Subject: Walleye Records Mostly Vacant

News Release

International Game Fish Association
Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum
300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach, Florida 33004 USA Phone (954) 927-2628 |Fax (954) 924-4299 E-mail: IGFAHQ@aol.com Website: www.igfa.org

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WALLEYE RECORDS MOSTLY VACANT

Do you want to get your name in the IGFA Record Book? Go walleye fishing. The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) now maintains line class state records for walleye in 19 states. The three line classes for which state records are kept are 4 lb., 12 lb. and 20 lb. class. More line classes will be added in the future.

The three line class record categories for walleye are totally vacant in 15 of the 19 states. Mike Leech, President of IGFA said, “The reason so many record categories are vacant for walleye is not because of lack of enthusiasm for walleye fishing, but rather the lack of information on IGFA’s state freshwater line class program. We are trying to let the public know about this relatively new program so more anglers can have the thrill of catching a record, receiving a beautiful IGFA record certificate and their name listed in the annual IGFA record book as well as the IGFA member newsletter.”

The record program recognized 5 of each states most popular freshwater species. The states in which walleye are recognized are: Colorado; Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Kansas; Maryland; Michigan; Minnesota; Montana; Nebraska; New York; North Dakota; Ohio; Oregon; Pennsylvania; South Dakota; Washington; West Virginia; Wisconsin; and Wyoming. There are 50 vacant walleye records waiting to be filled among those states and the minimum size required to submit a record is 1 pound.

All IGFA state freshwater records are listed on the IGFA website, which is www.igfa.org. There is also a record application form which can be printed from the site. In keeping with IGFA’s decades long tradition of promoting catch and release, anglers do not have to kill the fish in order to submit a world record. The fish can be weighed on a certified scale, photographed, measured and released alive.

The IGFA state line class record program is separate from the all tackle record program in each state where rules may vary from state to state.

IGFA is a non-profit conservation and record keeping organization with members in over 115 countries and territories. Its headquarters are located in the 60,000 square foot IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum in Dania Beach, Florida. For further information contact IGFA at 300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach, FL 33004. Phone (954) 927-2628 " Fax: (954) 924-4299 " E-mail: IGFAHQ@aol.com " Website: www.igfa.org.

Subject: Stick Marsh/Farm 13

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 11/15/01
Water Temperature: 69
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

At 4AM it was windy and raining. The weatherman predicted winds 20-25 and gusting with 50% chance of rain. Off to the lake we went for a 1/2 day trip in search of Mr. Bass.

We got a late start but there were only two boats in the water when we got there. Only a mild drizzle but there was a bit of a wind out of the WNW. Heading for the running water at the spillway on Farm 13 we had a smooth ride until we hit the SE end of the Farm but there was nothing severe.

Digging out Carolina rigs, soft jerk bait rigs, and a jig or two we commenced fishing. The best bait was the Carolina rig although a few were gotten with a jig tipped with a smoke shad. The worst rain we saw was a steady drizzle and the sun broke out as the sky cleared at about 10:30. Heading for the ramp at 11:30 after a successful morning with 21 fish we decided that it was indeed good to ignore the weatherman and go fishing.

See you on the water: Want to know how the Stick Marsh stacked up creel wise over the last few years? http://www.imaginationbassin.com/Creel.htm

I think you will find the survey quite interesting. Say hi as you go by.

George & Scott Welcome are full time guides and full time fishermen on Stick Marsh/Farm 13. Our goal is to share these fantastic areas and our love for the sport. Two boats allow us to accommodate to six people. Contact us; you will be glad you did!

Subject: Florida Largemouth Bass

I had two good days of fishing at the FP&L with Sam Fergarson on Sat. and Bill Nagy and Bob on Sun.Even though both days were very windy we managed to catch 30 + bass each day.The largest we had on was a 9lb., we caught 2- 5's 6- 4's and alot of 2-3 lb. bass. Most of the bass were caught on zara spooks and spinnersbaits. If anyone is looking for a great day of fishing this is it. It costs $150 a day per boat for up to three people in a boat, this is a donation to the United Way. The water is gin clear and there is fish everywhere and your only allowed to fish it 5 times a year. The months are Sept. Nov. Jan. April and July. For more information or if you would like to go and don't have a boat contact me at my website or e-mail. Good Fishin' Capt.Frank

Subject: Peacock Bass Fishing

Peacock Bass fishing is good all year round. This fish is a much harder fighting species from Amozon then it's cousin the Largemouth. The nice thing about fishing South Florida is that during your stay you can fish for both if so desired. Another fishing adventure is The Everglades for Largemouth which you can also catch Peacock's at times. For more Information visit our website at www.marksport.com/sponsors/Hawghunter
