blakestone buzzers, suspender buzzers, shipmans and f fly . Damsel nymphs also producing along with menace varients. Prospects for the next two weeks are very good especially for top of the water fishing.
Wych Elm
Still fishing well although the water is still tinged greeny brown. Again loads of black buzzers are hatching and at mid day a few olives putting in an appearance. Patterns to try are basically those we have reported on for Farleton View. In the last few days for some reason lures especially black and green tadpoles have produced some quality fish to 10lb. Cats whisker is also working well. Most of the bigger catches are falling to buzzers with up to 12 fish per angler on this method. Damsel nymphs will now be starting to appear in bigger numbers so this nymph will be well worth fishing from now onwards and never be without the headbanger which over the year produces some relly big catches and seems to sort out bigger fish.
Tewitfields
The rod average has now increased to 6.89 and in the last two weeks 34 fishover 4lbs have been caught including trout of 6lb 7oz, 7lb 3oz, 8lb, 8lb 2oz with the best fish at 9lb 3oz.
We are now seeing the switch from sinking lines to floating lines with the massive buzzer hatches and small black buzzer patterns and small black dries such as klinkhammer and f fly are giving great bags of up to 37 fish per angler. Look out for hawthorn flies and get those black polyrib buzzers out. This fat scruffy fly really looks like the real thing to the fish. Damsels will be becoming more active so if nothing is showing try the nymphs on the floating line.
On the coarse lake the junior coarse fishing got underway last weekend with 15 youngsters attending and all caught.Bigger carp are now showing and if the weather warms they should soon start appearing in the catches..
Windermere
There has still been a lot of bank fishing pressure resulting in the fish not cooperating too well but boat fishing for Pike has improved with Pike to 15lb falling to deadbaits and also bulldawgs and similar lures. Water is still a bit cool to really get the perch and roach well into the shallows but as we get nearer summer then the roach and perch fishing will be brilliant.
Trout fishing is pretty slow with odd fish to 5lb falling to top liners using rapalas. Fly fishing as always these last few years continues to be very poor.
Rydal and Grasmere
Fishing has again improved on these two lakes and angling activity at the moment is still mainly concentrated on pike and deadbaits have produced fish to over 20lbs. Lure fishing is also working for those anglers roaming the shore line and Kussumo professors, Ondex and creek chub have all worked.
Killington Reservoir
Last weeks warmer weather at last brought out more anglers and customers report seeing fish being stocked just over a week ago so prospects are now very good. On the odd warmer day trout were spotted in frentic buzzer feeding moaods at the surface and all that is needed in those conditions is a vees suspender buzzer or shipmans in black fished on a long 4lb leader.
Worm anglers are now catching a few trout and bar spoons like mepps and droppen are also doing well. Fish should be getting more spread out now so it could be worth exploring the banks with spinners until you find the smaller shoals. No reports this week on roach, perch or pike activity. Kentmere Lake
Excellent buzzer fishing and on the warmer days when it has been calmer emerger fishing has been first rate using vees suspender buzzers, blakestone buzzers f fly and other cdc buzzers. On the cooler days there have still been some good hatches but the epoxy buzzers, blakestone buzzers, flexi buzzers etc have done very well just drifted around. Do not pull them fast - this works on new stock but not on the fish feeding naturally. Bloodworm patterns are still working well especially size 12 beaded marabou ones and for some reason the headbanger is still featuring in many catches reported to us by customers. Like all lakes be ready for the hawthorns in the next few days.

The tarn continued to fish very well prior to the hot sunny conditions last wekend which dramatically slowed daytime fishing. prior to that good bags of tench and bream to 6lb reported on a variety of baits including maggots, small boilies and small soft flavoured pellets.Carp showing well to mid teens again on a mixture of baits including boilies, expander pellets and worm. Gudgeon everywhere to single maggot so if you are taking kids target them and they will have a great time.
Dubbs , Ghyll Head and High Newton Reservoirs
Anglers have reported that the lakes seem to have had another stocking as lots are turning up to intermediate lines and lures such as black and green tadpoles, cats whisker, menace varient, goldhead dawsons olive, minkies etc. Good buzzer hatches on all these lakes with a few olives reported at Ghyll head.If you catch them hatching and trout are splashy try a size 14 olive klinkhammer for great results. On calmer days the black suspender buzzer, shipman buzzer and cdcs are doing well especially if there is some cloud cover. Expect the hawthorns in big numbers usually starting around this weekend. .
River Kent
Just over a week ago we had a large spate but the river has fallen back into excellent fly order and customers have reported that Kent Angling Association have just restocked their stretch so fishing should improve. Remember that it is fly only until 1 may then you can spin and worm as well as fly fish.
As mentioned in our last report the Environment Agency are holding a junior fishing session at Watercrook on 2 May and all juniors are welcome to attend free and all tackle is provided so if you know anyone who wants to try fishing but who has no gear take them down to Watercrook car park, Kendal before 10.00am.
Dark olives are hatching on the river and look out for black gnats and hawthorns.
Lancaster Canal
Very few anglers out but those who are going especially early and late in the day are getting rewarded with good bags of quality tench. To take advantage of this good fishing rake and feed your swim. For hook bait you will not go wrong with maggots, sweet corn, worms or 10mm boilies. They love them all. For daytime pleasure fishing try maggot for the small roach or worms for the Perch.Pike fishing is steady but best results are coming to anglers who are roaming the banks with plugs.
