Subject: Stick Masrh report
Hello Friends - The last three days have been busy for our clients reeling in plenty of bass. The guide did catch 1 bass in three trips. The clients over 80 bass. 4 trophy 10 pound fish and 2 nine pounders a half a dozen 8, 7, and 6 pound bass each were in the total. That's quality bassin folk's. The compound is very consistent and producing. Now two of the last three trips were half a day adventures. Add it all up and that's some great fishing. If your planning on a Florida trophy bass fishing trip you should come to the Stickmarsh/Farm13 compound. Again we did all this on live wild golden shiners in what now is turning out to be the uncrowded farm 13 south end. No secrets here folk's we are not moving north until the big gals do. All of the Trophy bass we landed and most of the 8 and 9 pound bass caught were beat up on there sides with raw spots on the bottom of there tails and egged out. The marks on the sides come from the males slapping the eggs out. The tails get marked from fanning. The girls looked a little tired but fought hard and were released unharmed. The water temps are all ready in the low eighties and worming has picked up drastically. We will be backing off the shiners and throwing more plastic in the near future. A good mix and match is in order now. The S. W. corner in farm 13 never produced a trophy bass for us this season. Now we did not spend a lot of time fishing there but when we did it never seemed to hold big bass for us. The truly big bass have all come on the far south end of farm13 near the end of all three n/s ditches. Fish close to the ditch edges and use plenty of bait. Yes, a simple technique with an easy location. No rocket science just a great fishery. The artificial guys can come and catch a ton right now. The big bass hit worms too. Senko's and one of the many knock off's (chompers, wave, stik-o, sink-o, Kinami , and Jogger) come in a variety of colors and sizes. They all work well. Some are longer and some are fatter some sink slower but in the end they will produce well as a group. Fill your box and come to the stickmarsh and try them all. My bet says you catch bass on all of them. Hydrilla is taking over some of the South end of farm13. The bass have moved out from shore and some to the stickmarsh side. We will test fish a few days near twin palms and in Pandora's box to get a feel for just what type of quality can be caught there. Last season we hammered them in there. It was the best fishing by far for us mid February thru late May. The winds have settled down and the sun popped out. Sun tan lotion is mandatory so is plenty of water. Mornings better than afternoons. So spool them up and cast them out nows the time to catch a bunch of bass.

Subject: New Moon shiner talking....
Hello Friends - My guest for tHhe past two days have really been on some bass. They came to Florida to shiner fish for a monster bass and the stickmarsh produced just that for them today. The big girl weighed 12 lbs 1 ounce. It was the largest bass they ever caught. The two day total out of the three days they will spend fishing with us is just over 60 bass. Tomorrow we will try and top that. Believe it or not folks it is possible to do it in this fishery. The plan will be 10 dozen and lots of rods. Parking close to deep water should pay off. Yes, we are on the South end of farm13 every day. Shiners bring the big girls out to play consistently this time of year. Increase your odds and book a trip with an experienced shiner guide November thru April and you to could catch that dream bass. Now live shiners work year round but for us the bait and the bite is best during these months. Remember to fish with whoever you like just bring the best bait for the job when your on a lunker hunt during this time of year. The big girl was fooled with the shiner hooked in the tail. Yes, we made that shiner splash and it really attracted a big one...

Subject: Another Big Bass!
Hello Friends - Sundays catch was just what it should have been. If you have been to or followed my reports on my website you know that I rave about the new moon days and how big bass are always caught on these prime days following the very dark nights. Well, today my guest who booked a trip based on this info banged a nice 10lbs 5 ounce bass. Congrats to Dean Eberts and his new trophy bass. Deans bass measured 27 inches by 18 and weighed 10 lb. on the spring scale. She was partially egged out. Man she could have gone 11 to 11 1/2 two weeks ago. We took the spring scale weight and averaged it with the formula weight and came up with 10lbs 5 ounces. It's always a great idea to measure every lunker bass to compare the formula result's with whatever scale you might use. The measurements can be used along with a good photo to make a perfect replica to hang on your wall without harming the bass. Dean can't wait to get his replica. The bass was hanging out in the South end of farm13 very close to thick hydrilla. Live wild and fairly small shiners did the trick. You take what you can get as far as live bait goes these days. Yes, even the small shiners can produce well on these days. The water temp was 73 and winds 5 to 10mph . We fished 300 yards from the South shore and landed 25 bass before moving closer to were we caught Deans trophy. The road was in great shape and the main parking lot was not full. If your planning on fishing this season bring it on. You to could hook up with that trophy you have been dreaming about. A great presentation in the deeper water was a free line shiner. Capt. Subject: John's Best Bass!
Water temps rising 73 + Winds Blowing 5 to 15mph Clarity Variable Shiners Poor and mostly small
Hello friends - Wayne and John returned for a half a day of shiner fishing in hunt of a big one. BAM! John landed a new personal best mini lunker at 8lbs plus.. Depending on who's scale we used it weighed in between 8lbs 2 ounces and 9lbs 8 ounces. No matter what the weight it was a real nice bass and Johns largest to date. Now we only had small semi lively shiners and just 3 hours of water time for the bait to get the big one. The Stickmarsh is producing big fish and this is a clear example of just how realistic a great catch can be in this fishery. Timing is the key and when everything goes right it does not take long to bang a big one. We started drifting slowly at first light using two drift socks to slow us down to a crawl. The depth was 5 ft and we were on the South end of farm13. The bass were there but would not bite. After several drifts we moved in close to the South shore line. 50 yards from shore we anchored up and set out 6 rods rigged in various ways with live shiners. The action started and never stopped until our time was up. The best producer was lip hooked shiners pegged less than a foot from the float. No vis leaders out produced mono and braided lines. Small hooks worked well with the small shiners. A weedless hook with a free lined rig was effective on the drifts. We felt the big bass on the prowl but just didn't have the best bait size wise on this morning. Size does matter when it comes to shiners..... congrats to John on his biggest bass ever. Wayne and John will finish out the week in there own boat. Good luck guy's...

Hello Friends - The best way to describe the fishing is good to GREAT! Things have really picked up with the warmer temps. The artificial bite has stayed consistant with 15 to 30 bass per person for a full day. Big bass were available everyday with the wild shiners and man would we have liked to have landed every big fish we hooked latley. With artificials the plastic senkos and super flukes along with stickbaits were the first choice but rattlers , top waters and spinners are producing close to the grass. Yes, the south end of farm 13 is where most of the action is. Try at least three different area's along the south wall and you should find the big females that are willing to bite. The past four trips have all had their fair share of monsters to play with. Several 10lb and several 9lb bass were landed with lot's of 7,6,5,and 4 lb quality fish. All of these bass were fooled with live wild shiners because that's what we were fishing with. We did see plenty of action on the artificials so breaking the bank on shiners is not a requirement to catch bass. The wilds just help on the really big bass and that is what we were targeting. The weather plays a key role in how the fish bite. During high wind periods it was best to use a drift sock and slow your approach down in order to catch fish. At dead calm a twitch or slow troll worked better. When everything was perfect and the bait large enough staying anchored in one spot worked well. Experiment and you'll catch plenty of bass. Using a flourocarbon leader with either the shiners or artificials helped to catch more fish. The time spent fishing without a leader was not as productive as with a leader. Now we use a lot of braided line so the leader makes a big difference on certain days. How many monster bass or big bites did we actually get? Let's just say we had our chances at them and for reasons only known to fisherman we just didn't get all of them to the boat.( Logs, grass, ect..) That's why they call it fishing and That's why we will be back.....Enjoy and catch a BIG ONE!

Subject: Shiner Fishing Florida
Water clarity 6 inches Windy/Windy/Windy Water temps 57 degrees water depth 4 feet
Hello Friends - Tuesdays fishing trip went as well as expected. My guest were picked up at the resort and taken to a big breakfast then whisked to the Stickmarsh/Farm13 for a day of lunker bass fishing. The weather man had predicted a very windy day so we got off to an early start and headed for our top producing big fish hole first. Large live wild Lake shiners went along for what turned out to be a short ride before their timely death. We ran to the back of farm 13 and set up with 6 rods each on short leaders and small floats. The bass were feeding and sure enough and true to form the big boys came thru with TED EADS of California landing a perfect 11.43 pound lunker. What a great looking bass! Ted stayed in the zone for several hours and was positive he missed another lunker that got the line wrapped around the propeller and broke off after pulling out tons of drag. The keys to our success seemed to be short leaders with the shiners hooked just behind the dorsal fin to keep them up and active. The area we were in has some grass patches and that's were the big boys were hiding. We stopped counting in the high twenties and went on to catch plenty of nice bass until the wind suddenly started to blow just like old man weather said it would. At 10:30 I made the call to leave the fish and head for calmer water before the winds got up over the 20mph mark. Just in time we arrived in the center ditch. On the far east end we anchored and ate a great lunch. Ted's wife Nina had already caught more and bigger bass than ever before. Moving to the North end we fished the c-54 canal area to finish out what turned out to be a great day of bass fishing despite the windy conditions. Congratulation to Ted Eads who will make into the lunker gallery. Before leaving we talked to several locals who reported fair fishing with plastic worms. The biggest factor was the wind. Capt. Subject: Wet but Fun!
Hello Friends - Saturday was a real guppy washer. The rain fell slow and steady all morning long. The fishing forecast was a mild 29 out of 100 but the pressure was low and steady. It looked as if it could be a fair day fishing if everything held. Well, the report came in from our second boat the fish were biting. Our guest for the day Frank Zorc and Roy Ashley had a great time battling the weather and the bass. Frank caught the biggest bass of his life at 8lbs even on a live shiner. It was a nice healthy bass that was fat and full at the time frank caught her. Roy won the mud fish contest but we won't mention that. The bass feed hard between 8:30 and 9:30 am. Shiners were dying from the last supper syndrome faster than our guide could put them on. Bass after bass were fooled with live wild shiners and Frank and Roy were having a blast. The rain made for a truly wet trip but HEY that's fishing! Now all of the bass were caught on the far south west end of farm13. Yes, the far south end folk's. Hooking the shiners behind the dorsal fin paid off better than lip hooking them. Using this method you don't have to wait to set the hook. Once the bobber goes let her have it and hang on. No large numbers of bass were caught but enough action kept them busy with 5 and 8 lb bass taking the top honors. Most of the bass were fat and full. Some gumming or slight bites occurred. When this happens go to hooking the bait behind the dorsal and see if you don't get better hook ups. Now several fish bent and pulled hard but got away. I guess they will have to come back again to get those. All things considered it was a good day. Congratulations! Goes to Frank Zorc for setting a new personal high mark for Florida bass. The water temp was 72 degree and the air temp a mild 69. Water clarity was estimated at 2 feet but was hard to judge due to constant rain fall. All of the bass were caught anchored.

Subject: Stick Marsh Magic!
Water temp 75 degrees Air temp 82 degrees water clarity 2 feet Location south farm13 in the grass wind 5 -10 mph
Hello Friends - Splish splash might we be taking a bath? WOW! Thursday morning turned out to be a double edge sword as far as a guided bass fishing trip goes. It all started with the feeling that things just weren't right after the time change. Up earlier than ever and not really on fish. This seemed like it could be a long day. One of my guest had fished in the Stickmarsh before and knew the area well. The other was a rookie. They both wanted to shiner fish and were originally going to fish with Jerry Austin of Awesome Austin's Guide Service. Jerry had an appointment out of town and passed them to me. Meeting at the bait shop at 5:30 am we decided 6 dozen shiners would be enough if we could get on fish. The previous 2 days I had spent in the private reservoir fishing so I really was not on any bass in the Stickmarsh/farm13. Before we even hit the ramp I had Glenn and Sean convinced of a potentially slow day. The winds had blown hard the previous day and I might have to run around to find the bass. After unloading the boat I remembered that I forgot to take my daily BP medicine so this only added to the odd feeling I was having about the day. Off we went headed for the fram13 side of the compound. This area has been the best lately. Avoiding stumps and watching for floaters we made our way towards the South end of farm13 darn near the middle of the reservoir or the center n/s ditch. Yes, I have fished this area before and It can be good. Nearing our destination the OLE lean mean fishing machine let us down. Suddenly and without warning the motor went. Timing chain, gear box or thing a ma bob. It was not going to do us any good for the rest of the day. O. K feller's were back here with no way of getting out anytime soon so we my as well fish. AS I was setting out the shiners a calmness came over me. For some strange reason I just new it was gonna be this way. What I did not know was BAM! fish on...BAM! fish on...everything went down! Time after time. before I could even ponder the situation I was working my tail off. Using floating line and small light green colored bobbers with 4/0 offset worm hooks tied to 50 LB test we just plain jacked their jaws. I lip hooked each bait from the bottom out thru the top just behind the lips using featherlite hooks. Now if you let those shiners loose on too long a leader they just would not get bit so keepem up tight at 14 to 18 inches from the float. Again if they got in the grass or just in the edge of it they would not get hit either. Pull them out just in the open for easy pickings. Too far out from the grass and the bass would not stray to get them. Again bass after bass and some quality fish too! 3lbers then 4lbers then 5lbers. It was an excellent consistent bite that lasted non stop until I had run thru all 6 dozen shiners. Several big fish were lost after short fight's. Everyone was excited and it was a great trip. A trophy mudder was caught but we won't talk about that. Picture after picture made for great memories. Who knows? Maybe 40 plus fish. I was too busy to count. As it was happening I did manage a call to a dear friend MR. PORTER WHIGHAM who offered to come from his home and tow us to shore. Thanks PORTER. Just as we finished the last shiner we could hear him coming in the air boat. Again the keys for today seemed to be short leaders on light rigs near the grass to keep the shiners active and in the strike zone. Large bobbers, heavy tackle and sinking mono line will drag the life out of already weak shiners. The fishing ended at 10:45 am and we were back at the ramp by noon. A great adventure that none of us could have planned. Two thumbs up to my guest Glenn Gottlied and Sean Curran who caught all those bass and made my trip a memorable one. Thank God For Fishing! Subject: Wild Shiners...
Water temp 80 degree Air temp 85 degree high sky wind calm to 5mph Date 10/24/02
Hello Friends- Thursday was a Fantastic day for live wild shiners in the Stickmarsh/farm13. Yep, you might catch a trophy bass without them but WHY? Trophy bass hunters without shiners is like a deer hunter not using a gun. Yes, you can still use a bow but WHY? O.K. your the sporting type. I understand. Well, don't complain when your hunt comes up short because you did not bring the best tool for the job. Thursday we brought the big guns and boy did it pay off. We used 5 dozen large wild shiners and by 9:30 am we had landed a dozen bass over 6lbs. One nice trophy bass in excess of 10lbs and one bass over 8lbs. No we did not use any rocket science just large live wild shiners in the right area and BAM! Now if your stickily the artificial type guy then just skip this part... Live Wild shiners work and increase your odds of landing a trophy bass dramatically. When you come to Florida for that trophy bass bring along the big guns for success. Personally I would never ever go Trophy hunting without them If I was serious about catching a big fish in a day. Now I love to artificial fish for bass and I have caught my fair share of lunkers using this presentation. But the fact remains anglers who only have a day to get that trophy bass need to be prepared. Even on the best day shiners can make the difference. Now the big bass are holding very tight to cover in the farm13 area. All of the grass or hydrilla along the n/s ditches and on the far south end of pond are holding trophy bass. Fish the edges with live wild shiners and hold on... Thank God For Fishing! Have A Great Day! Capt. Randy Camps

Water temp 75 degree Air temp 84 degree Water clarity 1-2 ft Wind SE 0 - 7mph South farm13 Date 10/21/02
Hello Friends - Monday I enjoyed a half day wild shiner trip in farm13 with my guest Dennis Marker. Dennis has been out with me before and we both looked forward to a good day of fishing on the full moon. My plan was to fish some clear water at the 4 to 5 foot level and close to hydrilla using live bait. The best area for this is in the far south west end of farm13. After moving into a good boat position I set out 5 rods with wild shiners. Using small bobbers, floating line and wide gap worm hooks I lip hooked each one and set them out to do their thing. I used a short 18 inch leader to hold the bait up. The bass just crushed the shiners from the beginning. Most of the bass were quality fish. Nothing under 3lbs early with several topping the six pound mark. Dennis has 15 to 18 bass in a row hooked up before he missed one. He even managed a double by himself folks. Yes, two bass both over 5 pounds. After the pictures he went on to catch well over 30 bass and missed several hard hitting bass that he thought would have been bigger than all the others. It was a fun filled 4 hours I can tell you that. The key to hittting all those quality bass was cover. Very high sky conditions were holding or relating the bass right up against the cover. Fish in it or out from it and your results fell off. Fish the edge and BAM! A nice bass just about everytime. The bass hit hard and fast early from 7 to 9:30 am. After that they just came steady for the rest of the morning. Things got a little slow right before noon. We did half heartedly fish some artificial baits along the ditches catching mostly yearling bass. The bass seem to prefer the shiners in the southern area. Rattle traps were still producing bass. We spotted a few anglers throwing them with mixed results. As far as the fishing goes I would rate it as good to very good. If your coming to this area be sure to stop at the stickmarsh for a fun filled day of some of Florida's best bass fishing.

Hello Friends - We arrived Friday in the search for a double digit bass. A mild cool front was upon us and the wind was blowing from the start. The water was turning murky so I knew we had to find the best water possible to have a chance to catch that big fish. We did have a fair amount of shiners on board to help us out and I had a small area that was producing some nice bass. My guest Rick Alekna from Opelika Alabama had been on this type of hunt before. As it turned out Rick was no novice bass fisherman. His skill with a variety of baits along with his great handling ability with a rod and reel made for an easy day of watching Rick reel them in. His largest bass up to this trip was 7lbs and he was eager to top that. I knew our ability to fish the open water would be limited due to the high winds. I moved us to the clearest shallowest water I could find on the South end of farm13. It would be here we could fish in the high winds and still have a chance at a lunker. Right from the start we landed one quality bass after another. The first 5 bass were all between 4 to 6lbs. All the bass were caught on a weed bed corner facing the wind. Rick decided to toss a shiner out the opposite side into the open water just to see if anyone was home. BAM! The green bobber was gone folks. Rick got up moved into a good hook setting position. Closing the bail Rick let her have it as soon as the line drew taught. YES, It's a good one. The drag was paying out and Rick could feel the weight. I began my typical screaming and hollering as Rick reeled her to the boat. It was only Rick's 7th bass of the morning and all in just minutes. WOW! It looks big. I reach over the side and finger lip Rick's bass. As I slide her from the water I can see the smile on Ricks face. It's the biggest bass he's caught. Rick calls for a weight so I break out the scale and she's a healthy 9lbs. Both cameras come out and we record the moment for all time. The next 40 minutes Rick lands another 11 bass all of good quality. We've reached around 17 bass when the conditions change and the bite stops. The wind has really began to blow with some fairly strong gust. I move in shallower for more fish but find nothing. After several hours with only a few more fish I decide to moved across the choppy open lake and head for the North end of the stickmarsh. While crossing in center ditch between farm13 and the stick I can see hundreds of big fish marking just a few feet of the bottom in deep water. Rick is game and we stop to try our hand at these fish. Rick's got one. His rods bent over and he's hook a nice fish on a rattle trap fished deep. A Channel cat. Darn before I can get to her the line breaks. After another few minutes with no luck we move farther north and anchor up at the entrance to the main canal that runs south along the East wall. I set out a battery of shiners while Rick continues to land a few fish on rattle traps and spinnerbaits. Finally our day is over. The high winds and cooler weather seemed to slow the bite but Rick's happy he caught all the fish and beat his personal best. Not bad for a day in the Stickmarsh/Farm13..

Subject: Stick Marsh
Water temp 80 degrees Air temp 84 degrees Clarity 1 to 2 feet Location South Farm 13 High Blue Bird SKY Wind 5-9 mph Date 10/07/02
Hello Friends - Monday morning was filled with good times fishing with a couple of new friends. The object was to share some info with a couple of local fisherman that needed to be brushed up on bass fishing the stickmarsh compound. We started with navigating the area and finished with bait talk and line selection. Everything went well and we all had a great time using the info to catch fish. Yep, we practiced what I was preaching and it worked well. The first thing was navigating the compound. I showed them several safe ways to get to key locations were they then could troll into and cover most of the marsh. These pathways are generally clear and free from stumps but floaters and current changes will always cause you to look carefully anytime your out in the marsh. Be careful out there. With high sky and a slight NE wind I decided to show them a basic soft plastic technique that I use to put fish in the boat on a daily basis. This is as simple as it gets but is highly effective. First due to the overall color of the water in the late summer and early fall monofilament line is not a necessity. We started with power pro 30lb line on a medium heavy worm rod. Second a harden steel strong hook is for those of you that wish to stay stuck to those stumps. I prefer a 2.5 featherlite offset hook that can be pulled loose from just about any stick in the marsh. Lastly we offered a watermelon color senko worm with red and purple flake. We fished it weightless in less than 5ft of water on the farm 13 side. The fish slapped our baits from the get go. Right from the very first cast we were on fish. I talked the whole time as they caught bass after bass using this method. Open water, sticks and stumps and grass lines all produced bass. They key was the presentation and location close to structure. Surprisingly we landed well over 30 bass by 11am. I could tell the bite was off from previous trips due to the sky and moon conditions. It was still fun as all the bites were evenly spread thru out the morning. A few fish were missed but in general the hook-up ratio was good. They caught most of the bass and I did most of the talking. Several nice bass called for the camera but no trophies were caught. Back at the ramp area we talked to several folks who also reported that things have slowed down from the big numbers they were catching just a few days ago. The marsh is in fine shape and not crowded yet. If you have the time spend the dime to come down and fish. Take the time to say hello and we will see you out on the water. Water temps 80 degrees Air temps 88 degrees Clarity 2 to 3 feet winds east 5 to 10 09/21/02 Hello Friends, Saturday - The big draw down is on in the private reservoir. With the water flowing into the irrigation canal and out of the reservoir the bass are on the move. Spinnerbaits and rattle traps along with Carolina rigged worms dominated some very fast action. The cuts in the inner dike from the reservoir are holding bait and bass. Slam.. Bam ...Thankyou Mam! all morning long with 1 and 2lb bass. Moving from cut to cut and fishing the moving water we landed ton's of yearling bass up to 2lbs. Hundreds made there way to the boat with very few quality bass. 4 lbs was as high as we could go in the lunker hunt. The big bass are feeding just not where we were fishing. With very low water conditions to begin with our access was limited as far as fishable area in the reservoir. Still 2 hundred and 11 bass is over 300lbs of fish. Hello Friends, Sundays report is from our second boat. WOW! 250 bass and 50 plus specks with 25 nice pan fry keepers. Yes, the water was still moving and the irrigation canal was the happening spot. Right from the first to the last cast the action was non stop. Everyone was catching bass all at the same time. Multiple hook ups was the name of the game all day long. Fishing running pump stations our second boat was on the fish and never got off them all day long. 3 of our guest managed the best bass catching day of their lives. When the bass action got to be too much they tried their hands at specks. In just minutes they were filling the cooler with delicious pan fish. It's my day off to catch up on the house work. Man I wish I could have gotten in on that action. The baits of the day in order Weighed worms, Rattle traps, spinnerbaits, buzz baits, curly tail grubs, and jigs. Many other presentations worked including top waters but most of the fish bit soft plastic baits in the moving water. Numerous 4 lb fish were caught with the general overall size up from yesterday. 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 pound fish were common. Still nothing to brag about when it came to lunker bass but a great day of catching. They were still moving lot's of water. Tropical storms have the growers worried so they just might drop this reservoir to the minimum level making bass fishing the reservoir near impossible.BASS BUSTER GUIDE SERVICE Thank God for Fishing! Hello Friends, Mondays adventure turned out to be short and sweet. I was back in action with my guest a local guide and new friend John Peace from Trophy South bass Fishing. I had invited John out to fish in the reservoir when the water levels were just low. Today it was all the way down to the minimum level for fishing and just high enough so we could use the boat ramp. I choose to fish the reservoir side rather than the irrigation canal. This turned out to be a poor choice. The bass bit hard right from the first cast but nothing but dinks remained in the area's we had access to. The largest fish may have been two pounds. After 30 to 35 fish we put it on the trailer and decided to try again when there was more water. John has a flats boat and we had planned to pole across the reservoir to a deeper section and bust some nice bass. All the cuts into the reservoir were just to shallow. A known deeper entrance was blocked with water hyachins about 200 yds thick. John was not impressed but he really has no idea what he's missing. I'll get him back in here when the waters right and make a believer out of him. It was fun and he was interested in coming back. The ramp into the irrigation canal was just alittle to steep for his rig so I'll return tomorrow and fish it with mine.BASS BUSTER GUIDE SERVICE Thank God for Fishing! Have A Great Day!

Hello Friends, Tuesday turned out to be a near perfect fishing day in the Private Reservoir. Everyone should get the chance to fish like this. No, we did not catch any record fish. Not even a lunker. Nor did we use live bait. What we did do was just plain clean there clocks for hours on end. Yes, friends the bite was on and the quality up. Some larger bass had moved into the irrigation ditch and a few pumps were running. 4 lb bass were not that uncommon. A 7lb mini lunker slammed a fluke at midday and several 6lb bass were caught on worms. Numerous 5 lb bass fell for everything from rattle traps to inline spinnerbaits. It was a day for the tackle box. Catch them on one bait for a while then switch. We covered several miles of shoreline and never got off the bite. We fished from top to bottom and everything worked. I was worn out by 11 am but my guest was having a trip to remember. I watched as she landed bass after bass. Every cast could have been that lunker fish she was after. A lot of big fish were just moving in. If they don't change anything tomorrow will be a better big fish day. We finished with 82 bass on my counter and 147 on hers. Yep, out fished by a women again! Heck it was fun watching her have the time of her life. The lull never came and a thunder storm finally drove us from the honey hole. Can we impress you with stories of giant bass brought to the boat. NO. But it didn't seem to matter. Man did we catch a lot of fish....BASS BUSTER GUIDE SERVICE Thank God for Fishing! Water Temp 83 degrees Air temp 85 to 90 degrees Water Clarity 2 to 3 feet to dirty Sky high to partly cloudy
Hello Friends - Fishing in the stickmarsh lately has been a pure pleasure. Find the clearer water and hydrilla and your in the money or should I say fish. The NW corner is holding a few small bass. Baby Bams and Booms..Yes, you can catch a big fish there but your odds are not as good as elsewhere. I would not recommend this area at this time. The Deep center ditch between farm13 and the stickmarsh is holding a ton of fish deep. Try a weighted shiner or a spoon jigged vertical. These fish are the hardest to catch. You will have to have a lot of patience. To get them really coming to the boat in a hurry fish 5 ft. of water or less using a weightless senko worm. Be sure your in or around hydrilla. Farm 13 has the best hydrilla for this approach. This morning we just kicked bass and took names. 35 plus bass in just 3hrs. Many of these fish were between 3 to 5 lbs. Some dinks were caught and no lunkers hit. The action was fast and fun. We used the weightless sticko worm watermelon red color with purple flakes fished on 30lb power pro line tied to a 4/0 featherlite hook. The boat position was parallel to the cover and the presentation was very slow. All the cast were long and at angles from the boat. The front and rear anglers caught about the same amount of bass. One used a medium heavy 6ft 3inch spinning rod and the other a medium heavy bait caster 6ft 6inches long. No tricks just a simple technique used in the right area. The line was tired direct to the hook. The first thing we tried was a baby torpedo black with white stripes. This bait was tied direct to monofilament line. Triple fish camo 12 lb test. This produced two yearling bass. Next we thru rattle traps and spinnerbaits for a few minutes. Again we used monofilament line tied direct. This time we used 14lb test. Lastly we dropped the pop-r on them. Again the 12 lb mono . Nothing. The weightless approach has been working wonders all summer long so we switched over to it and BAM! Bass after bass fell for this presentation. In just under 3 hours we landed 35 plus bass. To keep track of how many fish we catch a clicker or counter is used. Sometimes we forget to click or count a fish but it gives us a good number to put into the OLE fishing log. The catch was full of Bass that slapped our baits like no tomorrow. My guest actually had three fish leap out of the water several feet. WOW! What a sight! The weather was clear with no wind when we started. Then it slowly changed to partly cloudy with 5 to 10 mph winds. Perfect for bass fishing and staying cool. Rain clouds stayed on the horizon and the pressure was slightly falling. Combine all these factors along with a good presentation and location and you have a great trip made for bass catching...

90 degree's and HOT! Water temp 83 degrees 1 to 3 feet wind slight to 10mph Hello Friends - The Private reservoir is still producing nice catches of bass even with very hot conditions. Fishing smart we landed over 60 bass today. Yep, there was some small fish in that bunch but a dozen bass did manage to surpass the 3lb mark with the largest just shy of 5 lbs. Plastic worms and flukes worked but wild shiners did most of the work today. It's typical to harvest smaller fish in weather this hot. My guest were interested in a membership in the private reservoir. They only had today to check it out so we did the best we could with all that heat and high sky. You must remember that 60 bass is just below normal for this reservoir. Some shiners got gummed while others died from heat stroke. Most bit the dust at the hands of Florida black bass. Things are looking good for this season. The water levels are still very low but hopefully that will change soon.

Overcast sky 80 degrees outside air 77 degree water temp 2-3 feet and clear Winds 5 to 10 with gust to 15 Friday 13, 2002
Hello Friends - We started at 8:30am and headed for farm13. The first north south ditch west of the East dike in farm13 was the location for the day. The sky was overcast and winds slight to start. The method for the day was weightless and weedless senko worms fished slow using 30lb power pro line and a 4/0 offset worm hook. The colors were June bug, motor oil with red flake, black with red flake and watermelon with purple and red flake. All the colors seemed to work equally well. The best result's came close too or in the hydrilla. Dead sticking or very slow movement worked best. Midway and going south to the back of farm13 produced fish. In and around the canal produced the most fish. The total for the 1/2 day adventure was 41 bass. 5 bass were between 4 to 5 lbs and a dozen or so fish from 3 to 4 lbs. The rest were small yet fun to catch. Only one fish might have broke the 5 lb mark but I lost it in the thick hydrilla. Kicking bass and taking names was what it felt like. It was fishing not catching. The action was steady and we were sure that big bad stickmarsh lunker would bite. The lunkers never hit. The wind began to blow and the fish moved deeper into the hydrilla. This is where we caught most of the larger fish. Yes, there was some banging and splashing along with blood in the boat. We were having a great time and that's all that counts. For daily reports that cover Stickmarsh , Garcia and our Private Reservoir goto www.bassbusterfla.com .

September 7th Hot and sunny water stained to murky Winds building
Hello Friends - Not much was happening when we arrived at Stickmarsh/farm13. My guest were after a big bass and if they couldn't get that they wanted plenty of action. Things started slow and finished o-so-fast. Our live bait was pure crap old and half dead. The plan was to flood my best producing area with shiners and hang on. Sometimes during the heat of the summer with everything being so slow you get poor bait. 13 shiners managed to move enough to help us hook more than a dozen bass with one fish right at 5lbs. We fished from 8am to 11:30am and went thru 5 dozen shiners. Most of those died shortly after the first cast from old age. It was fun but not what we expected. We never got that monster bite. It was time to load up and finish in the land that time forgot. We were now going for the mother load. Swinging by the bait shop we picked up 5 dozen more shiners. These babies just got off the truck and were full of spit and vinegar! Man how I wish we would have had these up in the stick this morning. Arriving at the Private Reservoir we were ready for some bass fishing. I put in and headed for a honey hole that can really produce under the right conditions. I had taken everyone to lunch and with all the talking and travel the time had slipped by. It was almost 4:30 when we anchored up in the spot. OH! BOY! Bobber down... Another ones down!... rods were bent all over the place. I worked my butt off and my guest went on to catch just over 50 bass. 4 bass over 5lbs and one fish that broke off at the boat that you guessed it would have been the biggest bass. I was totally covered in sweat. Finally we ran out of bait as the sun was going down. Back at the meeting place we talked about how well the split trip worked out. 63 bass with 5 over 5lbs and one mini lunker that got away. The only down fall to the hole trip was the heat. That travel between fishing holes and lunch helped us to miss most of it but it was never cool if you know what I mean. With everyone satisfied I headed home to prepare for another outing tomorrow. hot...sunny...hot winds steady at 8 to 10 water 2 - 3 feet
Hello Friends - Sunday we made for the Private Reservoir bright and early. It was time to kick some bass and get home early before the heat turned us into crispy critters. My guest were from Minnesota and would not be use to the heat. Shiner fishing was scheduled for the entire day. The first hour the action was steady with 15 bass coming to the boat. The largest was four pounds. Suddenly with the sun at a higher angle the darn bass just shut down on our shiners. We switched over to worming and got the total up to 26 bass by 11 am. BAM! a real pole bender just took that black and silver plastic worm as it hit the water and is on a tear. Skillfully my guest works him to the boat for a picture and Physical. He's healthy and weighs in at 5lbs 7 ounces. Checking the clock we realize it's lunch time and head in. That last bass has the hearts pounding in my guest. They would like to catch a lot more fish but are getting hot. I suggest we take a break and return at 5:00pm for the evening bite. The temps should be down by then and the fish active again. We will fish till dark. Everyone agrees....I return with 6 dozen shiners and the knowledge that these bass were on fire yesterday late in the afternoon. Now my heart is pumping. Friends it was what I live for. Two guest and four shiner poles with action that was non stop until we ran out of bait. We started and fished for an hour with little results. Then the flood gates opened and BAM! BOOM! SMASH! All the lines were getting hit. We caught bass after bass. I could not keep the poles baited. No one kept track of how many fish we caught but it was a lot. Every dozen bass or so we would get a big bite that resulted in a 5lb plus bass. Two strikes were so awesome the shiner and bobber were thrown from the water. Our 20lb test just snapped several times from the relentless pressure. It was harvest time folks. My guest said there must be thousands of them. The only break we got was to take pictures for the family album. Just as the sun sat we were done. How many we could not tell you but it was fun... My weekend has finally come to an end with everyone happy and on fish. My left thumb and index finger has no skin left on it from handling all those bass. I truly have had a great time fishing. Subject: Stickmarsh/farm13 report
Hello Friends - The bass fishing was good to excellent today depending on where you were at. I have two reports for you today. The first report is from the Stickmarsh/farm13. The second is from our Private Reservoir. Our half day trip in the Stickmarsh/farm13 was filled with action that just about broke one clients heart. After eating a great breakfast we headed out to Stickmarsh/farm13 were my client repeatedly missed some big fish. Finally he kicked butt and set the hook on his last big bite. That bass weighed out at 6lbs 5oz. The total count for the morning was just under 25 bass with my client catching 20 of those fish. The presentation varied from weightless senko worms fished in 4 ft of water to Texas style lizards and senkos fished in medium to light grass close to drop-offs and ledges or canals. All of the bass came from the farm13 side. The action was slow but evenly spread thru-out the morning. It all added up to a great time fishing. The weather had held and our plans to fish the Private Reservoir in the afternoon were on. After lunch we headed for the Private Reservoir. BA-BAM! Our luck changed for the better when we started fishing in the land that time forgot. The conditions were totally different from the Stickmarsh/farm13. We had some moving water and the lake to ourselves. In no time at all we were busting bass trick worm style. Larger bass were taken on super flukes fished slow and weightless. The best fish we landed was 5lbs 6 ozs. Heated action made for one terrific afternoon catching bass in this reservoir. Our total afternoon catch was 63 bass. It seemed like the rods stayed bent over all day long folks. Wow! What a day of fishing. I'm tired and everyone's happy. That's the way it should be. Thank God For Fishing! Subject: Fishing The Private Reservoir
Hello Friends - Wednesday was another stellar day of bass catching in the Private Reservoir. Our plans called for a trip out with two boats and lot's of guest. My boat left the ramp area first followed by a party guided by the legendary John Fox. We decided to meet back at noon for some lunch and exchange fish catching stories. Well, I no sooner set the troller down and we were on fish. Seven cast produced 7 bass all 2 to 4 lbs. My guest were off to a fast start and that trend continued all morning long. Every stop produced fish. We ran from area to area catching bass as we went. Our total count was nearing forty bass as we meet John Fox and his party back at the ramp area for a great lunch. After several good fish catching stories and an excellent meal we headed back out for another hour of bass fishing. The last hour produced 6 bass all over 2lbs. The Big Fish bite never came. All of our guest said it was the most bass they had ever caught. The action was fantastic and non stop folks. Everyone said they would be back. I had a blast watching one of my guest that was a real rookie when it came to fishing. He did everything wrong and still landed 25 plus bass. His method was pure madness but he still hooked up time and time again. That smile he left with will last for a long time. It was a great day for everyone. Nobody left without catching fish. The two boat total of 90 plus bass in just about a half day of fishing was par for the reservoir. The only real disappointment was the lack of a big fish bite. That's why they call it fishing. The artificial bite has never been better here in the Private Reservoir. To book your "Best Bass Fishing Trip "ever goto www.bassbusterfla.com and fill out the reservation form. Subject: THe Private Reservoir
Hello Friends - Sunday our time was spent hooking bigger bass in the private reservoir. The big fish finally woke up after a couple of days of just smaller fish. The first 10 fish were all over 4lbs with a nice 6 and 8lb bass coming to the boat on super flukes. The bass bite was steady and the quality was up. We caught fish all day long. The numbers for the day was just over 60 fish. Several unknown fish of unknown size broke us off and that kept our hearts pumping and our lines extremely tight. We love this type of action. The bite slowed mid morning so we fished for specks until the afternoon bite. Live minnows did the trick with 2 dozen or so keepers brought home to cook. Thunderstorms cut short the afternoon and evening time spent fishing. The weather was in and out all day and this affected were and when we fished. All of the bass were caught on plastic soft baits in the Private Reservoir. It looks like the big fish are starting to turn on in our Private Reservoir. This reservoir is the best place to catch bass period. When the big fish bite there is no better spot than here folk's. I'm looking forward to higher water levels in the next month or so. Exploring the entire reservoir all 1750 acres in a day usually results in a better catch size wise. As we move out of the hurricane season the powers that be will hold more water thus opening up the entire reservoir to us. Subject: The PRIVATE reservoir...
Hello Friends - After a slower bite in the Stickmarsh/farm13 this morning I made plans to fish a few hours this evening at the private reservoir. I had purchased a couple of new rods and reels and it was time to set them up and break them in. From the first cast on I was kicking it and catching bass baby. What a time I had with those fish. It was pure magic. 90 minutes and 41 bass. Both rods got a real workout. 2 to 5 LB bass creamed my baits. More than a dozen fish pulled out the drag and went for broke. It just seemed to go on forever. In just 24 hours the water conditions in there had completely changed. Clear and clean slow moving water with a storm approaching from the West. A fisherman's dream. You could feel the temperature and pressure falling. The bass were calling my name. You should have been there. It was great. All the bass fell for plastic worms fished Texas style. The water levels have come up and it looks like I'll plan to be back in there tomorrow to complete the break in process. At least that is what I'm going to tell everyone so I can go fishing. The things we fisherman will do to get out on the water. Don't hesitate to give me a call and check out this reservoir yourself. Thank God For Fishing! Have a Great Day! Capt. From: "Hugh Crumpler III" Cc: ; ; ; ; "Steve Collins" ; ; "FlyHatch.com" Subject: Stick Marsh & Farm 13 Catching Report Date: Sunday, June 16, 2002 7:13 PM
The water level at Stick Marsh & Farm 13 remains at high levels. The recent rains have raised the level of the two lakes to back where the levels were about a month ago. It is easy to traverse the lakes for those who are familiar. Caution is always important.
Catching at Stick Marsh and Farm 13 is excellent. Thirty bass a day should be an average. The old canals in Farm 13 and the old roads in Farm 13 are holding good numbers and size of bass. The choice is the angler's as far as how to catch the bass.
Carolina rigs work. Texas rigs work. Top water lures work. Buzzbaits work. Shallow running crankbaits work. Rattle traps work. The technique is up to the angler.
Hydrilla in Stick Marsh continues to receed. There are some bass to be caught away from the grass and some to be caught in the grass. Search until you find one bass and then work the area good- there are more!
Today, Fathers Day, I arrived at the lake in time to make my first cast at 8:48- that produced my first bass. Several more and I left the running water at the pumping station. There was one bass to be had in the spillway area. More were there- I just was looking to check on my pets to see how they were behaving and if they moved or not.
Before leaving I found that a school of really nice bass had moved into one the old summer haunts. Eleven bass between six and eight pounds fell for the action of my BabyBassBoat (3/8 ounce head, Large blade, hot chartruce and hot white skirt). That was a real nice school of bass. They will be there on Tuesday for my next guide trip. Sorry- can't tell- have to keep some secrets for my clients.
