Subject: Sacramento River Stripers & Trout
May is prime time for striped bass on the Sacramento River in the Colusa-Princeton area. The stripers spawning migration should peak during the next several weeks. Look for lots of schoolies(4-8 lb. males) and some monster hens that that can go from 20-50+ pounds. Trolling, fly fishing, cut bait and live minnows all work. My favorite method is boondoggling or back-bouncing with live minnows. You can cover maximum water and when you hit the schools, the action is non-stop. It's not unusual for anglers to hook 10-15 fish per rod. Rainbow trout fishing on the Sacramento River (Redding area) is also real good. Our last trip on Sunday produce consistant action on both bait & plugs including two nice trophys that were over 5 pounds. Shad fishing is just starting & salmon season opens on July 16th. If you need any additional information, or would like to book a trip, please visit our site at www.salmonandsteelhead.com. |

Subject: Bass Photo
This is a picture of a bass Dan Johnson found Oakdale,CA. Dan caught this largemouth on Lake Don Pedro in Northern CA. The fish is personal best for Dan. The fish is 28in long and 21in around. The fish weighted 14lb and 8oz. Was caught on a white brush hog with 12lb Excel line. Dan released the fish in good health. Dan and I have been fishing the lake for several years. |
