Subject: Job-Search
Dear Sir or Madam. I am writing to ask if there might be a vacant position for a practical trainee in your company from April 2003 to July 2003. I am 19 years old and a German student majoring this year. Then I have to complete service in the military (9 month). In a company such as yours, I believe I could acquire insight any field. Furthermore, I worked for many weeks during my vacations, where I also gained considerable practical working experience. The importance of international mobility for students is becoming more and more emphasized and I am very eager to gain practical experience by working abroad. This will not only help to improve prospects for my future professional career, but will allow me to learn more about your country and culture as well. I have studied English for 9 years . I can speak, read and write English rather fluently. I also understand French, I´ve studied it for 2 years. My salary requirements are negotiable. In case you can find a placement for me in your company, I would be interested to know your terms of acceptance. I intend to apply for my visa documents (IAP-66 forms for practical training / Australia´s Working Holiday Maker Program) through the Council on International Educational Exchange in Germany. I would very much welcome the opportunity to do my internship with your company and would appreciate your prompt reply. Thank you very much for your help.
Yours faithfully Nils Holger Teske

Subject: Seasons prospects for NZ's South Island
Our new season opens on the 1st October. At the present lakes are low but the rivers are starting to get a little fuller as the Winter snow pack starts to melt. We had a very good snow season this Winter and this will be needed as we finished last season with an unpresidented drought and low water conditions as a result. Despite this the fishing was fantastic. There were a record number of trophy trout landed by clients this year with the very best one going to Scott Ohman. Stewart Merrill from Alaska landed two double figure Brownies from one pool! This was exceptional fishing. This year we are starting our guiding season right on opening day October 1st! The diary is looking good (from my point of view) but there is still plenty of spaces available if you want to plan that fishing trip of a life-time. I cater to to all levels of experience, from none to expert and tuition is part of the service I provide. I specialise in Wilderness Fishing where we fly by helicopter to a remote location although some of our fishing can be accessed by my very comfortable 4WD Toyota Landcruiser. Great food, great fishing, great company and a fantastic experience are assured. Visit my website for more information. It is www.chappie.co.nz or contact me by email at fishinchappie@xtra.co.nz Come and experience the best fly fishing you will find anywhere in the World! |

Subject: Team Backcountry
New Zealand has endured a hot dry summer, yet the second seeding in consecutive years of the beech forest, has produced mice and rat population explosions.... The result this year was large numbers of large Brown Trout (10 lbs+). Check out these photos caught on our Backcountry Tours this season.

Subject: Winter fishing in Canterbury
The Canterbury High Country Lakes have a Winter Season from 1st June to 30th September, this is an ideal time to avoid the crowds and learn fly fishing skills while taking advantage of off-peek rates for accommodation and guides.
While most of the brown trout become inactive in mid winter the rainbow trout are a lot more active as they don't spawn until later on in spring and continue to feed over the winter months. Landlocked salmon are also an option in Lake Coleridge during winter.
For fly fishing try lure-type flies like Mrs Simpson, Hamill's Killer or Woolly Buggers cast with a floating line over lake shallows. Remember to get the lure down close to the lake bed where the fish will be feeding. At night try luminous fly patterns, don't expect many hit's but look-out when you do !
During winter there are many low country rivers available to fish, such as the Waimakariri & Rakaia river in the lower reaches, try spin fishing for small trout or wet fly lures on a sinking line.
Remember to get a fishing license and read the fishing guide carefully if you decide to try alone or better still hire a guide it will save you a lot of time and you will learn local techniques.
If you would like to hire a guide or have any questions you can visit our web site at: http://www.kowhai.co.nz
