LAKE WEISS IS DOWN 1.4 FEET STAINED AND 86 DEGREES

For Reports On Other Area Lakes Please Visit www.havefunfishing.com

Bass fishing is fair and the deep water patterns are producing the largest catches ! The upper part of the Chattaooga River is producing alot of bass right now, most are Spotted Bass from 1 to 3 pounds with the occasional Largemouth in the 2 to 5 pound range, the Shad have moved into it in huge schools, a shallow running crank bait in chartreuse worked on the ledges is a great bait for alot of action, a 3/8 ounce Oldham white spinnerbait with silver double willow blades is also catching fish. The bass in the Coosa river are shallow in the log jams ,flipping a pig and jig or a texas rigged tube will produce some good largemouth. Some fish are schooling in the creek mouths like Mud creek and ballplay creek a shallow to medium running crank bait in chartreuse like a fat free shad is producing fish in the creek mouths. The fish in the main lake are still deep. The deep water patterns will last for the next several months ! Some are still under docks that have 4 feet or more of water under them. Slow roll a 1/2 ounce Oldham spinner bait in chartreuse and white with silver double willow blades or a carolina rig with a Zoom big dead ringer in Junebug. Stroking a brown 3/8 ounce stanley jig with a Zoom chunk in pumpkin seed is producing some good fish, crank baits are producing some fish also use a DD14 or a DD22 in a shad pattern. Target ledges that have 8 feet of water or more on top in the main lake !
. The spotted bass have moved to points, humps and the old river channels use a Fat Free Shad crank bait in citrius shad color or a 1/2 ounce Oldham spinnerbait in chartreuse and white. Use a All Pro Rod APX Series 6 feet 10 inch medium heavy action for spinner baits and their 7 foot 6 inch or 8 foot ultra light APX flippin stick. www.allprorods.com

Crappie fishing is fair. Most fish have moved back to the river channel drops and can be caught bumping bottom with minnows, usa a 3/4 ounce weight on your main line and come up 16 inches and tie a hook and leader, fish the dropoff and look for any structure on the drop, target the 12-16 feet range in the Little river and Chattooga river area. Night fishing under lights in the same areas is producing some good catches also Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .

Striper fishing is good and the stripers are in the Cave Hole in Little river, Alot of fish are moving back into the Chattooga river and Little Spring creek looking for cooler moving water with more oxygen, night fishing has started to pick up with some good catches from 11:00 pm - 4:00 am. With the low oxygen levels expect the best fishing very early am and late pm, but a good rain should turn them back on again. Fish the old river channels in the Chattooga river and Little river. Use live shad on a down line 8 to 12 feet deep and work the drop off from 12 feet down to 25 feet. Look for the schools of stripers on your fish finder and adjust your bait depth to get it a foot or so above them. Use a All Pro Rods Striper Special APX series. www.allprorods.com

Catfish are biting great. The catfish are biting all over the lake and they are being caught by jug fishermen and people fishing off of docks are really catching alot of fish on Chicken livers and night crawlers, use cut shad or live bream for the bigger fish and fish the main coosa river below the big bridge in Cedar Bluff.

Come fish with me on Weiss Lake, Alabama The Crappie Capital of the World and Striper Capital of the South for a fishing trip of a life time !
Thank you and have fun fishing.

Bass fishing is good. The Bass are still deep. Some are being caught down to 20 feet deep and this is almost unheard of on lake Weiss! With the hot weather and lack of rain the lake is getting very low oxygen levels, the fish are getting lazy and soft plastics are producing best. Striper fishing is good. The stripers are in the main lake , Alot of fish are moving back into the Chattooga river and Little Spring creek looking for cooler moving water with more oxygen. Fishing has been fair for the last week with catches of 8 to 14 per half day trip, night fishing has started to pick up with some good catches from 11:00 pm - 4:00 am. With the low oxygen levels the stripers are slowing down also, but a good rain should turn them back on again. Fish the old river channels in the Chattooga river and Little river and the Coosa river, the point of Yellow creek where it meets the Coosa river has been a great producer the past week. Use live shad on a down line 8 to 12 feet deep and work the drop off from 12 feet down to 25 feet.Look for the schools of stripers on your fish finder and adjust your bait depth to get it a foot or so above them. Bass fishing is good. The largemouth are shallow and most are done spawning . The Grass is green and fish that have spawned are using it . Use a 3/8 ounce Strike King Spinner bait in firetiger with gold colorado or double willow blades in the grass or a 3/8 ounce black and blue Stanely jig with a Gene Lerew salt craw trailer in june bug color or a 4 inch tube rigged texas style in june bug. A 6 inch Zoom lizard is also working well. Try shallow rip rap and sea walls and any docks in the backs of spawning bays.

Crappie fishing is good. The spawn is over and most fish have moved back to the river channel drops and can be caught bumping bottom with minnows, usa a 3/4 ounce weight on your main line and come up 16 inches and tie a hook and leader, fish the dropoff and look for any structure on the drop, target the 12-16 feet range in the Little river and Chattooga river area. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .

Striper fishing was bad this week. The stripers are up the rivers on there spawning run. Use a white buck tail jig in 3/8 ounce with a white 3 or 4 inch sassy shad trailer or fish cut shad on the bottom in the upper Etowah river and the Chattooga rivers. Use a All Pro Rods Striper Special APX series. Look for sharp bends in the river and shoal areas, fish the inside of the bends and below the shoals. www.allprorods.com

Catfish are biting great. Alot of fish are being caught on jugs in the bays, use cut shad or live bream for the bigger fish

Come fish with me on Weiss Lake, Alabama The Crappie Capital of the World and Striper Capital of the South for a fishing trip of a life time !

Bass fishing is good. The fish are shallow and showing the first signs of spawning. We are seeing alot of fish roaming shallow sea walls and shallow rip rap banks. Use a 3/8 ounce Strike King Spinner bait in firetiger with gold colorado blades or a 3/8 ounce black and blue Stanely jig with a Gene Lerew salt craw trailer in june bug color or a 4 inch tube rigged texas style in june bug. Try shallow rip rap and sea walls and any docks in the backs of spawning bays. Use a All Pro Rod APX Series 6 feet 10 inch medium heavy action for spinner baits and their 7 foot 6 inch or 8 foot ultra light APX flippin stick. www.allprorods.com Use Ande premium clear monofilament in 12 pound test for crank baits and 14 pound test for spinner baits.

Crappie fishing is good. The fish are under docks that have 5 feet of water or more under them. The cool nights are keeping the water temps down and is holding the fish back from spawning. Use a 1/32 ounce JR's jig in solid gray or red, black, chartreuse flip it under the docks in the darkest parts, use a hi vis line like Ande premium in Envy green color, use a falling technique and watch for your line to jump when a fish strike Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action . Use Ande Premium monofilament in 6 pound test, Envy green or clear color. We personal use the Envy green color Daily. www.andemonofilament.com

Striper fishing was good this week. The stripers have started moving up the rivers on there spawning run. A few smaller fish are still being caught in the mouths of the feeder rivers. Alot of fish are being caught behind plant Hammond and at the Lock and Dam in Rome, Georgia. Use a white buck tail jig in 3/8 ounce with a white 3 or 4 inch sassy shad trailer behind the Lock and Dam or fish cut shad on the bottom in the Coosa river and the Chattooga rivers. Use a All Pro Rods Striper Special APX series with Ande premium monofilament in 20 pound test. Look for sharp bends in the river and shoal areas, fish the inside of the bends and below the shoals.

Catfish are biting great. More big cats were caught this week , some off of docks and alot off jugs. Use crappie heads or rib cages and make sure to use a quality line like Ande Premium in 25 or 30 pound test. Target the marina's where all the crappie are being cleaned.

Bass fishing is good. After a slow weekend the bass have started biting again. The cold weather moved the fish out deeper, but they are still catchable.Target ditch lines and old creek channels and secondary points in the spawning bays, fish the 4 to 8 feet range using a Rat L Trap in chrome and blue, a flat sided crankbait like a Flat A or a B Flat in solid white or white with a chartreuse belly. If the fish are not active enough for those lures use a !/2 ounce Oldham Spinner bait in white and chartreuse with double willow blades , slow roll it near the bottom, or try a slow lift and fall technique. Use a All Pro Rod APX series in their crank bait line or a 6 feet 10 inch medium heavy action for spinner baits. www.allprorods.com Use Ande premium clear monofilament in 12 pound test for crank baits and 14 pound test for spinner baits.

Crappie fishing is great. After a slow weekend the crappie have really turned back on the last few days ! Most fish are still in 10-25 feet of water but some fish have started moving back shallow in the spawning bays. The Little River area is hot right now target the main river channel from the junction of the Chattooga River to Little Spring Creek. The fish are in the middle of the channel in the morning and moving to the flats later in the day. Slow trolling JR's jigs in red, yellow, yellow and red, black, chartreuse will produce some fast action. On a trip today 3-29-06 we had 8 fish on at one time and I was only using 10 rods !
The fish are really moving around fast and I look for them to go shallow fast, as the water warms in the next few days. Use a quality trolling rod like All Pro Rods Slab Slayer series or the Float and Fly series. Use Ande Premium monofilament in 6 pound test, Envy green or clear color. I personal prefer the Envy green color. www.andemonofilament.com

Alot of fish are being caught behind plant Hammond and at the Lock and Dam in Rome, Georgia. Fish cut shad on the bottom in the Coosa river and the Chattooga rivers. Use a All Pro Rods Striper special APX series with Ande premium monofilament in 20 pound test. Look for sharp bends in the river and shoal areas, fish the inside of the bends and below the shoals.
